It’s been months since I last played my PSVR2 and since my relatives were coming for Xmas, I decided to get me a couple of new VR games on sale to enjoy with them and noticed the headset had an update (the controllers also had an update) and I felt like the image clarity was a bit better than I remember - but I thought it was just the new games I got… now I’m gonna revisit my older games to compare, maybe it was just me being absent for so long, maybe the updates really did something and I’m curious to try them all ASAP

@@Kireth hey Kireth, I tested out my older games and while some are definitely looking better, some are still exactly the same as I remembered. So maybe a mix of firmware updates and developers taking that into account and updating their games. I had to update all games, it’s been that long lol…
Some haven’t had any improvements like GT7 or Puzzling Places (this is still blurry and outta focus just like I remember), but some have definitely been improved like Kayak and Ragnarock. Also the system UI in general (flat screen menus and stuff) do look better than I remember.

With this headset, it has a very small IPD range of being on correctly and having good image quality. In the VR quick settings, I believe you select "Adjust Visibility" and it shows you if you have it on accurately and if the IPD dial has moved on you. I do this at least once a day and I also do the Eye tracking test daily. If you don't, you could be drifting out of that small range and not realize that you are losing image quality until you make the adjustment. The reason I do the enable eye tracking test daily is eye exercises like that are good for your vision in general.

It’s a very good headset but some flaws like the small sweetspot won’t go away.

@MisterReen I was thinking about this the other day. I think even if you have small eye issues the headset magnifies it. If you purchase the lenses not only is there a night and day difference. But the "sweet spot" become much larger with the lenses. I have not had any issue from thr moment I bought them.

I was so disappointed at first. It was the most uncomfortable HMD I ever tried, and blurry. After getting VR optician lenses so I didn’t need to fit glasses, and getting the Globular Cluster comfort mod, it’s turned into the absolute best. Btw don’t sleep on Puzzling Places if you want something relaxing. There’s a free demo and it’s just great.

Turning the headset brightness down to around 60% really helps with the screen door effect that you are seeing. It made Horizon Call of the Mountain, GT7 and No Mans Sky look alot better for me.

I am a GT7 only gamer and have been using VR since release, i cannot be as fast without it now. I agree that the resolution is far less but the immersion is well worth it. You mentioned feedeback given to PD. Any hope that we finally get a HUD? Finally reached A rating using VR only. Happy Holidays and keep up the commitment to VR. 🇨🇦🖖🎄

Don’t really see the point of coming up with this video again. There hasn’t been a substantial update for the VR2 since months.
They improved the overall visuals a couple of weeks after release, with mainly comes due to optimized reprojection. Otherwise there was nothing.
It’s still a fantastic VR headset with some flaws.
100% there has been improvement since the first couple of weeks, not sure if you even have a PSVr2
@@Kireth PSVR2 vet here who has had it since launch and I have not had any blurry or grainy issues dating back to June. Before July I mainly played Horizon Call of the Mountain, Demeo, and little bit of Resident Evil Village. Didn't start playing GT7 until late July, but I play every day now since August. I played a lot of Quest 2 over the past 3 years as well but GT7 is hands down the best VR game I have ever played. Might have missed 1 or 2 days of playing it since I started. It has been a phenomenal experience for me the entire time and I am not noticing any visual upgrade there. Of course it is still a higher quality image on my 144hz monitor, but I mostly just use that when tinkering in the garage or auto shop, but I drive almost exclusively in VR and have had no complaints.

@Kireth it has been months since we have a firmware update in psvr2. And none of them change anything with the graphics. For how long did you not use yours? It looks like you are having some placebo effect.

