This is Grimdark : The TRUE life of a space marine
Вставка
- Опубліковано 22 тра 2022
- Here is my take on what its like to serve in the Emperors legions. Space marines are viewed as these invincible demi gods but the reality is that their enemies are vast and powerful. Life can get real ugly real fast for these troopers. Warhammer 40000 has an amazing atmosphere but things can get bleak

the tank with the hands and traitors written in blood was really chilling. space marines are not unsoiled heroes. they will step where they feel they need, and sometimes its on the heads of who they try to protect.
So, they offended some planetary defence force, thats why "traitors"?
@@vlafed4690 I dunno, I thought it was the lamenters but insignia was for the imperial fists.
The lamenters were a cursed chapter that's really sad to read about.
But most space marines (not counting the salamanders and lamenters) don't care about human life and see themselves as better than them.
@@MHMG42 i thought they cared for us(
@@vlafed4690 Rarely. To the Astartes you're just in the way of their objective. And if that involves burning a whole planet then so be it.
Which is why I find it funny when Imperium fanboys try to make out the Aatartes as these nobledark saints when they couldn't give less of a shit about humanity and were hardwired to hate anything even slightly deviating from the human genome.
@@altechelghanforever9906 Seems kinda counter-productive when their purpose was to defend humanity, no?
I think the "traitors" one is the best, because it tells such a sad story.
Humans screaming and trying to get into the tank for safety as some unknown threat slaughters them, and the driver, bound in service to the Emperor, drives over them, dead or living, in order to achieve the mission.
At least that's what I imagine when I see it.
Did you see the woman holding her baby? Covered in blood screaming for help. Ignored by those she thought were her protectors.
It says everywhere: "Believe in the Emperor. In the darkest hour he sends his angels.
The Light of Hope"
...is in truth the light at the end of the tunnel.
There is no hope! The Emperor protects no one... He's just a rotting corpse... Screw the Empire!
(my english isn't good ^^'' sorry)
I need a tutorial for that xD When I use Blood for the Bloodgod it always looks really bad...
@@WarlockAzbad which part?
@@nightcrestevergreen7703 the tank xD
@@WarlockAzbad okay
People forget that Astartes are child soldiers with extra steps. Even Dante, the most successful space marine to have ever lived, when close to death, just wanted to show his Dad (birth father) that he made it as an angel.
Space marines aren’t symbols of humanity’s triumph, they show we will even sacrifice our children to live one more day.
Your models capture their tragedy perfectly, thank you for sharing.
In your opinion. Training kids from an early age to be extremely stoic and strong is a far more noble goal than endless hugging and a sickly and weak obsession with sloppy love. You're just projecting your own feeble bitterness onto an unimaginably dire war setting. To actually suggest that extinction is morally preferable to training kids into strong warriors shows what a twisted one you are. Why don't you just have a good cry, a tea and big doughnut....
Blasphemy! Burn the Heretic! Purge the Unclean!
What other choice does humanity have?
@@TitusCastiglione1503 I agree, there is no choice however it still is terrible. The orks are horrifying, the necrons and nids are basically indestructible. The gods behind the skin of the universe are mad and revel in pain. The eldar remain the worst in all their incarnations. Humanity has to sacrifice, but its still a tragedy. Another good piece is "The Glorious Tomb". Black templar dreadnaught dying and regresses through his life.
@@cmdrsausage9669 Yeah... I know right, the universe is terrifying, the Necrons, the Orks, they're all out there, spreading terrors, and the humanity isn't the brightest either.
At this point, wouldn't it be more wise to... y'know, unite, working together... *for the greater good.* 😏😏😏
I’ve seen a lot of disturbing things in the 40K verse, but never anything quite as unsettling as these poor souls. Absolutely amazing work
Space Marines have this to look forward to as reward for their lifetime of service.
