The Bee Gees sound like a broken heart was a great thing to have, all tra-la-la and junk...nah, fam. Rev AL (Green, that is) wins this heartily. This really wasn’t even close to me.
I read somewhere that Barry Gibb said in an interview that Al Green did the best version. I usually like the original version but this is hands down Al Green. In fact, it's number one on my gas station playlist.
Sir Al Green 😘. No one else can give that type of emotion through his arrangements. He's a pure genius 😉. Everyone continue to stay safe, and blessed. Much love from Philadelphia. 🍻💙
Al Green's poignant soulful arrangement does it for me everytime👏🙌 This was during a period of the 70s when the Bee Gees would release a song, and then shortly after an R&B act would release a new cover version. It was the same way when Pat Boone and Elvis copied Little Richard in the 50s, but in reverse. 😂 I still love the Bee Gees and Rev Al Green. Great music will live forever. 🎤🎶🎵
The Bee Gees were born into a poor family that clung together through rough times. Their circumstances as youngsters came through their writing their entire lives; Barry Gibb (the sole surviving brother) said in an interview that black soul music was the epitome, the most important music, the music that brought their mutual feelings out. It's not surprising that what they wrote was picked up and covered so well by artists who were steeped in the genre they admired most.
Meeeee tooooo🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣....but I never could stand The Bee Gees anyway. Truth be told, back in the day, I really didn’t like Al either, but I’ve evolved (I guess-still cannot stand those whiny beegees, I’m sure that will never change🤷🏾♀️)
The Bee Gees' version, with their excellent harmonies, is a very good Pop version, of Al Green's version, which is ladened with pure unadulterated Soul...
Now you know who did this song better with all that soul flowing through the air coming from Al Green, can listen to this all day and not be tired of it thanks for sharing
To be honest Al Green doesn’t even have to sing a word to win this...that organ’s first few chords wins it for him. After reading the comments this is almost a laughable comparison. Al’s arrangement...the horns, the organ, the violins and EVEN the background singers are better. Al Greens’ voice is just the cherry on top of this version🍒by the way I love The Bee Gees just not this song by them.
Their version sounds like they're telling a friend about the love of their life who left. Al sounds like he's laying it all on the line and is begging his woman for one more chance.
Al Green all the way, one of the best covers I've ever heard... I didn't even know this was a Bee Gees song for a long time, their version is alright but they have a bunch of better songs
I liked both. For me Al Green for the soul he put in it. I love both artists. Bee Gees for their Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack and Al Green for his hits especially Let's Stay Together. 😁😁😁😁👍👍👍👍💕💕💕💕
Al to the Green hunny. I have to say I felt it even the music of Al Green seems like the sounds of the instruments sang to ur soul. When Al sings " HOW CAN U MEND A BROKEN HEART HOW CAN Y STOP THE RAIN FROM FALLING DOWN". U can feel his every week word. U can feel his words it's as if he's in a room and a friend came to check on him n he's REALLY asking HOW, HOW HOW !!!!! Then he says " What makes the world go around!!!!". Then when he says LA LA LA LA LA. Omg!!! As an adult who hasn't been heart broken???? It's as if his song was a broken heart for me. That's wat I heard. The BeeGees did their thing but Al Green turn it down.
Me and bro Al Green have the same birthday so he gets extra points from me along with his outstanding musical talent 🥰❤️🖤💚 then there are the Bee Gees( brother Gibbs) I'm a real my fan that's why I knew what Bee Gees stood for 😊 they are my brothers from another mother 😊 they represented well but brother Al being a one man show showed out in a big way and if I'm not mistaking it's his song and his awesome signature is all over this song 🥰❤️🖤💚#I love everybody and I'm very fond of music 🥰❤️🖤💚
Props must go to Barry and Robin Gibb for writing such a beautiful heartfelt song..but have to say Al Green gave this song the "soulful gravitas" those lyrics really needed. My man Al!..
That Book of Eli scene with Al's version. Perfect pairing. 🖤😑 The Bee-Gees' version is from the time in their career before they found their groove & started kicking ass.
The Bee Gees were always hauntingly soulful in the writing, but yes, the execution turned to more R&B instead of pop in the late 1970s, 20 years into their recording career. They went all the way (in my opinion) with "Stayin' Alive."
Al is the winner. 1) Al's version is what you listen to when you broke up with somebody you REALLY love 2) The Bee Gees version is for when you had a disappointing moment in your life..... your date stood you up, you met a person you like but didn't love.
You really feel the emotion in Al Green's voice, the guitar, the strings and ESPECIALLY that organ all serve to draw the listener in. Simply Beautiful is MY FAVORITE and this is a definite close runner up! ❤ Al Green's version of this.
90% of the time, I like the original better than the remake But wow, Al Green's version is so beautiful, it's more like a step in evolution than a remake
I think I selectively forgot he didn't write it. I have to stop myself from crying almost every time I hear him sing this. The emotion, frustration, the pain. And the winner is, the GOAT, Rev Green.
