I believe you could use that brush axe up there on that northern property of yours! Funny, those crib rocking things...made me think of a story my mom use to tell all the time... I was 3, my little brother was brand new, maybe 3 weeks old...and somehow I climbed into the crib, got him out and was carrying him down the hall, yelling take it back...he no fun to play with...lol... good stuff! She been gone now 2 years...I'd love to hesr her tell one more time!! Thank ya brother
Please make the brush ax one that can be used. The idea of it hanging on a wall wearing an olive drab coat of paint makes my skin crawl. Love the show, I never miss an episode.
Restore as a user is my vote, on the railway in the UK we called them a 'slasher'. Great to see the show, I would have snapped up that screwdriver for 8 dollars! Thanks for such great videos Scoutcrafter 👍👍🇺🇸🇬🇧✌️
I vote to make the brush axe a user. I hope some of the blade remain after all the pitting is removed. Thanks for the video of CAMA, some nice tables. I saw the original Star Wars movie back in 1977 at a drive-in with one of those style of speakers on the car window. Dave.
I am always amazed at the tool selections at your shows. Even the small ones like this. I remember the drive in movies and would love to see the speaker restored. Recently you showed a steel screwdriver and asked if we wanted to see it restored. Definitely yed. I recently picked up it's twin in terrible condition which also has a couple of bends and I will be restoring it. It will be interesting to compare our results.
Thanks for sharing your video of the Connecticut tool meet. There were amazing deals to be had. What a beautiful place. My family and I usually get to the drive in once-twice a season. Only now, everyone backs up on the hill and opens their lift gates! Managment drives around in golf carts to hand out twine for you to tie your lid down so as not to block the folks in the row behind you. At least my wife and I got to experience the speaker hanging on the door and window. I could see the axe either way. Although, it sure has had a rough life and would deserve a good restoration and being admired. 😉👍
Thanks for taking us along John, although it is a torture seeing such a wide selection of tools at such great prices ! I would definitely say User for the brush axe, we have similar tools here in the UK often called West Country or Irish Slashers because they were often used for maintaining vegetation along drainage ditches of which there are many in Somerset and Ireland ! These come in two forms, a more substantial curved axe like blade much like yours and a longer hooked sickle like blade. I happen to have one of each to restore, which are from my Grandparents farm, however they both have woodworm so I need to replace the handles for them to be good users !
Love that brush axe! My step-dads dad lived his whole life in a small town in Wisconsin and he fell ill and we all went there to clean out his house when he went into assisted living. We all got to take a couple things and I got his axe and his brush axe. They're on my list to restore so I'll vote for making it usable.
John great day glad to see you please make the brush cutter a user it was built to chop! I sold the whole bin of screwdrivers for $20 Did you see the Airstream camper jamboree in the parking area? Thanks CAMA for a great show one of the most beautiful venues I setup at! Zagray this Saturday for another great day @Toolrader
John, that International truck is over the top! Thanks for the briefing on the brush axe. Didn't know they existed. I would like to see it restored as a user. Thanks for all the videos, I learn a lot from you.
Usable. My grandfather-in-law had the exact same Collins brush axe with a bent handle and some rust. When he passed I inherited most of his tools. He also had a replacement handle but had never got around to replacing it. I hung the head on the new handle, cleaned and sharpened the head and oiled the handle. It’s now one of my favorite cutting tools and makes me think of him every time I use it. A wall hanger won’t get passed down, used, and possibly loved like a user would.
You showed lots of restraint with all those perfect-handle screwdrivers lying around. I know how much you love to restore them! A guy has to think about his mental stability. Seeing the drive-in speaker brought back lots of memories. My younger brother and I used to hide in the trunk of my older brothers Impala until he got parked to avoid paying a buck each! I'd like to see the brush axe restored for usage. Great show!
Wasn't Crazy Eddie a conman who ended in prison? We had those in the Army and called them brush hooks. In 1976 the Army decided that they were too dangerous and threw them and the adzes out. Mansfield, CT still has a drive in movie. There is one on the AT too(NJ or NY). My van has broken. Hopefully I'll repair it in time for Saturday. Good Luck, Rick
I would restore the brush axe. I don’t see them here in calif. The truck is probably one of the best old internationals around. My neighbor says them old tires are good to go. He has proved it to me. I remember the west Sacramento fire department sold a Ford econoline van from the early 60s that had low mileage. The perfect handle screwdrivers have a place in your mind and heart. I’m surprised you didn’t bring them home. Another interesting show, thank you
Two votes to restore. We have enjoyed the screwdriver challenge and have watched a number of videos, congratulations to all who have entered. Our votes would be for Reggie on the road.
Great tool show. Fun fact, the company DIT-MCO (pronounced Dit-mi-co by users) was started by testing the wiring for drive-in movie speakers. It became a standard for testing wire continuity for complex systems and even aircraft wiring. One time in college I was invited to the Grumman plant in Calverton and they had an EA-6B wiring being tested with this system. There were so many cables hanging off the aircraft it looked like it puked it all out. 🤣
Great Episode Mate!! I had one of those Speakers, I was looking for it a few months ago to hook up to my Juke Box and couldn't find it to save my life!! After I'm Dead one of the guys will find it under a pile of crap and throw it out!!☻
I say make the grub axe usable. I also attended the show. It's only 1/2 hour from my house. I purchased the glass & metal hand crank butter churn. I love the gearing and looks of these things. Sorry I missed you, and thanks for announcing the show last week. 👍🏻
Another great episode, Scout! That fellow depicted on the box for the crib rockers appears to be a doctor (pediatrician?) with a stethoscope around his neck. And a nice assortment of future projects, too. Restore the brush axe for use. I have one, a True Temper that belonged to the US Forest Service, and still use it for clearing brush on my property; a handy tool to have as you well know from your own use. Can't wait for that drive-in movie speaker to be restored - remember them well from back in the 60's and 70's before most of the theaters sadly went the way of the dodo bird. Anyway, lots of cool future projects!
User is my vote…it’s a tool …join the club of former users that are in that handle…☠️…great show …Kent and that north country has such a peaceful serine feel to it…must be the Emerson,Thoreau influence…drive inns and forged up windows…what a special time……🖖
I remember going to the drive in when I was a kid all the time. I’m only 33. The Admiral Twin Theater in Tulsa Oklahoma!! Great memories! It was massive and made of wood. About 15 years ago it burnt down to nothing. An individual who remained nameless donated all the money needed to rebuild it. Now it’s all steel! And it busy all the time! There are two or three smaller ones in ok as well. The movie the Outsiders was filmed at the admiral twin! I would love to have a speaker from there!
