People who know drummer Steve Smith from Journey probally don't realize he was trained in jazz at Berklee in Boston and is really at his best in the Jazz/Fusion environment. What a solid drummer.
Well, he was Jean-Luc Ponty's "Enigmatic Ocean" album a few years before he joined Journey. However, I do think most people know this about Smith, and, many people way after the "Simon Phillips", "Terry Bozzio" and "Dennis Chambers" eras have no idea..., even though Simon, Terry and Steve all played within the same era.

Man, this is just so wonderful. I miss Michael Brecker, BIG TIME! My train goes past Hastings On Hudson every day, so sad......But the legacy continues to LIVE ON FOREVER!
Oh my god... commenting so I can come back to this later. That first EWI solo just blew my mind... gotta rest before watching the rest of the 75 minutes lol!
Absolutely phenomenal! Love especially the style, sound, capability and musical profession of Mike Brecker! The whole band also is a rare exception. Fusion at it's best.
Quels musiciens fabuleux.
At the top of their powers... what a band. They actually invented a new sound with the joint venture of Brecker's EWI and Mainieri's MIDI vibes. P.S.: Brecker's sax solo on "Sumo" is one of my favorite sax solos ever.
His playing skills are above the clouds, but as admirable is his improvisational ability! Simply unbelievable that a person is able to put that bad(dest) shit out in front of an audience on 'just another night'. Mike was a musical animal. RIP.

Music is great. They might use others sounds nowadays, but it was the sound of the 80ies, Stern's guitar with chorus and sequenced keys full of DX7 like sounds....

Thanks for posting .. a real treat. The Japanese fans really know music and they love jazz. What can I say other than BRAVO!! incredible artists
1曲目のBeirut(ベイルート)は何度聴いても圧巻です。
