Another great instructional video and the words of encouragement at the end were really nice to hear. Please keep posting these macro videos. You are inspirational.
Great video and great instruction value!!! I prefer Zerene ( I also have Helicon) it an be super simple to use…or go crazy and learn out to correct a stacking issues by finding the image(s) that have the part correct and use them in the editing process. The owner of Zerene is super friendly and willing to help. He lives in Washington state and is very active in the macro community. I live in Minnesota, and with the long winters I do a lot of very larger focus stacks (100-250 images) up to 10x on the WeMacro motorized rail which is really A++. I collect a lot of insects and store them in isopropyl alcohol (70% strength from Walmart!) for something to shoot in the winter. As I mentioned in one of your recent videos I just started using the OM1 MK II with the 90mm macro and all I can say is WOW!!!!! In camera focus stacking is amazing! Keep up the good work!!! You videos are excellent.
I appreciate your amazing videos and photography! I don't shoot a lot of bugs! But I do shoot a lot of flowers! I'm taking notes on your techniques! I'm a seasoned photographer just too lazy to do photo stacking!!! I admire your patience and dedication!!!
I find your work to be amazing. I don't shoot Macro, though you are inspiring me to give it a try, and I don't shoot OM, and yet I always watch your videos and I follow you on IG. I do have a diffuser, flash, and a completely manual macro lens so I can try some of the techniques you have taught.
I own and tried all three stacking softwares you mentioned. While photoshop does a good work (especially at aligning frames) it's considerably slower than Helicon/Zerene. So if you intend to work with 100+ frames deep stacks I absolutely recommend to pick either Helicon or Zerene. Helicon is my favorite because the pro version can actually stack the raw files so no need to convert your raws into tiff files before stacking. Also in my experience Helicon colors and noise are quite better than Zerene. Though I 100% agree that Zerene has a much better post editing tool that allow you to merge several finished stacking methods together which is not possible with Helicon.
Trey, I've found Helicon to be much faster than Zerene and the Pro version allows using the GPU which makes the process really fast. If the DNG converter is placed in Helicon then a group of 60 RAW files can just be moved over into Helicon. You only end up with 1 additional file. But, that stacked file is a RAW file, not a jpeg. Also, noise is canceled out since the noise is in a different spot for every image.
Wow, well done , very helpful. I have trouble holding steady enough for one image, let alone a large stack. What are best techniques to remain steady, especially at 1-1
Incredible pics once again. Great instructional video. Tried hand held stacking and boy do I need work I tried a monopod but for me that was even worse. Do you use monopod with ball head? I normally use the om software for stacking
Hey bro, thanks for the guide. A question: Why lower the shutter speed instead of raising the flash? I've just got the OM-1 ii and it can do brackets at 1/100, surely the faster the better to minimise movement etc?
I find that raising the flash power results in harsher highlights on the subjects sometimes. Lowering the shutter speed won’t affect me too much. Sharp images even at speeds as slow as 1/20 are still possible if the subject is still
Why not just use TTL, there is no point in guessing the flash output. All lenses are compatible with focus bracketing, the list is about compatibility of focus stacking (in camera), not quite the same.

I appreciate it 🙏🏾🙏🏾 means a lot and I’m glad you enjoy the videos. Definitely plan on giving helicon a try in 2025

great video again tray thanks for taking the time to help
Excellent images as usual.
well done! I don`t have such a good pulse. I like this video!
Great video👌Personally I like Zerene, I constantly get better results then Helicon and retouch of Zerene is better IMO.
But Helicon is way faster..

Thank you! Good video and beautiful images. 🙂

Wow!! Amazing work and great Video! 😲Which OM camera do you use?
Would you recommend the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV?
Thanks!
I use the em5 mark 3. And I don’t know anything about that camera, but I’m almost certain that it would be a great camera
@@Xx7trey Thanks!

I don't have the OM camera yet, I have Nikon at the moment. What's the different between Focus Bracketing and Focus Stacking in your system?
In focus stacking mode the camera will stack the photos in camera. Bracketing just takes the photos without stacking them in camera
Focusing bracketing or hand-held movement, which is easier?
Focus bracketing is easier in my opinion
Very nice…! When you make 20 shots with bracketing, is every shot also a flash shot? In your video I see only one flash…..
the flash it so quick the they are often not caught in a frame of the video, but it would be going on for each photo.
👋👋👋👍👍👍👍
