I'm 49 and Scott's 53 still doing his thing! Brother has had my respect since the early '80's. I like the fact there's no censor bull shit during this rig rundown.
I met Gary Holt and Scott Ian (Along with the rest of their respective bands) after a show that they played in San Fran. Nicest dudes and great guitarists.
Scott Ian is my hero. He created my teenage years. The best thrashmetal rythem guitarist in history , S.O.D. blew me away as a kid and made me buy a guitar .
One of the coolest dudes ever from one of the best bands of all time. I emailed him a couple of times as a kid looking for some merch and he actually replied! Saw them live in Boston too what a memory.
oh you're in for it now, I troll everything, I seriously collect wellfare, pay for rice and water, and troll the internet, I have no life, oh and hookers ofcourse. Shit is going doewn
Thanks to Rebecca and PG for another Rig Rundown....Scott actually has more in his live rig than I would've figured on(and I've listened to Anthrax/SOD since the 80's).
Scott seems like a cool guy. It's nice he took the time to still do the interview when he was hung over. That's kind of funny that he doesn't know what neck pickup he has in his own signature guitar! LOL! I personally don't like the Duncan JBs. They were never hot enough for my ears, but he's not a lead guitarist so that makes sense. I always replaced them whenever I bought a Jackson. Seymour Duncan SH6 Distortion is my personal favorite!
Sh 6 is a great pup, really gives you the thrash sound from the get go, but the jb really founded the genre and its hard to find a thrash band that didn’t use one at some point
Very well done PG. And a great choice for an interview. A lot of people come down on Scott because he's not the flashy "virtuoso" type guitarist. I happen to love his style and he's just such a cool guy. And the audio/video production is much improved. Rebecca has a nice way about her and the way she gets guys to open up and be at ease.
That army printed cry baby from hell pedal was given to be by my guitar teacher that got it from Scott him self so I have that pedal sitting with me at home right now 👌
Scott is so cool. The kinda dude you would like to hang with, knock back a few Black Tooth Grins and a joint and tell dirty stories and laugh all night. And he rocks 80's style, which is my style.
Evans City Cemetery, a few shots were done at Livermore Cemetery (about 30miles away) but the majority of the cemetery stuff was shot in Butler County at Evan's City Cemetery.
Used to think Scott didn't get tied up in the whole drink/rock n roll thing...not sure where I got that from but it was an inspiration being an "outsider" growing up lol. His playing taught me it's not about the front of the stage solo, rhythm is what people feel...and he makes people feel it!
Thanks! We felt the comic book slides worked well since Mr. Scott Ian is a big comic fan and made a cameo in The Walking Dead ... based on a comic. Keep watching, --PG Staff
His amps are tube. Its a Randall system that was somewhat popular a few years ago. Essentially a tube power amp with interchangeable tube pre amps. George Lynch, kirk Hammett, Scott ian obviously all had signature pre amp modules. They also had several stock modules as well. Its Randall RM heads/combos. They're still pretty easy to find.
Holy shit. I've been watching videos for months and I JUST realized it says "Rig". For some reason I have always thought it said Big Rundown. Mind = Blown.
Scott's like sorry i'm really hung over lol. You'd think he'd be sick of that feeling after all these years because i stopped drinking about 7-8 years ago because i just can't have 1 good Canadian beer lol.
Only at the 9 minute mark but just had to comment.. That Zomie guitar is totally fuckin unreal ! I gotta get one of those "Among the Living" guitars. I bought the Scott Ian Digitech Black 13 Pedal and was blown away buy how good that it captures his tone on each setting. He's a big influence on my playing. Scott Ian is a livin legand.......
CantFight, it's not really an "advantage", but more of a personal choice. Some people, like myself, just never liked the sound of a neck pickup, and so when we have the choice, we don't get one. As you heard Scott say, he currently doesn't use neck PU's for the entire show. The one-pickup thing really took off when Eddit VH started doing it. Before then everyone had to have 2 or 3 PUs in their guitars. :)
Damnit, I was almost at that show. drove sixteen hours on two hours of sleep and couldn't blink without nodding off, so I had to head to the hotel... it sucked, the guy that went with me said it was the best he'd ever seen them play.
Oooo "...I kinda like the way she held the mi-kra-phone" Am I the only boy who PINES away for Rebecca, wishing she'd come back (?) 'Lover please, please come back.... ' 'Don't take that train com'n' down the tra-ack'
the advantage is, some people feel having a tone knob affects the tone. if u don't use the neck pickup or the tone knob, eliminating them insures that u won't switch by accident.
Scott Ian is living proof that you don't have to know shit about guitars and can still make a living playing metal. I read an article in Guitar Magazine back in the 80s where he admitted that he didn't know any chords and I don't know if he's learned anything in the interim.
Exactly my friend, thinking the same thing. Tells much when the artist themselves take out time to show and tell. Normal, humble and no different than the average dude....other than being the lead for a kick your teeth in band.
the reason the 2 "hum" sounds better or in some peoples case worse is because evan if your not on the neck pickup the magnet is always slightly got a pull on the strings
In theory, single humbucker guitars should sound better because even when one is not in use, the magnets from the pickup not selected will still pull on the strings. Why are people freaking out so much about what he says? If Scott likes 2h guitars and think they sound better 'for some reason', then I don't see why you need to question that. It's his tone and his guitars. Let him do what he wants.
I've always liked the fact that Ian is as much a fan of other bands as he is a professional musician...
I'm 49 and Scott's 53 still doing his thing! Brother has had my respect since the early '80's. I like the fact there's no censor bull shit during this rig rundown.
love the family guy in the background...
lol
+Brooks Dawngard (datcraziguy) Not sure which, but it's one of the Star Wars episodes ^_^
+Exera80 It looks like the episode 6 parody
That was Frank Bello the bassist
Lol "sorry I'm really hungover."
I think he's still drunk!
Read as said
The only thing about Scott that ages is his beard
Evan S It's the beard magic
Somewhere there is a painting with an aging Scott Ian and a young fresh beard
I met Gary Holt and Scott Ian (Along with the rest of their respective bands) after a show that they played in San Fran. Nicest dudes and great guitarists.
SCOTT IAN LOOKS THE SAME AS 20 YEARS AGO..HE DOESNT AGE
Yeah, to be honest: My friend listens to Anthrax and I don't think he's aged
Only his beard ages
It may be because his head has been shaved for so long.
+Andrew Pappas He ages like a McDonald's french fry.
+Logan Stahlecker Guitar I wish he would grow his hair out
Scott Ian is my hero. He created my teenage years. The best thrashmetal rythem guitarist in history , S.O.D. blew me away as a kid and made me buy a guitar .
"I'm really hungover" lol
They way he fuckin growled it like a creep was hilarious
I miss you, Rebecca Dirks...
I love how completely human Scott Ian is. He always seems just like some guy you've been in a band with once.
Caught a pick from Scott at a show in a tiny auditorium in Virginia a few years back, killer show.
Where is Rebecca nowadays? I love this girl....
+irmasil3 Last I heard, she was working with the dude from Pro Guitar Shop with his Tone Report magazine.
My favorite guitar tone is Anthrax / SOD 80's guitar tone.
+jgmopar Yeah totally. That crunchy, scooped Mesa sound is my fave too.
+jgmopar T.C. Booster/line driver, distortion into a JCM 800!
Two guitars were used on that album, a Gibson Flying V and a Jackson Randy Rhoads signature. Both of them have Seymour Duncan JB's (I think)
Brandon P 504 that was Andy spitz with the Mesa, Scott used an 800 boosted with a tc electronic line driver
I really love the way Rebecca holds the Mic. I could watch that for hours... :)
Scott Ian is THE MAN. What a down to earth guy. Love that he plays his production models.
I came here to see Rebecca :)
Bloody Hell, you know you've done well for yourself when you have a guitar for each song....
Scott Ian is one of my guitar Heros he is awesome
I love the Dimebag Dio axe. Beautiful tribute.
One of the coolest dudes ever from one of the best bands of all time. I emailed him a couple of times as a kid looking for some merch and he actually replied! Saw them live in Boston too what a memory.
The Neck has a Seymour Duncan 59 pickup.
No exaggeration, I think Rebecca Dirks is one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. I could talk guitars with her forever.
nigga
nigga
nigga