I vote User. By the way, your comment about what a time to stop buying tools, reminded me of Lloyd Bridges on Airplane saying "looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue"
Interesting show today John. I vote to make the brush axe a wall hanger. I don’t think anyone would use something like that anymore because they make attachments that can go on a weed wicker that do the same thing and are a lot easier to use. When I was dating my wife in the mid 1960s we were regulars at the Whitestone Drive In on a Saturday night.
I'm looking forward to the screwdriver challenge. That International truck is a beauty, WOW! By removing the pitting and rash on the Collins Brush Axe it will only make it lighter and easier to swing. I would say its a user for sure. That ancient backhoe/shovel at 5:35 is a piece of work! Great show ScoutCrafter, thank you.
My kids use to love the hay rides on the back of the truck at the pumpkin farm here in NC . Can't wait to see the screwdrivers all the guys come up with .
I've been living in Florida for 35 years- was wondering if the Whitestone Drive in is still around(I doubt it)?. Also totally unrelated- I attended Pratt University in Brooklyn- They had a working steam engine powerplant- if it's still functioning I know you'd love it. A real gem in Brooklyn NY.
Mr. ScoutCrafter my dog ate my screwdriver project. May I have extra time to finish the assignment?…. Enough foolishness! Im really looking forward to seeing the entries! Already saw a few on UA-cam. The competition is going to be tough!
That looks like a really great day for a tool meet and I really enjoyed you taking us along. I sensed some trouble when you started in on those perfect handle screwdrivers! I definitely saw some goodies that must have been hard to pass up. A user brush-axe would get my vote--but that might make an interesting wall hanger as well. Thanks for the episode!
I say make the brush axe usable. I bet it would be handy at the upstate property. Great variety of tools at the show. Amazing the stuff that is still around. I noticed a wooden box set of x acto knives and blades. Those are uncommon now.
You should make it a user because I think the wire wrapping of the handle would be a great tutorial. I know you have done that on hammers but I think it would be interesting to see that on a different application.
I would like to see the brush made into a user. I used spanner wrenches to unlock the collets to replace my CNC tools with and then lock it down when I was done. The show looked great with a lot of great sales. Thanks for sharing this.
User restoration. We still have a few drive ins here in Cincinnati Oh. Back in the day, we’d all pile into my buddies station wagon with lawn chairs and a cooler. What great memories. 😁
We used to go to the drive in all the time and sometimes we would take the farm pickup an park it backward and set up lawn chairs in the back. It was fantastic on a hot summer night and sometime we would get a coke in the cup and mix in a little rum, no one was the wiser.
can't wait to see what you do with the speaker I would like to see you fix the bush ax so it is a user I have been looking for one for a while now 😁👍🛠🍁🇨🇦
I think that the brush axe should be a user, at lest until the wire brush evaluation. I recently was doing a straight peen hammer. I didn't find the cracks in the head until i started sanding. Now it hangs on the wall. I think the speaker would be cool if you restored it, but made it bluetooth and then you could use it in the yard or upstate to listen to vintage radio programs
I absolutely Love that Truck.................Maybe some Lightening Holes that follow the curvature of the blade and get progressively smaller towards the tip.
Hi John, I crack up every time you flash that dog picture. Nice Kent video. Lots of cool stuff on the tables. Love the brush axe. Looking forward to seeing the refurb. The speaker from the Drive-in was classic. That has to be a future clean-up project. Lots of fond drive-in movies with girlfriends. What’s with the stupid selfies with the puckered lips. Do they really think they look hot. To funny. Best Regards, John
Fix the brush ax to use. You never know when the zombies will come down the street. Setting all jokes aside I've had mine for over 30 years. They are handy if heavy. They are great for clearing ditches. The drivein speakers were great unless the mosquitoes were bad. They parked the theaters on the cheapest land next to town. There always seemed to be a ravine or swamp that bred mosquitoes. I always laugh at the shows that show kids in convertables at the drivein.
I've been thinking about that drive-in movie speaker. Would you think of restoring it? I think you could do it up so good. I'd like to hear audio through it. Just thinking out loud!
My dream vehicle is a mid 70's Scout II (International). I loved my old 79 CJ7 Jeep( I had to get rid of after college), but my dream Truck is a mid 70s Scout.
Mitch- If a US car manufacturer would re-produce the old Scout, Bronco or Jeep and keep is SIMPLE, affordable and just add a proven drive train they would sell like hot cakes!
Another great video. The brush axe should be overhauled and put back to use. I have never seen one. Your house is going to collapse or subside from the weight of your plier collection. That International truck was unbelievable.
@Scoutcrafter, in the same vein of the crib device, my almost 90 year old mother told me over the weekend that she had a mechanical device mounted to her child’s rocking chair that played a music box as she rocked. Anybody ever run into one of these, probably manufactured circa 1930s?
I wasn't aware that speakers at drive-ins are being replaced by AM radio transmitters. Unless you have an electric car from Audi, BMW, Porsche, Tesla, or Volvo since those are sold without AM radios. The good news is that Congress and FEMA are pushing the FCC and DoT to require AM radios because of the emergency alert systems that use it. Ford, GM, and Stellantis (formerly Chrysler) still have AM in electrics.
Tools are created to use them. I vote to restore the axe to a usable and practical tool.
I believe you could use that brush axe up there on that northern property of yours! Funny, those crib rocking things...made me think of a story my mom use to tell all the time... I was 3, my little brother was brand new, maybe 3 weeks old...and somehow I climbed into the crib, got him out and was carrying him down the hall, yelling take it back...he no fun to play with...lol... good stuff! Please make the brush ax one that can be used. The idea of it hanging on a wall wearing an olive drab coat of paint makes my skin crawl.
Love the show, I never miss an episode.
Make the brush axe usable. Looking forward to three linesman pliers restoration. Thanks for sharing the meet.
I’m voting to bring it back to work… that would make the brush axe happy!!! Great video John!!!! The Old Army Scout…
Restore as a user is my vote, on the railway in the UK we called them a 'slasher'. Great to see the show, I would have snapped up that screwdriver for 8 dollars! Thanks for such great videos Scoutcrafter 👍👍🇺🇸🇬🇧✌️
Phil- I believe the big screwdriver was $18. Still a bargain.
I vote to make the brush axe a user. I hope some of the blade remain after all the pitting is removed.
Thanks for the video of CAMA, some nice tables.
I saw the original Star Wars movie back in 1977 at a drive-in with one of those style of speakers on the car window.
Dave.
Wow! Star Wars at a drive in! How awesome is that?!?
I think the "Rock-a-crib" man was a doctor, and the ring around his neck is a stethoscope. Cheers, Geezer6650
I am always amazed at the tool selections at your shows. Even the small ones like this. I remember the drive in movies and would love to see the speaker restored. Like to see both restored and as a user.
I vote user on the brush ax

