    In the 90s I met Paul at a Bon Jovi concert in L.A., he was alone in the crowd and very generous to people who came up to him. I approached him, and with the loud music being played before the show, I leaned in to talk in his ear to tell him how I felt about him. He was generous, smiled and acknowledge me as much as was possible in the noisy L.A Forum. When years later I learned about ear and hearing issues, I realized then that he didn't hear a word I said, but instead of being a dick about it, he tried to still make the experience positive for me. I will never forget that kind of generosity. Class act.

      Daniel, your story really says a lot. He wrote a book. I found a place on UA-cam that people narrate their own books. I listened to it, and before too long, the way he read it, you start to think you're acquainted with him. The way he emphasized it was far better than reading it yourself, at least the first time. Anyway, your story is what reminded me of what I said. You should try to find it, if I come across it when I'm going through my history, Ill come back and send it to you.

    I remember growing up I met KISS at their concert. I was probably 10 at the time and Paul pulled me in for a picture and said in my ear “you can do anything, kid, anything.” And those words stuck with me and will stick with me forever. Yeah, he probably says that to every kid that goes to meet them, but it meant so much to hear that from my idol growing up. Such an inspiration, and such a class act.

      @@laurentfargues8113 To be fair, Gene is a very talented songwriter and arranger. He's had great solid basslines and a very adept singer. He is no virtuoso unlike Paul who is a freaking great vocalist/frontman, but Gene is a solid worker, plus his business input did help tremendously to put Kiss on the map.
      I can see that Paul is the more artistic part of Kiss, while Gene is the more business-minded. They both compliment very well.
      Btw, Eric Carr was a tremendous drummer (Peter Criss was average tbh no disrespect) and Eric Singer is great too, plus most lead guitarists from the 80s era Kiss that replaced Ace were actually musically superior to him (Ace was no slouch, so that's something).
      The Creatures of the Night album is probably the musical pinnacle of the band, in terms of everything.

      They didn't always suck ...the only things that suck is A) Having 2 guys wearing Ace & Peters make-up & impersonating them on stage & offstage B) Calling this 1/2 tribute band "KISS" with only 2 original members (they should re-name it "KISS-2.0" (read A)again) C) Telling the fans(casuals/newbees) at every 'KISS' Concert ...'Paul' quote: ""How ya doin pee--ple" !!! ..you know ..you are the 'KI-I-I-I-ISS A-A-ARRRMY and you know ...you know we started this band 40 years ago and this band you are about to see pee-ple is in The' Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame' peeeple we wouldn't be hearh without you and you desu've to giv yur selbs a wound ov appla-u-u-u-se ...now Im gonna terwn da micra-phone ova ta Tomme-e-e-y Thayah singin 'Shock Me' ...lets go !!!!!!
      Oh and if you want to see what yur in for if you decide to give your money to Gene & Paul for a sub-par performance with a short set (75mins) with the samn songs played year after year to the point where its like watching a movie you've seen 10X's and when you see it again the following year its so predictable you cant even enjoy yourself cuz just like that movie you know the dialogue ...Ive seen them countless times since The Dynasty Tour 79' and last year in Victoria,B.C. 13' and let me tell you people I was there biggest fan like thousands of other die hards from the 70's who followed them through all there ups & downs etc and when I went last year I felt let down and it was painful to watch let alone listen to Paul try to sing ..Paul sounded like he was gargling razar blades but my 2 girlfriends (who had never seen them before) were so distracted by the spider stage lighting rig, fire & explosions, smoke & video screens,etc that there senses were over loaded and they didn't realize Pauls voice sounded as bad as it was & still is ...I felt like my childhood heroes at this point due to Pauls vocal issues should call it a day ...it seems like they are just milking it now ...trying to market themselves to the casuals & get all the kiddies brought by there parents & grand-parents to become fans as they're young & impressionable like I was when I was 10yrs old ...the only difference then was they were still on fire & could still move on stage and most importantly they could still sing !!
      I just watched a few clips.songs 'KISS' played in Mexico ... 1st I tried to watch 'Lick It Up' ...I forced myself and couldn't get past the 1min35sec mark ..couldn't continue ...sure I like pain like the next guy/girl but that shouldn't be what you feel or experience when you listen & watch someone(Paul) sing ..if you can call it that ..seriously !!
      Its clear as can be that someone has stayed at the party too long !!
      I used to be a proud fan now I feel ripped off while listening to Gene & Paul bashing Ace & Peter every chance they get and after reading Pauls book 'Face The Music' ..I needed a councelling "LoL' seriously Paul ?? I used to think of you as my super heroes ...remember when you guys just played rock & roll and looked kool > I don't need my Rock Heroes who once scared my parents & pushing & selling HelloKitty bags & then seeing you on a morning tv talk show with 4 women talking about cooking & painting and how hard it was when you were a kid being called 'stanley one eared monster' ...or listening to Gene telling depressed people that they should just kill themselves ' WTF !! ??
      You guys sold out and now it appears you just want every last dollar from your fans when your not giving a 100% anymore ,,far from it+ you say you the fans , we are your boss' yadda' yadda' bs !!
      I remember when you guys were grateful that you had the most devoted & loyal fans and now to show your appreciation you charge 'fans' $1000's for your broken concert played guitars (you used to give out FREE) and now after we 'The Fans' made you wealthy as hell (Thanks to Ace & Peter='Reunion') ...we 'the fans' have to pay $1000's to meet you for a 'meet n greet' before the concerts ? $$$ Im done
      ......>gratitude or greed=KISS

