This one I seen just driving around out of the corner of my eye & decided to ask if she would sell it to me. I asked is she'd let it go for $10, she said $15, I gladly paid $12. My first 525 was rust bucket on Craigslist I bought for $15. My 2nd 525 my wife brought home from a morning out yardsaleing, very little rust she paid $3. What a good wife!
Back to the rust removal question. My method of choice on these heaters is I bought at Sam's Club a box of Sctoch Brite green scouring pads. They do a good job of knocking off the rust while being gentel on the metal under the rust.
Hi,i just bought a little Florence Heater this morning at a market in Adelaide,Australia,it is quite rusted, but the problem is that the little winder does'nt work, and it need's a wick,i really don't know the first thing about fixing it up,was wondering if yo could advise me,regard's Carol!
Nothing major, it's going slower than I thought it would. I've taken it apart & used electrolsis to remove some of the rust. I've cleaned the glass with glass cleaner but not satisified yet, it is smoked stained. I plan on scrubing the inside with a salt & water combo to see it I can make it sparkle.
I bought one like yours from an antique shop. It’s got some damaged spots here and there but it cleaned up nice. I trimmed the wick, and fired it up. It’s beautiful, dings and all.
