the only problem I had, from an anatomy point of view, was that they animated Jack's jaw bones as if he had lips. They got Barbosa right and most of the other skele-pirates. But Jack and 2 others had their bones move as lips and I can't help but stare at how weird it looks haha
There isn’t an issue with Jack, he still has a bunch of muscle around his jaw and front teeth. You can even see the muscle move over his jaws and teeth. Were his entire upper and lower jaw devoid of any flesh at all, you’d be correct, however there’s just enough for that animation to work.
This was a concession the animators decided to make in pixar's Coco, the skeleton's bones move as lips as they speak. It's not anatomically correct but it makes a huge difference in how the skeletons can emote and dictate.
@@ryanonwheels2174 Again, they don’t move. Look around the teeth, there’s still a fair amount of flesh and muscles around his jaw and teeth, which you can see move when he speaks. While at first glance, it appears as though the teeth are moving like lips, they aren’t, which can be seen whenever you see one of the skeleton pirates speak.
I've always wondered - from the pirate's point of view, why surrender? You're just going to hang with zero chance of reprieve, so better to go out fighting.
True, but also they've been immortals for a long time. I believe they wanted to be mortal again and to really feel things before dying not just directly dying so they were shocked that the curse was broken right there and then and that they can actually feel again.
That's just called being human. They're plenty of times humans would rather just surrender, even if the punishment is death, then just die immediately.
Barbosa was a perfect villain IMO. Yes he was evil... but he was relatable. He just wanted his suffering to end. At that time, we didnt really know how much of his "evil" was because of him or how much was because of the curse and not being able to feel anything but he greed from the gold?
In my opinion Commodore Norrington overshadows it by far, dude climbed up then proceeded to blast Koehler in the jaw nonchalantly then goes straight to sword fighting without flinching after it didn’t work.

"I'm gonna teach you the meaning of pain!"
"Do you like pain?"
WHAM!
"Try wearing a corset!"
🙄 corsets are legit comfy tho: ua-cam.com/video/fB4FVq8MltI/v-deo.html
Just like an ill fitting pair of shoes tightlaced, if you don't have one that fits you exactly, its gonna suck
@@yeeaahhzz Good point. I imagine a corset that's well-fitted and adjusted is much more comfortable than one that isn't. I've never had cause to wear one myself, though I do recall wearing a back brace in the past that was confining around my middle section.
@@Stussmeister Ah, humans and back issues is just one of those wonderful evolutionary faults. But your anecdote does remind me of this vid regarding modern daily corset wear for health: ua-cam.com/video/rExJskBZcW0/v-deo.html
@@yeeaahhzz Indeed. My wearing a back brace was many, many years ago, and while I don't have any current back issues to speak of, I am currently working through another health issue which requires an injection every few weeks, and have discovered that not taking pain meds after the injection can lead to back spasms.
I was so obsessed with pirates because of this movie I watched it when it first came out in theaters, I was so obsessed that I dressed up as a pirate almost every Halloween. I was two years old when I went to see the movie, the theater was even selling merchandise for the movie such as t-shirts, hats, and plastic swords. Even though I was so young when I first watched this movie, it was the most memorable day of my early childhood.
"couldn't resist mate".
My favourite line.
Funny my husband still doesn't have a clue where the line he's heard for years came from 😅
The greatest movie ever 😊
mine is "sea turtles mate"

I remember watching this for the first time and remembered that jack took one of the coins to even the fight between him and Barbossa it was a great trick and a awesome fight
2:51 the smile CLASSIC 😄
2:46 the scene of Undead Jack playing with the coin lives rent free in my head. The nonchalant, playful nature of how he fiddles with the coin in the middle of a fight is probably perfect encapsulation of his character. On top of just a very satisfying animation, of course.
Just realized Barbossa wasn't the only pirate in the cave. Those three with the spear through their bellies must have died rather horribly.
Worse, one of them had a bomb that was shoved into the chest of the one in the middle then moved away from the moonlight
Movies like these reminds me How Incredible the Action scenes were. 💯
2:46 why he looks so badass in this scene?
