I happened to stumble upon your video this morning and subsequently watched six of them. I have to say, you shared more enthusiasm and knowledge than I have seen from any other macro photographers on UA-cam. The videography, music choice, and measured and insightful dialogue reflect someone who is clearly consumed with his craft and his love of nature. And, it goes without saying, your photographs are superb. Well done!
Just getting in to Macro work. Your instructional vids are so clear and free of fluff, it is so refreshing to watch. All meat, no bones, no BS. Love it!
You are one of the most humbled person on YT nowadays. Your dedication is simply exceptional and obvious of course. There is no gear out there what could get be even close to your creativity/simplicity/practicality combo. You are a talented young men. Keep going mate!!
Great video! If anyone is having problems hand holding and a tripod is too much, using a monopod can work well. It will help you keep level with the subject but also allow you to tilt/rock back and forth.
BRO!!! You saved my life, i was about to quit, thanks to you i m ready to start over again. I really apreciate for your tips and for your encouragement at the end. Peace !
Thank you for a very instructive video. My Olympus 90mm arrived 2 days ago and I am new to macro. I find your channel the best of many I have looked at. You obviously have a love of invertebrates. Keep them coming and God bless.
Doing all these with a D3400 and a wild looking homemade diffuser?!? You my friend are an absolute LEGEND! Thank you for your calm , collected, and knowledgeable approach to explaining focus stacking for macro photography. We gotta get you more followers! You deserve it. BTW What lens are you using?
Holy cow! You are amazing, that was a great watch and your photos are stellar as well. Thanks for sharing this. I'm inspired again to not give up on my stacking...
One of the best focus stacking tutorials I’ve come across. I’m trying more snowflake photography today and I forgot how to align and edit the stack of macro photos. Thanks for your help.
Wow, this was a really great tutorial, thank you! I've watched many like it, but yours has actual useful information for beginners! I like that you included video of yourself going out into the field to shoot, and then showed the photos you took. You take AMAZING photos!
Dude. I have been watching a BUNCH of macro photography videos, but yours show a true mastery that's on a completely different level. You have an awesome patience and passion for your craft. You have developed a an expert eye and skill over the years, and it shows. You deserve WAY more subs. Thank you for all your helpful tips -- I've bookmarked all of them for when my Olympus 60mm F2.8 macro lens comes in. (Have you looked at the Olympus OM-1 with in-camera focus stacking? Wish my camera had it.)
Thank you so much 🙏🏾🙏🏾 means a lot to me and I’m glad the videos have been helpful. I plan on doing a video covering focus bracketing in the near future
This is the best explanation I've seen on UA-cam for the whole process of photo stacking! Technique is the name of the game and you cover that so well!! I look forward to taking my macro photography to the next level thanks to your instructions. Keep up the good work!
im new to this sort of photography but your video is brilliant and so helpful , i may have follow on questions but thanks for taking the time to make this
Great shots. I enjoyed the video very much. I like it that the music did not drown out you voice in the video. I have been focus stacking for several years, but working mostly with flowers.
For a beginner like me, this video has been very informative. Your explanations and tips are spot on for me to improve my novice ability. Thank you so much for posting your videos.
I really enjoyed this. I do a lot of stacking of flowers on a tripod indoors with a remote control, but will be following your advice when I go outside. Thanks.
Wow! Amazing photos, well done! Thank you for sharing your techniques and showing how you don't have to have the latest cameras to take the best macro shots. I have the latest gear and I still struggle to get any photos any where near as good as yours.
Very informative, almost seems easy the way you describe it. Have my first macro lens tuning up in three days, I can't wait. I did take about 20 shots of a damsel fly last year, I used a Sigma 70-210 on a full-frame camera with monopod, one image is stunning but no depth of field, never the less both the eyes, body and legs are sharp, only the wings fad to a blur so well pleased, I've done a lot of reading and watching UA-cam to help with my decision on lens and ordered it yesterday.
Wow, well done, we are in winter so not much about between rain and wind ! cant wait for summer as I have a new flash diffuser made, have been putting my designs up on FB Homemade flash diffusers for Macro photography. Cheers great Video
These images are stunning. I'm having trouble getting nice photos out of a stack of stationary shots (coins in my case). I can only aspire to produce images like you showcased here. Top notch.
Your videos came up while I was looking for Marco photos tips. I have subscribed to your channel. I like the way you talk about how you do Marco photography. It doesn't seen to be difficult as it looks. Thank You for your Knowledge and Hard Work. Keep the videos coming.
Ive just found your channel, of course I've subscribed! You have some serious skills man, thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, very inspiring!
Greetings from Thailand. I am primarily a bird photographer and currently dipping my toe into the macro world. Great video and I was surprised with your no flash photos- excellent!
what additional light you used for at 6:37? Great tips. I'd say this is one if not the most comprehensive video I've seen about focus stacking. You tackled normal light and with flash and highlighted the recycle time disadvantage on continuous mode.
Crazy your channel isn't bigger, some of the best macro shots I've seen on youtube
I appreciate it 🙏🏾🙏🏾 means a lot
It'll come - just needs time for folks to get around and see it. Then, they'll be hooked like you and I.
Came here to say this! Incredible work

Love the custom flash modifier, that thing is pretty slick.
Great video! If anyone is having problems hand holding and a tripod is too much, using a monopod can work well. It will help you keep level with the subject but also allow you to tilt/rock back and forth.
Thank you 🙏🏾 I’ve never used a monopod before but I plan on trying one
If you tilt back and forth, your view of the subject would no longer be linear.
Really appreciate all the tips, Trey! Found the video very helpful and eager to try out some manual stacks
