Hi Beth! I love scones. I work at a cafe where I bake scones every morning. The way that we prep as much as possible while keeping things as fresh is possible is to keep all of the dry ingredients in a sealed container, into which we grate the butter with a box grater (it's a lot of hand grating but really works well). As a result, the butter+flour mix is chilled over night which makes it an easy task to fold, cut, and bake the scones in the morning. We also have our ingredients for the flavour prepped in small and separate containers to add in the crumb stage, as you did here.
I love how informative and detailed your videos are - many of the things you point out (such as the fact that it's best to pop the scones back in the fridge in order to help them retain their shape once they bake) are so useful and add to the general knowledge base, which is always a good thing :) keep up the amazing work!
Beth, I remember I have seen a video somewhere that in order to ensure the scones raise evenly in the oven, you got to press the cutter straight down instead of twist and wiggle the cutter. I'm so going to try out your recipe soon! I love scones!
I was struggled with the misshape scone. Living in the hot climate is so difficult to make it right. I tried chilling the dough in the fridge as your advice and it came out perfect. Thank you so much for a useful tips. 😍
I always watch you and Chef Anna Olson to get ideas and the best scones. Your tip about after cutting the dough back to the refrigerator helped my dough staying firm! Thank you so much!
Hi Beth. Greetings from Malaysia. Tried making your raisin scones recipe and they turned out amazing. Crusty on the outside and soft inside. Thank you for this.
I LOVE that you made this video. I was just sitting in the backyard as the cool New England autumn breeze rolled in and kissed my face. It sent a comforting craving for a sweet scone and cup of chai tea. I can't wait to try your recipe. Thank you Beth!
Oh my gosh, those look SOOO DARLING!!! It really makes me feel like a little girl again, having a tea party with some plush toys and scones. You're the best! Thank you so much!!!
I made according to recipe but used sour dough starter instead of cream and used dates instead of sultanas. Beautiful scones and made exactly eight just like the recipe said. The reason I said this is because these things don’t usually work out for me. They are just so Yum 😋 Thank you Beth. (I am called Beth short for Elizabeth)
Mmmm.... I love scones. And I love tea. My favourite are raisin scones, but I also like savoury cheddar cheese scones. For some reason I like to put jam in cheddar cheese scones, while I prefer the raisin ones just with butter.
Ive made the chocolate ice cream recipe and it is the best ive ever taste! I just have to say that Im on puerto rico and here the heat is so high that on 30 minutes my ice cream wasnt ready so y put it on the freezer and it get finished. The only thing that happened to me is that I didnt found bittersweet chocolate on stores so I used Semi-Sweet and added cocoa powder for the flavor and it was perfect. Love you beth and thank you for this I had a great family moment :)
cindylopez67 Aww I love hearing that! It's really my hope with this channel, to share family recipes that mean something to my family in the hopes that they will soon mean something to yours :) xx Happy Cooking!
Thank you so much for this recipe Beth......love how you pair it with your choice of tea....it's the perfect match. Thanks so much for sharing, enjoy your week-end.
My mum makes Scones all the time. Its a very Kiwi/ British thing to have scones. :D I have eaten them all my life so tasty. I think the recipe we use in New Zealand is slightly different but this turned out awesome none the less.
I know this is an old video, BUT let me tell you I have found the perfect scone recipe! They are so good and way better than cafe scones. Butter, cream, eggs... so decadent 👌💜💚💜
I have 2 girls ages 9 & 10 and we've never had a tea party. Criminal, I know. I'm battling cancer and am on a mission to create awesome memories with them, so recently I decided I want to have a girly tea party. Thanks so much for the recipes! I just hope my 6 year old son will want to join in :-). P.s. I hate raisins. So glad you gave 2 other yummy alternatives.
Susana Christiansen Oh Susana what a lovely idea, and yes I am sure your son will join in when he sees the chocolate scones :) I've found parenting is all about the memory making and I always think to myself "I'm in the childhood business" and what I create is what they will remember. Please know you are in my thoughts as your battle your cancer, I wish you all the strength and support you need and I hope these recipes will help you create those memories you will cherish. Ones that you will all look back on fondly years from now :) Mothers are amazing creatures and we can accomplish great feats we put our minds to.:) Sending you "digital hugs" xox Beth
Ooo! I'm always looking for a good scone recipe, I'm addicted to the things but have never really been able to find a good recipe for them that was flexible, it mostly was just for one kind of scone. I love how you made this recipe so no matter what you add you are able to still create a lovely scone! I think I may try this recipe with some vanilla beans and put on a glaze afterwards for a sweet scone, I had something similar to that once and I fell in love with it so if I can make it myself at home all the better! I'll probably be using this recipe often to make some for my family, my dad, mom and I all love tea so I think the sconces would make a lovely additive to our evening tea. Thanks for sharing this recipe! :D
I loved this video! I love hosting tea parties :) I would pair a cranberry and orange scone with an earl grey to bring out the bergamot. I missed having tea, I'm so glad it's getting chillier in California!
Ha! I know me too! I'm "done" with the hot weather here in California. So excited for fall! I love a good earl grey tea too! That's my hubby's favorite :)
Love the look of these scones, I'm English and have never seen a chocolate scone before but as a self confessed chocoholic, I will definitely be trying these out :)
Yay! More scone recipes! I just made your scone recipe from your Kin community Brunch video, so next time I'll be sure to make one of these recipes! Thanks Beth!
Oh Entertaining With Beth ! All these teas and scones are making me emotional ! Ahah ! And you did, without knowing, my favorite snack after school when I was little ! Fresh chocolate scones (with butterscotch sauce, I'm guilty..) and peppermint tea, so refreshing yes ! Loved this recipe !
Beth, such a beautiful video! So comforting, perfect for this time of the year,FALL!!!. My favourite! The scone recipes are delicious, and all of those teas go perfect with your scones, great choice Beth! I hope you are having a great weekend, Patricia.
ow this video is so inspiring Beth!! I wanna do my tea party too now even though is not common at all in Italy ahahah loved your table presentation as well, so elegant. hope you will do again a whole-menu video with the game plan part like in the past, I enjoyed it so much! hava a nice weekend Beth!! Gianmarco
Hi Giamarco! Ha yes I'm sure this wouldn't be a very common thing to serve in Italy (you have so many other wonderful pastries there!) But hey it could be a fun thing to surprise your guests with ha! :) I know I love those full party menus too! I want to be able to afford to bring them back here on my channel. They were part of a Kin Community series we did on Kin as part of a funded channel program, where YT gave us funding to produce them. Sadly they are expensive to produce, since they take a full day to shoot and a full week to edit. But worth it in my opinion. I think they are so great and helpful for people.I hear YT is bringing crowd source funding to channels soon, where creators will be able to raise money for certain projects and I'm thinking maybe we try that to see if we can raise enough money to bring them back? Maybe 6-7 of them a year for all the major holidays? Keep you posted on that! :) Hope all is well in beautiful Italia! :)
thanks for your explanation Beth, I hope it will possible again in future then! They are very helpful for the major holidays indeed and also very enjoyable to watch! It's been a super rainy summer in italy so we're ready for the fall baking now ;-) xxx
Thanks Beth. I love your recipes with all those vital tips. I love scones and I was looking for a proper recipe, which can go with my home made strawberry jam. Please, also give the recipe of pumpkin scones.

