I remember when you did projects in an alley behind where you lived. You had very few tools back then, yet you created some really lovely pieces. You acquired tools bit by bit, as you have now made this your job, but your creativity, and the skills you have honed over time, make your pieces special.
I too remember when he worked in the back ally. Yes, I agree ,Jay has come along way n made some awesome pieces of furniture with a few tools. The wonderful thing about all of this, is he’s self taught himself. He keeps getting better every time. ♥️😊👍
@@Flippingdrawers Well if _I_ had a UA-cam channel with 150,000 subscribers, I could find the time to refurbish furniture, too! Clearly too many people haven't been watching you from early on when you had like $200 worth of tools and were simply winging it as you learned. Furniture has been built for millennia -- if you "need" a laser cutter to make it, then you're better at coming up with excuses than doing a project. My recommendation for people who are afraid to start a new thing -- just friggin' do it. I don't do furniture, but do a lot with laser cutting and 3D printing (and some CNC) and painting. Each new project gets better than the last. It's the only way to do it. My last project had exactly zero to do with laser cutters or any other expensive equipment. I made a "Pennywise Halloween Pumpkin" with one of those styrofoam pumpkins from a craft store and a tub of foam clay (and some paint). All told, cost was maybe $30. And it was FUN and came out great.
As SOON as I saw the opening of this UA-cam and the piece, my first thought was, “Wow, look at all those drawers!” But again, how lovely you made it look (after more than 2000 hours of sanding). Even your rustic finished pieces look wonderful. And cute kitties together - so glad they get long.
Love the two toned, rustic look. The pulls, and the casters really add that extra emphasis. Thanks so much for sharing with us😊😊. Give Mando and the other kitties lots of scratches
I absolutely love this piece! The dark and light finishes are perfect! I even really like all the knots! The casters were the perfect finish! Fabulous!!!
Nice job! Love the casters and pulls. People need to remember where there’s a will, there’s a way. You always start with the basics & build from there.
I love to see Mando getting on with the neighbors. Kit Nip in moderation is a joy for the cat and a giggle for the humans. I enjoy how you take the ordinary and damaged and create something special. I does take things you can't buy though; patience, vision and follow through.
It is always a pleasure to watch you take an ordinary piece of furniture and turn it into something special. It is not the tools that make you. Your vision, patience, and perseverance makes you a master at your craft. Well done once again!!
I thoroughly enjoy watching your restoration and the results you obtain ! Thank you for the conversation during your project! God bless you abundantly! ❤️🙏🦊
Hands! The people complaining that they don’t have all your tools also need hands! You are very patient and kind to point out to people other options they can use. I’ve watched you for sometime, and I’ve seen you slowly add tools to your arsenal. Any worthwhile endeavor is the same. Work hard with what you’ve got until you can get more.
Another inspiring transformation-handsome work! This was a wonderful teaching episode. Your explanations are narrated so clearly.! You made it seem like we could learn to do this craft. 😃 I enjoy seeing your beautiful work shop and discussion of your tools & choices as much as your quality work. So many drawers…. Thank you for showing the laser cutter, again. The samurai or knight statue in battle mode in your opening shot near this labor intensive piece is humorous & clever. You are a knight of woodworking & restoration. Love the cats visiting & hopped on cat nip. Mondo (Mandolin) is so stunning! ~Loved him weaving in & out of the drawer slots. Charming.
LOL! One does not tell a kitty anything. The superior species knows it is above all things hooman. We hoomans are simply PEZ dispensers for their treats, a warm lap, and daily maid/chef/servant. But we can't help but love them.
It's nice to see you have a supervisor to help you with the work you do . Mando is perfect for you he gets along with the neighborhood cats . It's always nice to see someone else that loves cats as much as I do. We have always called my cat supervisor Bosco . He was 9 weeks old when I got him from a local animal shelter . I just wanted to say that chest turned out nice. Knotted pine is not always the easiest furniture to work with . Those krots can be hard to sand because they are very rough . I know a lot of of furniture has veneer on it . All the furniture in my house is solid wood. You always do a good job on everything you work on . I've seen you work on pieces that I thought were a lost cause but you made them look great . Prayers and Love 💞 From Oklahoma PS can't wait to see what's next
I love your videos so much! It's also a really nice inclusion to mention how beginners or those without fancy tools can do the same stuff. Mando playing on the body of the drawers like a climbing frame is adorable :D
I love the finished product. Those types of furniture with lots of drawers that is vintage are so hard to find. Even if they’re a mess they still cost a fortune. Your finished product was beautiful. I buy that!
Ooooo! ALL those drawers, having fun thinking of all the goodies I could put in those. Absolutely STUNNING! I love the contrast between dark and light and the hardware is great too. Fabulous job!
Your Bengal kitty is so precious. It is a joy now to see you have a kitty of your own. AND you do a wonderful job on the pieces you transform. What I was EXTREMELY impressed with is the work table with all the places for your tools…mitre saw etc. I wanted one 😊
For the top boards being the worst you've ever seen, this whole piece sure turned out beautifully! I love the contrasting stains. All those drawers would make it perfect for organizing an art studio! And, of course, Mando is an excellent model.
Jay I was watching a young kid who gave you a shout out for helping him with how to apply a sheet of veneer Furniture Flippa. Very cool that you and David all interact and help each other out. Your little Mondo is very curious and fun to watch. You have great taste in your hardware and I think the stain you chose for this was very nice. Love your channel 🇺🇸❤️
Thank you ☺️ I simply try to pay it forward 🙂 have met some kind people along my UA-cam journey so now that I’m in a position where it can do it all try whenever I can 😇
You have been a great inspiration! I'm disabled and I live on a remote island in Southeast Alaska. Supplies here are quite limited so I have to rely on Amazon and eBay so I'm waiting for several more items to arrive. I have three projects already in my house. My only work area is inside my house so that's one serious limitation so I think I may get a circular saw guide. I absolutely love how much you explain what you are doing and why you are doing it that way. I have recommended your channel in a Facebook group. Thanks to you I'm fairly confident about making small repairs to veneer. Due to physical limitations I'll have to stick to smaller more manageable pieces, end tables, small coffee tables, desks etc. P. S. I just ordered an iron to raise the fibers in dings 2:42
That’s wonderful that you are taking on these projects. Because you are doing these inside… PLEASE use water based and non-toxic things. PLEASE GET A MASK that will prevent you from breathing in dust and fumes (even the ‘safe’ ones) these things can AND WILL wreck havoc with your sinuses, lungs, and points further in. Most folks that do refinishing, restorations, and even repairs don’t take as much care of their bodies as they should. Further on down the road they will develop issues & won’t connect those dots. I have some disabilities myself. I can’t do furniture like Jay does, but I can do other things which I do. I am very careful with what products I use because I have seen my lungs have issues just from working around other things in the past. I connected the dots. I don’t want anything further to happen. I already developed asthma. So, that’s my plea. I hope you do projects, have fun, AND be safe and take care of your body. ✌🏻Kevin
Pine is not my favorite wood, but you sure know how to make it look beautiful. So happy to see Mando and Hugo getting along. I just love watching their shananigans. 🐾🐾
Mando is turning into a very handsome boy! He is so inquisitive, always exploring, and it's lovely to watch him getting up to stuff. You are a real craftsman as you revive old battered pieces of furniture. Thank you for showing us your skills.
Great transformation, well done. Why do some people not appreciate the patience and skill that goes into this work, thinking it is just down to the tools, could it be jealousy? Thank you for all the tips for those who are are just starting out or have limited tools and supplies
That chest of drawers was a MESS to start with! I LOVE the final result! PS When you told Mando that he wasn't helping, I'm pretty sure I heard him say, "BUT DAD!!!" It's great that he and Hugo and the other kitties are getting along. Tell Hugo not to hit the catnip so hard next time! Cheers from Virginia, USA!!!! ❤
Hugo and Mando high on the nip is great to see! The only one you have to please on your projects you are keeping is yourself! The brown/tan color pattern is nice. Glad you did not go crazy on the repairs. It looks super!
Bravo, Jay!!!👏👏👏👏 Once again you took a rather forlorn chest of drawers (made from possibly the worst solid wood), and made it into not just a very elegant piece of furniture but an eminently useful one as well! So many possibilities! WELL DONE!!!🎉
This drawer unit could work in so many places. It would be great in a pantry room or an office or just about anywhere. Good job! I love the casters. Nice footage of the little nipheads too! LOL! Mando looks like he's settled in and a happy boy!