Thanks CAMA for a great show one of the most beautiful venues I setup at!
Zagray this Saturday for another great day
@Toolrader
Brian- I didn’t see the airstream. Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday! 😃👍
John, that International truck is over the top! Thanks for the briefing on the brush axe. Didn't know they existed. I would like to see it restored as a user. Thanks for all the videos, I learn a lot from you.
The original tires blew me away! 😃👍
Usable. My grandfather-in-law had the exact same Collins brush axe with a bent handle and some rust. When he passed I inherited most of his tools. Wall hanger! Awesome collection of faucet handles! That drive-in speaker will look great restored.👍

John, you are so fortunate to have tool sales close to home. I never see such good stuff!
What a great Tool Meet there in Kent. Nice to look at all these items. And waht a beatiyful wheather, Thanks for taking me along
Great show. I'd like to see you restore that Brush Axe to a usable condition.
We still have drive-ins here in Florida great way to take a family to the movies
Make the brush cutter a user, also that Black and decker drill press is fantastic, I would love to find one like that.
I would restore the brush axe. I don’t see them here in calif. The truck is probably one of the best old internationals around. My neighbor says them old tires are good to go. He has proved it to me. Joe- Try to hit Zagray farm museum show this Saturday! In Colchester! You will love it! Look for me with a RED backpack! 😃👍
I will attempt attending the show. Thanks for the tip. Hope to meet you.