Ha! I know I kept thinking about that too! I wanted to keep going...tea sandwiches, pastries the whole bit! :) Hopefully one day I'll be able to afford to do those party menus again!
I really like this video because you don't use food processor. That gives me a courage that I can make them as a too-less beginner! I'll try this recipe instead of others!!:D
I just was in England and LOVED scones :) So I hope this works out :D I love you recipes!! So nicely done and they looks delicious! Greeting from Germany :)
Hi Beth, My favorite scone has white chocolate and pecans with a hint of cinnamon. I used to get them at a bakery that has since closed. I miss them!!! I'm going to try to recreate the recipe with your base. Thanks. Btw, where did you get that super cute honey container?
Ilirida Aliji Aww not true! That's the exact age I started to cook and hey if she allows you to cook, you can then cook for her too!!! :) She may rethink it when positioned that way :) Keep at it!
Entertaining With Beth yeahh you are right I said to my mum and she says let`s cook something hah you must to learn it !! thank you I love to do everything cause everything is possible
hiii!! the scones look so good! can’t wait to try them 😋 but may i know if i could use whipping cream instead of heavy cream? it’s hard to find heavy cream in my country
Aw thanks for that :) So glad you enjoy them! A lot of my dishware comes from family pieces passed down (like the cups and saucers) or pieces I pick up at inexpensive home stores like Cost Plus World Market (Tea pots), Chinatown (the napkins) or my favorite source, museum stores (that's where I got the little honey pot) I'm just always on the look out for interesting things (I have a bit of a dishware fetish according to my family!) I also love Thirft stores and flea markets, you can find some great things there too! I think an eclectic mix always gives a table more personality, and more stories to tell too! :)
Hi Beth. For the cranberry orange scones, would it be okay to brush with an egg wash too and to sprinkle with brown sugar instead? I'm not using turbinado sugar that much so I was just wondering. Thanks and I LOVE your channel!
Hi Beth. Are there any ingredients that could be added to the scones that you wouldn't recomend: anything that could change the texture/shape of the biscuit or make it soggy during baking? Also, you are by far my favorite chef on UA-cam! You should add a baking playlist to your channel. I've always been a good chef but a terrible baker. However, I have attempted so many of your recipes and succeeded! Thanks for all your help in overcoming my baking weakness and keep up the great work!
Aw thanks for that! Great idea! I'm going to add that playlist :) As for the scones, I wouldn't add any really juicy fruit like peaches or plums etc, that would make your scones a bit too soggy, but firmer fruit like blueberries are great! (add a little lemon zest to the berries and that's a great combo too!) :) Keep up the baking!! Practice always makes perfect :) xx
Love that! I keep hearing about the box grater method and always wondered about it, you've just inspired me to try it :)
Thanks!

