Sorry we don't have a written recipe for this! We're currently working on an updated and improved version which will feature in our new book (to be launched in Spring 2018)... So please bear with us until then!
We've been noticing Turmeric Milk showing up on our radar pretty frequently these days so we tried to make it to see what the fuss was about. It blew us away it's like a healthy nutritious hot chocolate that packs such punch.
Turmeric milk is not only high in antioxidants, anti inflammatory compounds, healthy fats (especially when using coconut milk), but also manganese and iron (found in turmeric). In traditional recipes, which include peppercorns, actually enhances the absorption of curcumin (the main component found in turmeric) in our bodies. The ingredients in this recipe actually work in a synergistic fashion, which is fascinating!
All the best,
Dave & Steve.

Whenever I'm ill or have a cold/flu, my Pakistani dad insists on giving me a tablespoon of honey mixed with a tiny bit of turmeric (warmed up) - it tastes notsogood but ALWAYS does the job! It's a brilliant anti bacterial and always gets rid of a sore throat and makes me feel 100% better! :)
golden milk is incredible! try adding black peppercorns along with the spices next time, the compound Piperine found in black pepper enhances the absorption of turmeric and makes it more available to the body ;)
+The Light Wizard Was going to add this but you already did!! This is very important when making turmeric milk....
Thanx guys!
Sounds amazing!
I also recommend taking your Omega-3 supplement with this drink, the turmeric and black pepper make the DHA found in the omega-3 pills more bioavailable to the body! I'm so excited to try your recipe. Thank you happy pear. :)
Black pepper gives me acid reflux do to my chronic gastritis... instead is better to use cayenne pepper.
That's a great recipe for flu days. So sad I found it only now, in March. But considering the weather it might come handy. Thank you guys! I'm not a vegan, more like a vegetarian (occasional chicken-eater, three time a year or so), but I already love all your recipes. I've become addicted. Although some of the ingredients are quite challenging to find where I live, I have subscribed and ready to learn! Thanks again!)) And I love your accent!
Make a paste of the turmeric and store it in your fridge. I use coconut milk and add ghee. You have to have a fat in order for it to be absorbed. I add , ground nutmeg, black pepper & ginger. I sweeten it with maple syrup and top with cinnamon… ❤ I have a cup every night before bed❤
Love numeric milk! However I suggest to not use a metal spoon and never to bring honey to a boiling point. Its delicious and healthy!!
Ugh.......you forgot the black pepper, which helps your body to absorb the turmeric, but because I love your accents I'm subscribing to ya! :)
^^^ What Sage Coventry said ^^^
For the fat soluble curcumin to fully absorb, not only do you need the black pepper, you also need a source of fat (not available in the rice milk used in this video) so you should add some coconut oil to the mix.
Karl Leonard Or ghee!
I use Coconut milk because you need a fat source for the body to benefit from it. I put in black pepper and a teaspoon of cayenne pepper too.
I have this every day, it's amazing. I make up the fresh spices in a glass jar and add a teaspoon to oat milk with fresh turmeric and ginger. So good for you
Oh nice, have you seen specific health benefits from this? We'd love to hear peoples experience with Turmeric milk :D
Guys been suing Turmeric for some time it helps to add some black pepper s this helps the curcumin absorb into the body :-)
What Peter said!
Also, for the fat soluble curcumin to fully absorb, not only do you need the black pepper, you also need a source of fat (not available in the rice milk used in this video) so you should add some coconut oil to the mix.
damn, that looks delicious. Trying this one!
+Brothers Green Eats You guys and The Happy Pear are my two favourite food-based channels- so cool to see you interacting with each other!
I have had Turmeric milk before, as a medicine for throat infection or cough. But your recipe with the wonderful spice twist is just amazing :D
Thank you so much for sharing the happiness :)
WHAT???!!! Who knew? So excited to use this - love using turmeric wherever I can! Thank, guys :)
Going through a cold right now and I'm going to try this :D
I just had surgery and this has helped my recovery go well. Thank you!
Seriously! You guys are awesome. I always drink golden milk if I'm feeling under the weather. Love your videos and your passion! I always look forward to your delicious, healthy food and amazing energy!
I would watch this video 500 times just to hear you talk...lol. But this really looks delicious. I am definitely going to try it. Thank guys!
oh wow, that looks FABULOUS guys! I am going to try it - watching you in Shenzhen, China - you rock!!!
annd subscribeed your enegry is AWESOME - just got the ingredients thanks for this awesome video!
+Stories We Love THanks so much for subscribing. :D
I had never heard of this, but I just made some and it tastes soo good ! And it make you feel so warm as well, it's like you get the heat from turmeric whithout the spiciness... I'm gonna be drinking that a lot this winter :)
Great, thanks! But the recent studies claim that rice milk contains quite a bit of inorganic arsenic (the poisonous form) as it is made from rice bran which retains that from all the water used to water the rice plants. We switched to soy, almond and oat milk, though rice milk was a lot tastier.
I love golden milk! It pure comfort, like hot chocolate and a blanket!
I made a mad concoction last few nights. Home made coconut milk, teaspoon turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, some coconut oil and agave syrup and black pepper. I expect to be Superman soon with all the stories of this milk. Nice alternative to tea and biscuits. 😂
Hahahahahaha gowan Anthony!!!! 😄👍🙌
I saw a similar recipe using those spices for a chai hot chocolate. Looks awesome
Great stuff! I think you forgot the pepper with the Tumeric
Thanks guys! I can't wait to try this! Other than the fresh ginger, I have everything in the house already. I just have to make some fresh rice milk (which is awesome). I tweaked around and discovered how to make my own rice milk and horchata, so I'm in virtual heaven.
