    7:05 I'm glad Dawntrail brought back this mechanic. Tanks need to learn to actually tank and it's pretty obvious from some of them that they were either carried in their early levelling experience or... just simply forgot how to tank in ARR/HW.

      11:30 I feel Syrcus Tower needs to be rebalanced so people can't just faceroll the mechanics. It's the first time some of them show up and they should really know when something will end up being deadly later on in the game...

      Yeah things like line of sighting is rarely helpful in modern dungeons! Even in dt ones, usually there's too few ranged mobs to require it! 😅 But it's at least something!
      I agree that it would be nice to buff crystal tower a bit, but I'd also be up for maybe a pass to see if it needs a bit of updating in general since, as you say, it's the introduction to that type of content!

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  25 днів тому

      Oh I know, but the power of the move has been improved over the years, and there is also the hilarious detail that kangaskhan doesn't have the option to pick rapid spin, so we won't know for sure, maybe it would be a good speed boosting option, although a viper pokemon would probably be fast enough to not justify something like agility anyway 😂

    leveling dungeon day (mostly) nice. regarding the 1st duty where you said you didnt see much reprisal/arms length use the tank wouldnt have access to them as reprisals 22 and arms lenght is in the 30's iirc.
    Finally if im tanking a low level dungeon on 1 of my low level tanks, if i dont know the healer i'd usually pull 2 or 3 packs depending on the dungeon with me considering pulling w2w i i know the healer is capabl of keeping me up. the probable exception to that would be stone vigil boss 2-3 mega pull as i doubt i'd survie in level 41 geat regardless if i knew the healer.

    Ancient Quaga does Your Max Health amount of damage, which means if your health is full, having any amount of shield is enough to survive it (however "damage reduction" mitigation does _not_ work). I like to abuse this fact on any job with a personal shield (for example, Pictomancer) just to keep things interesting for the healers 😈 Personally, I'd like to see the stack markers in the Xande fight apply a magic vuln like most later multi-stacks do to immediately teach people to not stack stacks.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  25 днів тому +2

      Using sprint to pull with is optimal as it means enemies get less hits on you while you pull 😊
      A bigger pull means the duty ends faster, and is often more exciting 😊

    On the whole tank thing, i think the problem is what youre used to, ie always wall to wall pulling, goes against what other games like wow or even eso teach. Its because in those games a. Certain tanks (warrior and kind of paladin lmao jesus chrisr) arent living gods that with any basic game knowledge are in virtually no danger for those types of pulls b. The mobs in 14 do....very little to actually be threatening for the most part. Group wide damage dosent exist and well there are random tankbusters, thats mostly at low level and i havent seen them appear in dt or even endwalker at all. Ranged mobs requiring LoS only appear in vanguard for current xpack content...tl;dr: sqe where are my bees

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  25 днів тому

      I mean I know at least in wow you also pull big, but the difference there is you don't wall to wall unless you completely dwarf the dungeon in power, which I guess is a bit rare at times? 🤔😊
      And I know this because I've been the big pulling tank in at least classic wow, original wrath, original cata, mop, and legion 😁
      I could imagine there would be far less reason to pull big in wow these days since most attacks have a damage drop off if it hits more than five targets now, but that would of course have a similar effect in ffxiv if implemented! Why pull 10 if you already max out your damage at 5?🤔😊

    • @scorpiowarrior7841
      @scorpiowarrior7841 25 днів тому +1

      @CaetsuChaijiCh oh yeah that's also part of it. Most large pulls these days are either only possible with full cds and heroism (or bloodlust)and some classes like enhance shammy and fury warrior are hard capped to 5 for most of their damage, unlike any class in 14 really. And eso also has dangerous areas because aoe threat and proper mob gathering by the tank is far more difficult then in wow or 14. New tanks from other games probably don't know when their dps gets their aoe, or if it's capped at all, so it's a safer bet to play it safe rather then loose the bet that the dps can kill it in time....and then you have people who have never tanked before in their lives and think large pulls need a certain amount of gear to be possible.

    I kinda wish I knew why they changed the way the multiple stack ups work in Syrcus Tower. Before the icon change, stacking those markers was absolutely a bad idea and would kill anyone standing in more then one. But when they changed them, they suddenly did less damage, and that to me just seems like a bad idea. It teaches people they can, and probably even should, stack multiple stack up markers when they come up. But in just about every other piece of content with them, that'll typically ensure a party wipe.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  24 дні тому

      I can say confidently that you could still overlap them before they changed them to the more inviting modern stack markers. It is possible they nerfed them, but before that point, they still didn't apply a magic vulnerability effect, so the math presented still applied (sharing 3 times more damage with 3 times more players is still the same damage).
      Although yes, because people were more likely to run away with the scary markers, or run away from them, it was more likely very few players would be present in one of the stacks!
      Aside from that, I do agree that it is quite silly that the first opportunity to teach players not to overlap stack markers, they just... Dont!

That and with low enough ilv you also still can't cheese them as you won't have enough hp to survive. With good enough dps I know in the past you could kill the catoblepas without breaking its horn. I still see a dps or healer die to ancient quakega if they're a fresh-ish lv 50. Same kind of thing would happen in Titan Hard mode back in the day where anyone who didn't have a high enough ilv would just die to the later stomps no matter how much healing was done. It was even more frustrating when it would be dragoons and monks dying as for a long time they were the two dps with the highest hp and thus could still survive with a slightly lower ilv.
