you pronounce D'Addario WRONG! ;)
Scott also has to be a gentleman also. He's married to a nice lady , Pearl. I don't think Meatloaf would let someone who is not, around his daughter. You don't mess with Meat.
Also twice, just noticed.
Why didn't he play anything? 28 minutes of "this sounds great, that sounds great" and nothing was played? :-(
I one to Order me a Jackson guitar mr sweet water jackson x series Rhoads rr24 but I want to ask is this jackson low action or high action or it can be adjusted
Scott is so cool. When Dimebag was one of your fans, you are definitely a great player. So sorry Scott for the lost of your brothers Dime and Vinnie. I live in Arlington, Texas. Scott is always positive like Dime.
I live in Pantego! I was at his house after the tribute show at the ballpark last December. I partied with CoC and a few other badass players. I know Mothership and they opened, that's how I got there lol.
That he is. Met him years ago backstage during the Bush era... probably early 2000's. Great guy indeed. He talks to you like he's known you for decades. The whole band was amazing too. Great down to earth guys. No rock star trip/ego.
Man after all these years Scott is still like a kid discovering the guitar for the first time
Scott may be a legend, but i still bow before Nick (the guy on the left) , for delivering the greatest solos on the Grim Reaper Album "Rock you to hell", im still listening to this Album today.
I've always found Anthrax truely underrated and innovative, Scott is an overlooked legend.
He can't be overlooked, he's EVERYWHERE.
...and the drummer writes most of the riffs!
Underrated? They've been huge since the 80s, literally one of the top 4 regarded metal bands of all time.
This format of Nick doing gear reviews with the players? Keep doing it and keep letting Nick do it. 'Nuff said.
Scott does have a killer right hand. Underrated guitar player
Nick is so good at these!!! Always gets such an in-depth look at the gear.
Nick Bowcott much respect.
I love Scott because he is just as much of a fan of music as we are. And the best stomp while playing ever.
That's cool, but I'd have loved to hear him demo his sounds.
Agreed! the vast majority of rig rundowns, by various companies, go into ridiculous detail of every aspect of the gear, while holding the guitar, and never play a single note. makes no sense.
Same dude
Yes indeed and I could tell he really wanted to let it rip
Scott Loves to play more than anything 🤘🏻
I've been waiting for metal players to come back around to doing more stuff in standard tuning. It's been so long now it might sound fresh
i riff out in standard an drop d
Check out Power Trip their Nightmare logic album is all in standard and it sounds heavy as balls
Check out Subhuman by Osmium Guillotine
Totally not my band... 😉
@@megaduck7965 rip Riley Gale
@@alexanderjuarez1713 sucks so much man , I was so excited for that 3rd album . Rip Riley
This is really good , BUT .... we don't get to hear it after all that?!
Go an listen to an Anthrax song. This is a gear review, not a gear demo
For real. They took the trouble to set it all up, plug it in and power it up and....no playing?!
They are telling in the beginning of the video that Scott went there for a workshop. They played the rig there I guess.
Well maybe we don’t understand but why not plan being able to even strum a chord or two and pick a proper setting?
I love this video because I completely understand everything Scott is saying and the way he feels. Having been fortunate enough to play hundreds and hundreds of gigs and many many wonderful guitars I too have experienced the mutated finger nail and understand how one particular guitar will just walk all over the others. What a great video.
Amazing Video! Well done Nick and Scott! Thank you!~
Scott Ian is a really cool down to earth dude.. Much respect for him.
Great video! Scott is an all around cool cat. Would've loved to hear him play through his rig.
Matt Hughes Music I have it’s amazing
@@uncufferablesunts1577 I'm sure it is!
Scotts a Class Act, great player, humble and all around professional !! Great interview and this is why I buy all my Guitars and gear from Sweetwater. Thank you for this.
Great rig rundown. Nick and Scott together are hilarious and bad ass at the same time. Well done!
I was fortunate enough to have attended this masterclass and it was an incredible experience. The guys in the band are amazing and are very down-to-earth. They were happy to answer questions and hung out for quite a while at dinner just chatting about anything and everything. I also got to be in the room when they were setting up and testing tones. AMAZING. Then, we got to sit in on the tracking and participate in the mixing and editing. Kudos to Sweetwater for setting up this event, and a big thanks to Anthrax for being a part of it.
Awesome! Thanks for the shoutout, Randy! 😁👍
Scotts the shit! Down to earth, just seems like a cool guy to hang with.