Have you ever heard of the *Daemonculaba?*
@@jotarokujo156 you are quite right, that is terrible beyond measure but I don’t believe it has been visually painted to do the words and horror justice
@Formortiis Warhawk agreed, my favorite chapter’s motto says it well, “for the we cherish, we die in glory”
@DSVoid very well put, 40K on the whole is something akin to the divine comedy
The “too slow” one 0:37 is my favourite, it depicts how brutal weapons are that they can tear through ceramite armour and it shows how goddamn resilient the space marines are, dude has his arm hanging off, keeps his stance, doesn’t huddle over in pain or anything and just tries to reach for his bolt pistol, sadly it wasn’t fast enough. My god this is such good work
I think its more as he didnt even register pain yet because it was so quick, he was "too slow" to take the 1st shot
@@Draggon211 I mean they canonically can withstand horrendous pain so I feel both ways of looking at it are valid
The fact that some of these make me actually sick, is just telling to your talent. You are an amazing artist
Good to know I'm not the only one
It's definitely all of the stringy bits. It's amazing how gruesome the paint jobs look!
Thats cap
I love how these wounds allow you to speculate on the in lore weapons that killed them. 1:05 is a melta 1:14 is a boltshell that penetrated his armor. 1:54 is a lascannon. and 1:42 likely had a bad run in with kharn the betrayer and gorechild.
What happened to the at 0:22 ?
Are bolt shells that powerful?
@@marinousmonk8605 boltshells are like 40mm grenades fired at bullet velocity. if one hits you, ur definitely gonna splatter.
@@tacticalgamer7777 looks like some chaos warp mutation
@@tacticalgamer7777 Looks like a gaunt, perhaps some new tyranid bioweapon. Parasites that grow quickly and burst out of their hosts? Wouldn't be impossible for the critters hivemind to make.
this is the most grimdark of grimdark to ever grimdark
*giggles in grimdark*
Defo 'Death of Hope' levels of Grimdark going on here.
Definitely one of the grimdarks ever made
This is honestly just mesmerizing and very memorable work. All your gore effects have this satisfying brutality to them, and makes you realize just how lethal and unforgiving the universe of 40k is, if these modified superhumans can be torn apart like paper.
1:01 That name is haunting. I imagine it was fratricide (friendly fire) by an ally with a melta. Or maybe his Sergeant was trying to warn the space marine that his plasma weapon was about to overheat. The way the arms are suspended on the body it sort of looks like he could have been in the process of dropping the over-heated plasma rifle when it went off.
The one with the snapped arm, reaching for his gun while gettin shot is so choice. They’re all incredible obviously but the story of that one grabbed me big time.
"Life can get real ugly real fast for these troopers."
For Imperial Guard, life is mostly ugly though... and it's faster than real fast for them.
In the year 40k demi-gods die, for the guard it's just expected.
Even the music makes you feel somekind of way.
The OSL on that plasma is truly one of the most realistic glows I've ever seen. Absolutely stunning job
Again, you’re one of the greats and your creativity knows no bounds.
This is what I wanna see when I see “dark” things in 40K. While marines are tough, knowing there are things that can do this to them really brings out just how terrifying the grim dark future really is.
Seeing the dreadnought with the bloodied chainsword at the end make me think that he is the only one that have survived an attack from something.
Need a whole diorama of these!
Imagine a Horus heresy Istvan 3 diorama, angron ripping apart a loyalist, death guard being betrayed by their own Primarch. The gore would really highlight how this was an atro
This is kickass man, keep up the great work, an instructional on these would be amazing!
I think people have forgotten how brutal Warhammer is
I've never liked gore for gore sake but these conversions are so well done and give us a glimpse into the grimdark we all know and love. Massive love especially for those melta-victims. Phenomenal work and detail in that incomprehensibly hot effect.
Really cool! I find the "rip and tear" amazing, and the tank chilling!
yeah tank is probably the most "grimdark" or just plain dark to be honest
Thank you for capturing the visceral horror. Great editing and music choices.
Unbelievable talent as always
Thank you so much 😀
I'm left wondering what form of overwhelming firepower has managed to tear apart and melt Space Marine power armor like that
Basically any melta weapon of sufficiant size. I think even a normal melta gun could do this when fired point blank.
In the year 40k even demi-gods die.
Hole is big enough for a titan shot or a mech at least twice a Marines size.
either point blank melta or lascanon ^^
Eldar fusion guns for sure, maybe even some Tau rail or plasma weapons
What is your duty?
To serve the Emperor’s will.
What is the Emperor’s will?
