That last duty was an endeavor, certainly. I still love how the Tank says at the end that it wasn't as hard as he thought it would be. Like, mad respect there.
With the Golbez fight, with the first timers, everybody likes a good underdog story. I think that's why fights like that one with first timers are so fun. You are basically rooting for the people that are struggeling and it is very satisfying seeing them succeeding :D
I had a similar experience versus Golbez recently where we also had to use healer LB3 and then got in a melee LB3 at the end. Maybe it's because I've been healing for so long but I much prefer these messy, chaotic fights where everyone is figuring out mechanics and building awareness. I feel like I have things to do, ways to make the learning experience smoother, and seeing people slowly gain confidence makes me so happy.
Oh yeah, definitely. I also appreciate the honesty when people say they're new or it's their first time and they try to learn from their mistakes. Seeing someone play terribly suddenly become OK after a few attempts is really cool.
LOL - finished Trials and saw you'd uploaded, click the video - 22s in and it's like hey that looks like the fight I just came out of, right down to half the party dead :D
I think that the Ala Mhigo experience is a great example of why giving advice is a good idea, because usually new players don't realize they're making mistakes, so they can't learn if you don't point them out! I'm glad the tank grew by the end of the dungeon! I always appreciate how much you help out new players!! 😁
Yeah no I love getting extremes, but I really do love getting first timers in pretty much anything else. It's one of the most enjoyable moments in the game. Teaching others what you know.
Your Golbez fight reminded me that my friends and I had a 50 minute Thaleia a couple weeks ago. I was indescribably glad that I wasn't healing that one!
I appreciate these commented voice over mentor videos so much that I'm on my 3rd watch of this playlist. I'll let the DT playlist build with some more videos so I can binge watch those :3
I love for those moments when you're the only veteran in the party and you get the chance to shine and become the hero of the group, it's literally why I main PLD. Being able to heal myself means I occasionally manage to scrape by in a fight and win it solo for everyone. No other feeling quite like knowing you just became a sprouts hero with a story to tell their friends about how a PLD saved the run back when they were just starting out. :D
I cannot get enough of people doing Golbez for the first time, it really does tend to be absolute chaos and a lot of people forgetting things such as his half room cleaves. Still the fact you guys pulled through that despite having over two dozen deaths is very admirable
The best feeling in the game is going in as an experienced healer with a lot of first timers (except on Nabriales-best to be a tank for that fight). Extremes are good and all, but first timer fights where the stakes are low and the difficulty becomes juuust right so it doesn’t feel like your time is being “wasted” is so much fun. It’s one of my favorite parts of the game and why I go into duties as a healer on my first runs always.
The knockback marker where it shows the entire arena having arrows signifies it cannot be anti-knockback cheesed. This marker also exists in E10 and in some other duties that I can't remember at the moment.
Golbez is too hard, you know.😳 I swear these days on average, there'll be a dead tank who eats the TB with bare face every other run. It's a miracle that you get it done with so many first timers. Probably because you're the healer. I end up duoing and soloing it with two recent encounters. Thank you for informing us about the gorilla mobs in Ala Mhigo. I tanked this dungeon several times but never noticed anything special about them until... Was leveling my alt today and a first timer PLD died there all of a sudden. Warrior is my last tank class, so I really don't have the habit of letting my hp drop that low.
I only found your videos recently and I love them! The only question I have is. In not quite the bottom right corner, how do you have your hotkeys for class changes set up like that? It would make everything so much easier for me!
Man... I just did voidcast today!! Was kinda freaked at 1st but the Dr Coker and Mtq guides helped. The other healer died a few times but didn't have any of these issues thank goodness. Got a few player commendations too 😁 Love your vids... I sometimes wonder if other vets/content creators be judging my healing as I learn as I still have sprout leaf
The important part is that as long as you're trying your best, you have nothing to be worried about in terms of someone like me seeing you 😅 the fact you prepare yourself for duties also means you are probably a lot better than you give yourself credit for! 😊 Thank you!
My first Voidcast Dias went similarly, except I was on Dancer, so no raises. The queue was like 12 minutes, so I watched the guide twice while I waited. It became wildly apparent that mostly everyone else did not watch the guide, and I used Improv more times than I ever had in any other fight. Still, one pull, EZ content.
Always love first timer fights, they are so hectic lol. Even fights with no first timers can get like that if everyone forgot the mechanics. Still remember an O4 run I had that wiped twice lol.
I'm fairly certain tank stance turns off when entering a duty under your current level is beacuse it is considered a buff and they remove all buffs upon entering lower level content to make sure you don't have a buff from higher level. Fun fact, it used to do the same thing with Ast's stances in ShB Another fun fact, in Doma Castle you can use Surecast and Arm's Length to avoid the knock backs from the beams on the second and last boss. I only mention this because quite a few people don't do it and end up getting pinballed if trapped.