      Sharing of music is as old as music itself. I used to play in a cover band. Made my own jam cassettes. What I will never understand is this stealing of a song concept. Stealing is when you pick up something that belongs to someone else, and take it from them. That being said. It is Impossible to steal musical vibrations (SOUND). BUT! you can share it. NOW. What the musicians are bitching about is the $$$$ they feel they are being screwed out of. These daze musician's make most of there $$$$ from doing LIVE CONCERTS. Check out the prices these Daze. My 1st concert was KISS in 1976, right after KISS ALIVE was released. I paid around $20.00 For my good seat, with Bob Segar as the opening act. Now, these daze. The up and coming artist make more money due to file sharing. They don't play their music on mainstream. If it wasn't for the internet no one would come to their shows.

    • @skibby101
      @skibby101 10 років тому +2

      There is a difference between people finding music on the internet and file sharing. Obviously file sharing takes place on the internet. Because of the internet the entire world is exposed to someone's music. He isn't opposed to that. Paul Stanley's concern is that artists are not getting compensated for their work. Rightfully so. Artists don't make more money due to file sharing. Artists MAY gain more exposure due to someone sharing their music which in turn can make the artist profitable in other areas. However, file sharing is peer to peer and there is no compensation or royalties paid to the artist when the transfer is made. There are two sides to every story but if an artist is selling their music and there are copyrights in place, the artist should be compensated. That's how they get paid, that's how they're able to afford to put on a show in the first place. A lot of bands don't even get paid for playing shows anyways.You should understand - you have a production company. How would you get paid from an artist who isn't generating revenue?

    • @nagol5178
      @nagol5178 10 років тому +3

      But actually, artist are getting paid for their work. I am a working musician. Without people getting the music for free, they wouldn't come to the shows, they wouldn't keep up with the band, they'd never even hear of us as a matter of fact. The radio is not like it was in Paul's day. So, actually, file sharing, even illegally, makes most new bands money. This does not count the huge mainstream bands of course. We are talking legitimate art.

    • @skibby101
      @skibby101 10 років тому +1

      You're still saying the same thing. You're just saying that your using your music as, essentially, advertising sot hey come to your show. Without them illegally sharing your music, then they wouldn't come in the first place. I don't know what universe you're living in but the last time I checked, if someone likes your band then they will come to your show. Kudos to you if you're able to float above the water with people not buying your music and you're able to make money doing live shows. However, that should be a decision made by the artists and not the fans. Regardless, bands should be compensated for their efforts if another person enjoys it and it's being sold. Without a doubt, file sharing has it's place but people shouldn't be stealing or sharing the music without the consent of the artist.
      I'd also like some sort of statistic that proves that "illegal file sharing makes most new bands money". It's ludicrous.