Thank you, Beth! A tea party is a wonderful way to bring friends together. Great idea and recipes!
I was struggled with the misshape scone. Living in the hot climate is so difficult to make it right. I tried chilling the dough in the fridge as your advice and it came out perfect. Thank you so much for a useful tips. 😍
I like the way how fast you discuss the recipe. Saves up time!

Hi Beth. Greetings from Malaysia. Tried making your raisin scones recipe and they turned out amazing. Crusty on the outside and soft inside. Thank you for this.
Thank you for this one. I followed the basic recipe and everything came our amazingly. I was surprised that I had made them, they were that good.
I LOVE that you made this video. I was just sitting in the backyard as the cool New England autumn breeze rolled in and kissed my face. It sent a comforting craving for a sweet scone and cup of chai tea. I can't wait to try your recipe. Thank you Beth!
I love the way you present your easy recipes Beth. And all your tips are good.
Thank you :). I'm so glad you enjoy the recipes! :)
Oh my gosh, those look SOOO DARLING!!! It really makes me feel like a little girl again, having a tea party with some plush toys and scones. You're the best! Thank you so much!!!

They are beautiful Beth! 👏🏻I’m Australian and miss my grandmothers beautiful scones. I’ll be making your recipe 🥰

My mum makes Scones all the time. Its a very Kiwi/ British thing to have scones. :D I have eaten them all my life so tasty. I think the recipe we use in New Zealand is slightly different but this turned out awesome none the less.
I’ve made scones many times with different recipes, this is the best recipe of scones ever.
So glad to hear they have been a hit!!
I love your tea set!!! Everything looks wonderful!
You're the best Beth, thanks for sharing your wonderful recipe. I'm making these for my work colleagues for breakfast tomorrow.
honeysvw Awww so sweet! What a nice colleague you are! :)

I tried this today and Im very pleased with the result!!
I love a good tea and cake. I personally love triangles as no wastage of the dough. Traditional Indian chai latte with pumpkin scones are divine.

Mmmmm, I love scones and tea! What an awesome video Beth!
Great recipe! I will try this out soon! I LOVE SCONES!!! And most of the easy recipes use soda but this one seems really easy AND DELICIOUS!!!
Try some morrocan mint tea with the chocolate scone. They are a fun twist of the classic peppermint tea.
Yay! More scone recipes! I just made your scone recipe from your Kin community Brunch video, so next time I'll be sure to make one of these recipes! Thanks Beth!
Alex Vang Ha! Oh yes that one is great too! Same basic recipe but different fillings :)
Another tea that I'd serve w/the chocolate scones is raspberry :).