There's no better feeling than having all the ingredients in the house :D
Tried this - was very comforting after a cycle in the rain with a cold.
I just made this!! I didn't know what to expect but it was amazing! (I didn't have cardamom or fresh ginger though) but it was still gorgeous!! it is my new tea!!
I was just feeling a bit ill, came across your video on how to make this drink, didn't had all the ingredients, but i tried tried it out! And it was nevertheless delicious! thank you! :D
Ah that's so fab to hear!! 😄💚🙌
You need to add a dash of black pepper to activate the turmeric benefits and also some type of fat like coconut oil or butter for absorption
Omg thank you for this recipe! It looks amazing! Turmeric is fat soluble though, which means our body won't absorb it even it's not taken with fat, so I think I'm going to add coconut oil to mine ^_^ Thank you guys!
Yes, it's always advisable to have it with a bit of oil. I like it with coconut oil or ghee :)
You also need to add a 1/2 tsp of black pepper to increase the absorption of the curcumin in the turmeric, as well as adding the fat source with the coconut oil.
Ohhh did not know about the black pepper!!
I love me some Turmeric milk
Same here, I thought ´disgusting, turmeric milk´and once I tried it, it blew my mind, I love it
Isn't it a beaut! 😄🙌
Wow... I never thought this could be delicious... but it is.
How the fuck have I only just found your channel?!?!? It's bloody incredible!!!!
Daniel Peers i know, same here!!
As strange as they may sound, turmeric milk is absolutely divine. I grew up in India and this is the yummy medicinal drink all us kids got for cold, coughs, headaches and even just as comfort drink.
Now, I live in Dublin and even though hot chocolate with a shot of Bailey's might be a more frequent choice, this one still remains an all time favourite.
Sure to pop in to The Happy Pear whenever I'm around Greystones. Keep up the good work lads!
SPECTACULAR
lovely cups
Could I use demerara sugar or golden syrup instead of honey? I love honey but I'm on a low FODMAP diet so I can't have it anymore.
You should add black pepper to increase the absorption of curcumin.
Nice idea 😄😋🙌
loved it and I added some grated nutmeg.... mmmmm
The cardamom and star anis is a twist! I´ll have to try it with that next time.
how often can you drink this milk? It is so delicious! I want to drink it at least 3 times a day
drinking it now and it is amazing. Thanks for the tip.
You should not boil the honey it should be added after when the milk is cooler, you should add1/4 teaspoon of black pepper to help absorb the turmeric and most importantly add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil
Love your recipes! Looks delicious!
Yummmmm my mum has made this all my life and when I was little we called it golden milk 😊 :)
You just got a new subscriber. Recently discovered tumeric...so many wonders to discover. Thanks for this vid.
Ah cheers Enith! 😄
wow! is that good!!!! perfect for the cold times.
great I ve already tried the Ginger turmeric infusion let me tell you that now i always have Ginger and turmeric at home
If I make a larger batch, do you think it would keep decently in the fridge for a few days?
I'd love to have this in the morning on the way to work, but don't always have time to prep this for myself every morning. Being able to make it ahead of time would be great!
Also, would it be tasty served both hot or cold, or just hot?
Thanks!
I love chopped almonds in mine, nice when u bite into crunchy bits of almonds while drinking hot milk
We're big fans of texture like that in our drinks too. :D
I'm trying this tomorrow morning 😀
Turmeric milk is EVERYTHING. I don't really get the pumpkin spice trend.
Thanks! Going to try this out tonight! :)
This is incredible!!!
It tastes like a chai tea latte. So delicious and sweet :)
Honey should never be heated. It would be better to add honey after it comes off the stove.
Having some of this
Enjoy!!! 😄👍🙌
Turmeric must have black pepper to help digestion.
Dont boil honey.
did mine with homemade cashew nut milk and after boiling it curdled :( tastes lovely but texture is a bit yucky :)
Ah fair play! 😄👍
Cheers!!
yumm this sounds amazing! I need to run to store so I can make this ASAP :)
Thanks Guys that is really good
Hubby and I had this the other night, it was wonderfully wonderful! How often do you drink it? It is ok to drink it almost every night?
yes! :) i dont see why not! Turmeric is great for arteries as well, very healthy!
Absolutely! ENJOY!! 😀👍👍
How much fresh Tumeric? I bought some recently.
How about add some ginger
What was that little star spice he added?
Star Anise!!! :D
making me some asap! ♡ thanx
how do i pick the best coconut milk?
Mmm... I must have missed something. I did turmeric milk this morning and found it bland and tasteless (or I should rather say it tasted like almond milk which is what I've used). Maybe almond milk is too strong, or maybe my turmeric has lost its fragrance. I might try again with soy :-/
Best for heart and to prevent flu, colds is Irish coffee NO LIE. MUST HAVE IRISH WHISKEY. ONLY ONE A DAY NEEDED.
It needs some fat and pepper i use coconut oil, without that it's tasty but almost ineffective
Add butter, coconut oil and pepper to that.
Awesome - going to make it right now - thanks "Pear boys" ;-)
Don’t heat up honey
Recipe???
are they twins ??
Identical twins 😘😄👍
OMG love this love you guys xxx
Can you please write out this recipe for me?
could I strain this and have it cold?
+Ollie Ratcliffe Yes or you could just add turmeric and ginger powder to the milk with some honey and mix together, it's great for fighting the flu
are they Irish?🍀💚
Yes, they are from from Greystones in County Wicklow!
I made it. Hot damn, this stuff is tasty
Did anyone catch that at 2:07? LOLL he literally cut him off mid sentence. Poor guy was just trying to explain the health benefits.

Add honey at the end. Don’t boil honey.
