They changed quite a bit since National Treasure came out and there is NO way that they can make an actual good sequel with their vindictive purple haired feminist men hating Tumbler land whale writers that are even worse at storytelling then a toddler playing in the backyard. We would probably get a story where Nic Cage; the caucasian male (oeh, problematic for Hollywood) gets to bumble around while his 'ma'am that don't need no man' shows him how it's done and eventually Nic get's killed off when he served the purpose of pushing up the 'stronk wahman', coz all these marxist woke zombies have the same blueprint storyline as they are a hive mind. • @SPFLDAngler
      @SPFLDAngler 3 роки тому +34

      Because money. With how ridiculously expensive it is to make Hollywood films, everyone involved has to make a profit on it, and the maximum amount possible. There are so many people involved in making movies and the most significant of them, the Producers, are putting their money up to get them made. They don't want to lose that money, and any way they can increase returns on their investment they will do. That's why merchandising is the most important aspect of filmmaking.. that's just the way it is. If it were possible to make twice as much as they put in on ticket sales alone, the rest wouldn't matter. But because pirating movies online is such a problem, and recently the pandemic affecting theaters, it's more important than ever before to make sure your film is guaranteed to sell ALL the merchandise and set up innumerable sequel opportunities..

    About the "national" aspect, here in México it was released as "The Lost Treasure" or "The Search for the Lost Treasure", and I think that worked for the first movie. But I agree, to establish a franchise that might be a big deal.
    P.S. I was like 12 years old when the sequel came out and I was expecting the third movie about the page 47 for so long. I would still watch that, but with the original cast.

      The first one was great, but I loved the second one even mlre because part of the film took place in Europe.
      As much as I would like a third movie, I doubt Disney would do it because theg have to make sure it wouldnt get censored in China so who knows what they would have to historically fck up in order for it to be family and china friendly.

And it's true that Chris Bremner wrote a first draft of a script, but that's nothing new, there are thousands of scripts that will never be turned into movies. For now, to script has not been picked up by Disney executives. Bruckheimer is just HOPING that he gets to sell the script, but since Lone Ranger, his career at Disney kinda ended, so I doubt they would hire him back anyway.

On another note, we have "Anti-Trust Laws" on the books, but in spite of those laws, they keep allowing corporations to acquire everything around them and form monopolies. On top of that, we have these giant monopolies working together in Oligopolies to crush any forms of competition. And to make it even worse, these Oligopolies seem to be in lock-step with a large portion of our Government and we are seeing more and more Corporatism. Either way, it's NOT a very good thing to see and they need to bust them up. I'm usually against all forms of Government Intervention, but I do believe in busting up Monopolies to allow the Free Market to birth alternatives that can be competitive without smaller corporations being crushed by these behemoths..I'm actually surprised that they allowed Disney to acquire so many companies and properties. Well, I'm half surprised, as plenty members of our Government, both sides mind you, have no problems selling us out for Big Business. They'll gladly do it, because when they leave office, they'll get a nice, comfy, high paying job at one of the corporations they looked out for. They will put the screws to the very people they're supposed to be representing for stock options, fat bonuses and the occasional use of a private jet, and don't ever forget it.

      Not to sound like a republican but I wonder if today's political climate would make it more difficult to get a third one produced. • @SamaritanPrime
      @SamaritanPrime 3 роки тому

      @@crystalwolcott4744 I wouldn't worry too much about that.
      We, as people, are complicated. The things that drive us to do noble deeds and horrible atrocities permeate every single one of us. They do not care about such surface-level things as race, gender, faith, wealth, or any of that. It is true of us now, and it was true in the back end of the 1700s. Yes, some of the Founding Fathers owned slaves while pushing the idea that all men (meaning humanity as a whole) are created equal. They were aware of the irony. These were educated, learned men, probably the best that the States could offer. If they could have built the United States without slavery as a part of it, they WOULD have, of that I'm certain.
      If I have it right, the question of slavery was a divisive one- the Southern States had a lot of slaves and didn't want to give that up because they'd take a massive hit if they did. At a time when these thirteen states were taking on the most powerful empire on the planet, the colonies had to stand as one, and even when the Constitution was being created, the USA was still young. This brazen experiment with representative government could still collapse, so the Founding Fathers made a REALLY hard choice and basically punted it to future generations of Americans to hammer out.
      They also knew what would happen if the argument over slavery continued and divided the nation as it did in their time. Thomas Jefferson, for example, warned about the Civil War when he heard about the Missouri Compromise, and that was forty years before the Civil War broke out- a war that Jefferson would not live to see.
      If the Founding Fathers- Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Franklin, and the rest- were to see where we are today, they'd actually be happy that slavery isn't a thing now. They'd be sad about the Civil War, and they'd be baffled about groups like Black Lives Matter, but they would be glad that America was able to do the one thing that they couldn't do.
      This subject matter really wouldn't work in a National Treasure movie. It needs to be its own thing. For the record, sounding like a Republican isn't a bad thing; you're just wondering about how we ought to look at our history. About the only thing wrong with that would be to take too critical of an approach, because then you look at everything through dirty, broken glasses, which skewers what you see.

    Tangentially related to the video, but: Disney's "masks" intro for the Star Wars franchise is hot garbage. It is obviously an attempt to play up the iconography, but I personally think it's a lazy failure. What resonates in Star Wars isn't the masks per se, but the characters behind them - Vader, Artoo (brought to life so well by Kenny Baker when he's literally just a metal cylinder), Threepio...
    Marvel did this right from the very beginning - the comic book style, highlighting moments and feats of those characters; Cap's shield (also a bit of iconography) flying at the screen. Star Wars does it...weakly at best. The masks have no action, no testament to who or what these characters are, no storytelling.

    Sahara was a lot of fun, basically Uncharted the movie. Besides when was the last time you saw an old ironclad ship in a movie. I bet there's a fair few people watching your video who know nothing at all about this class of ship. You know what? I'm going to watch it now. Cheers.

    I am Australian and I loved National Treasure, my brother saw the movie independently - and bought the DVD something he rarely does - anyway, I thought it was right up there with Indiana Jones. It travelled well across continents because it was an action/adventure tour de force, told really well. The sequel was good, too, the reason why I think there never was a 3rd movie was because it would've been extremely hard for the writers to be come up with a scenario that would fit the "National Treasure" mould. It needs to be big, bold and epic and have fantastical devices like the glasses in the first movie. And after the first two I think they ran out of ideas that they could cobble together. I thought the fourth Indiana Jones movie tried to copy "National Treasure" and failed miserably, I mean aliens - aaaarrrrggggghhhh. Even Tomb Raider tried and failed as well. I won't say no to another installment but it's gotta be wild.

    I would die for a video on Sahara. it is unashamedly one of my favorite movies of all time. I got excited just at the small mention in this video.

    I feel like if this film had come out 5 years earlier in the late 90's, it would have gotten an animated series for kids. Something involving the main characters doing a treasure of the week format, similar to Carmen Sandiego. Kind of like how Godzilla or MIB got animated spinoffs.

    I'd absolutely love a history based adventure show, something like unnatural history was back when CN tried to do live action.