Please, also give the recipe of pumpkin scones.

Hi Beth! I loooove your apple tart recipe, I've made it three times now! I'm planning on organising a brunch with some of my friends! I wanted to make something sweet and savoury, so I was wondering what would be some good ingredients/flavour pairings to make some savoury scones (using your scone recipe here as the base). Thank you so much!
Hi Beth, I absolutely love all of your videos. My grandmother LOVES scones but she's diabetic. Even though you don't use a lot of sugar in the dough I was wondering what can I use as a sub for the sugar?
You rock beth i love all your recipes i actually tried your crepes this morning they were so good!!!
+Vivian Gutierrez awe thx! So glad you enjoyed the crepes and they were a hit!
These are amazing scones, very delicious! Thank yo very much for your recipe, so easy and delightful! In addition, what is the music in the end? Thanks
MaryUkraine Ha I know isn't it catchy? :) It's actually just some cleared music from a production music library. I'm not sure if it's available for sale? But maybe you could "shazam it" and see? :)
Thank you for the best scones recipe so far. I definitely going to bake today
I made these scones and they are mind blowing!!

Hello beautiful Beth, thank you so much for your detail description, if I take 4-6 cups of Flour - how much baking powder I have to put?
Hi Beth! I love this recipe.. and now my friends love it too after they tasted the goodies :)
I like how you always explain the process and not just assume we know the details... It's great! And that is why i want to ask you for a Praline Recipe. I know there are a lot out there - but they seem so very complicated to follow! And I know how you always make recipes look easy - and so we dare to start cooking! ..not just wishing.
I but a praline silicone mold and the shapes are so lovely that I must find a way to make them. Please help! Thanks!
Thank you very much for your tutorial, it is so great and detail method for me as a beginner, I am confused what kind of the flour should I used? Plain flour, self raising flour or white plain?
Oh sure just regular All-Purpose flour is what I always use :) No problem! So glad the videos are helpful! :)
Hi Beth! I made your scones and they were a hit!
Delicious!
Great Tutorial!
Thank you for sharing your amazing talent!
Greetings from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 🌹🌹🌹

Lovely, as usual!
I love this! It's so simple.
This looks very simple and good scones! Can I check which tray should I bake my scones? They don’t seem to brown easily ?
I love this!!! You should do a afternoon tea party with the sandwiches and everything- keep the good work!!!
Ha! I know I kept thinking about that too! I wanted to keep going...tea sandwiches, pastries the whole bit! :) Hopefully one day I'll be able to afford to do those party menus again!
Entertaining With Beth ooh i hope so too! i love those long party videos :)

Ohh I was kind of hoping for maybe pumpkin scones! Or how about pumpkin stew? Or maybe a pumpkin spice latte! :P aaah my mouth is watering!
Dear,
You are always superb. Hats off for you dear.
Hi Beth, My favorite scone has white chocolate and pecans with a hint of cinnamon. I used to get them at a bakery that has since closed. I miss them!!! I'm going to try to recreate the recipe with your base. Thanks. Btw, where did you get that super cute honey container?
I found new favoutite tea - camomile, rosehip, melissa and pear blend. I like it so much that I don't want to mix its taste with any sweet treat xD
Oh now that sounds fantastic!
Amazing...they look delicious...thank you
I just try your recipe, I think put more sugar and a pinch of salt will make the scone even better 😊
These look great!
I `m in love to cook really I`m 13 years old and my mum says that`s you are too little to cook (HARD)BTW

Hi Beth, I absoluyelu love all of your videos. Theyre so well put together and classy. If you dont mind, where do you get all of your dishware? =)
Aw thanks for that :) So glad you enjoy them! They don't have Twinings where I live. I make my own tea. Persimmon Tea is my favorite with Castella. Castella is a Japanese sponge cake.
LOOKS delicious scones. will try. THANK YOU!!!!
