For anyone else, just follow this "slightly raise the A pillar, run it behind the airbag, and most importantly when you reach the top of A pillar, run the wire behind the airbag not across the front of it." - I did it wrong here, and I'm planning on rectifying my mistake soon!
Hey bro, could you please please please do a short video to show how to do this? This is all new to me and have no idea which one is an A pillar and how to bypass the airbag. Also, I have connected my dash cam to the cig lighter as you showed, but the dash still has power even after the ignition is off. I have double checked on the car manual to see if I was indeed using the cig lighter fuse and it's definitely the right one. Any idea?
I'm in the middle of fitting a cam now to an A3, fitted loads of cameras in the past but this is fighting back, the only bad thing I'd say about this video is where the headlining meets the pillar trim, there the airbag, please people don't run your wires across an airbag, always go behind them if you can
Someone else has mentioned this below, and I need to try rectify this - thanks. For anyone else, just follow this "slightly raise the A pillar, run it behind the airbag, and most importantly when you reach the top of A pillar, run the wire behind the airbag not across the front of it."
I have the 622GW and this video was very good, helped heaps - thank you! Note for those wanting to use a nextbase dashcam - great dashcam but a bit awkward to place on a right hand drive Audi '18 S3 as the lens is over to the left of the camera, which picks up the centre mirror plastic unless you mount it further towards the driver and down, or over to the left side of the mirror as in this video . I mounted mine to the right and further down, as it has a touch screen.
Good video bro! If you want to hide more of the rear camera wire you’re able to go through the rubber boot on the boot lid but that means removing panels. Give us a shout if you need a hand with the nextbase products as I fit these all the time at work!
You don’t need to drill holes for the rear cameras wire to be hidden. You can remove the boots trim and then feed the wire through the rubber tubes that run the electrical wires to and from the boot door. It’s a bit more work but it’s not hard at all..
Did I miss the part where you attached the wire to the reverse light? That's what I'm more curious on these videos. It's a bit tough to find those videos for an audi. I'll prob get it professionally installed
Hi there great video, I was hoping that you might be able to help me with the wires on my dashcam colours on the "Hard Wire Unit" Black is marked GND which I take to be NEGATIVE Red is marked ACC which I am thinking might be POSITIVE when the ignition is ON Yellow is marked B+ 2103 🤔🤔🤔🤔 might be NEGATIVE when the ignition is OFF Have I got that correct 🤔🤔🤔
Hi bro, sorry for the late reply. I often don't always get notified regarding comments, which is annoying! I'm a little confused with what your asking. Feel free to send me some pictures, or videos on Instagram. Might be easier to help!
@@S3Ranj Hi there, thanks for the response, a couple of things that I have picked with reference to mine, when I select reverse gear it automatically switched to rear camera, and you state "what is parking mode" your Nexbase is on standby in case somebody bumps your car while you are in Asda etc. A hardwire photo coming up.
Acc is only powered when ignition on (continuous recording). B+ always getting power (parking mode). Usually for B+ use cigarette lighter fuse and Acc any other NON ESSENTIAL function which only gets power when ignition on
Just an fyi bro you’ve gone across the curtain airbag at the front and maybe even the back, quite dangerous. You need to slightly raise the A pillar, run it behind the airbag, and most importantly when you reach the top of A pillar, run the wire behind the airbag not across the front of it. And then start running it along curtain seal
If the airbag needs to go off, it can of course get in the way- but more likely, the airbag is powerful enough to snap straight through the wire, in which case you have an exposed wire whip you in the face/eyes at great great force
Great video brother, not sure i am confident enough to do it myself though. Can we buy ones that go on the sides too as a collision or break in could occur from the side? Also what are your thoughts on car prices booming, do you see a correction happening when the 22 plates come out?
Thanks bro! Trust me try it, take your time. Not sure about side, but these camera are wide angle, so will cover a lot. In regards to the prices, yeah, it's good. But, I'm not looking to sell, not really a good situation for me. But, it will come down. I reckon maybe next year, towards the end of the things should balance out.
@@S3Ranj Hi do you anyone who retrofits them virtual cockpits on Audi's. I have an 2017 A3 which i think would look a lot better with the cockpit, what are your thoughts? Would you put one in your car?
@@Burning_desire22 I already have one, and can tell you, I would want one in any far I get going foward. I do know some people who retrofit them. Try miiimods on instagram, tell him Ranj sent you.

Thanks man. Second video I've watch with great examples of how possible it feels to self install without a lot of autotech experiences.

Thanks so much for this video man! So so helpful 👏🏽 👏🏽 🙏🏽
Glad to have helped bro!
Useful video, so need to do that to mine! Got a wire running from the rear socket to the front as using front for extra USB :D
Thanks mate! Defo worth it.

I've not touched it since I installed it, so gonna leave it! But useful to know.
It's ''BASICALLY'' a good video!🤣
cant wait for the diffuser video!
Nor can I mate! 👊🏽
Brilliant video 👍
Cheers mate! 👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽
Really good DIY 👍🏼
Which slot to use for constant power?
Cool video but the wire at the back would drive me nuts 😂
I get you. No longer have this.

Reverse light? I didn't need to do that. I have two camera. Front and rear. So both are recording simultaneously.
smashed it bro
Thanks bro. You're killing it. I always appreciate the advice! 👊🏽
How do u do the fuse so that cam is always recording thanks
You just piggyback of a fuse, which always has power i.e. alarm system.
Where did you get the phone mount that you have between your air vents?
I got it from Amazon!