To. The Doma castle thing, true for the second boss especially! Personally I use the beams on the last boss to fling myself where I want to be, but it also removes the beams for the run back! 😁
I remember when I did stone vigil (hard) it was ironically a ton of fun because we were all new. You can imagine when we got to cannons and it was different from everything else in the game. I remember figuring out how to stun the boss based on the skill description. I also remember when EW launched and people thought you had to kill all three Magus sisters at once good times.
It's quite shocking with the magus sisters. I just remember attacking the main one and then afterwards trying with the other two. What compelled my group to just focus one? Couldn't possibly say. My best guess was that it looked like a white mage, so it probably heals it's team like one. 😅
@@CaetsuChaijiCh It does technically cast Asylum as a raidwide but who notices the first time. Although the strategy was already available if you played FFIV as the Magus sisters appeared there first and it’s a similar approach.
5:25 my hopthesis is that when you change jobs/levels/anything all of your job specific buffs are reset so there's no strange errors where something you get at 90 is still applied at 50 or whatever? 🤔
Yeah that is probably the reason. It is weird though, since sometimes other things seem to be kept. Although I haven't tested much with it so I couldn't list a specific thing that is kept when syncing down 😅
6:05 Well, when im tanking with my Gunbreaker, i usually go for Sprint right before i use the Ranged attack and then do a single AOE for the first group, then immediatly going for the 2nd group. This can be tricky with Trashpacks that are a little more spread throughout the Room, but ive never had any Problems beside that. (although i have to admit that this kind of Pulls seem to confuse some Healers. Ive seen so many healers in Troja which just dont want to use sprint when im literally miles ahead of them.)
Depending on the size, I will usually do ranged, provoke another mob, ranged another mob, and perhaps even ranged the fourth mob while I run on. I don't recommend it with more than four mobs though! 😊
I got Golbez last night too with 4 first timer and one is healer who mainly on the floor, as a RDM I am sure I raised at least 10 times which drained my MP as low as I can only did melee attack. But this is still very fun to play with first timer and finally made a clear
Regarding those weird tank pulling in Doma did you check if the DPS were in ranged or position for AoE, as I've noticed some tanks seem to pull then pause just enough that you start you AoE only to resume pulling so that your AoE is utterly wasted, even going as far as kiting mobs in place to make sure DPS can't land their AoE.
In the Golbez fight its actually generally better to put the stacks on the edges of the arena, similar to what we see at 14:50, because this allows players a little bit more breathing room. The only downside here is that there is a 50/50 that the healer might have to run across the arena to dodge the follow up AOE's but that isn't really much of a downside considering its one of the smaller arenas in the game. Not to mention that this is actually how its handled in the EX iirc.
Huh, I figured tank stance turned off because in the starter zones there are fates that can sync to below 10 and it always turns off because there's no way to make sure you should still have it when synced (or they can't be bothered to implement the check.) Getting them at 30 seems insane these days wtf!
I maintain that meteors is WAY easier in Voidcast EX. Yes, you need all 8 people up, but the consistency of the flares always going to the same corners more than makes up for it. It really feels like one of those mechanics they made for the EX version and then had to figure out how to scale down for Normal and it wasn't scaled down very well. EX Gale Spheres 2 sucks though thank god Normal doesn't have enumerations
I actually have had a Voidcast Dais Normal from Mentor Roulette that ended in failure. No clear. Some first timers had trouble learning certain mechanics. My first and only time I have failed a normal trial from a roulette.
"Did you know Art of War is gain on 1 at level 50?" Now you can optimize it even harder! 😂 I will say the dps check at the end in Ala mhigo is quite tight for a lone warrior, but at least it is possible! 😁
It weirded me out the first time I saw Ultima go down without the LB3. (I was MCH in the middle of my burst phase and giving the other DPS a chance to do it since they were new, but then it just died lel)
5:57 Been seeing this a lot lately. Newer tanks, and even the occasional mentor tank, will sit on a pack for 1 or 2 aoe gcds before running to grab the next pack.
Hmm personally I do this too, to make sure the mobs stick to me. But the key difference in the way I do it is that I keep moving forward somewhat so that the group doesn't get the wrong idea! 😅 It is a safer approach as mobs are less likely to detach, but then again, done wrong it can really confuse the group!
7:13 to be fair for the "wrong language spell" ... my game is in german and everyone i know totally would get as blackmage player what you want to say with fire or ice/blizzard 3 15:54 its funny but that run reminds me of my story rubicante run last year ... with over 30 deaths and 2 lvl 3 healer limit breaks needed ... it was awesome xD its a shame i havnt recorded it :(

Golbez out there wiping out entire alliance raids worth of players, and still had the good grace to drop when it was his time. What a chad.
"I will get way more kills if I farm the groups instead of wiping them completely!" 😂
Golbez does preside over a death world, so he would prioritize higher amount of deaths over killing a threat of multiple whatevers once
