I remember when you did projects in an alley behind where you lived. You had very few tools back then, yet you created some really lovely pieces. You acquired tools bit by bit, as you have now made this your job, but your creativity, and the skills you have honed over time, make your pieces special.
Agreed
Agreed!
I too remember when he worked in the back ally. Yes, I agree ,Jay has come along way n made some awesome pieces of furniture with a few tools. The wonderful thing about all of this, is he’s self taught himself. He keeps getting better every time. ♥️😊👍
You are right 🙂 but most people just assume things Thank you
@@Flippingdrawers Well if _I_ had a UA-cam channel with 150,000 subscribers, I could find the time to refurbish furniture, too!
Clearly too many people haven't been watching you from early on when you had like $200 worth of tools and were simply winging it as you learned. Furniture has been built for millennia -- if you "need" a laser cutter to make it, then you're better at coming up with excuses than doing a project.
My recommendation for people who are afraid to start a new thing -- just friggin' do it. I don't do furniture, but do a lot with laser cutting and 3D printing (and some CNC) and painting. Each new project gets better than the last. It's the only way to do it.
My last project had exactly zero to do with laser cutters or any other expensive equipment. I made a "Pennywise Halloween Pumpkin" with one of those styrofoam pumpkins from a craft store and a tub of foam clay (and some paint). All told, cost was maybe $30. And it was FUN and came out great.
You are a great craftsman. But cats are simply extremely beautiful.
Thank you very much!
how could you tell your kitty they aren't helping? they're clearly doing the majority of the work! what a good beautiful kitty 😻
They are not helping, they are inspecting. Keeping an eye on the fittability of cat-sized objects.
I know, right?😂
Don't insult the suPURRvisor!
LOL! One does not tell a kitty anything. The superior species knows it is above all things hooman. We hoomans are simply PEZ dispensers for their treats, a warm lap, and daily maid/chef/servant. But we can't help but love them.
I have a snoopy cat, now all I need is a project piece!
The cats are adorable. Mando is such a handsome fellow. Another magical transformation!
Thank you 🙏
Hands! The people complaining that they don’t have all your tools also need hands! You are very patient and kind to point out to people other options they can use. I’ve watched you for sometime, and I’ve seen you slowly add tools to your arsenal. Any worthwhile endeavor is the same. Work hard with what you’ve got until you can get more.
Thanks for coming along on my UA-cam journey 🙂
You took those drawers and gave them an air of respect and self esteem!
Thank you 🤩
Mondo is gorgeous
As SOON as I saw the opening of this UA-cam and the piece, my first thought was, “Wow, look at all those drawers!” But again, how lovely you made it look (after more than 2000 hours of sanding). Even your rustic finished pieces look wonderful. And cute kitties together - so glad they get long.
Wow, thank you!
I love to see Mando getting on with the neighbors. Kit Nip in moderation is a joy for the cat and a giggle for the humans. I enjoy how you take the ordinary and damaged and create something special. I does take things you can't buy though; patience, vision and follow through.
I love your videos so much! It's also a really nice inclusion to mention how beginners or those without fancy tools can do the same stuff. Mando playing on the body of the drawers like a climbing frame is adorable :D
Glad you liked the video. Thanks for watching
Great transformation, well done. Why do some people not appreciate the patience and skill that goes into this work, thinking it is just down to the tools, could it be jealousy? Thank you for all the tips for those who are are just starting out or have limited tools and supplies
Thank you very much! Glad it was helpful
It's nice to see you have a supervisor to help you with the work you do . Mando is perfect for you he gets along with the neighborhood cats . It's always nice to see someone else that loves cats as much as I do. We have always called my cat supervisor Bosco . He was 9 weeks old when I got him from a local animal shelter . I just wanted to say that chest turned out nice. Knotted pine is not always the easiest furniture to work with . Those krots can be hard to sand because they are very rough . I know a lot of of furniture has veneer on it . All the furniture in my house is solid wood. You always do a good job on everything you work on . I've seen you work on pieces that I thought were a lost cause but you made them look great . Prayers and Love 💞 From Oklahoma
PS can't wait to see what's next
Much appreciated 🤩 thanks for watching 🐾
As always, thank you so much for your kind and peaceful conversation. I enjoy watching your old and new projects.