I was at the Metropolitan Museum in NYC going through the Play It Loud exhibit in July. While looking at the original prototype Tele, I noticed someone to my left with tattooed arms and calves, I thought that has to be a musician, and yep it was Scott Ian with his family. It was pretty cool seeing him be just as much in awe of the history in that exhibit as the rest of us.
One of my favorite guitarists for 30-odd years.
This is the most enjoyment that I've had listening to a guitarist NOT play guitar. Thank you for sharing.
Scott's awesome!
Funnest thrash metal band hands down. I’ve seen Anthrax 6 times..great time everytime, And if the show starts to go sideways, they stop it. And get it back on track. Trully a socially conscious band.
Funniest-Yes. They have a phenomenal sense of humor no doubt. They don't take themselves seriously. I met them backstage once during the Bush era. Great dudes. They don't have that rock star attitude either. That's key!
17:15 Surprised he didn’t think of KK Downing playing Candy Apple Red Flying V’s
In the middle of reading his book. Definitely a good read.
Scott is one of the coolest guys out there man. Dig this guy's energy and personality alot . Appreciate the vid guys.
This is the funniest rig rundown I’ve ever seen! Scott, you are hilarious! This is a blast. Thanks for sharing all of this info and your perspective.
Many Maiden references. Gotta love it. Cheers!
I like when Nick says to Scott, "If you're not using a Floyd Rose, you're using a fixed bridge?", Scott says, "Uh, no. Not necessarily." Then Nick bursts out, "DARN IT!". It's easy to comprise between a tremolo and a fixed bridge. Fuck, I do not bitch about that EVER, but I do, too, sometimes.
i love these interviews, so great to hear persons with heart talking about the storys of life!
Just bought 2 of those Monster T shirts.....Gabba Gabba Hey!
Gotta love SOD as well...
Sargent D is coming and you're on his list! !!!!!!
What a great guy Scott is... Awesome rig tour - thanks, Sweetwater!
*Watched the whole thing so patiently waiting to hear a bit but it's one of those days I guess*
Scott is my favorite member of the band! I remember seeing him in Pittsburgh during the Killthrax tour and he would constantly catch me eyeing his hands and would smile then rock the fuck out. Awesome performer!
This interview made my day ! Thank you Sweetwater ! 🤘🏻
🙌
I’m happy with my gear sweetwater provided
Both Nick and Scott are not only among the best guitar players but very knowledgeable as well.
Love Scott's enthusiasm, he's still a fan of the bands he loves.
Oh, he plays guitar quite well too...
I came here for a gear review and went away with some great advice for any thrash metal guitarist. I've been known to wear away the corner of the nail of my index finger when I practice a lot and to know both Scott Ian and Gary Holt have this problem too makes me feel a whole lot better!
Keep the rig rundowns coming!
Killer interview. FU tone for the win :-)
Great job as always Nick!
Scott's just the coolest freakin' dude..aint he.?..ya man this was too cool.. anyway, love those Jacksons man..Thanks for posting this..
God Bless..✌
The sacrificial finger nail! 🤘🤘
thing I like about Scott Ian is his outlook on his guitars... He has a Jackson with the word NOT on the fret board. He was asked why there were no frets from 12 to 22 (where the word NOT was). His response was "I simply don't play there"... now I have a new memory of him.... 12:15 ... Simply he is the master of only bring to the party of what you would use.
I would have love to hear him play that rig.
So go to an anthrax show.
Don't live in internet.
Nice to see some new Anthrax vids. And, seeing all these new gears got me pumped! SO pumped that I just bought a Gibson guitar. hahaha
What a cool guy. I haven't listened to Anthrax in decades, might have to check them out again.
Repo I thought EXACTLY the same.
Nick I love your musician on musician interviews 🥂 Well done !
His gear reviews are great as well.
I’m so old I remember when Scott hated wireless. He joked about using the shortest cord possible cause it hurts your tone.
Yup, Monster Cable for everything 😄🤣😄🤣
Love that Scott got back with Jackson.
I like Scott's hair.
I have the same Barber
Appreciating these rig rundowns. Hopefully, they keep em coming! The only gripe is that there was no demo!
Scott never ages.
Because he looked 35 when he was 22.
@@dowens3781 hahahahaha yeah you’re right. Before he knew how to shave and wax those furry eyebrows
@@Locoandchooch
He's the Woody Allen of metal.
S.O.D is about due for a tour...
EVH amp, TC flashback mini, TC Corona chorus mini, mini phase pedal is the simple perfect rig. Not familiar with this guys music but he has great taste in gear.
Great interview!
That candy apple red V is 🔥
Scott Ian 🥰
I love Scott!
Wait... is that Nick Bowcott from Grim Reaper?! METAL!!
