Love those wool blankets, winter time I put one on my bed over the duvet it makes a massive difference. I like your kit it's almost the same as mine and I always have a hot water bottle it's the best part of the evening getting in a warm bag.
A good pair of small pruning shears is good to have in your kit they are quite to use for cutting small tinder around 1inch and smaller and you don't have to burn up so many calories to use them as you would be using chopping and make sure you have a sharping stone and a file
when i see that backpack, i think about where life would be great with an ATV, Mrs. Bushwaker at the back, and out through the woods to camp ground, fresh and ready for a good outdoor weekend.

Other than that, still must everything is the same, other than the brand name. I also use a military sleeping bag in the winter. The extreme cold weather OLA100-84-C-4060 to be exact. Most of my stuff is military surplus. Molle II pack, 2 wool blankets, sleeping bag, the ka bar, shovel, rain gear, some of my cook set and a couple of other odds and ends. It must have something to do with age. I've seen packs from other guys our age carry close to the same thing.

I had one of those bergens when I was an adult instructor with the Somerset Army Cadets and when I left it was still in great condition! Considering how many times is was thrown into the bottom of a coach of in a Bedford 4 tonne lorry! Looking to get another one soon😊
Nice load out. I usually have few backups as well. I the multi cam rain gear. Military surplus here is to pricey. For day hikes i switch over to the helicon tex bushcraft but for overnight stays i still the military surplus molle 2 .
If you use frh's you can put them into your hotty cover after heating your food as a nice little lap/foot/handwarmer, heats valuable out there, use every scrap of it that you can :-D Shemagh tassles are great firestarters too.
I never filter water 💧 and simply drink direct from streams, rivers and lakes. 17kg is very light for such a large volume bag plus extras strapped outside (obviously the wool blankets are taking up the majority of volume). I often carry 25-35kg in a Kata 57l or my Fjallraven Kajka 65l.

This is really cool! I'm going to research bergens now. Say, I was wondering, have you used that scotch eye auger much? I saw one video where they tested them in the field, and they ended up not being practical because the torque needed rapidly increases with depth, to the point of unusability.
Are you sure that this Loadout is only 16 kg without water? Is that half or a full Lavvu? I have a similar Loadout on a Medium size ALICE and I'm coming in at 21 kg without food, but 2 litres of water. Heaviest items you have appear to be the Lavvu, two wool blankets and the 4 season sleeping bag, that alone must be a fair few kg.

I always carry more than one ferro rods. One on my knife one in my pocket with a paracord lanyard attached to my belt and one in my cook kit. I also carry three lighters and storm proof matches. Fire making is too important to not be without also char cloth jute twine and vaseline soaked cotton balls.
Dude! Where are you going and for how long? People spend 3months on the SO &PCT with less junk!!! The cold weather gear is ok but dump or find lighter alternatives to the rest of that stuff! Or are you just going 100feet into th woods??

This is more of an INCH bag than just a mere winter wild-camping bag. It's good, but way overkill for anything over than a societal collapse survival system IMO.
I'm just learning - and you had great suggestions for your kit. Makes me think of going the rucksack way instead of a conventional pack. Setting up an BOB/INCH bag so need lots of size. I figure in winter to need a couple wool blankets too. My wife thinks i should go with the 70L bag - but seems far too tiny for long term use. Thanks for the video
I've got the same bergan and I find it uncomfortable, granted I'm only 5,7 tall and 11 stone so maybe it's too big for me. I only carry 10 kilo but it doesn't feel good.
They were designed to be worn with a belt kit. They rest on the pouches. The hip pads are too short and anyone with no hips will find a Bergen quite uncomfortable.
Same with my electric blanket, having to spend a few pounds on electric cable. Once the government installs battery charging ports all over the UK they might think about bushcrafters and all there electrical kit. 🤡🇬🇧

Umbrella fabric is a fantastic thing To pack which has many uses.
Also I carry some 50lb fishing braid along with 6 inch upholstery needles.

20 Ltrs with a yoke. The side pouches are 10 Ltrs ea.

Try the short back version if the long back is uncomfortable 👍👍