You have been a great inspiration! I'm disabled and I live on a remote island in Southeast Alaska. Supplies here are quite limited so I have to rely on Amazon and eBay so I'm waiting for several more items to arrive. I have three projects already in my house. My only work area is inside my house so that's one serious limitation so I think I may get a circular saw guide.
I absolutely love how much you explain what you are doing and why you are doing it that way. I have recommended your channel in a Facebook group. Thanks to you I'm fairly confident about making small repairs to veneer. Due to physical limitations I'll have to stick to smaller more manageable pieces, end tables, small coffee tables, desks etc.
P. S. I just ordered an iron to raise the fibers in dings 2:42
That’s wonderful that you are taking on these projects.
Because you are doing these inside…
PLEASE use water based and non-toxic things. PLEASE GET A MASK that will prevent you from breathing in dust and fumes (even the ‘safe’ ones) these things can AND WILL wreck havoc with your sinuses, lungs, and points further in.
Most folks that do refinishing, restorations, and even repairs don’t take as much care of their bodies as they should. Further on down the road they will develop issues & won’t connect those dots.
I have some disabilities myself. I can’t do furniture like Jay does, but I can do other things which I do. I am very careful with what products I use because I have seen my lungs have issues just from working around other things in the past. I connected the dots. I don’t want anything further to happen. I already developed asthma.
So, that’s my plea. I hope you do projects, have fun, AND be safe and take care of your body.
✌🏻Kevin
I absolutely love this piece! The dark and light finishes are perfect! I even really like all the knots! The casters were the perfect finish! Fabulous!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Love the storage for the cat.
The myriad knots may have been imperfections and signs of a cheap wood, but they look so pretty and interesting when veiled by the Jacobean stain!
Looks like a catty re-enactment of the Sistine chapel! 🐈 Catnip is fun!
Nice job, by-the-way. Please ignore the tools complaining they don't have the tools🤔! For me it's patience that I lack over all - it astounds me how much you have for every piece of wood. Thank the 🌳🌲🌴 gods for all that wonderful wood & thank you for loving it.
Ooooo! ALL those drawers, having fun thinking of all the goodies I could put in those. Absolutely STUNNING! I love the contrast between dark and light and the hardware is great too. Fabulous job!
Mando is such a good supervisor!
I’m not sure if I’d call it rustic, but maybe “rustic chic”! It’s lovely, well done!
Love your new inspector so cute. Great Job.
Jay I was watching a young kid who gave you a shout out for helping him with how to apply a sheet of veneer Furniture Flippa. Very cool that you and David all interact and help each other out. Your little Mondo is very curious and fun to watch. You have great taste in your hardware and I think the stain you chose for this was very nice. Love your channel 🇺🇸❤️
Thank you ☺️ I simply try to pay it forward 🙂 have met some kind people along my UA-cam journey so now that I’m in a position where it can do it all try whenever I can 😇
For the top boards being the worst you've ever seen, this whole piece sure turned out beautifully! I love the contrasting stains. All those drawers would make it perfect for organizing an art studio! And, of course, Mando is an excellent model.
Agreed. I was picturing my art supplies in it while he was working on it. 😁
@@revdupartist9386 right? And all those lovely new drawer pulls with a spot to label what goes into them.
Thank you! 😊
Believe it or not, those planks would have been hand selected for the boutique shabby chic pieces that are so popular here in Southeast US.
That brings a whole new meaning to knotty pine. 😱🤣 Great job - love the colors you used.
Mando is getting so big! He's absolutely beautiful. 😍
This one is a fantastic makeover. I love the contrast of dark and light wood, and I love the drawer pulls and rusty wheels, too.
Thank you 🤩
Mando is gorgeous!