Your cat has the most beautiful markings!!!
Woodwork and cats. What's not to love???? ❤
Once again...I REALLY like the 2 toned option.
Thanks mate 🙂 much appreciated
The cats are adorable. Mando is such a handsome fellow. Another magical transformation!
Thank you 🙏
Beautifully done, especially the rounded edges of the drawers which accentuates the contrast to the dark frame
Mando is helping! He's the quality control officer!
You are a great craftsman. But cats are simply extremely beautiful.
Thank you very much!

Mando is such a good supervisor!
indeed, a satisfying transformation. great colors
That looks lovely now, so much nicer without that hideous paint! Great job ❤
You did an excellent job on this piece and a whole lot of work. It turned out great. You have a lot of patience.
Mondo is gorgeous
Teacher and foundling, this is definitely the way, great job too👍
Thank you! 😃
Gosh dear what an inspector you brought in 🤭😻👀!!!
You took those drawers and gave them an air of respect and self esteem!
Thank you 🤩
Your cat is beautiful! Gorgeous piece of furniture! I love all of the design choices, especially the wheels!
It is great to watch these transformations!
Love watching you turn furniture into works of art. Also love seeing the kitties! 🐈⬛

Gorgeous 😍 Your work never ceases to amaze me!
My cat thinks he is helpful with my projects as well. Such a cutie. Great work on this project!
how could you tell your kitty they aren't helping? they're clearly doing the majority of the work! what a good beautiful kitty 😻
They are not helping, they are inspecting. Keeping an eye on the fittability of cat-sized objects.
I know, right?😂
Don't insult the suPURRvisor!

The two tones match Mando very well! The dresser turned out very nice.

The myriad knots may have been imperfections and signs of a cheap wood, but they look so pretty and interesting when veiled by the Jacobean stain!

That brings a whole new meaning to knotty pine. 😱🤣 Great job - love the colors you used.

How patient you are with your precious kitty. ❤
Love the storage for the cat.

I don't care for pine wood, however you made this look really good.
I don't think I want to redo furniture, but I like watching you work. 😊

This was a beautiful restoration, Jay.
I really like the two-tone finish, something different. The hardware and casters are perfect for this piece.
