Sorry we don't have a written recipe for this! We're currently working on an updated and improved version which will feature in our new book (to be launched in Spring 2018)... So please bear with us until then!
We've been noticing Turmeric Milk showing up on our radar pretty frequently these days so we tried to make it to see what the fuss was about. It blew us away it's like a healthy nutritious hot chocolate that packs such punch.
Turmeric milk is not only high in antioxidants, anti inflammatory compounds, healthy fats (especially when using coconut milk), but also manganese and iron (found in turmeric). In traditional recipes, which include peppercorns, actually enhances the absorption of curcumin (the main component found in turmeric) in our bodies. The ingredients in this recipe actually work in a synergistic fashion, which is fascinating!
    All the best,
    Dave & Steve.

Whenever I'm ill or have a cold/flu, my Pakistani dad insists on giving me a tablespoon of honey mixed with a tiny bit of turmeric (warmed up) - it tastes notsogood but ALWAYS does the job! It's a brilliant anti bacterial and always gets rid of a sore throat and makes me feel 100% better! :)

golden milk is incredible! try adding black peppercorns along with the spices next time, the compound Piperine found in black pepper enhances the absorption of turmeric and makes it more available to the body ;)

Black pepper gives me acid reflux do to my chronic gastritis... instead is better to use cayenne pepper.

That's a great recipe for flu days. So sad I found it only now, in March. But considering the weather it might come handy. Thank you guys! I'm not a vegan, more like a vegetarian (occasional chicken-eater, three time a year or so), but I already love all your recipes. I've become addicted. Although some of the ingredients are quite challenging to find where I live, I have subscribed and ready to learn! Thanks again!)) And I love your accent!

Make a paste of the turmeric and store it in your fridge. I use coconut milk and add ghee. You have to have a fat in order for it to be absorbed. I add , ground nutmeg, black pepper & ginger. I sweeten it with maple syrup and top with cinnamon… ❤ I have a cup every night before bed❤

^^^ What Sage Coventry said ^^^
For the fat soluble curcumin to fully absorb, not only do you need the black pepper, you also need a source of fat (not available in the rice milk used in this video) so you should add some coconut oil to the mix.

Great, thanks! But the recent studies claim that rice milk contains quite a bit of inorganic arsenic (the poisonous form) as it is made from rice bran which retains that from all the water used to water the rice plants. We switched to soy, almond and oat milk, though rice milk was a lot tastier.

You need to add a dash of black pepper to activate the turmeric benefits and also some type of fat like coconut oil or butter for absorption

  • @tidawei3633
    @tidawei3633 8 років тому +1

Omg thank you for this recipe! It looks amazing! Turmeric is fat soluble though, which means our body won't absorb it even it's not taken with fat, so I think I'm going to add coconut oil to mine ^_^ Thank you guys!

As strange as they may sound, turmeric milk is absolutely divine. I grew up in India and this is the yummy medicinal drink all us kids got for cold, coughs, headaches and even just as comfort drink.
Now, I live in Dublin and even though hot chocolate with a shot of Bailey's might be a more frequent choice, this one still remains an all time favourite.
Sure to pop in to The Happy Pear whenever I'm around Greystones. Keep up the good work lads!

If I make a larger batch, do you think it would keep decently in the fridge for a few days?
I'd love to have this in the morning on the way to work, but don't always have time to prep this for myself every morning. Being able to make it ahead of time would be great!
Also, would it be tasty served both hot or cold, or just hot?