1:03 that noise that dude made🤣🤣🤣I know I shouldn’t laugh but that noise was funny
"The ship is ours, gentlemen"
I just love the way he says that line
"HUZZAH!"
i love the part when the guy rings the bell in his dying breath. timestamp: 2:05
Aside from the distant gunshots I feel like had this sailor not rang the bell to alert Commodore Norrington and his platoon, every single crewmen would get slaughtered entirely.
I remember being absolutely enthralled by the scoring for this movie. Zimmer and Badelt did such a brilliant job.

I was 10 years old when I went to see this in theaters I’m now almost 30 and I still get the same feeling when I watch this movie!
Was 12, saw it in theatre. then when it came out on DVD I had a ritual of coming home from school, making 2 packs of ramen and watching it. Daily for AWHILE
And Keira was 18 at this point😮
@@blackedoutusername8467 looks like you found the fountain!
the only problem I had, from an anatomy point of view, was that they animated Jack's jaw bones as if he had lips.
Yeah Jack's looking more animated. I think to keep the likeness of Johnny Depp
@@ryanonwheels2174 and it's not his bone moving like stated earlier...
I've always wondered - from the pirate's point of view, why surrender? You're just going to hang with zero chance of reprieve, so better to go out fighting.
They were stunned by the fact that the curse is broken the only thing they relied on at least thats what i think
They also have a chance to escape if they surrender.
Do you think your gf would rather be with you than an NFL star QB? At some point you just have to settle and realize it’s over.
Movie was perfect 2 decades back.
Will always be.
Recommend, a really good piece of cinematography.
Makes sense now why Ragetti was so adamant about keeping THAT eye. Love this movie so much
It wasn't originally written that way, but it does work
I love it when Disney wasn't hesitant to play dark themes
Barbosa was a perfect villain IMO. Yes he was evil... but he was relatable. He just wanted his suffering to end. At that time, we didnt really know how much of his "evil" was because of him or how much was because of the curse and not being able to feel anything but he greed from the gold?
He's still a pirate and a mutineer, and that was before he was ever cursed.
The scene where jack sparrow runs in and out of the moonlight is great.
1:07 that pistol draw is pretty cool
In my opinion Commodore Norrington overshadows it by far, dude climbed up then proceeded to blast Koehler in the jaw nonchalantly then goes straight to sword fighting without flinching after it didn’t work.
I watched this last night and i was OBSESSED
Something about the way the pirates sneak onto the ship and silently assassinate the troops one by one as they make their way through the upper decks of the ship always stuck with me. It’s super creepy.
For some reason I was looking for Sora, Donald, and Goofy to pop up right at the coin flipping part 😂

Cant believe I was 13 when it came out, such an epic movie.
I was -1 💀
After glance of thumbnail, couldn't resist mate😂😂😂😂😂
I remember watching Johnny on David Letterman and they played the clip of him and Williams sword fight towards the beginning of the movie. I was so excited for the movie and was disappointed they didn’t play the whole thing. Man I miss the 2000s.
1:17 watch where Sparrow is looking xD
2:50 Try pause it. The Way he is looking at us. ITS SO FREEKY!!
I like how such a good movie still has better cgi than most modern tv shows and movies
Imagine the first thing you feel after years of not being able to feel anything is your own blood spilling from your body and then the cold hand of death takes hold of you.
*That’s rough buddy.*
Symbolic of how most of us are what we are falsely thinking is our living of life. Deadened senses until we truely become awakened spiritually to our higher purpose and potential.
Barbossa saying he feels cold during his death in kingdom hearts 2 actually made me shiver
00:11 pretty smart statement for someone who can't read.
wish they would add pirates of the carribeans on Netflix i dont have disney
i watched Dead Man's Chest (with extended scenes) on Netflix back in 2019 but when I tried to rewatch it again a year later, all the Pirates movies were gone
The latest one was on netflix for a while, but I know how you feel. It's ridiculous they don't just make a huge variety available there.
its because Pirates of the Caribbean is a Disney property and Disney+ started in 2020 so they probs take what they own
Now that Disney has its own streaming service for $70 a year 99% of their stuff will only be on there.
