    Greetings from the UK and a fellow child of the 60's , you have 1 years experience over me LOL
    Great simple and concise kit, didn't see a sleeping bag though so figure it's not necessary at the times that you go BCing.
    For anyone asking about that takedown saw, Paul Sellers does a make your own carpenters frame saw video, looks really like that takedown one when assembled and you can make the addition of a groove to house the blade simple enough.

    Like the bottle cap idea. I carry a rollerblade wheel bearing but think it would be easier on my hand if I put it inside the bottle cap. I could glue it in to make it one piece. Can't go wrong with a sylnylon tarp. Nice video

      Replace the beer bottle cap with the cap on your plastic water bottle, put a coin in there, use it as hand block, take the coin out and screw the cap back on the water bottle. You could even carry an extra plastic cap for this purpose. A plastic cap has no sharp edges that wears down your gear or hurt your hand. Also the beer cap gets way hotter than a plastic cap with a coin in there. You will find it more convenient probably and end up with a shiny coin.

    Two saws an axe seems like a lot of wood processing tools not to mention the knives way more gear and weight than most people would carry even with the emergency gear for a simple day hike. But maybe it's just me.

    • @Woodswalker1965
      @Woodswalker1965  4 роки тому

      Yes it's a lot of gear for sure, you're right. The small saw is more for crafting. A day in the woods for me definitely involves a fire and a meal and could last 10-12 hrs. In that way the gear for a day hike differs little from a overnight kit except for the sleep system.
      Some choose to carry less and sometimes I do but usually it's pretty close to this.

      I have an old 21" X 15" wood bucksaw given to me by a friend who's over 70 that he got when he was young. I also have a bigger one that has a blade that looks at least twice as wide as the greenwood blade you showed with a lot of small teeth on it but not like a hacksaw. Never seen that style before.

    Say Heah B'Waljer, Since it's still mild weather, my Bushcraft Gear starts with my Kodiak Gearsling, My Man Tool's are my 3V Skookum Bush Tool, and my Ka-Bar Johnson Adventure Parangatang which I clear Brambles and Chop, and I can Baton with. I also attached my Agawa Canyon 21 Boreal Saw with a extra Aggressive saw blade in my Crazy Horse Scabbard. I also take my Gerber Multi Tool to take my hot pots off the fire. I also have other knives and I can also add my 2Hawks Double Bit Hatchet to my carry or either or instead if my Parangatang.,,.p

      Woodswalker 1965 Say Heah to Rod Garcia for me. Tell him my 3V Skookum Bush Tool is one of my Fav's. I know your going to love yours. It's an Outstanding knife. Mine was made with more of a Continuous Curve that I use that belly to make Awesome Feathersticks with, I also have a extended thumb area on the handle that makes the knife look a little shorter, but it's still a 4" blade and perfect for me to carve with. Yeah, I know you will love yours.,,. p

    the one thing i did not see in your pack was a way to purify water? im sure the boiling water would do, just didn't seem right not to mention that.

    • @Woodswalker1965
      @Woodswalker1965  4 роки тому

      True, I mostly rely on boiling unless I'm backpacking and on the move. In that case I use a Sawyer Squeeze. Its outlined in my backpacking gear vid. Thanks for the input and you are correct , safe drinking water is very important. Take care👍

    Nice vid. That kit is great. I was wondering about the hip belt on your pack. It looks kind of thin to help alot with distribution of weight to the hips... how do you like it ?

    • @Woodswalker1965
      @Woodswalker1965  7 років тому

      +BushcraftMtl Axe Hey brother! Yes it is a bit on the thin side but it has structure to it. Its rigid so it does transfer the load to my hips very comfortably. So far no complaints. Take care!

    Доброго времени суток... Мне вот всегда интересно, смотря подобные видео, какой суммарный вес занимает упаковка снаряжения? И на сколько это удобно, ведь одно дело когда хорошая погода, сухо, тепло и травка зелёная, и другое когда сыро, холодно и грязь под ногами... И не куда положить снаряжение рюкзака, когда из него что то нужно достать, ну например из середины или дна... С Уважением Охотник, Рыбак и Путишественник.
    Good time of day... I always wonder, watching these videos, what is the total weight of the package of equipment? And how convenient it is, because it is one thing when the weather is good, dry, warm and the grass is green, and another when it is wet, cold and mud under your feet... And not where to put the equipment of the backpack, when you need to get something out of it, well, for example, from the middle or bottom... Sincerely, Hunter, Fisherman and Traveler.

    • @Woodswalker1965
      @Woodswalker1965  4 роки тому

      Good question. Pack weight can vary but it usually is in between 20-30 lbs. As far as finding things in the pack, I will put the things I need most at the top of the pack or on the outside for easy access. The items on the bottom I need last. Hope that answers your question, thanks for watching my friend!