The reason you can't use the VR controllers with GT7 is because they don't have enough inputs. You wouldn't be able to control the MFD or use the touch pad features. These can all be bound on wheels but not the VR2 controls because there's not enough inputs.
Using the controller is better anyway, as your can turn it like a steering wheel, which with the VR controllers its not possible
I'm not sure about any firmware updates for PSVR2 besides a few months ago but they were minor. Many games have been patched though. No Man's Sky is INSANE now. No Man's Sky is a must but. RE4, Arizona Sunshine 2, Synapse, Barbaria ❤️
Playstation is working on reprojection firmware update but not live yet. Game devs are finally figuring out Foveated Rendering. Seems like it takes 6 months to implement
I’m playing red matter 2 as one of my first few played games and omg. I was worried about Mura because of playing horizon but on red matter 2 I can easily compare it to pc. It’s simply amazing!
Been playing the whole time. It was never really blurry. This is most likely due to user not knowing how to put it on, centering eyeballs on each lens. APD isn’t the only thing. Have to ensure the headset itself is in the correct spot.
Some games are slightly blurry due to using lower resolution like gt7,hopefully sony can improve it
If reprojection is the issue, then it’s a issue of „not enough power“ and then the ps5 pro should fix this issue, which means if it does it’s a instant buy.
Reprojection is not used because of not there's not enough power, even in the base PS5, reprojection is used because it makes the port to PSVR2 process quicker and easier. Its easy to get a game up and running at 1440p-4k at 60fps on PS5 without having to put a ton of money, time and energy into optomization. This is not to say that no work is being put into these games, just that it makes it so that games aren't taking the extra 6-8 weeks of setting tweaks to get to 90fps or 120fps. Some games come out at 90fps or 120fps with no reprojection, others have had updates that remove the reprojection and use the native rendering rate....and some game are reprojected and you wouldn't even know it. The reprojection issue, if you consider it an issue, really comes down to VR players wanting triple A treatment but they really aren't willing to pay triple A prices for games nor are they willing to wait triple A development time for games to release.

I'm very surprised every time I hear someone say that the PSVR2 isn't, or wasn't sharp. I am one of the first buyers, and I have always had a well-defined image. As long as you place the PSVR2 correctly. And that's very important.
Getting a on/off in-game toggle for HUD would have been a Christmas miracle. HUD free is the way to go for VR, but sometimes you just need some info :-(
Mura still a pretty big issue for me
Thanks for being one of the only people that call out the horrible blurriness in GT7. When you play games like RM2 you really see how bad GT7 is. Galaxy kart is a good comparison for GT7 since its the only racing game and since its 90hz update it is very crisp. I'd love 90HZ without reprojection for GT7 as it's so much fun. If someone from Polyphony Digital is reading this, please fix this and while your at it if we could get some solutions to the head positioning issues.

I never had a problem with my PSVR2, tracking, etc. I did notice the grainy nature, but after a while I would look bast it, then I started on a Vive 6 years ago. I've been working too much for the last few months to have time to play, now that I have a couple of weeks off, I'll check it out again.
All I ask of GT7 is for them to add an option to either lock view to car or lock view to horizon. Ruins some tracks for me with banking
The banking is so immersion breaking
U have to adjust ur lens to stop the blur. And setup sight u can fix it theres a sweet spot for everyone that makes it clear u have to find yours
No mans Sky definitely a game for PSVR2. Bulletstorm VR is pre order only just now. Crossfire Sierra Squad would like to see on PSVR2. Think you would enjoy Rez infinite as well it had a PSVR2 update it’s a classic.

I'm glad you think it has improved, because PS VR1 games with reprojection made me so sick. I was waiting for a PS5 PRO before reconsidering, as the increase in power could mean developers get rid of it, but very soon the Unreal Engine VR mod comes out which allows any flat Unreal 4 and up PC game to be converted into VR, with stereoscopic 3D etc. The impressions so far are simply incredible. Honestly looks like a major game changer.
I'm also counting on a PSVR2 improvement when the PS5 Pro arrives. Distant objects on GT7 have much lower resolution, and that really makes the overall image blurrier. The ghosting due to reprojection could be solved with a native 120 FPS rendering. As for now, I reduce the headset brightness to a minimum. Not ideal, but works for me!
I can’t, and refuse to play any racing games that aren’t in VR. If no other racing games other than GT7 get PSVR2 support, I suppose I will just play GT7 indefinitely. No VR support, no buy.

