The art of dying is a must
You'll appreciate this track more than others too Chase - lots of characteristics to hang your superb analytical hat on. Can't wait for you to hear it, you'll really enjoy it.
I'd love to hear Chase tackle the Art of Drumming. Even reading full explanations of it it's a struggle to explain it, if anyone can Chase can, but that opening drum pattern is beyond insane.
I just want to see him try and match the rhythms as he's listening

If you want to react to more of Gojira's live performances you need to check out the concert from 2018 Pol'and'rock Festival. It is posted in full on the Gojira's YT channel. It has the best sound I have ever heard on a live show and there are timestamps for each song so it is easy to pick the one you want to listen to.

Yes yes YES! That show is incredible and has my favourite version of Flying Whales. Another great show is live at Red Rocks. Sound quality and mixing is great and the setting is amazing. Wish I was at both 🤘

Flying Whales or The Art of Dying. Both showcase their ability to set up an atmosphere for a song that's damn near unmatched in music

You should check out Gojira - Pray live at Red Rocks. Its an incredible experience and its far more into the progressive side of music.

This song is very sad and emotional to Joe and Mario. It's a tribute to their mother who died during the making of the album where this song comes from, so it has a simpler structure but it's still heavy and dark and easily identifiable as being a Gojira song.
Joe is an absolute beast at pitching his distortion point when he screams. I’d never heard quite anything like him, save for Lynn Strait from Snot waaaay back in the day.
They are hands down one of the best live bands I’ve been lucky enough to see. Their sound quality and stage presence is incredible, and yes, Joe’s voice holds up through a full set
Theyre are amazing live, and he definitely holds up with the singing. I caught a drumstick the drummer threw into the crowd, so I might be biased on enjoying their concerts :')
Gojira is definitely one of those bands that grows on you the more you listen. Especially live. Happy to see Stranded on here! Even though it's a bit repetitive.
Gojira are one of those bands that when I start listening I have to listen to everything. They are so impactful, it makes me feel like I am within the music when they are playing. Thanks for another great video!!

Best band in metal currently IMHO. For live videos of theres check out "The Art of Dying", "Lizard Skin", " Clone", "Indians" and "The Heaviest Matter in the Universe" all from the Vieilles Charrues Festival 2010.
I've seen them live back in 2009 and they were killer even back then. Never banged me head harder
Chase - welcome to one of the major "rabbit holes" in music with Gojira. Definitely one of my favorite metal bands of all time. First and foremost, to answer your question - yes, his voice holds up well live during the entire show. The drummer (Mario) is widely considered one of the best in the entire genre right now, he's insane. Their catalog is pretty large at this point, but there are a few standouts that I'd love to toss your way. First and foremost, "The Art of Dying" and "Flying Whales" are tracks that you'll see the most in the comments below. Both are phenomenal. A personal favorite of mine that is critically underrated is "Oroborus". The entire "From Mars to Sirius" album doesn't have a bad song on it, and its widely considered a masterpiece. Their latest album "Magma" from 2016 is a little less thrash than the former ones and more prog-esque, but this track (Stranded) along with Silvera are fantastic. "Only Pain" is a song that they also play live often and is a staple of their sets. Thrilled that you're checking them out!!!
I agree with you also their album L'Enfant Sauvage is really good ! Its a transition beetween their firts album and Magma.

I've seen Gojira live. His voice was amazing during the whole concert. Fantastic musicians and people, very down to earth. Out of all the 6 studio albums they have, there isn't a single song i don't like. My favorite band :)
I’ve seen them live. Outdoor. It was loud. My ears rang after that. It was amazing. And I have video from the concert and it’s clean. Amazing perform life.

Seen them a few times live and man, what a band! They tend to start with a few heavy rockers that hit you right in your face, no slow intro just full-on blast - I miss live shows soooooo much right now...

I saw them live twice last year. Once headlining at a nightclub and later at a large amphitheater as third billing.

Seen'em live 4 times. Joe has on and off days with regards his voice. You can certainly tell the gigs that his voice isn't in a healthy place; he'll really back off the screaming quite a lot and cleanly sing even pieces that are screams.

One of the best live bands around. There's a lot of full set recordings on youtube. Well worth checking out more live stuff from these guys.
Joe's voice changed his vocal style in live shows after 2017 because of his aging and rest, basically sings some parts with cleans instead of shouting. 2015 downwards he was an absolute demon though.

UtA, Devin townsend, and totally GoJira ,,, i just love that you react to them. .. cause its gives me vindication that they are top notch!!!!! and i have seen gojira live .. he does hold up throughout the show.. he must have found a way to scream like that comfortably .. thankyou again chase for a top notch reaction.. They are incredibly powerful and tight live
Just a suggestion. If/when you feel like listening to more Gojira I highly recommend the Pol' and Rock Festival. The sound mixing is incredible and it gives more "life" to the songs. Their performance of Stranded in that recording might be my favourite ever.

Do what the song needs. That's Gojira in a nutshell. All of them play for the song, there is no "arrogance" in anyone to showcase just for the case of showing off. All has it's purpose. And this why they can be simple if they want but it's a lot of "simples" that put together make a great track. From the same album i would recommend Silvera, such a feelgood song or Lowlands as an ambience song. From previous albuns, L'enfant Sauvage, Flying Whales, The art of Dying.
They, indeed, are a whole lot of fun to watch live ! Hellfest is their home 🤘
My favorite band. They're amazing live. Seen them twice, once indoor and once outdoor, different energies but awesome either way.
Gojira is epic, the message behind their songs, their strong spirit, their energy.. And Mario is one of the best metal drummers ever! I’m listening to Magma on repeat, Silvera is one of my favorite songs :) They are the pride of France and Basque Country! 🇫🇷
Check out also Russian band Amatory, they have changed their style so many times over the years, from epic nu metal bangers to concept atmospheric electro core. My favorite song from their recent album Doom is Нож (The Knife), awesome rapcore. Also Звездная Грязь (Star Dust) has a melancholic addictive atmosphere

Never seen them in person but I have watched a few of their concerts and Joe's voice more than holds up the whole way through and he has been doing this for a long time. I dont know how he does it but I love the sound

I saw them in 2008 and i have seen them 4 more times since then and his voice actually changed into that, there were hints of his current vocals back then, but he has actually done more of it now. You should review the art of dying by them, or any song from the way of all flesh. I think you will be surprised by their technicality in comparison to this song.
The Art of Dying for heavy Gojira is a must, if you want to hear a softer side of the band listen to Born in Winter

As I said on other reviewers videos, Gojira are incredible BUT the festival atmosphere does not suit them, you need to be in a deep dark confined area with lots of people where that sound can really just fill all the space,
Festivals are notoriously bad for washing sound out.
You need to feel that chug in your stomach
