This is the perfect ending to the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. This was the last film from Gore Verbinski, the first director of the films. The stories of William and Elizabeth have had their own tragic conclusion that rounds out their arcs nicely. Also the name of the movie is At Worlds End, and the major themes of the movie is how the era of pirates is coming to and end, the end of a world ruled by pirates. And now even if they defeated Becket, they only gave themselves just a little more time before their era inevitably comes to an end. Barbosa is again the captain of the Pearl with Jack left in the dust, mirroring his eternal chase for the Black Pearl and for freedom. As well as the reflection with Barbosa again ending with Jack pulling another slip on him, proving he could still never beat Captain Jack Sparrow. With him escaping on a shitty little boat (again just like the first film), and off on another adventure with his own personal flag, showing that he will still follow his even on his own. And also singing the original theme park ride as a little reference to how all of this somehow started from an amusement park ride. Maybe Jack did find the fountain of youth and fulfilled his dream of being the last pirate, outliving all his friends and rivals. Perhaps letting us fantasize that maybe, somewhere out there he's still sailing the seas. Achieving pure freedom, riding of into the sunset, forever chasing it. Then they made the sequel........
i think we can all collectively agree that the parts 4 and 5 do not exist. The 4th wasn't that bad but they just added a lot of new characters and suddenly appeared a girl that was the love of jack's life altough she was never mentioned in the trilogy. Also the whole theme of Will and Flying Dutchman kind of dissapeard... Idk 4th one wasn't bad but was just a separate movie And the 5th one.....let's not talk about the 5th one
Its like if they made a sequel to Terminator 2 therefore answering if destiny is real or not…oh wait bad example. Its like if they made a sequel to Inception therefore answering if Cobb was still in the dream or not
I thought PotC 5 wasn’t that bad. I felt like it was more of Barbossa’s movie then Jack’s movie, but that flashback scene was amazing and the best part of the film
Matthew noack Agreed. So I just place the forth one entirely out of my mind. It really had nothing to do with the original trilogy anyhoo. As for the fifth, Im hoping they do it differently like Sparrow and the Pearl showing up in the modern world. Now THAT would certainly be interesting.
Arguably my favorite part of the series. The humming of Jack and the gentle accordion in the background, in his humble little dinghy and raising his humble pirate flag.
The tales about Barbossa being a man so evil that even hell spat him back out and then seeing him interact with Jack the monkey and calling him "daddy's boy "is actually hilarious
I now understand the ending with his compass. Jack's compass points to where you want the most. At first Jack's compass points of going back since he wants rum the most. So he picks up his rum, remove that feeling what makes his compass points to where he wants to go
They were going to make a prequel trilogy of how Jack got the Black Pearl but they waited to long to make that movie. So they abandoned it because it did not do well at the BO so then they decided to make a sequel which is the 5th movie.
I love when a series ends the way it began, I consider the original Pirates trilogy to be the only real Pirates movies, everything after that is just fanfiction
I think that On Stranger Tides worked pretty well as a stand-alone film, but in the scale of the franchise, it just didn’t really fit in it. Dead Men Tell No Tales was ok, but most importantly it brought the focus back to the Turners.
@@yankeeforcestudios5431 That's probably the nicest and fairest comment that anyone has said about the last 2 PotC movies (since they get a lot of flak on here) :)
@@dammitcarlos The problem with the latest film is Jack's character. What I love about it is that films 1, 2 and 3 show a cycle. By the time the trilogy finishes we see Jack in the exact same position as he was in Curse of the Black Pearl. It's just satisfying to know he will continue on his adventures and probably cock up somebody else's lives along the way !
kelly wilson whitehead I don't mind it but it kind of ruins what made the first three great. There's only so much of Jack I can handle. Every now and then the story needs to flesh out other characters and in the fourth film it just doesn't do that.
Calypso is Jacks guardian. She gave him the Pearl and the Compass. My theory is that he and Calypso were close in the past. My theory is He rescued her from Davy Jones locker after they bound her. He had been to the Locker twice when he mentioned there not being rocks before. He freed Calypso and she’s been indebted to him.
Barbossa: Behold the Fountain of Youth. [Sees hole in map] Barbossa: Sparrow 😑. You can tell he wasn't really surprised. But honestly, with all they've been through, he should of seen that coming.
yeah they were stationed on davy jones ship then they swung over to the black pearl then they saw davy jones die and his ship sink so they just snuck into the black pearl and found pirate clothes when they were all cheering they came up to the deck and cheered with the pirates and said random pirate things because they had no idea what pirates say
A cool detail is that when Jack first gets introduced to the audience in Curse of the Black Pearl he’s in a small dinghy by himself, and at the end of At World’s End, he’s yet again by himself in a dinghy off to his next adventure lol. This was the true ending to the Pirates franchise imo.
I’d never condone piracy itself, but back then, one has to admire that it took actual skill to sail a ship/boat. Makes me wish instead of more movies, maybe Disney could release prequel novels of sparrows adventures. Cause In the first movie, Elizabeth said there’s many stories.
1:02 I like to pretend the fountain of youth was just an implied off screen island that Jack found successfully on his dingy and was NEVER shown on screen. This movie is where POTC TRULY ends

What I love about it is that films 1, 2 and 3 show a cycle. By the time the trilogy finishes we see Jack in the exact same position as he was in Curse of the Black Pearl. It's just satisfying to know he will continue on his adventures and probably cock up somebody else's lives along the way !