I really love music and love both Al green and the Berger's, how I wish all of the Berger's were still living, I feel so sad for Barry the remaining one left, I liked all of there songs Maurice was my favorite, but I guess Barry is now, but this song I have to be honest Al green put it to the test and won,, I think maybe even the Berger's would agree, don't think anyone out there can do this song better than Al in all honesty, at least I have not heard it. As a matter of fact I have not heard anyone else sing it. But Al hands down, everything I have heard Al doing sounds good.but there are a lot of bee gees music I like. But Al got this one.
Sometimes an artists' genius is taking something done and transforming it to his own. Example, Paul Young taking Hall and Oats' "Everytime you go Away"...blows the original out of the water. This tune, AL Greens' version is far and away the BEST. Side note: The BG's is abbreviated for, "The Brother's Genius!" These white boys from across the pond were BAD!!
I love the Bee Gees but this is an unfair competition!!! I didn't even remember the BGs sang that song. Al brought soooooo !!!!! Much more romance and love and class and, and, and, look I just loooove!!!! Me some Al Green he just stands alone. Especially shirt off and sweaty oh laawd I'll stop 😂😂😂😂 . Al Green all the time 🤦♀️
I grew up listening to both versions and never compared them, I believe Al Green God rest his soul knew how to express the true meaning of the words from living life, the Bee-Gees were paid actors!
I love Al Green's version, because he's singing alone, more heartfelt.
Al Green did it better. You can tell that he's singing from his soul, making you feel all of the emotions of a broken heart. 💔😢 Sang tha song sir!!! 💕
I don't even have to listen to Al Green I love song element singing the wrong song
Al Green. It will move you to tears.
Al Green hands down. It's the Bee Gees song, Al Green's version, it's just a more soulful interpretation.
No comparison. Reverend Al Green. He sold the lyric and sentiment.
Al Green cause you can hear the soul in his voice
Agreed ❤
The Bee Gees sound like a broken heart was a great thing to have, all tra-la-la and junk...nah, fam. Rev AL (Green, that is) wins this heartily. This really wasn’t even close to me.
Real Facts!
I read somewhere that Barry Gibb said in an interview that Al Green did the best version. I usually like the original version but this is hands down Al Green. In fact, it's number one on my gas station playlist.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Al Green all day long
EVERYDAY 💯
AGREE!!! No more to be said!!!!
Sir Al Green 😘. No one else can give that type of emotion through his arrangements. He's a pure genius 😉. Everyone continue to stay safe, and blessed. Much love from Philadelphia.
🍻💙
This is a complete one-sided competition AL GREEN all day everyday.
Tsunami..😂💯😂
Yeah but respect to the original for writing the lyrics
Mac Mac ... Nuff Said ! Being honest it's not fair because Nobody can hang with Al Green !
Hands down
@@daniela6426 Not even close 😅😂 !
Al Green's poignant soulful arrangement does it for me everytime👏🙌 This was during a period of the 70s when the Bee Gees would release a song, and then shortly after an R&B act would release a new cover version.
🙋🏽♀️ as did I😂🤣🙉!
I normally will ride with the original version BUT...Al Green owns this song from the opening note.
Oh come on im white n Al green had babies named after him.
You know that's right 😉
You to much lmao
🤣🤣🤣No you didnt😁😁😁
😂😂😂
bill cur definitely won post of the day!
The Bee Gees' version, with their excellent harmonies, is a very good Pop version, of Al Green's version, which is ladened with pure unadulterated Soul...
AL GREEN
I love the Bee Gee's but not as much as Al Green and his version is way more meaningful
C'MON!!! SANG IT AL!!l 💜💜💜
Ditto
I like the Bee Gee's when they did disco,(Saturday Night Fever) all day, but Al Green is way better on this song. Al has the soul.
Al Green hands down... Although I like the Bee Gees version... Al Green wins this one.

7/7/2020
I like the Bee Gees, but I'm going with Al on this one.
To be honest Al Green doesn’t even have to sing a word to win this...that organ’s first few chords wins it for him. After reading the comments this is almost a laughable comparison. Al’s arrangement...the horns, the organ, the violins and EVEN the background singers are better. Their version sounds like they're telling a friend about the love of their life who left. Al sounds like he's laying it all on the line and is begging his woman for one more chance.
Let's stop. Al Green all day
Bee Gees are talented mo fo's but Al Green knocked this out the park!
Al green that's a no brainer🤯 I like the bee gees but the crown goes to Al he sung that from his soul to the heavy gates 👍"
Love the Bee Gees and their harmony But AL was singing from a very special place that took you there 🤔
Al Green of course!!
I love the Bee Gees, but they sound like a parody compared to Al Green in this song. Barry should have led.
True... Barry should have led that one... 🤔
TheBrabon1 Yeah they did but their version is awful, period..