Absolutely way too COOL! I love it! I thought you were going to repaint it and I'm so glad you didn't! And the Jacobean stain - PERFECT! - it's one of my favorites. Thank you for taking suck good care of the "neighborhood kitties" shows just how much of a kind soul that you have😊
Well done! Interestingly, the knots on the low-grade pine look beautiful with the stain. Another magnificent and inspiring restoration!
Thank you 🤩
Another wonderful transformation!! Love the kitty in the drawer❤️❤️❤️❤️
There is something so classy about unpainted wood. What a beauty.❤
The master has struck again! Simply beautiful.
That chest of drawers was a MESS to start with! I LOVE the final result!
PS When you told Mando that he wasn't helping, I'm pretty sure I heard him say, "BUT DAD!!!" It's great that he and Hugo and the other kitties are getting along. Tell Hugo not to hit the catnip so hard next time!
Cheers from Virginia, USA!!!! ❤
Pine is not my favorite wood, but you sure know how to make it look beautiful. So happy to see Mando and Hugo getting along. I just love watching their shananigans. 🐾🐾
I love anything with lots of drawers. You did this piece justice. Love it. Sweet cats
Thank you 🙏
Mando is helping! He's the quality control officer!
Красота изделия зависит от задумки и умения мастера + инструменты,
что не мешает воплотить задуманное.Спасибо за видео.
I love this piece! Catnip-drunk cats can be really funny. 😊
lol this was my first time seeing it
Ohh my! That would be great in my studio! It’s fabulous Jay xx
Rustic is beautiful!! (The cats are entertaining!!)
Never apologize for having the right equipment!
Im happy you didn’t avoid using your “fancy “ tools. I’m never going to rework a piece of furniture. I just enjoy watching the magic you achieve.
Thank you 🙏
You are a perfectionist! Not a bad thing! What you restore, repair and make beautiful again, it's a joy to watch you. ❤
Gorgeous work. Absolutely running out of words to say how talented you are Jay.
Thank you 🤩
I think that’s your best yet, I love it loads x
Bravo, Jay!!!👏👏👏👏
Once again you took a rather forlorn chest of drawers (made from possibly the worst solid wood), and made it into not just a very elegant piece of furniture but an eminently useful one as well!
So many possibilities! WELL DONE!!!🎉
You have a very curious helper, he/she is really beautiful!
This restoration was incredible. I so enjoy your videos. Your sweet Mando kitty is delightful! You are a true craftsman!❤❤❤
It is always a pleasure to watch you take an ordinary piece of furniture and turn it into something special. It is not the tools that make you. Your vision, patience, and perseverance makes you a master at your craft. Well done once again!!
Thank you 😻
Mando is turning into a very handsome boy! He is so inquisitive, always exploring, and it's lovely to watch him getting up to stuff. You are a real craftsman as you revive old battered pieces of furniture. Thank you for showing us your skills.
😊 thank you
Beautiful!!! I hope you're paying your helpers! They do such good work for you. 😊
Clearly you couldn't have done anything without your "assistant". You are going to be SOO productive from now on!🐱
I like what you did with the stain. The contrast between the dark brown and the unstained pine is so much better than a painted finish.
Another successful "trash to treasure" project!
This was a beautiful restoration, Jay.
Beautiful transformation. Love it.
Love the results, especially the two-tone finish. Mando is adorable. He looks so pettable!
Thank you! 😊
Great job,loved the cats❤
Beautiful work and the gorgeous cat is the perfect accent.
Thank you very much!
I should stop being so surprised at the magnificent product you ALWAYS turn out.
My favorite part is the end when you show the before and after.
That turned out beautiful!
Great job fixing up the plain pine box into a lovely statement piece! Keeping it clean & simple is always a good choice😺
Also, I really like how you're always so encouraging. "You can do it too! Just give it a try!" I really think I can! Thanks Jay!🐯💪🏼
Your cat has the most beautiful markings!!!
Hugo and Mando high on the nip is great to see! The only one you have to please on your projects you are keeping is yourself! The brown/tan color pattern is nice. Glad you did not go crazy on the repairs. It looks super!