Resident evil 4 remake has the best graphics on PSVR2 and it’s not event close. It’s my fav vr game it topped half life alyx for me

I really wish sony didnt get obsessed with hitting 120fps with motion reprojection,90fps would have been better and they could have upped the resolution of gt7 and horizon,at 90fps motion reprojection is slightly better.either that or give us an option to play 72fps with no reprojection
No update other than game specific updates that implemented foveated rendering. I only play in Vr these days and I play pretty much everyday. Im also on multiple Psvr2 Discords (without parole being the main one) and no mention of a psvr2 specific update and it wouldnt get by most members on here. Seems like click bait

I’m going to start resident evil 4 vr, after dinner and can’t wait. I held off buying and playing . The blob baby monster thing in resident evil village, was most scared I’ve ever been in a game. Especially as I didn’t know it was coming.

Oh runner is a arcade shooter. You on a motorbike and have guns. 1 psvr2 controller controls bike and 1 guns. It looks really funky and fun BUT many say it’s incredible hard to control bike and shoot but I’m going to give it a go because

it only had some blur issues at first couple weeks, most blur related issues are due to proper configuration. The problem that they need to improve is the reprojection effect. In GT7 what you describe is because you focus differently than in most VR games, its mostly your eyes fault than the headset. In real life you focus for close things and far ones, since now its a flat screen you dont need to focus, but your brain still tries to do it, hence you see blurred.
So wrong you still focus like real life as the headset gives you a stereoscopic image. That's why you still need to wear glasses for near or far vision when using the headset.
@@minners71 Yes, again because you are used to focus like a normal, but looking at a screen wont fix any defect in your eyes. Thats why you need to adjust your headset to a focal point, with more or less tolerances depending on the lens.
I heard it's a hardware lottery. Making sure the lenses are absolutely clean is pretty key as well

I only play RE4 and GT7 and now with this secret update in GT7 I see a major improvement in clarity, I really like driving a porch and now I see clearly when I activate the DRS on the dashboard of the car, before it looked very blurry it's amazing and in RE4 I can now see clearly through the sniper's crosshairs

Had psvr2 from day 1 and it was never blurry. Nothing has changed not sure what you are seeing. Why would you want to use the controllers in Gt7 and something wrong with your eyes when playing Gt7 or you're not wearing the headset right.
Yes, reading anything on re 4 and 8 was a sickening experience. I really had to strain my eyes read any of the files.

@Kireth Dude, it's so different from the base game. I'm just doing stupid stuff like juggling my weapons. The combat in the game is still fast-paced, and it's even more brutal but not in a bad way.
@@Bionic8JI’m jumping in after dinner. I just hope the motion sickness don’t make me bring up my food. Deff don’t want to vomit onto my steering wheel while I try and force myself to play gt7. To be totally honest, I think it’s extremely tedious and boring for single player content but also, I literally can’t turn properly and slide off track. I’m thinking my wheel isn’t set up properly because I start a race and slide off again and again. I’m used to hard racing games dirt rally etc and I really don’t know what’s going on.
@grahamkelly8662 I think the key to it is anticipating the uncanny movements. I used to play the PSVR as it was my first vr headset and that took me a while, but eventually you will get better at expecting the uncanny movements and build up tolerance to that queezy feeling.

I have never had any problems with psvr2. Some games are better then others. Other then a high powered pcvr. Psvr2 is the best vr that you can buy.
No, it wasn’t “really grainy really blurry”. I pre ordered from Sony and it arrived launch day with no tracking issues grain or blur.

If they enabled bonnet cam view, without the interior and all the mirrors taxing the hardware i reckon they could get it going at 90fps.
@@davidcupra4913 Its great. Try the AMG VGT. Its the only car with no modelled interior, so in VR it sticks you on the roof. Looks great 👍
most problems wouldnt exist if they had used pancake lenses , then theres the controllers huge rings the size of saturn and batteries that last barely 2 hours the grip button is also a fail, and finally comfort that has went severly backwards from psvr 1 . needs a mid cycle update and fast

Seriously. It takes awhile when just strarting vr to find the sweet spot. I dont see any difference in the quest 2 and psvr2 sweet spots. I never had any blurryness in my psvr2.