    Wow! Lotta KISS hate here. Why bother watching the video or comment on it, if you think Kiss was / is a joke? I love how people express their opinions as if they're FACT. Whether or not a band's music "SUCKS" is subjective. That means, just because YOU see no value in it...doesn't mean everyone feels that way! No doubt, the makeup, costumes, big stage shows were a HUGE factor in their success. Call it a "gimmick" or whatever you want...but it DID make the band unique. I, for one, love Kiss for the whole package....but when I put on a Kiss record, I don't SEE the band....I just enjoy hearing the MUSIC. So, yes...there are many fans that do enjoy the band for the music FIRST. I happen to think that the early Beatles music was complete bubblegum CRAP music... but a lot of people would disagree with me. Kiss, because of their image and marketing, are just an easy target to attack. For some reason, it's always been hip for all the r-n-r snobs to disrespect the band. If you truly don't like Kiss, fine....but don't just jump on the hate bandwagon cause you think it makes you more "musically intellectual".

    i think the reason people are so quick to attain their music through "file sharing" is because we were literally ripped off for generations by the music business. we were paying $20 for CD's back in the 80's because we had to. the astronomical profits made by record labels back in those days should be carrying them through what is now the leaner years lol

      @mihairobert1677 5 років тому

      Paul Stanley and more specifically Gene Simmons treat their music as a product and not as an art , gene simmons actually said this , he basically said in an interview that when one of their songs Is playing anywhere on any platform they want a cut , if u have non original kiss clothes or banners posters etc , they will sue the people making them and make you buy from a source which they get a cut from . their greediness has been their downfall. To them it's not ok to buy an album and listen to it with 5 of your friends ,they want thoese 5 friends to have also bought the album so they have ,,right" to their music. Which is just sickening , music is an art and it comes from the heart (Not modern music heh ) Most famous artists started very poor and money wasn't on their minds , they just wanted to make music.. and they got to be as successful as they are because they never cared how the music was distribuited..for them , it just mattered that as many people get to hear their art as much as possible. The whole interview he makes half baked statements about how negatively affected musicians are from pirating..bullshit , and coming from him is disgusting , I wanna hear a lesser known artist complain..they almost never do
      And Lars Ulrich the same , the other members were not on board with him with the whole Napster debacle , but when they sue and criticize fans for sharing their music (Metallica members being worth hundreds of millions of dollars, money that exists because of the fans that put them on a pedestal and helped the band grow) Then people lose respect and they never want to hear your garbage again , even more so , makes them never buy anything and just pirate everything :)..a fate well deserved by all greedy musicians.
      They don't stand up for young budding musicians , you might have been swayed to think that because..above all else , lars and Stanley+Gene from Kiss , are businessman who want to make as much as possible and leave as little as possible for others..period
      Now you understand why people hate on them:)...again I repeat myself but it must be heard...you start going into music with the thought of making money , you will NEVER make money , just make music and if its from the heart and people see that and ejoy it , money will come knocking on your doorstep :P
      And lastly , the only ones complaining about file sharing and pirating music , are the millionaire musicians , the less known ones are just happy more people listen to their music..hundred milionaires are complaining about not making millions :) awesome..
      And lastly lastly , a huge % of people who pirate music don't live in the U.S. or live in garbage low salary countries , where you can barely afford to live a half decent life.. where an album is a few days to a week of works pay , why would someone give that much for music? and if they don't have the possibility to pay for it , are you really gonna deny people the joy of music cause a millionaire musician can't get richer?

      Music has only been a *truly* profitable industry since the early 1900s.

    Seriously, you guys can't make a simple google search?
    I like some of their songs but I was never a fan of Radiohead, their "pay what you want" album "In Rainbows" made a killing for the band.
    It was only a "disaster" for the "music industry" fuckers that didn't make a cent out of it.
    So even if they only sold 1 million albums for $1 each, that's still nearly 1 million dollars directly in their pockets without several middle man leeching most of the profits.
    And Joe PowerfulJRE should know and mention the example of Luis C.K. that made a shit load of money by selling reasonably priced tickets for tours of his stand-up show via his website, circumventing the big ticket companies.
    And selling his show "Live at the Beacon Theater" DRM free for only $5 directly to the consumer.
    "C.K. said that 220,000 people had bought the show, providing a gross of $1.1 million. With the proceeds, C.K. said that he reimbursed his company $250,000 for production costs, gave $250,000 in bonuses to those who work for him, donated $280,000 to a mix of charities, and joked he would use the remaining $220,000 to buy himself a new penis ("I'm keeping the old one...I'm gonna have an old one and a new one, right there. It's gonna be nice.")."
