Anyone stuck removing bulbs, hold the fan against the ceiling, put your fingernail above and behind the edge of the bulb and pull it down, once you move the bulb down a mm it will become easy. The bulb can be replaced with a 12V 5W LED GU5.3 - expensive in B&Q, but in B&M they are £4 for 2 energizer brand.
Yep, that’s one way. Or, like me, you could turn it inadvertently until it breaks and then spend 15 minutes picking the pieces out. Either way works… 🤣
Is the ceiling air-vent installed from the room side upwards or from the loft space downward? I have a fan that looks like this (not sure if is same model) and I am trying to take out the chrome grille/bezel but I cannot, not sure how to take it out and I do not want to force it and break it.
I've had mine installed about 16 years now, I've replaced the bulb once but now my transformer has gone, it's been great in service but I think I may just replace the whole kit as I'm sure everything else will have worn and need replacing soon anyway. I do have it on it's own switch, seemed the simplest solution, so you only have the fan on when you want it and a light directly over the shower (Which is great). I've never had any problem with condensation running back down the pipe / or building up anywhere else for that matter, it seems to be extracted outside before condensation can occur and as for draughts I fitted an inline backdraft shutter so it has never been an issue.
I realise this is on old post but for anyone interest the bulb simply pulls out. The hard part is that you can't get your hand in enough for leverage so you need to find something that will just lever it out without breaking up the bulb. I used a car trim remover which is like a screw driver but slightly angled head.
The bulb pulls out, but first you must hold the fan cowling in place with left hand (you don't want to pull the fan out of the plaster board) then with right hand, long fingernails will help, you have to put your finger nails between the edge of the bulb and the black plastic bulb surround and pull the bulb down. As soon as you move the bulb a mm it becomes easier.

Should just pull out, it's a GU5 lamp on mine.