Bill- Red Backpack! 😃👍
Yes I would like to see you restore the speaker. That looked like a pretty nice tool meet. Thank You for bringing us along.
I would make the Collins into a user. I believe Collins is a good axe manufacturer. The drive in speaker brought back memories. Thanks
I vote restore to use.

Brush Axe? They always remind me of a Midieval Peasant at Arms battle axe. Totally need that at your upstate property, too.
Make it usable again. 👍🏻
Frank- I wonder how many times we were at the same place at the same time when you were local. 😃👍
The pair of pliers you couldn’t read are Barcalo buffalo
Usable
That drive-in speaker will make an outstanding restoration project. Enjoy.
I'm looking forward to the screwdriver challenge. That International truck is a beauty, WOW!

We still have a few drive ins here in Cincinnati Oh.
Back in the day, we’d all pile into my buddies station wagon with lawn chairs and a cooler. What great memories. 😁
I inherited a brush axe from my grandfather ,i tried it in my backyard and was promptly stung by ground wasp.
😂😂😂
We used to go to the drive in all the time and sometimes we would take the farm pickup an park it backward and set up lawn chairs in the back. It was fantastic on a hot summer night and sometime we would get a coke in the cup and mix in a little rum, no one was the wiser.
Hi John , great purchase!! 👍
Great episode John., Wow that truck blew me away.. and original🤩
can't wait to see what you do with the speaker

I vote to restore. Great show John!
"Rock-a-Crib" .... Doctor recommended (implied).
I absolutely Love that Truck.................Maybe some Lightening Holes that follow the curvature of the blade and get progressively smaller towards the tip.
Great Job Johnny NICE BUYS 💯Def restore it to a user 💪🏼

User! That show looks so great, it must be so hard not to over-buy. I would be in trouble, with or without Patrick!
Great show today! My vote goes in the user column! I have the same Collins brush axe and would love to see how you restore it.
Pretty sure I’ll be seeing you in Jacktown. That drive in speaker is great. I have been wanting one to restore and covert into a Bluetooth speaker.
I hope so Paul! You’ll love it!
I vote to restore to usable condition. There is a drive in in Beaufort sc near a a place you may have visited called Parris island
User. Thanks for another great video!!
A user tool is should be done to it and that international truck is sweet
My vote is to restore it to a user tool. My wife and I went to the drive-in all time, back in the 70's
Great show John
Make that brush axe usable. Love to see it fixed up.
I vote user
Hi Scout.....my vote for the brush axe is a "user". Thanks for sharing and as always, have a happy day!😊
Nice video thank you um abraço de Portugal
Great video ScoutCrafter. Lots of good stuff. I’m happy to see the “Yeah right” dog again. Those pliers are great too.👍🏻👍🏻
I would like to see a full restoration. I think you can make it look great.
Definitely a user. Want to see that tool in action.
Restore brush cutter for use...9 out of 10 doctors recommended crib springs and smoke Chesterfields😅
I'd like to see the brush axe a user again.
Another great video. The brush axe should be overhauled and put back to use. I have never seen one. Your house is going to collapse or subside from the weight of your plier collection. That International truck was unbelievable.
Make the axe usable!
Good to see the dog again.
Another great show, John.
Have a Jesus filled day everyone Greg in Michigan
Make the brush ax usable.
Talk about memories. Drive-in movie theatre speaker. Similar were the drive-in A&W restaurants. Hanging the tray off the window.
Usable gets my vote.
Make the brush axe usable!
I vote usable :-)
user on the brush axe
Great scores!
Make it a.user! Take it up state!