Say what you will about Grim Reaper... SEE YOU IN HELL MY FRIEND!
Just ordered my first bass off of sweetwater to record my tracks with. Looking forward to getting it and they called right away to say thank you which was cool.
^^^ The Ultimate Machine of a Rhythm Guitarist that this world will ever witness^^^
I’ve heard more than two people now say that even though the neck pick up isn’t being used it’s still has magnets in it and it does have an affect on the sound of the guitar even when not being used. I’ve never played a guitar with just a bridge pickup so I can’t say for sure.
Dude is super cool 👍🤘🤘
At 18:08 it sounded like a a10 warthog
Garrett Woodward my god that was brilliant
So cool. Scott has always been a cool guy when I have met him. I wish they would have demoed it.
I didn't know Nick was rock'in w Sweetwater, that's badass !
Legend
Love Scott and dime but I never realized what a fan boy Scott is of dime
I went to Riot Fest and made sure to stop at Sweetwater on the way back to PA. I came around the corner and Anthrax were walking about. I wanted to fanboy, but left them alone as they really are regular dudes (who happened to write some of my favorite albums). Great set at Riot Fest. Now It's Dark getting added was AWESOME.
Makes me happy to hear they have gone back to standard. Belladonna is an amazing tenor, and as a tenor myself, i can say it’s harder to sing in lower tunings, because you find yourself going higher, rather than lower. In standard, you have a wider range of notes to play with. Dickenson has been in standard the whole time, and it works. The mighty anthrax will always be my favorite metal band...l
That was great!!! Nick you are at Sweetwater, awesome =)
Superglue on the index nail of the picking hand. Essential to metal. As well as Tortex and D'Addario.
He's so cool!!!
Awesome V's. I love seeing a good V player, and I aspire to be a great one myself someday
More is more, rite
Classic Yngwie reference
"these endless slayer shows"
He should appreciate it, anthrax will never play shows this big again
Whinny Scott ,, he complains alot a big ass baby.. 👶
That's in reference to Gary Holt needing a prosthetic nail. Not sure how you could read it as whining.
@@arnottsbiscuits9596 He was talking about Gary Holt and how with the long tours they do, he destroys his nail, so he uses a fake nail on top. That's not him whining.
@@arnottsbiscuits9596 LOL
I got my first Scott ian signature V, the red one and decided to buy another one I loved it so much
after almost 15 years using my ibanez RG370DXL I've disassembled the middle and the neck pickups, I never used them, so no tape no nothing, problem solved! Huh, and blocked that damn floyd rose too!
great video, scott you're great!
Yeah!!!🤘😝🤘
I love his playing, great video. Would have been cool to hear him play it though.
Scott you nailed it🤣🤘🏻 metal head 4 ever
🤩🤟🤟
When Scott said, "Wait, we got one more. Hold on", Nick Bowcott said, "Ooh. Cardinal sin." That made me laugh. (singsong) Content.
Would have great to hear all of those guitars!
Really good explanation of why some folks go for higher action for live play.
Steve Harris’s bass techs mum makes Steve’s strap covers . Scott having something close is a nice touch .
Got too meet him and get my guitar signed by him😊
great rig!!!! \m/
I use the same Green Tortexs and I also put the slices in them with a razor blade just like Scott does(& Dime did,for extra grip). I never knew that he did that to.Great minds think alike😀
The vid was great! Hoping you do this to more artists, but ask them to sample some sounds!!
my first Mosh Pit was to Anthrax during slayers Final tour during Indians. Scott and James Hetfeild are the Kings of Thrash Rhythm
If Scott never uses the neck pickup. Why doesn’t his tech just lower the neck pickup flush with the pickgaurd. Since the pickup height doesn’t matter. Instead of putting tape on it so the E string doesn’t get caught on it. And it’s disconnected.
Because as soon as his tech does that, Scott's gonna want to use the neck pickup
@Jeffrey Dohnger He said it made the V look weird. I'd agree
Jeffrey Dohnger Scott said the V looks weird without the neck pickup. But I agree if he never uses it live he shouldn’t have a neck pickup in the guitar.
Good point
Why have it at all?
Nice, he took time to explain the rig by himself, and not letting his tech do it.
I hope to see a Gear Video like this with Charlie🤘
Marvin Jakobi Monday!
The EVH amps have that sound. Like Scott Ian said, "A guttural lion or tiger's roar". And it's got that bassy growl? HA HA!
I taught my guitar student "Among the Living" she's 12yrs old 3:) she said Teach me the Darkside 3:) followed by my EVIL Laughter...............