That we fight and die.
What is death?
Our duty?
What is your duty?
---
Also there was something I recall Loken saying in Horus Rising was how Astartes were immortal but destined to die. To be a space marine meant death.
Only in death does duty end.
Words spoken by a guardsman, words lived by Space Marines
@@jasonalcatraz5817 more like even in death space marines will still serve the Emperor.
Cursed comment is cursed.
That autism is kicking your arse bro.
Really love what you've done here. This is exactly what I think when I hear "Grimdark", really reminds me of the very early artwork of the LT.2's fighting Orks and of one LT.2 hanging out in a gunner station using a orkz head as a ashtray trophy.

These are done so well that it makes me want to get into painting myself
Wow, did you watch Braindead again and told yourself: "Hey, Peter Jackson was an amateur, I can do it way more gory", or what?
Needless to say, it's amazing.
lol thanks dude
@@MaverickNicolson Well, you deserve much more than my simple prasie, for such results.
I find the melta damages particularily impressive and original.

@@MaverickNicolson I'll, I'll.
Thank you kindly for sharing your inspiring work anyway!
Just found you. Excellent paint skills. Great stuff, quick, consumable and to the point! Liked, subscribed, belled.
Wow ! Excellent work. The "Hold Your Fire" with the charred Ultra Marine is my favorite! Keep up the great work. Nobody ever thinks or depicts what these plasma weapons would actually do. So this is a breath of fresh air !
This will definitely get alot of attention soon. In a good way I believe, this is pretty much the best description for 40k I've seen so far for minatures
This is fantastic. The horrors of war should never be watered down.
Absolutely incredible work. Most models you see show the glory and power of units but this was great to see models made for the aftermath of battles. The half melted space marine with the skeleton coming out was amazing. Thank you for sharing
Great showcase Mav they really are special!
Chilling aspects aside the attention to detail is amazing. Direction of splatter, burned edges to the armor around laser fire, and so on, just really fascinating!
Holy moly, that is grim and gory. Super nice execution and paintjobs! Well done...
WOW.
I especially LOVE well, ALL of it..
But extra specially the marines that have been melted away. The light effects on the armour are amazing. Really well done to you
While I don't like the whole "40k it's not grimdark enough" sentiment, yours is undeniably a great job, and surely I will implement some of these things in my army, even if at a lower level, I'm getting into gore on models, and I want a really war thorn looking army (even if almost no one of my minis made it to the table)
Absolutely smashing stuff! Would love to see more
Great work really love the effects or each kill. Love to see more
That was dope dawgie, especially when you showed the different kinds of death in the universe, everyone wants to think they are the protagonist but even here the main characters get spilt in halve or melted to the bone. P.S. Maybe some Gnarly tyranid attacks or a Drukarii plaything
This is so so incredible man just found you. Subscribed. Please keep putting content out.
Magnificent across the board. Excellent work.
wow. just wow. insane custom work. I'm so scared to get the start painting kit with the space marines and paints but your work is so inspiring that i have to take a crack at it even if i suck
Haha even better the second time around! These are unreal! The last one is my fave!
Amazing work, love it.
Really well done, you are actually exploring something here.
Terribly amazing!! Thanks for share
Love it! So brutal it’s great. Was wandering how did you do some of the stuff. I’m going to rip some spare old marines right now
damn, that was chilling and really well crafted.
The ones still in their 'battle stance' are the saddest. Like they were just unceremoniously taken out before the even knew what hit them. Incredible work on all of them!
Just found your channel. Absolutely insane work man!! About to start YT myself so it's cool to see someone else newer to it, gotta get a mic stand for my camera and Movavi before I can properly start. Really looking forward to seeing what else you do man!!
When the genetically engineered super soldier with armor as strong as a tank gets sliced apart by some bug thing.

I've discovered the hobby of miniature paiting just a couple of months ago and I am looking in awe at those miniatures. Quite the humbling experience _and_ the motivation. The glow effects on those molten armour alone, something I am experimenting with with... sobering results I'd say, are beautiful.
