Smo Key, there was a story I read about where dime entered a guitar store and saw a kid playing a guitar, the child was there with his father looking to pick up a guitar but unfortunately the father didn't have enough money, dime stepped in and bought the kid a guitar, amplifier, and I believe even a case for the guitar. He definitely was a class act!
I might be a little late, but here's my opinion: I'm sure he was a good person from hearing all these good stories including Dimebag. It felt like he was such a nice and good friend to the musicians, friends, family he was friends with. His stories are such heartwarming, wholesome, adorable and cute. For me, he was talented and absolutely kindhearted from hearing all these stories.
Out of all these "Remembering Dime" videos this one tops them all imo. Scott actually knew the guy and it sounds like they were real close, two amazing guitar players and metal gods!
im from Mexico and i whatch pantera whit metallica and when pantera finish is set Dimebag buy like 100 beers and share it whit the fans it was fuckin awesome
I love the song Walk, that was the first Pantera song I ever heard, and I was just pumped. What's amazing is that the main riff sounded like 4 notes instead of just three once the drums started the first time I heard it. We miss you Dime.
I saw Pantera and Anthrax play in Lubbock, TX when I was 15 years old. After 25 years of seeing/playing concerts, that is still the best show I ever saw in my life.
I saw Pantera live at Ozzfest back in 1996. Phil smoked a blunt with the dude who had been standing next to me, and Dime tossed a pick at me. It hit me on the forehead, and bounced into my friends shirt pocket. I never saw it again. Still-was one of the greatest shows I've ever seen. I'll never forget how amazed I was at him, and I'll never forget how crushed I was to hear he'd been killed. RIP DIme.
A highschool(would be class of 08) friend of mine had a dimebag pick. His dads friend saw them live back in the day. For some reason the guy gave the pick to him. He only knew about dimebag b.c of me. He was a strictly rap and hip hop listener. When dime passed I made a screen name (lol aim hahahahah) thedimesdead. Naturally "what's that mean?" He knew who dime was after that, maybe he only cared b.c his name was dimebag? Idk. If I remember correctly it was an orange pick with a logo on it that i cant remember. They guy may have even met dime and the pick was given to him backstage. There was back story I can't remember. My friend said he was gonna give it to me, i had it in my hands and he changed his mind. This had to have been 2006-2007ish. Next time I see him(been over 5 years) I'm gonna ask for it.
Very fitting tribute to him. I think we should keep talking about him, and his music. He should never be forgotten. Dimebag was the very last person on the earth, who this should have happened to. All he did were nice things for people. Genius guitar player, and a diamond of a person. Loved him.
@@susangrimes6451 the comment is from 5 years ago when I had a bad taste in music, and no I probably couldn’t have created it because I’m not a guitarist and even if I did I wouldn’t release it because it’s not that good ahahaha
That tour he's talking about, I was at the Seattle stop of that tour, 20 Nov 97 at Mercer Arena. I'd made an acquaintance at the KISS Reunion Tour stop May 5th at Key Arena & he had connections to Pantera. My first time attending a M&G, my friend had brought me & 3 other people to the show (including Eddie Vedder). Everyone but Phil showed up for the M&G, was awesome. Got 2 photos with Dime even. BC of our connection, when the M&G was finished, Dime specifically told the security not to throw us out bc he had some stuff to take care of & he would send for us. After everyone left, guess who comes ambling down the hallway to the M&G, late (as usual, I'm guessing?) Scott Ian. There were only the 5 of us at that point & I took full advantage to talk to one of my heroes without having to wait in line. Shortly afterwards, we were summoned to Pantera's dressing room (still no Phil though). Turns out, the "stuff" he had to take care of was Dime setting up a spread for the 5 of us in their dressing room. As he literally told us as we were walking in, "I got two bottles of Crown, two cases of Coors Light & a case of Pepsi for the folks who ain't drinkin', fuck it, my booze is your booze." This experience lasted probably 90 minutes but it was the most surreal 90 minutes I've ever fucking lived through in my entire 48 years on this planet. Apart from getting photos with 3 of Pantera's road crew (Big Val, The Cat & Tongs), there are two memories that stand out the most to me: I got a personal, one-on-one lesson from Dime on how to properly mix a Black Tooth Grin, just because I'd asked him, and about 30min later, standing within arms reach of both Scott and Dime together (with maybe 2 or 3 other people there taking part in the discussion) listening to the two of them commiserating about what a pile of shit Metallica's ReLoad is (remember, this was Nov 97). That's the only time I got starstruck the whole entire night. I almost chimed in with a comment but I stopped myself. Apart from the fact that I hadn't heard anything from ReLoad besides "Memory Remains", the realization of the situation set in & all I could think to myself was "dude, either one of these guys could probably get James Hetfield on the phone right now if they wanted to. Ain't a damn thing I could possibly add to the conversation that either of these guys would have the slightest interest in hearing. I'd be better served shutting the fuck up & listening to the masters." I'd just bought 3: Watch It Go like a week before this show, so I was caught up on all the stuff they'd put out at the time. I'm here to tell you from personal fucking experience: the way Dimebag was portrayed in the videos and the things the people who knew him say about what he was like, as friendly & outgoing as he was & how he loved to party, but more importantly, how he liked to share his good times with the people around him, it was all 100% true. In that moment I said to myself "this is otherworldly, and it's really fuckin' awesome, but the fact of the matter is, I'm gonna be talking about this experience for years upon years to come." And I was right. It's been 25 years now & as many shows as I've been to & as many backstage moments as I've had with different bands, that is still by far the most amazing concert experience I've ever had the fortune to have. I just wish Nathan Gale had gone after Phil. Dime was the last person in the world, much less the metal community, to deserve what happened to him. Phil, on the other hand...
I listen to these cause my dad loves dime had several photos of just him and dime when the other members were pissed that he didn't want like a group photo. One time at deer creek he was staying late hanging around helped out a p.a roadie load some equipment on and the roadie took him to meet dime, and Phil, everyone in some room backstage and they were all just chilling smoking and drinking he got to hang out for a lil said it was one of the most sureal experiences ever.
yeah its bopp pa bopp bopp riff... but damn he put in an incredible solo in there... just so that mere mortals could not play the whole song through.. RIP Dime Heavier than shit, Greater than time \m/
Dime wanted to make sure everyone was having a good time just kind guy he was. He remember to have whiskey on hand yea liked just in case stand up dude

That is a great point Ian makes about the song Walk. That's the type of thing that other musicians like myself can really appreciate.
Dimebag is a real friend buying Scott a whiskey that he likes that a good man right there get ya a pull
Two of the best guitarists.
Thanks again for Scott Ian being an honest voice in rock and metal!!!