This vid makes me want to buy a lot of guitars.
i actually like this guy. but you VUK YU are a little bitch
Your mom is a garbage disposal.
vuk yu
"Your mom is a garbage disposal." xD
Yeah this Uriah Meth Cook guy, keeps posting on my comments, I'm getting a bit tired of getting serious counter comments..
oh you're in for it now, I troll everything, I seriously collect wellfare, pay for rice and water, and troll the internet, I have no life, oh and hookers ofcourse. Shit is going doewn
Really cool that he got his old guitar back to him. Stories like that are always awesome.
true thrash metal legend here..
For those who are wondering about the cemetery mentioned, it’s Evans City Cemetery in Evans City, PA
05:35 I want that guitar so bad! THAT is heavy metal!
Thanks to Rebecca and PG for another Rig Rundown....Scott actually has more in his live rig than I would've figured on(and I've listened to Anthrax/SOD since the 80's).
Why do so many people hate Scott Ian, and Kerry King? I don't see an issue with them!
Agree bro!! Great comment!!!
what
Zombie 8890 I think it's because a lot of guitar folks feel metal guitar is a little passé which I don't think is fair.
He seems like a nice, normal guy to me.
Because they are successful and living most people's dream, and many resent that.
Lol I want to replace my SH-6 with a JB TB-4 so bad... but I keep putting it off.
It's Evans City Cemetary. That guitar is phenomenal!!
Scott Ian is such a cool guy and a legendary rhythm man
That army printed cry baby from hell pedal was given to be by my guitar teacher that got it from Scott him self so I have that pedal sitting with me at home right now 👌
zoya tareen can you do a quick vid of it?
I doubt it
Didn't happen though, did it?
Scott is so cool. The kinda dude you would like to hang with, knock back a few Black Tooth Grins and a joint and tell dirty stories and laugh all night. And he rocks 80's style, which is my style.
So glad this was uploaded. Those pictures you put up on facebook of his gear were teasing me lol.
seems totally cool. Like a salesman. Also, he did all that great work as a VH1 expert. What a great guy.
Evans City Cemetery, a few shots were done at Livermore Cemetery (about 30miles away) but the majority of the cemetery stuff was shot in Butler County at Evan's City Cemetery.