Bought the PSVR2 only for GT7. Stopped using it because it was too grainy and blurry (whereas in "flat" content, such as video streaming, the image has always been great, giving me the sense of a giant TV screen). If it's indeed better now, It's funny that they manage to have "clean" VR everywhere else BUT in GT7.
I would imagine that's down to the game and not the headset. Just like No Man Sky was blurry once the developers changed it now its one of the best VR games out. If the PSVR2 runs other games really good and GT7 no so good kind of points towards the game imo.

Have they fixed the really annoying issue that could also plague PSVR1, where things that should be level, like the main menu screen for GT7 are slightly tipped to one side? It was an issue for my PSVR1 and it is the same for the PSVR2 and nothing helps to fix it. Quite why they don't inckude a manual adjustment I'll never know.
Yes with PSVR2 you can manually reset it at any time by pressing and holding the options button on the controller and it adjusts based on 2 factors. Where your head is positiioned and your eyes are gazing and where you are holding the controller in front of you when you press and hold that button. Also there is setting that it will map your TV, and if you have that on while you are playing, it can use that frame as a reference to prevent the drift. I don't play facing my TV so I just manually reset it from time to time when it drifts.

Not sure what you’re talking about mate. Day one owner, the headset has been crystal clear and smooth tracking since I took it out the box. There have been updates since launch but visual quality has always been top notch for me. A lot of people think it’s “blurry” and has bad tracking, in reality, you’re not seating the hmd properly on your face with the correct lense distance/calibration if any game is “blurry”. The tracking works better in brighter areas as it’s based on light bounce which you can see by analyzing the clarity of the pass through screen and adjust accordingly. Putting up colorful lights and all that is pointless. Sadly, VR is still in its early stages so it requires a lot of competence with tech to have the best experience. One day though, you will be able to put a headset on and just go, the tech isn’t quite there yet. I mean, there’s quest if you want mobile graphics. PSVR2 has some of the best visual fidelity and features outside of PCVR which is more of a headache to set up anyway imo.

I found turning on the 120hz setting made gt7 a lot better
I play gt7 in vr, never seen that mirror on the dash is that specific for the gr race car?
Its car specific. The genesis happens to have a camara in the back, and display in front of you, in stead of a physical mirror at the front window.

I don't know if I can handle the anxiety. lol. Started Village and got as far as the part where you get overrun by so many enemies and then you see this big ass villain and it is almost certain you are dead. But somehow they decided not to kill you. That was months ago and have been having so much fun in GT7 I haven't returned.

PSVR2 for GT7 is terrible, it is still a blurry mess. For causal games, sure it’s fine but for demanding games like GT7, it struggles and the graphics are toned down to a point barely anything in your direct line of sight is clear except for maybe the steering wheel and dash.
For sim racing, we are almost at a point where I can ditch my triple screen a with a Pimax Crystal Light or a used Pimax Crystal.
I have had a quest 3, HITC Vive Elite XR and never experienced graphical fidelity like that in a VR headset until the Pimax Crystal.
but you’ll need the best GPU money can buy to run it in its full glory. My 4090 can’t run it smoothly at Ultra. VR is very demanding.
I am hoping the next gen PC GPU can run these high-end PCVR headsets at 4K per eye and above at ultra high quality visuals at its native resolution without any compression.

ACC, Automobilista 2 and even AC looks glorious and MS Flight Simulator is jaw dropping as well as Half-Life Alyx. in terms of visuals, i comparing them to what I see on my 57 inch 7680x2160 Mini-LED and 42 inch 3840x2160z oled display which i use for non-racing sims. i hate crap visuals in VR given how expensive they are

You always seem to have issues with your headset that I have never experienced. The only way I play gt7 is in VR and never had any of the issues you have highlighted. You sure you got that headset on properly? Lol. Also I don't recall any update at all and I'm using the psvr almost everyday lol
