Fat Boy as he called himself was one of the all time greats, gone too soon. GQ paid respect to him with two songs. The other being Sitting in the Park. 👍🏾

GQ's lead singer had the stamina to carry the tune very well. I usually don't like remakes, especially 20-30 years later but I liked this but I will always take Billy first. Peace ✌ ❤
That’s interesting but I learned to appreciate history and the art of music and their Standard musical interpretations. Jazz musicians might call some old tunes “Standards.” Standards are highly respected and valued as Master peace’s and fine art. They’re continuing the advance profound thought in many musical renditions. Some songs never die (soul music tends to follow in this “Standard” pattern of respect), they just continue to entertain generations through updated and creative, interpretations. That creative art is what I like about this and all other music.
GQ modernized the song but Billy sang with his spirit and his heart. His emotions made you believe he was in love from his heart. I was 15yrs old when this came out. I still have the 45rpm record. House parties were the thing back then. There will never ever be a time again when our culture comes together like it did and provides such memorable times as it did. Music will never be the same.
It could happen again, although in a different form, because everything must change. COVID19 has taught many of us the value of family, love, friendship, and we will not go back to business as usual, but towards a new, less fake, reality. It can happen. Make it so!

GQ also did justice to another Billy Stewart classic “Sitting in The Park.” Isn’t it ironic that the lead singer of GQ, Emmanuel LeBlanc, also had a tragic car accident. Luckily he didn’t die, but remained a paraplegic for life. Both these two great singers met tragedy on the road.

This is the first time hearing of Billy Stewart and this song from the Original artist. He's great, but I vote for GQ. GQ this a great job with the remake. The instrumentals made a great addition, coupled with GQ's lead vocals.
My homeboys from The Bronx did the original justice and paid homage, Billy Stewards classic is just that, 'A Classic'. He died way to soon. I love both!

This music is so great! Sadly, many young 😞Music has such a profound influence on people, especially on the young! I contend that if the youth would tune out of any Vulgarity whatsoever in music for six months and listen to mellow oldies there would be a change in society!
Whoa. I didn't know this was a remake by Billy Stewart. Mr. Stewart was ahead of his time because GQ sounds exactly him (with the music of the time). Like someone said, GQ was paying homage to our elder.
Excuse me my name is DonBrace I sanged this song for Billy Stewart at 7 Delaware Street in Albany New York I was outside playing !!! Tony come here so when RonnieMiller Abb called I just Went to go see what he want I probably was nine or ten years old Billy still was sitting in their LivingRoom I didn't know who he was cuz I never saw him I was surprised it was him because he was a Fat Boy not A fatguy but a FatBoy his own Words!!! AB say Tony sing I do love you and he was sitting on the couch with his aunt sitting right next Joni she said oh yeah Billy this little boy can sing I still Did not know this Billy Stewart I sanged it he like what I did to his song... The lead Singer for GQ says When your Good your Good Well they should have left I do love you alone because they don't come close to Billy Stewart... Nobody can do Billy Stewart better than JoeBrace who went home to be With JESUS THE CHRIST I LIKE GQ'S RENDITION BUT AS MARVIN GAYE WOULD SAY BILLY'S HOMEBOY AIN'T NOTHING LIKE THE REAL THING... BILLY STEWART VERSION IS FAR BETTER... TRUE STORY Called Me into his house

1969. Summer. Spartanburg, SC. And Billie was playing a local club. Oh yes. I had to be there.....and I was. I knew nothing of what is now called Beach Music, but knew I loved JB, Otis, Marvin and Billie! Great band and what a Fabulous Singer!!! One of my all time favorites. I didn’t hear anything of him for a while.... before learning the sad truth. Wonderful memory. Thanks Billie. Thanks for this post. Connection....In ‘68 I saw Ramsey Lewis.....he had a great drummer, unknown guy named Maurice White. The drummer who played on “Summertime” and probably this tune too. I would later see him again with his little group, EWF. What a time. What music! Magic!
Always heard this song as sang by GQ when I was kid. Hadn't ever heard Billy Stewart's original track but now I have 2 versions of this classic to jam to.
professional artist never try to sound just like the original. But they always put their own twist on it. GQ killed it in their own style. But i have to say GQ musianship was off the chain. They kill it. Very soulful, jazzy, funky man GQ tops it
I have memories with both songs ...when I was a young child, in the 70s, they would play Billy Stewart's original version on Sundays, with the "golden oldies" in Chicago, and I think of my mother (RIP) ..but as a Gen-Xer, I find myself singing along, more, with GQ's late 70s/early 80s cover (sounding "cooler" to me - more relatable) ..but I can't say which is "better", cuz BOTH versions make me feel JUST AS good, although Billy Stewart's version hits me DEEPER, making me think of my mother and earlier memories of my family ...I find myself longing, more, for those memories...
Love! What you said & my own experiences ,even from a much smaller rural town, are very similar! ...... My own first experience , hearing both songs (Sitting in the Park) came from G. Q.! ... Didn't have a clue both were Really-Makes!
Hands down ...Billy Stewart 😏👍I heard the GQ version of Billy's song when I was about 15 back in '79', and looking for this song a couple of years ago, I came across Billy's original version, and that was it for me.🙂👍
Can't go wrong with either. They both seemed to do very well in their respective era's. And hearing them back to back, in my opinion it confirms how great both are
I grew up listening to GQ's version. I didn't know that Billy Stewart's version existed until 10 years ago, while I was strolling online. Billy Stewart has a strong emotive voice and very strong delivery. I like Billy Stewart's version a little better.
Usually the original is always best as is with this song. Probably older people will like Billy. Sooooo! Beautiful. Both are great, but Billy is my favorite.
GQ also remade another of Mr. Stewart's hits, Sitting in the Park 😍🌞🙂 You should check that one out, it's a 💎🎵🎶‼️ I love Barbara Mason's version of I Do Love You too 🌟 Pure gold ✨✨✨‼️
"sittin in the park" ua-cam.com/video/g14VdGTDt64/v-deo.html billy's masterpiece i believe from '65- which made him light years ahead of the "old school" movement that really took off in the late 60's early 70's. he was smack dab in the middle of the british invasion and polished motown sounds. unfortunately he died in a car accident when he was around 33 or so. ~ lil bro

