Only just found this gem. I was absolutely knocked out with this single when it first was released. This live acoustic version emphasises what a superb, musician, live singer and writer he is,. You don’t see this often with current pop stars . OMG I’ve turned into my Dad

Get on a piano that was not his, adjust the mike, a touch on the keys to suss where they are. Then bang that out in front of billions without any effort. Unbelievable talent. Thanks Howard!!! I was 17 at the time. Your lyrics were well advanced. Top man!!

A (Highlight) flawless performance from young Howard which should be classed as one of the best performances on that historic day. Everybody raves on about Queen, U2 (Blah blah blah) etc but surely this is much, much better. Here's a guy, alone on stage playing to a packed Wembley Stadium. Most artists would crumble at the thought. But Howard gave the greatest performance of his life. Thanks Howard.

This is probably the one of the most underrated performances of Live Aid. It's absolutely brilliant!! Howard, you sound so great regardless of the conditions that you were playing in that hot day in July with a less than perfect functioning piano. True talent. I love everything about this video--the guts of a gentle young guy taking the stage alone in front of 75,000...Howard's smile--his obvious joy, Howard's beautiful voice, the piano, the tempo, the lyrics, his hair and outfit--everything. This is just perfect. In recent concerts Howard said he was flying during this performance, when the crowd started singing with him. Watching this video makes me fly, too. A live performance, organised at relatively short notice, no backing band, a piano that was apparently a bit temperamental, a complex and challenging song: so much could have gone wrong here, but I just love how Howard trusted himself, his song and the audience to bring it home. Priceless.

Went to see Howard at the London Palladium last Saturday (25/5/19) as part of his Transform tour - he used this great song as the set starter on piano, with just him playing. He told the story about Live Aid and how much it meant to him to hear Wembley singing his song. He then said “How about we all recreate that night now?” - And we did. It was incredible. He had so much energy - bounding about on stage and then taking breaks in between to do acoustic numbers. Highly recommended to see live!

It was late afternoon and he did a 50 minute set which sounded absolutely brilliant. Really enjoyed it. Didn’t know every song but knew quite a few. He can still sing in 2021 although his stage costume was a bit daft. I’m no fan of the guy- well I am now. And I didn’t even pay.

There was a time when there was nothing at all
Nothing at all, just a distant hum
There was a being and he lived on his own
He had no one to talk to, and nothing to do
He drew up the plans, learnt to work with his hands
A million years passed by and his work was done
    And his words were these...
Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see
Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see
Hope you find it, hope you find it
Hope you find me in you
So she had built her elaborate home with it's ups and it's downs, its rains and it suns
She decided that her work was done, time to have fun and she found a game to play
Then as part of the game
She completely forgot where she'd hidden herself
And she spent the rest of her time
    Trying to find the parts
Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see
Hope you find it in everything, everything that you see
Hope you find it, hope you find it
Hope you find me in you
There was a time when there was nothing at all, nothing at all
    Just a distant hum

Yeah, all day long, Queen were fantastic, but just a guy on a piano in front of millions, and just did it and made Wembley sing. Top drawer..

Just saw him last night in concert. Venue held fewer than 200 people! What a contrast - LiveAide audience of millions to our little concert hall. He was amazingly gracious, fun, witty, poignant and sweet. Amazing talent. Sounded as powerful and relevant in 2016 as it did in '83 (when this song was released) and of course in '85.

Great, accurate comment. HJ is a consummate musician, humble and has a big heart. The lyrics attest to this in so many of his songs. The Live Aid performance is perfect and very moving in the way he connects with the audience both at Wembley and watching on television. 'Like To Get To Know You Well's' message of universality and 'Don't Always Look at the Rain's' reference to stopping fights underscores the humanitarian message about the potential for good in the world. Never more apt than in 2020.

I Feckin Love this! I'll remember that day Saturday 13th July 1985 always and Howard doing Hide & Seek self-accompanied acoustic on the piano, was totally excellent performance!

Never get tired of this song! I unfortunately didn't see Howard on the day at Live Aid, but finally happy to own it on DVD. In my opinion, the definitive version of the wonderful Hide and Seek.

This song never really got airplay here in Australia back in the day. Radio was a very strange entity here...I honestly don't understand why this was not given airplay here. Such an awesome song! Beautiful, thought provoking lyrics.

Howard Jones songs are often heavy and dark, coupled with the melody.
    I like it.

Reminded me of Jackson Browne (Running on Empty) although I think JB was around in the sixties/seventies? I loved this, thx. Your reactions and interpretations add a really special layer to these tunes 🎹🎹🎹

It’s 2022 and I still go and listen to this performance by Howard Jones. It’s the mixture of him and the crowd singing along, great stuff.

    That's what's missing in today's organised world.