Just pirate the series
I LOVE IN THAT SCENE WHEN JOHNNY DEEP SAYS COULDT RESIST MATE LEGEND OF THE MAN
I like how Jack doesn't lower his gun until Barbossa realizes he has lost.
Even as a rotted corpse Jack manages to be very dashing!
There's a lot of charm put into the cgi.
Ah yes... early 2000s when it wasn't entirely rare that a GOOD movie was made... I miss the beginning of the century.......
I was born a year after this was made and I honestly miss the early 2000’s too. Those were the days!
I cant believe I was 4 when this movie came out, truly ahead of many generations to come
Why would edit out Barbossa's last words?!?!
They're the best part of this entire scene
I remember the first time I saw this movie, I was so scare of what the curse did, but also so fascinated, so I wanted to look away, but I couldn't.
Awesome, epic, savage n bloody cool fight between Jack Sparrow n Capt.Barbossa.💥🔥💀😯Always love Pirates of the Caribbean.💀💀
Fun fact, this film came out the year I was born.
I’m going to university in a little over a month.
nice jack you always know how to suprise us out of nowhere
1:41 Evil Pirate Screaming 1:43 Punching in the Face 🏴☠️🔥😂😂
Captain Barbossa: Finally... I can rest in peace.
Producers and Directors: *Says who? You're coming back for another 4 films mate.*
Awe you cut out my favorite quote!
"Me I'm dishonest. And a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly, it's the honest ones you should look out for. Because you can never know when someone will do something incredibly... Stupid..."
Daily reminder that corsets were not painful, they were actually comfortable and fulfilled the purpose of bras
Tightlacing definitely isn't comfortable. Wear a corset wrong and you will absolutely pass out. Wear it right, and sure maybe its irritating but id prefer it to whatever that pirate was about to do any day lol
I hear also that they were better for your back than bras?
@@dsdy1205 corset are actually much worse then bras nowaday, they can loosen as the day goes by and removing them is a chores. plus the heat, oh man. Other then to look slim and appealing, they are just for show. Unless you got a tailor made one, its not like buying shoes from thrift store and you got to update the corset each month or 2 because your body is ever-changing.
Don't ask me how I know.
Well yes and no
@@AndroidNoir-L06k how do you know tho?
Honestly, as a 2003 Movie, the CGI is so well done
I remember the first time watching this I was hiding and my father was laughing at the movie the entire time 😅
They cut some of the best lines out! “He didn’t waste it,” and, “I feel…cold,” are iconic as hell!
The KH2 rendition of this is pretty cool
*Jack tires of sword fight and drops his sword*
Jack: enough of this then
*pulls out pistol*
Jack: What say we call it, a draw?
Barbosa: How many times do I have to tell ya Jack?
*Jack throws coins and shoots*
*Barbosa laughs*
Will: Laugh while you can Barbosa!
*drops the bloodied coins*
Barbosa: I feel... cold
Right?!
Was expecting the cursed ones to just look at their hands and go
"WE'RE FREEEEEE" and start running around
The peak of Her Majesty's soldiers.
Love the expression when he said PARLAY, really hilarious. 😀😀😀😀😀
I wonder why barbosa had that apple in his hand when he died lol
I guess once the curse was broken the first thing he was going to do was bite into the first real food he's had in years. And being able to actually taste it. And it not turning to ashes in his mouth.
Barbosso is quite funny person. In the first film he wants to become mortal. In the second film he is dead. In the third film he visits lands of the dead for second time and in the fourth film he is searching for immortality again.
Idc what anyone says undead pirates will always be a sick theme despite it being a early 2000s trope. Immortal badass junkies war at sea. That’s dope.
One of the greatest twists in movie history, nobody and I mean NOBODY saw that twist coming!!!...
I feel....cold.
Why did you cut that?!
Cuz they gay
