its obvious isn't it he treats it like his own personal library and the whole show revolved around a single idea that people who run second hand bookshops are often exactly like Bernard
I like to imagine he has forgotten historical manuscripts that would rewrite human history tucked away in his shop He just doesn't know or care they're there
I don't know why people don't understand that Bernard runs the book store to pay for his wine and cigarettes. The abuse is a freebie for the customers. I would love to shop at his store, the challenge would be will I get to buy a book today? I would rather have him than an annoying suck up trying to sell me everything in the store.
I've had this question that I've been asking myself since the day I started watching this show. "If Burnard doesn't like people, why then he run a book shop in the first place?!"
That happens all the time where I work. We have a table with our opening and closing times right on the door. We start work an hour an an half before opening and you get people pressing their faces against the door asking us if we are open. How stupid do you have to be?
I relate to Bernard far more than any healthy, intelligent human being should.
Well what a special little snowflake you are! Imagine relating to a character, you must be truly special.
I think there is a bit of Bernard in all of us. 🙃
are you a snarky bastard alcoholic man? hahahahahahha
Same honestly
Same
This is still my favourite TV show of all time!
"Hello?? Is this the place where you order books from, from where you want to sell them from your bookshop??"
My lolz were heard far and wide XD
could not stop laughing because that's what I always want to tell people when I walk into a store.
Lol yes
"Now go there and await my instructions." ^^

Oh come now. he doesn't hate them. he just wishes they didn't exist :p
He doesn't care if they exist or not as long as they go away
2:19 love this part
Ah, I remember working in retail.
Bernard Black is my spirit animal.
Agreed!
my headcanon for why the shop was still going despite bernard and why people browse there is because bernard has the best selection of books
I like to imagine he has forgotten historical manuscripts that would rewrite human history tucked away in his shop
He just doesn't know or care they're there
2:15 Saying it how it is! Absolute legend.
I can understand his sentiment, but speaking like that to an employee makes one a cunt.
@@fadetoblack1026 On one hand, yes. On the other, sales people can be like that just as well!
I am bernard but without the alcoholism, and I don't know if that makes it better or worse.
2:15 this is my father in a nutshell 😂
I read the title of this video with two words switched that made the meaning very, very different.

My inner self at Best Buy.
My bet is the 2:12 guy is the person he hates the least
That's brilliant! I've always loved the British sense of humor.
I'm an asshole like this at my job, especially to fucking assholes causing problems. How I haven't been fired is beyond me.
That guys hair at 2:24. X,D
"CLOSED"
Hahaha! I read the title of this very wrongly. I was confused about it until I reread the title and realised I mixed up 'Black' and 'hates'.

Why does he ever leave his home if he hates people?
Because we all have to do things we don't like.
That title could have meant something way different.
in what way
ooh sorry i see what you mean now
Does anyone know what is the name of the music that starting at 3:08 ?
I'm not sure but... sounds like Franzl Lang? is it weird that I know this? lol
@@natzzef thanks :))

I misread the title and was a little worried there for a second.
Whats the name of the actor that plays the very angry customer?
Stewart Wright
@@peterdavies2960 Thank you very much, apparently i have pondered this for 7 years :D
Definitely my favorite line. Wish I could use that.
ahh JESUS
Maureen Johnson you.... you.... *stare*
Hilarious!!!!
is it possible Bernard Black is blind?
Touche!
I read the title wrong
*xD*
It is the best comedy
If you rearranged the words in the title, it would be quite racist.
Black hates Bernard people
Good