My favourite thing about more extremes metal bands; they're all so nice!
14:26 ..bello and his daughter have fun..lol
Thanks! We felt the comic book slides worked well since Mr. Scott Ian is a big comic fan and made a cameo in The Walking Dead ... based on a comic.
Keep watching,
--PG Staff
that was a cool watch! Thanks for the video!
That second one he showed..I LOVE IT!
Scott only needs one guitar. With a seven fret neck.
And the seven frets just gives him some room to breathe 😁
His amps are tube. Its a Randall system that was somewhat popular a few years ago. Essentially a tube power amp with interchangeable tube pre amps. George Lynch, kirk Hammett, Scott ian obviously all had signature pre amp modules. They also had several stock modules as well. Its Randall RM heads/combos. They're still pretty easy to find.
i'm not a fan at all of thrash music but scott is one of the coolest dudes around. love his interviews
Please do a machine head rig rundown
awesome rig rundown!
Scott picked up a guitar at GC and plays it with Duncan Designed pups
My whole world is a lie

Scott Ian is a livin legand.......
The In The End one was so freaking great

"Rig Rundown - Mastodon's Brent Hinds & Bill Kelliher "
Enjoy!
Love the scratched up pick tip and Lost reference.
Damnit, I was almost at that show. drove sixteen hours on two hours of sleep and couldn't blink without nodding off, so I had to head to the hotel... it sucked, the guy that went with me said it was the best he'd ever seen them play.
"Excuse me really hungover" LOL
About the painter who did the In The End guitar. Nub was the one who worked with Orange County Choppers.
Love your transition screens.
And the family Guy starwars special is on in the background
I love how something something dark side is in the back ground
something something, COOOME-PLEEEATE.
From what I see, this is an 8 year old video with zero dislikes? Holy hell.
4:25 "...they don't suck" I'm sold!!
I played the scott ian soloist anarchy model and it had the best neck that I ever played
That Zombie guitar is cool.I like the hole in the headstock.
I might be a gear nerd, by me wanting to know what model # the shure mics are in the background.
edit: Shure PA805SWB Directional Antenna!
Already did it during their 'Crack the Skye' tour... check it out!
That's awesome bro!
Oooo "...I kinda like the way she held the mi-kra-phone"
Am I the only boy who PINES away for Rebecca, wishing she'd come back (?)
'Lover please, please come back.... '
'Don't take that train com'n' down the tra-ack'
Scott has some rockin' gear, and he's one of the greatest rhythm guitar players.
the advantage is, some people feel having a tone knob affects the tone. if u don't use the neck pickup or the tone knob, eliminating them insures that u won't switch by accident.
Scott's signature chin hair is actually a toupee made by the same guy who designed all of Burt Reynolds pieces. The more you know kids.
WAIT! WHAT!? Scott Ian was in this video. Huh?? I saw Rebecca
Haa still rocking and drinking into his 40's.Scott ian \m/
Lol family guy in back
They got one of those signed guitars at our guitar center
Scott Ian is living proof that you don't have to know shit about guitars and can still make a living playing metal. I read an article in Guitar Magazine back in the 80s where he admitted that he didn't know any chords and I don't know if he's learned anything in the interim.

system of a down, billy talent, anti flag, the offspring, bad religion, pennywise, and NOFX all need rig rundowns
wow scott ian has aged really well
I love Scott but I came back to this video for the Dirks, ……Rebecca where are you now? 😭 😭 😢
escuse me i'm really hangover ! ahahahahahahaah !!
You've gotta love it!!!
I only watch clips that feature Rebecca Dirks
the reason the 2 "hum" sounds better or in some peoples case worse is because evan if your not on the neck pickup the magnet is always slightly got a pull on the strings
I saw him in every Behind The Music
this guy is like that guy from your neighborhood who is constantly drunk and/or hungover..
yeah im cool, i have my own signature guitar. i like how he says it soo casual.
Scott is a cool, genuine dude, who knows his shit!
But goddamn, rebecca is looking good!
14:25
was this Franko Bello (w her daughter perhaps?) ? :D
Yup! :D havin a time
In theory, single humbucker guitars should sound better because even when one is not in use, the magnets from the pickup not selected will still pull on the strings. It's his tone and his guitars. Let him do what he wants.
geez that interviewer s insanely hot!
u guys should do rig rundowns of alot of the new metal bands
thats what i wanna for with all my guitars Scott, just throw socks on the bridge slot like Malcolm. Hail ACDC
So did Scott dip into a Tom Morello thing for a minute? The killswitch and the whammy are what I'm basing that off of.
Nice to see him back at Jackson. I'd like to see his NOT guitars with no frets above the 12th.
Must have been cold in the theatre
Love the Family Guy in the background nice =)