That orange just pops out on the melta stuff..its identical looking to real melting metal...im amazed and very impressed. I am out of words with how creative you are..ill support ya to the end buddy :D thank you for showing this it calms me and i like looking at pretty stuff :D the music is amazing too..what i got into warhammer for was the lore and art and to see this stuff come to life makes me happy :D thank you
These are so highly detailed. Kaos Perfected.
Why did I watch this while I was eating?
Incredible work
Would absolutely love a tutorial on your methods, getting some warjaks soon for Warmachine and wanna add some nice gore to their feet and weapons
Yo!!! So there are a few things that brought me to the Grim Dark universe but stuff like this is why i stayed. Well done sir!
I've taken great inspiration for these. I'm using a lot of them for my Horus Heresy Space Wolf army that I am basing around the Burning of Prospero.
best miniatures I've seen in a long time
This sir, is some extraordinary talent combined with a hell ton of creativity, and very well executed. I could hear the laughter of that blood thirsting god!
Damn, this is really good. Full sized art at miniature scale.
The music fits perfectly with this miniatures. It's brutal, sad and surprisingly amazing.
Dam this hit me in the feels. Really strong video and really cool how you depict the actual cruel fate of the ever churning Imperial war machine.
It can always get worse and there is always something bigger and more angry out in the void.
Such a cool video. The dreadaught with the effing chain sword wow XD
Just as good as the first video! I think this music is more fitting!
these all were so dope and amazing wow
Nice love this. Grim dark moment of death for space marines. Awesome man
Can’t even imagine the absolute fear and acceptance you would feel as that giant chain sword just slashes into you and your entire platoon all in one slash
This is definitely sad in the 40K universe but in this universe this is so awesome and good job, hard work pays off!
1:02 That is amazing, and it probably would look weird if you made it lore accurate, but space marines don’t have a rib-cadge they have a single rib wall
Amazing work, I think it's the first time that someone realistically shows how terrible are some future weapons' effects on a (super!)human body.😱
Imagine what happens to the I.G. they probably just turn into red mist
The plasma, erm, wounds are outstanding!
You have quite the talent, skill or combination thereof.
Thanks for sharing your work.
I gotta start doing this it looks so cool and relaxing
New sub here - can't wait to see more stuff to turn my stomach! BTW - the glow on the plasma cannon on that dreadnaught was AMAZING!
Seems like the Legion of Damned is getting reinforcements galore this time
Fantastic work. I love this.
Ouuf. That's nicely grueling work! It's amazing work! I think it's quite similar to those makeup jobs done on film sets or for emergency services and military training were makup artists make people look like they were shot, burned, hit by shrapnel or pierced by debris. Really reminds me of that and makes me wonder if some of the wounds were inspired by such makeup jobs or maybe even by footage of real casualties...
This is so Amazing! WOW!
hell yes, keep it going!!
That was so badass!! Do you have any tutorials for how you did that plasma/ superheated glow damage effect??? I’d love to learn how you tackle that process
Amazing work
Wow, I'm atually speechless. Everything was done so well and it really did show the many fates in the 40k universe
Just wait for the Imperial Guard casualty showcase.
@@Marinealver You mean red chunks, pink mist, and skeletons?
Incredible take on it.
idk why but 1:48 was the one that got me. The laser or whatever it was just barely skimmed him, but it was enough. That's all it took to kill him, and he probably didn't even see it coming.
I saw yellow and Space Marines being horribly mangled that I immediately thought these were Lamenters
Perfect inspiration! I have some unfortunate fails from my early days of painting. Stripped the fellas but ruined some of their details. They shall now serve as bloody base decorations.
When the Emperor gives you 2 wounds, make woundenade.
Spectacular! I’m inspired to shamelessly copy and try and recreate some of these on my marines
Yeah this is pretty much Grimdark crystalised into a handful minis. Well done, well done.
The Dreadnought at the end is incredible.
okay, you earned a sub, holy crap dude.
Kanes revenge is realy a wet dream for a nurgle themed CSM army. love that body Horror Setting

There is a bit of an hint if you didn't notice
Oh haha😅 I didn't notice the hand holding his arm
Yeeeeeeeees! I love doing things like this, especially if the kitbash goes wrong. Kitbashing technically never goes wrong for me, they just become cool artworks
This is so cool I wish I had the talent to be able to to paint like this