Man oh man I love them both, the first one was from my youth you know my Mom and Dad’s parting days and the second is from my young adult year’s you know when you learned what bumping and grinding was all about.
Y’all don’t have the memories that I have Billy Stewart has a brother back in the day that used to travel with him and y’all he would sing with him when Billy would take a break and we didn’t miss a thing just like him you can hear him in the back ground
both versions were really good in the original to I didn't know this was original but I personally like GQ just a little bit better I think they had more harmonies both versions that had good singers and good harmonies but I think GQ is a little more smoother and had more versatility
I'm gonna be honest I have never heard of Billy Stewart because I'm young and I have only heard GQ's version but after hearing this I will have to say that I like both versions

Two classics, both which sound great for their perspective eras.
Respective
It is a tie, both are just great in their own unique way.
My husband proposed to me when Billy Stewart sang, but we. danced to both groups.
So 58 years later it's and always, will be special to me. 4-12-2023🤗🥰💕
They're both wonderful. I really miss the sound of real musicians and singers collaborating to make great records.
GQ's version of this song is still great after all these years.
Facts
YES PERIOD POO!☺
I love them both. Billy was the originator and GQ did an awesome job paying tribute.
How are you doing today my name is Eric
They both did a great rendition.
One's a rendition....GQ...the other... Billy Stewart...ORIGINAL!!!
They both were great and brought back a lot of good memories but I have to give it to Billy Stewart.
Billy Stewart cant be touched on this🖤💯👈
I loved GQ's version! It's more of an upbeat version but it sounds good by either one. Both Black men SANG it!
Exactly, Billy's shit is dope...
Not with a 10 foot pole!
Their both good in their own ways!!!
The original Billy😎💯 Stewart 🎶🎼🎤 then GQ
This music is so great! Sadly, many young 😞Music has such a profound influence on people, especially on the young! I contend that if the youth would tune out of any Vulgarity whatsoever in music for six months and listen to mellow oldies there would be a change in society!
Whoa. I didn't know this was a remake by Billy Stewart. Mr. Stewart was ahead of his time because GQ sounds exactly him (with the music of the time). Like someone said, GQ was paying homage to our elder.
Excuse me my name is

