    I bought my perfection kerosene heater at a yard sale for something like $12.00 bucks ! It was brand new and the lady selling it didn't even know what it was . I haven't used it yet but something tells me I will this winter after the corona virus economic depression kicks in . If it does I'll be ready . Thanks for your video it's great !

    I love seeing a heater/stove that does not have alcohol fuel shooting through the top of your stove and sooting up your pot. I love that you can heat up something without worrying about ruining your pot, and the food inside the pot.

    I just picked up a 525m for 50 bucks. I knew what I wanted for back up heat. These lol guys put out an insane amount of heat for what they are. I burn k-1 or off road diesel.. pull burner out to fill, pop back in n fire stove up outside for 2 mins. Never let run dry or fill hot period. Should be run all the way up even though it's tempting to turn it down. These heated most of the Homes in the old days.... They made kitchen stoves also. Make sure to get a cotton wick, not fiberglass. Do not knock it over. Best lil stove for emergency heat or a cabin. I heated a 14x70 mobile home all winter in 2015 in MD... Never let us Down. Get a co2 detector and keep a window cracked. Enjoy

    I loved your video, and you've sold me on diesel fuel. I used my kerosene heater a couple of winters ago, but when I saw a gallon of kerosene would cost me ten bucks, I lost interest. I fired up the little guy on diesel Thursday morning. So far, I've run it for fourteen hours and still have a half gallon of diesel left.

    Perfections run about 13,000 BTU. With diesel, it may be a tad lower. On the wick height - the height is VERY important for mitigating smoke. Diesel is basically #2 fuel oil and Perfections could run on #1 or #2 oil. I have a half dozen Perfections and a pair of Aladdins - the latter are much pickier about fuel. Also - I think craigslist of Facebook marketplace are better options for getting them.

    • @Jollyprez

      @@abuntdentlife I have one of each running right now. The Aladdins are more finicky. I find that I have to VERY carefully trim the wick, and do so more often, though in tiny increments. They can start to emit odors more readily.
      BUT, you can refill the Aladdin without turning it off. This particular Aladdin has been going 72 hours straight. BUT, is now starting to smell a little.
      Tomorrow morning I'll turn it off, trim the wick, and relight it.
      Changing the wick on the Aladdin is more difficult as well, though not nearly as hard as many of the Japanese radiant heaters.
      The Perfections have to be turned-off to refill the reservoir. They can go 12 hours, so I do the refill process at 10am and 10pm.
      The wicks are 1/2 the price of the Aladdins and very straightforward to install.
      Gun to my head? I'll take the Perfections. ( I have 7 perfections ( 5 in operable condition ) and 2 Aladdins ( both operable ). BUT, I didn't score the Aladdins until 2 years ago, and haven't looked for any more.

    You can take the cloth out of the wick carrier and put it on the original carrier, my new wicks kept jamming up and the only way to make it work was to transfer the cloth back to the original old style carrier which now works smooth as silk. It's actually easy and held on by two tabs on the inside of the rivet. ebay sales just the cloth for far less then the cost of one with a metal carrier. I posted a video on UA-cam, with details on this.

    I'm not knowledgeable in this area, but these seem crude. It's like they're just a big oil lamp. Would they burn hotter and more efficiently if they were more like the kerosene burners from Japan, and maybe elsewhere, with attachments on top of the burner that get hot and further combust the fuel? No? How much BTU do these produce?

With a tin funnel vent that pipes out the window . Keep some baking soda at a minimum , just in case . Good idea to keep an extinguisher especially if you'll have animals or kids around it ... Just my two cents . Nice oven .

    • @masterdebater8757
      @masterdebater8757 4 роки тому +1

      @@ohUredneckOn these type of heaters the diameter of the wick is the limit to BTU output so look in the stores for a wick that's between known 10k and 23k heaters (guessing around 5 inches for 15k BTU) then find out what heater it is for but I doubt you find one in the middle. 1 thing to note is that diesel is 4k btu more per gallon than kerosene and costs around $.40 less. With that said one cannot forget about #1 kerosene( AKA, JetFuel, AKA K1) this fuel is generally drastically marked up and produced separately than #2kerosene and diesel by extra refinement steps. So if one was to say mix 1 gallon #2kerosene with 4 gallons of modern on-road or off-road diesel (only differing in a tiny amount of red dye) they would be increasing the BTU output of the heater by 3k BTU. I don't suggest the content creators additive of 91% isopropyl because the other 9% is water... If your going to cut Diesel do it with 100% grade fuel source that is slightly more flammable than Diesel to instigate a faster start up of said heater. Also suggest the use of a catalytic sock if your going to convert to diesel. These are only about $20 and worth the effect to gain some safety. Also to note that winter grade Deisel is already cut with Kerosene for the same purposes helping efficient burn, easier start up in cold weather, speed warm up time, and reduce particulate emissions during diesels long warm up time. The not burning diesel argument is well out dated and goes back over 50 years. The truth is modern low sulfur diesel doesn't have the ailments that spurred this argument long ago and since 2010 the grade of diesel has been suitable for use in these types of heaters but it does need a modifier to instigate a quick start up for a clean burn of the diesel. I may have over estimated with the 4:1 diesel to Kerosene and more research never hurts but the 4:1 should be a safe starting point while reducing the fuel costs and increasing the BTU output. I have typed enough for a reply to a 3 year old comment I hope this info finds you well and helps in some way.