Thank you 🙏 Mando says 🐾
@@Flippingdrawers Your accent sounded more O than A. Tell Mando I corrected it and that I am sorry!
Great transformation, stylish storage
That turned out fantastic! What a great upgrade 😻
So encouraging for newbies. It’s surprising, I know people who like the knots in pine and find it adds character. Each to their own. 👏🏻
You have such a BEAUTIFUL kitty cat!! It makes me want one!
Don’t apologize for using cool tools. That’s half the fun of becoming a craftsman. It turned out beautifully.
Thanks 🙏
The cats are my favourite part. The furniture refinishing is pretty good too!!
That looks lovely now, so much nicer without that hideous paint! Great job ❤
Kitty is absolutely helping....for sure you get more likes because of Mando. He's so gorgeous
Who wouldn't want to own something this useful, unique and pretty to look at.
Gosh dear what an inspector you brought in 🤭😻👀!!!
Your cat is beautiful! Gorgeous piece of furniture! I love all of the design choices, especially the wheels!
It came out beautiful, great job. Mondo is a character, is he a hard boss? Lol. Love your videos, thanks for sharing.
Thank you! 😊
As always, that piece turned out beautiful. I think your next project is a kitty condo for Mando!
Woodwork and cats. What's not to love???? ❤
Love the two toned, rustic look. The pulls, and the casters really add that extra emphasis. Thanks so much for sharing with us😊😊. Give Mando and the other kitties lots of scratches
Wow! Another outstanding redo. Mando is adorable. ❤️
Yet another awesome transformation Jay. Love it 🤎🤎 Keep the videos coming 😍
Gorgeous transformation and kitty is beyond adorable!
Once again...I REALLY like the 2 toned option.
Thanks mate 🙂 much appreciated
My cat thinks he is helpful with my projects as well. Such a cutie. Great work on this project!
Gorgeous 😍 Your work never ceases to amaze me!
While I enjoy watching you transform furniture that others would pass up into beautiful new pieces, I have to admit, seeing your and the neighbors cats makes my day. We lost the last of our four early in March with two others in the 17 months before hand. The first passed in 2017. Thanks for sharing the cats.
My heart goes out to you. Mine died a few years ago and it’s still hard, but I am so grateful they were in my life.
@@revdupartist9386 Thank you so much. I'm sorry for your loss to. You never forget. My first cat, whom I named our daughter after, passed in 1978 and I still miss her. I miss all the pets. They are family.
Thank you! 😊 glad you enjoy
@@Flippingdrawers You are very welcome.
That looks really nice, can't believe how smart it turned out well done and the kitten is epic too
Really good choices (and work) made for a great outcome here!
The kitty takes your videos to another level! 😻😻😻
It’s been so much fun watching your workshop grow!
Thank you ☺️
Love watching you turn furniture into works of art. Also love seeing the kitties! 🐈⬛
Thank you! 😊
I'd love that for my kitchen! It's beautiful ❤
Thank you! 😊
@@Flippingdrawers you're welcome!
I love all the smaller drawers. Nice piece.❤️
Thank you! 🤗
ME WANT!! Another stunning piece, Jay. Love from the Midwest USA.
Thank you! Cheers!
You just forgot to mention that in order to realize so beautiful restorations you need help from an involved cat 😅
I love the two toned effect and the drawer pulls are perfect!
I really like the two-tone finish, something different. The hardware and casters are perfect for this piece.
I know you will do a fabulous job but I think you may be tired of sanding all the drawers when you are done.
How in the world does your comment say 2 hrs ago? for me it says the vid is 35 minutes old and that other comments also are fairly new. That's crazy, do you know how?
You do amazing work, bringing discarded furniture back to beautiful and useful pieces. I love your new fur-baby.
I love the number of drawers. The most drawers I've found was 9. Mando was giving moral support to keep you going. Yay for furry friends 🧡 Great end look.
The two tones match Mando very well! The dresser turned out very nice.
Thank you! 😊
The drawers came up beautifully.
