Alcohol increases nitric oxide which can be beneficial for a number of health outcomes. I personally do well on it moderately for this reason. Excellent interview. Thank you.
I guess we all look for excuses to justify our drinking, there are far healthier ways of getting nitric oxide into your body without poisoning our liver & brain but i guess not as much fun lol
@@midlanderwbaboothy7068 yes! After many years of trying to do the “right” or healthy thing I realised that joy is really the only marker that matters over time. And it’s different for everyone!
I am old. I grew up in NYC with all adults who were young during WW2. These people worked hard were grounded in common sense and devotion to their family. They drank and smoked a lot. It usually was not if you smoked...it was what you smoked? Cigaretts, pipe or cigars. No beer was ever served . Wine, cocktails and highballs(Booze, ice and water or club soda, for younger readers:)) My job in my parents house in Queens during a party was to empty ashtrays and make sure we had enough ice. They all lived into their high 70's, 80's and 90's. They were very happy in their lives and deaths. I miss them so much. They were adults. Shit ! I was lucky to know them.

Haven't watched this video yet (saved list) but Zoe deals in facts and most YT viewers deal in emotions so it'll upset most I'm sure.
I think if the research is from epidemiological studies, as I follow dr. Zoe Harcombe about food, you shouldn’t infer anything from these studies, otherwise that the results are inconclusive. There could be other factors at play. Perhaps the people who drink the glasses of wine a day have a higher socio economic status, eat healthier, better living conditions etc…
The reason is because most alcohol/wines come from EU or world. The idea is to lower our imports because of the tax and levy's charged. It would hurt the EU which is leverage for our govt.
It's a very interesting video. I have been drinking water mixed pickled juice and fermented juice from saurkraut to go with my meat heavy meal. I guess now I would occassionally drink a glass of Pinot. Pickle juice tastes pretty good if you don't like wine.
Very informative and I suspect there's a general agenda to coerce people along the 'eat veg' and 'no alcohol' route. I know Glynis Barber is the interviewer but she tends to interrupt too much.
What about drunk driving? Obviously some people do not drink responsibly. Hence lawmakers want to discourage drinking alcohol altogether. Also most people I know in UK now drink moderately at home in lieu of going to the pub and getting blotto every night.
Is the meta-analysis risk == all cause mortality? Maybe People who don't drink, (generally speaking) seek their 'thrills' in other aspects of life, i.e. more outgoing and adventurous, other drugs (sugar) and could affect mortality rates?
Loved it, quit recently when bloods showed my Potassium was high, always said I'd quit if I got proof it was damaging my health, got to the Doctors "there's nothing wrong with your bloodwork" "but my potassium was high" "it goes up in the vial" so if I had it collected on a Saturday and it got to the lab the next week it'd be high?" "Yep". Needless to say I'm back on the turps. EDIT. Should add, 30g per day is the livers limit and I assume that's if you're avoiding Fructose that's been separated from its fibre.
One glass for me too, Glynis! Mother in law is Scottish and 92, she loves her red wine and her whisky. She still pops to do her weekly shop, walks there and back! She just came back from Australia for a month. Red meat was mentioned in your video, another interesting subject. We have cut back but I can't help thinking there is a drive to stop us eating it? X
yes there appears to be. All the evidence would suggest that good quality meat is highly nutritious. In fact I have another video coming-out soon on this. @@pennymartin2341

And why not increasing nitric oxide with diet and sunlight exposure and exercise and avoid damaging the liver with alcohol?
@@billythekid2324 because I have a genetic disability which means I often cant do those things! We aren’t all the same… thank goodness!

I suspect the drug industry would rather we were all on tranquilisers.
Politics industry too...

The healthy user bias.
I am encouraged to hear this from a non-drinker haha (no confirmation bias)
2 units equals a pint. 1 unit equals a small glass of wine if that helps.

Whats moderation for me it was one bottle of wine per day but for my girlfriend it was one glass you see the problem
Well done ✅😊
Common sense, at last!

Alcohol is poison. End of.
Is it anything to do with the growth of Muslims in our country ?
Alcohol keeps your blood glucose levels quite flat, that could have some benefit..
Like England in the North? Oh you mean the lake district or Northumberland national l park. Hmmm

The alcohol probably takes the place of something more toxic. That doesn't make it good for you.
How about tequila is this just for wine?
It applies to all alcohol but wine would appear to be the most beneficial.
Isn't red supposed to be better? Those units are high!
red is definitely the best option. The units are a shock, aren't they?

Just seen you on this morning - new subscriber here ❤
Don’t believe it at all. 36 Baileys units per week can’t be healthy. Tons of sugar …
Where on earth did you get the idea of Baileys from? They are talking about wine and perhaps hard liqour. Not sugar sweetened alcoholic drinks.
Alcohol is alcohol and 36 units will imact your liver no matter what drink @@jaghad
