Pulled my MAP sensor last week because of this video, at 60k... Installing this Banks kit today! couldn't believe the soot. Just sucks to think so much of the intake looks like that.
I spoke with my local diesel mechanic and asked him about the CP4 bypass kit like the one installed on this truck and he told me that in 30+ years of working on diesel engines he's seen some things but never a failure on the fuel pump of a Ford diesel. He told me that if I had a dirty max he would definitely do it because trucks don't have a lift pump and that's why they fail. But chevy cargo vans with a diesel have a lift pump and never fail. You would think they would use the Van technology on their pickem up trucks. I plan to have my 2018 F350 dually for a very long time and want to make sure it runs to the best of it's ability. I'm currently in process of shedding a few pounds under the truck and tuning it to make it run as it was intended.
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod One of these days I am going to have to jump across the border and visit your shop, I don't have a diesel mechanic that does aftermarket mods, he only deals with OEM products in Windsor . @PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I installed the banks spacer. I took it off yesterday. lost power, engine bogged down, poor throttle response and a harmonic that sounded like 4wd was on all the time. Yes it was installed correctly, oring in place and sealed. map was fine, never unplugged it. Removed spacer, back to oem and all the above went away.
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Not yet. I hadn't done anything else, maintenance or change wise to the truck. Getting ready for towing trailer 400 miles to vacation. I didn't notice it right away. I was a sound silencing specialist on subs and very sensitive to that crap. Realizing the spacer was the only change, I double checked everything, but it's 4 bolts and an oring. I took it out just to make sure yesterday morning. Yep...so I took it off, put it back oem and took a ride. Night and day difference. I questioned the design to myself beforehand but figured smarter people than I designed it. 2 weeks ago I installed the banks MAP relocation part on my 2020 F350 that has 24,000 miles on it. I used carb cleaner to remove the soot, which it easily desolved. Was that an error to use carb cleaner rather than scraping the soot?

I'm curious what would make my truck on a hot day, cold start, idle slower than the starter spins, causing the starter to spin during a remote start? Truck was running but the starter kept spinning. I notice the starting idle is a bit low on cold start. Or, is this just normal for a 2019 F-450?
Sounds like the starter isn't dis-engaging properly. Might be time for a new one? The starter drive bendix is getting weak or not working correctly. The Bendix is what pushes the gear out to engage the 'flywheel' teeth, before the starter motor itself spins the gear, ring gear and starts vehicle. Take to a starter\alternator rebuild shop and they can fix it much cheaper than buying a new one. You can have it 'bench tested' to see if Bendix is retracting the gear, but might not work the same as it does installed on the truck. 👍🏻👌🏻🛠️🔧🔩 ✊🏻🇺🇸🦅