I didn’t know it either
Billy Stewart (Hands down) Lowrider cruising sound. 😎❤
Crusing with your Queen. Gotta be big boy Billy every time. GQ are great but this joint was tailor made for Mr Stewart!
Ya alot of babies were made in the back of Lowriders while this was playing
@@franklopez2702 including GQ 🙋🏿♀️
K Solo Billy Stewart sounds better
K Solo Back on the scene it's the incredible one man team when i get mad i turn Greene😊👍
Billy Stewart's style opened the way for me to appreciate Al Jarreau years later ... GQ makes me think of good memories growing up in the Bronx ... ole skool!!!
I prefer the version from 1965, they put more heart and soul into it. Women probably went crazy over that.
How are you doing today my name is Eric
Billy stewart...no question.
Just love 🎶🎶heart felt 🎶mesmerizing 🎶 paying honor to a legend what a gift🎶and talent for both to sing this song so beautifully with such grace 🎶 thank you🎶🎶🎶
That’s a tough decision. GQ Funked that song up. But you can’t go against the original. Billy Stewart
kirk mitchell stewarT
Get your mind right
It's always harder to beat the Original
Bingo!😉
Sexx Mode
☑️I was always told, that you can not supersede the Teacher are the original sound of music.🥰
Sexx Mode Oh I made it
I agree but it does happen every once in a while. Example: Smokey Robinson’s “Cruisin”...DeAngelo showed up and showed out!
Luther laughs at this comment
Both are good, but I prefer the original version by Billy Stewart.
How are you doing today my name is Eric Moore
professional artist never try to sound just like the original. But they always put their own twist on it. GQ killed it in their own style. But i have to say GQ musianship was off the chain. They kill it. Very soulful, jazzy, funky man GQ tops it
Billy Stewart's was classic, dramatic & epic.
Call me,so fresh Terry West from Flint,Mi
Love! What you said & my own experiences ,even from a much smaller rural town, are very similar! ...... My own first experience , hearing both songs (Sitting in the Park) came from G. Q.! ... Didn't have a clue both were Really-Makes!
I Love you for posting the greats that take you back to better time's ❤
THNKXZ BUNCHES Sincerely
I grew up listening to Billy which is my favorite however when I heard GQ I was proud of my generation.
I love both versions. They did their thing on this song. Wish I could sing like them.
And hearing them back to back, in my opinion it confirms how great both are
I love both versions equally. Both have a different memorable sound that is still enduring.
How are you doing today my name is Eric
Billy, Billy Billy!!!!! Absolutely awesome. So good to hear GQ's rendition, but Billy, Billy, Billy!
Billy Stewart brings that soulful feel to the song hands down.
I love both versions - GQ still kept that old skool flair to the T.
I grew up listening to GQ's version. I didn't know that Billy Stewart's version existed until 10 years ago, while I was strolling online. Billy Stewart has a strong emotive voice and very strong delivery. I like Billy Stewart's version a little better.
I can't play one with out the other! Same with "Sitting In The Park." Billy would be proud! RIP
Yup, you're right
Add Summertime to that list.
Yes! Exactly.
...And don’t forget CROSS MY HEART and KEEP LOVING !! Two more BILLY STEWART CLASSICS !!
Will I can, and both of them have to be Billy!
You can hear the feelings from Billy obviously....its His
Much more emotion as well.
GQ and RIP my friend Sabu I'll never forget the good times we had in the Bronx we miss you so much.
Usually the original is always best as is with this song. Probably older people will like Billy. Sooooo! Beautiful. Both are great, but Billy is my favorite.
How are you doing today my name is Eric Moore
I have to say Billy Stewart! Yess!!❤
GQ's version makes my heart skip a beat, perhaps it is because it reminds me of my youth.
Unrelated note, Billy Stewart "sitting in the park" is literally one of my favorite songs of all time. Bar none. Top 20.
Thank you I gotta check that out
I like them both....but G Q Hands Down!!!
I do love you T
Yess
4-12-2023.
Still brings tears my eyes and I go back to 1964 when my husband proposed to me.
My husband was crazy about the '79 version. It was easy to dance to but I preferred Billy's R I P
I like both. I didn’t know nothing about Mr. Stewart. Thanks for the education!👊🏾🙏🏾
He also sang the song Summertime from 1966.
~ lil bro

Neither did I🥰 Neither did I🥰 Beautiful tribute GQ. You represent him royally. I just learn of this after all these years, and I am in my 50’s🤔
Man oh man I love them both, the first one was from my youth you know my Mom and Dad’s parting days and the second is from my young adult year’s you know when you learned what bumping and grinding was all about.
Both, not going to disrespect how they touch our lives!! Both are great
Well spoken
Y’all don’t have the memories that I have Billy Stewart has a brother back in the day that used to travel with him and y’all he would sing with him when Billy would take a break and we didn’t miss a thing just like him you can hear him in the back ground
How are you doing today my name is Bryan cooker
The older one. My first love used to sing this to me back in the 60s. Brings back memories of teenage sweet heartaches.
Hands down the GREAT Billy Stewart!!!
I love this version!!!!
GQ did great in making this there own, but Billy Stewart had the vocals on lock!!
Agreed!!!
Sure did
Billy laid the foundation, GQ built on it! The original cannot be touched!
Hands down Billy Stewart who I saw as a child growing up in Chicago was a master singer may he RIP!
I love both versions, but i think Billy has a slight edge. 👑 Same as with (Sitting In The Park).
Billy runs away with sittin in the park but i do love you was closer
I heard the original song by Mr. Stewart. He wins in my book.
Sitting in the park was my song.
both versions were really good in the original to I didn't know this was original but I personally like GQ just a little bit better I think they had more harmonies both versions that had good singers and good harmonies but I think GQ is a little more smoother and had more versatility
That Sitting In The Park is the jam.
Thank you, GQ, for keeping this song alive. I didn't know about Billy Stewart. Thanks, Reelback!
I'm gonna be honest I have never heard of Billy Stewart because I'm young and I have only heard GQ's version but after hearing this I will have to say that I like both versions
Billy Stewart was a power house.
You're extremely handsome!! Dark chocolate sir!
