This video was one of the most beautiful videos I’ve seen in a long time, with all the awful things going on in the world and everyone being mad all the time. I felt like I had a safe place to be, so thank you for making this.
I’ve been a cabinetmaker for almost 50 years and recently built a grandfather’s clock to match my grandfather’s clock for my daughter. I felt the same watching your hand work. Beautifully done. Thank you.
Beautiful. A work of art. So refreshing to see handtools used in carpentry. Real and authentic, without all the noise and dust. It reminds me of my favourite Person who also was a carpenter. ❤
That is a wonderful use of something that would otherwise be overlooked. The care and craftsmanship make that a very special box. Also, I would like to say thank you for the idea of holding the plough plane in a vise and running the wood over it rather than the other way around. I've had issues with small pieces in the past and I think your idea is brilliant.
I suffer anxiety, and this walkthrough from the beginning, from the tree to the beautiful box, makes me fell so calm and happy. Thanks, new folower. Sorry for my English
I think what you make look easy, but is actually quite difficult to do it right, is your stock preparation. Some that don't woodwork, or those that havent prepped stock by hand, might miss how difficult this step actually is; but I'm always impressed by this stage in your videos. I used to dimension my lumber with a mix of a hand plane, planer and table saw. Having lost access to most of the power tools, dimensioning lumber with only hand tools is definitely a challenge in itself that I have yet to overcome. Your joinery is superb, but I am always equally impressed with your stock prep by hand.
Very nice. Some may say, "It's just a box!". That is true. But can they appreciate the skills needed to make such a simple box? Thank you for a relaxing experience.
Really Dig the video, but love the addition of the coffee make! With the use of the rough lumber cut right from the tree and then the propane burner, it’s like you’re camping! Keep up the good work
Another awesome pencil box Yurii...I like the way you used the plow plane upside down in your vice...I'll have to try that...thanks for sharing that! -Charlie
Brilliant patient skills. Very therapeutic and enlightening. Sound and music choice excellent enhancing patience and skill of using tools. Quality video, looking forward to seeing more. Thank you😊🎉
So glad to see at the end that you've put limited edition Palomino Blackwings in it. #1 best pencils! I keep mine in an ornate wooden box like this that I got in India.
alright, buddy you got my vote! and I subscribed! Cuz you are doing stuff like me--any old way you can, taking everything one step at a time, figuring how it will go. Until it doen't and figure another way. I like how you put both halves of a panel in the vice together, so the angles compliment each other, to make a flat panel. NICE
Loved the cinematography and sound scape almost as much as the mitered dovetails joinery. When I realized how you were gonna hide the grooves I literally said “genius” aloud.

Dude, you have some resawing skills...
Yeah that was insane! I couldn’t have gotten half the number of boards out of that piece.
Made my bandsaw jealous

It’s a good work. Thank you for your time to make box and video!
You inspired me to make a box similar to this one, I am pleased with the way it turned out. Thank you for sharing you ideals and techniques.
the most satisfactory video, Every second of art of woodworking!
never thought that such a small log can be enough for woodworking. I have to test this out soon :)
I don't know if he did, but I would have saved the wood chips, they make great deodorizers or air refreshers for clothes dressers.
Clamping the plow plane to plane on thin boards! Genius!!! :)
Very meditating relaxing music and the sight and sound of hand tool woodworking.
Such a great way to decompress. Love the sound of planing wood. Great job on the editing. Thanks for showing the tip on profiling small pieces.
I enjoy your content. So long for now and thanks for the fish!
Im a simple man, i see woodworking or Star Wars and i hit "Like"
Stunning!! Love the hand tool only work, much better than £1000's in fancy machinery
Outstanding work, thank you for posting!
Have been loving your boxes. Great work my friend. God bless
My new favourite. I'm loving it - you are on a par with Mr.Chikadee.
beautiful storytelling in this video. and man you really put that ryoba to work
This was nice to watch, love the use of the Plane on it's side, utilising a jig to make it a jointer. Great work
Glad you liked it! Thanks😁

Absolutely beautiful. What a pleasure to watch and listen. You are a true artist. Thank you.
Beautiful project! And your barista skills are as high as your woodworking! Thank you for sharing.
Congratulations! Great job
Enjoyed that immensely! Thank you.

Beautifully made
I fell asleep during the coffee scene with the beautiful sounds of rain falling, but I awoke a better woodworker with a fuller beard. Subscribed.
Beautiful job!!
What a talent in craftsmanship! 💪
Hand made that really is hand made! You Sir are a Gentleman.
You have golden hands 👍!
Take care of your artist hands we want more and more videos from you!!
Loved the cinematography and sound scape almost as much as the mitered dovetails joinery. When I realized how you were gonna hide the grooves I literally said “genius” aloud.
Nice job 👍🏻 how long did you let the cherry dry before you began?
I wonder that as well
slow drying wood.
18 months, just to ensure it is dry enough to work well.
Plough plane in the vice is genius for working on such small pieces 5:57
Hermosa sencillez. Gran trabajo.
Great work
Thank you so much🤗
beautiful peice and a great video. Question: How long did you let the wood dry ?
Well, it’s obvious from the video isn’t it? - the time it takes to make a mug of coffee!😉
I came to the comments hoping this question was asked and answered.
I would dare guess: at least 30 coffees later 😀
3 hours in the oven at 120°C
You continue to inspire. I've made three of these based on this video. Beautiful and functional design. Thank you!
