It is safe to run it with the cracked manifold. The Jandy filter that you have has had known issues with the top manifold cracking. The new one should be the updated version made bu Jandy and is supposed to be more durable.
Thank you for your quick response. We have a Jandy CL340, would this be the one? Early this week we noticed that the psi was at 30, unfortunately our pool guy did not make us aware of this, we immediately cleaned the filters, that's when we noticed that the manifold had several cracks, however, when my husband put everything back together, and we turned it back on, it was still registering 30 psi.....we thought that maybe it had something to do with the cracked manifold. Are we wrong?
We just noticed that the top filter manifold has several cracks, we have ordered a new one and it's on it's way, however, do you happen to know if it's still safe to run the filter with a cracked manifold? Could it cause damage to the filter system itself? Please help! Thank you in advance!
We have a new pool with a new Jandy 580 filter. After servicing the filter I am trying to get it back together. The O-ring does not want to sit in the grove it wants to jump out of it as I am putting the lid back on. I guess it needs to break in a little. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance your videos have been very helpful for us pool newbs.
It probably is still good since the filter is new so try lubing it up really well and having someone carefully hold it in place while you put the lid on- watch the fingers. Usually a good amount of Magic Lube will keep it in place as the weight of the lid presses down.
Thanks for your help. Is there an special silicone to use on the little o-ring? Also, some other guys says you don't need to lube the big tank o-ring because it is a compression band. Your thoughts? I figure it can't hurt to lube it...can it? Thanks again!
I just use the Silicone spray for every o-ring. If you don't lube the tank o-ring it will start to stretch and need to be replaced often. I can tell you that I took apart 70 filters last month and only changed one tank lid O-ring. The silicone spray will extend the life of the tank o-ring for years.
If you can't find this brand RV silicone spray from the Auto Parts store works great. This is a little pricey on amazon. I get it direct from my wholesale supplier.
If the bolt doesn’t come apart, does that mean I have to get a new bolt? Both Jandy filters that I cleaned, the bolts stays attached.
So you spray the filters from the outside?
You take the cartridges out, yes.