Al. 🥰
Al Green hands down I love the Bee Gees but this song was made for Al Green he mastered this song.
If u going thru it Al Green embodys this song. N any adult thats been thru a broken heart can hear the Rev. Al Green. Loud n clear
Al green all the way
Al to the Green hunny. I have to say I felt it even the music of Al Green seems like the sounds of the instruments sang to ur soul. Brother Al Green

My man Al!..
That Book of Eli scene with Al's version. Perfect pairing. 🖤😑
The Bee-Gees' version is from the time in their career before they found their groove & started kicking ass.
Exactly! This was pre disco. That Saturday Night Fever soundtrack is still a monster.💯
The Bee Gees were always hauntingly soulful in the writing, but yes, the execution turned to more R&B instead of pop in the late 1970s, 20 years into their recording career. They went all the way (in my opinion) with "Stayin' Alive."
Al Green!!! 💯
I LOVE BOTH RENDITIONS.. SOUL ..in different styles
Al Green. got my vote, the Bee Gees. Okay.🥰💔💔🧵🎤🏌🏿♀️🙎🏿♀️🙍🏾♀️💯🔥
Al green all day
Al is the winner. 1) Al's version is what you listen to when you broke up with somebody you REALLY love 2) The Bee Gees version is for when you had a disappointing moment in your life..... your date stood you up, you met a person you like but didn't love.
I just fast forward it to Al Greens version which happens to be one of my favorite songs. Takes me back to the basement parties😉
💯 Al Green
AL all-day long ,he just put so much soul in this song
Never a fan of bee gees pre Saturday Night Fever and wasn't a fan post Saturday Night Fever.
Al Green!!!!!!! Winner takes all.
Al Green the Bee Gee's did nothing for this song but I still LOVE THEM
I give the Bee Gees props for adding this master piece to their collection. Nobody will ever do it better than the Rev Al Green.
Bee Gees is the original. Al greatly improved it. Besides shouldn't be a competition. Both are masters in their own genre.
Al Green !
LoL, come on 😂😂😂, the Bee Gees are good, but they can't touch that soulful sound All Green putting down.
No matter if you black or white, I love both versions it brings me memories in my heart and soul😎
AL GREEN. Soulful. Sings as if he were actually grieving about his heart being broken.
AL Green puts the spotlight Soul R&B on the song 🎶 from the beginning I’m riding with the Green sound soul brother 👦🏾
Al Green! Beautiful version!
The fact that you have pitted 3 voices against 1 says it all. A case where less is more
Al Green is the Man.. 4 sure ❣️
Both versions are great!🤔
Of course The Reverend Al Green.
You really feel the emotion in Al Green's voice, the guitar, the strings and ESPECIALLY that organ all serve to draw the listener in. Simply Beautiful is MY FAVORITE and this is a definite close runner up! ❤ Al Green's version of this.
How deep is your love by bee gees is my favorite but on this song is understandably one of many Al green songs hands down
The Right Reverend Of All That Is Soulful... Al Green
No competition AL GREEN FREAKED THAT REMAKE HANDS DOWN...BEE GEES TAKE A FEW SEATS LA LA LA LA LA LAAA
Definitely Al Green
Rev Al for the win!! Heartfelt from start to finish!!
90% of the time, I like the original better than the remake
But wow, Al Green's version is so beautiful, it's more like a step in evolution than a remake
Two different styles.. Both are great
Yes.
That part
One is better....
Al Green, hands down the best
Al Green no doubt about it!
I think I selectively forgot he didn't write it. I have to stop myself from crying almost every time I hear him sing this. The emotion, frustration, the pain. And the winner is, the GOAT, Rev Green.
💯
THE GOAT INDEED!!!!
Come on now..... AG forces you to FEEL that broken heart 💔. Love me some 70’s Al Green 💙♥️💙
I went to sleep on The Bee Gees version..Al sung this song from his gut, soulful and funky.
Al Green no doubt. Even Barry Gibb said Al did the best version.
I grew up with Al Green's version and had no idea The Bee Gee's wrote it at that time, Al Green version is the best period.
Al Geen did it best, there isn't a comparison
❤ Al Green this song makes me cry ❤😪
Al!!! He got me through a terrible heartbreak😩
Al Green just KILLS IT!
I love the Bee Gees but this is an unfair competition!!! I didn't even remember the BGs sang that song. Al brought soooooo !!!!! Al Green without a doubt
Al Green version reminds me of home. 🙂✊🏿👏🏿👏🏿
I grew up listening to both versions and never compared them, I believe Al Green God rest his soul knew how to express the true meaning of the words from living life, the Bee-Gees were paid actors!
I liked both versions
It's like comparing apples to oranges. Both are great, just different. Great vid.
Al Green all day!
But Bee Gees have songs I really like too.
I don’t even have to listen..Al Green for the win
AL Green version just get to the soul as soon as he starts, it's also a little sexy.