Michael Andrews Exactly how I feel. The series ends right where it began. Barbosa had the pearl and Jack had his dinghy. A most satisfying ending :)
I thought the fourth film was good not great but not bad I liked it but I do see its flaws but I mostly try to ignore its
flaws and watch the movie
kelly wilson whitehead I don't mind it but it kind of ruins what made the first three great. There's only so much of Jack I can handle. Every now and then the story needs to flesh out other characters and in the fourth film it just doesn't do that.
For me this is yet a happy, sad yet exciting ending
Calypso is Jacks guardian. She gave him the Pearl and the Compass. My theory is that he and Calypso were close in the past. My theory is He rescued her from Davy Jones locker after they bound her. He had been to the Locker twice when he mentioned there not being rocks before. He freed Calypso and she’s been indebted to him.
I always hated that Jack didn’t end up with the Pearl. I mean, it’s his ship. But apparently, I’m in the minority.
Well, be happy that Jack managed to get the Black Pearl back in Dead Men tell no Tales, which honestly imo is also a great send-off for the series.
Ladys and gentlemen this is how Jack sparrow's journey started and ended, T H E E N D
Barbossa: Behold the Fountain of Youth. [Sees hole in map]
Barbossa: Sparrow 😑.
You can tell he wasn't really surprised. But honestly, with all they've been through, he should of seen that coming.
Jack cuts it off, in case Barbossa stole the Black Pearl again...
Smart move Jack!
I miss THIS era of Disney
Same! Back when Disney wasn’t woke, and didn’t spill out LGBTQ, and BLM propaganda. If only Disney was still like this.
Gore Verbinski = Pirates of the Caribbean
Gore Verbinski + Ted Elliot + Terry Rossio + Hans Zimmer = POTC
Yup
A perfect end for a perfect trilogy
Wait a sec, the guys behind Pintel and Ragetti were the dumb soldiers from the first movie?! Awesome
yeah they were stationed on davy jones ship then they swung over to the black pearl
then they saw davy jones die and his ship sink so they just snuck into the black pearl and found pirate clothes
when they were all cheering they came up to the deck and cheered with the pirates and said random pirate things because they had no idea what pirates say
and then they became Barbossas highest mates in some years. Btw, their names are Mullroy & Murtogg.
@@Aldiraider are they still alive
@@Usher2660 havent you seen Dead Men tell no tales? or didnt you recognice them.
@@Aldiraider I have seen it maybe I just missed them
The trilogy introduced him with him on a dinghy and it finished with him on a dinghy.
Always love this ending especially. The end music
Johnny after the end of the trial
A cool detail is that when Jack first gets introduced to the audience in Curse of the Black Pearl he’s in a small dinghy by himself, and at the end of At World’s End, he’s yet again by himself in a dinghy off to his next adventure lol. This was the true ending to the Pirates franchise imo.
1:10 the face you make when YOU know you got fucking owned
Barbossa isn't even mad or surprised he's more like "I should have seen this coming".
one of the best scenes ever,,,you might not be the strongest but always find the way to make it...
1:10 "Jack Sparrow was here, Barbossa is a loser!" xD
Jack: Damn Hector took my ship again. Oh well, good thing I took the charts
Now they were even
1:10-1:17 the fact Barboosa is not mad but seems annoyed that Jack cut the map out.
2:12 was the best scene!!
I literally played it 100 times………still playing😂
I’d never condone piracy itself, but back then, one has to admire that it took actual skill to sail a ship/boat. Makes me wish instead of more movies, maybe Disney could release prequel novels of sparrows adventures. Cause In the first movie, Elizabeth said there’s many stories.
0:05 oh God that face he makes is priceless when he sees barbossa leaving with the Pearl
davy jones: damn you jack sparrow! . barbossa: sparrow
Pirates life for me!!
This was the last good pirates of the carribean. :( this was the true ending of jack sparrows journey.
I totally agree. 2 & 3 are some of the most underrated films ever.
The shit is that the 4th movie isnt based on the other 3. Its just like another movie
thats what they wanted i mean they did well.i got bored by will and wlizabeth we got to see jacky with a girl master gibs and barbosa thats the best!
No its just will is now the captain of the dutchman and then they just throw the whole story away
No they didnt as we already know dutchmans captain is bound to move dead souls in the sea to the after life and thats what will will do , end of sfory
That’s because it was based on the book, which wasn’t originally PotC related
to me, Pirate of the Caribbean is just end here. theres no On strangers tide and Salazars revenge.
He looks like he is about to cry at 0:05.
perfect ending to a great trilogy. no further entries were made
1:02 I like to pretend the fountain of youth was just an implied off screen island that Jack found successfully on his dingy and was NEVER shown on screen. This movie is where POTC TRULY ends
This is Pirate of the Caribbean !!
In my heart there is no place for 4 & 5 !
Great music period!
" Drink up, me hearties - Yo ho " 🤘
Love how Barbossa isn’t even pissed anymore!
it is confirm that jack can be anywhere in the ocean
The sound effect they used for the moment the map shows the fountain of youth complements the score so well
