You are the Bob Ross of carving. Making it a fun thing as it should be. "Don't be afraid to go out on a limb, because thats where the fruit is."
First I love your video's. It makes me want to learn to carve. Second, your carving, your video, your methods. If you feel the need to use sandpaper use it. If the "purists" think that's bad let them think it. You make all of this fun and entertaining. Keep up the good work because more of us want to be like you.
Oh & congratulations on your award for 2nd best you tube carver behind the master, Mr Messer.
I like the raw version with no paint, it's awesome!
Awesome as always, thanks again Doug
Beautiful job Doug!
Very nice Doug! Thanks for sharing!
Doug your style of carving inspires me. Thank you!!!

Doug, this is fantastic! I love how humble you are. You are a brilliant artist.
Very impressive Doug, you manage to bring character into everything you carve.

Thanks Doug. Real craftsmanship. Thank you. 👍😁
Absolutely love this video, I have a tree trunk in my garden, I have to try this
Great to see a log transformed into this interesting face (love the hair and beard swaying slightly to the side - "we don't do straight lines". Great stuff, thankyou.
Another great video! Thanks.
I like the painting videos also......and crafting ones.
I always love to see how different people approach doing the eyes. Every time it gives me a little more insight into how to do it better next time. Thanks! I will be watching this one over a few times…
That turned out amazing! I do enjoy the painting.
Thanks for the video Doug
thanks Doug, I just started 0ut doing this as a hobby, I appreciate you posting the link to the basic carving tutorials.
Awesome job Doug, I bought some cottonwood bark a while back and it’s been sitting in a corner for a few months. Your video has me thinking it’s time to get to it. Thanks!

Amazing work Doug! Is great to see actual art at work. I carved a handle for my fire steel today and now I can see that I am light years behind. But I do enjoy the learning process. Thank you for sharing!
A true master carver! So inspirational you are! The gnomes are your friends..
Thank you!
Great job Doug!
I’m just starting out. I would never have guessed how deep all the features are buried into the wood. Especially the eyes. Great video Doug. Thank you. I’m inspired to give carving a whirl.
Beautiful! Well done
Ģreat job Doug !! His blue eyes really pop !!!
Just starting out and loving your style and approach. Inspiring but not too daunting. Keep up the good work Doug! Thank you from the UK 🇬🇧
So great, Doug!! Thanks!!
Nice to see you using a round piece of 'wood' for carving instead of always blocks (since I usually try to carve on tree stumps). Usually get a new piece of information from every video. Great job. Hope you made a painting video of this. Really like the colour you achieved on the beard.
Thst was a great video, love the way he turned out, thanks again Doug, now its my turn to carve one. Call wait till the next video.
Awesome job and very informative. Thank you

Thank you Doug
I like that face very good work Thanks
Very nice work again!
I find the difficult part of carving is the different depths needed to build a face or an object, just practice I suppose, you make it look simple now.☺️👍
Looks great!
Beautiful work
Very nice . Got to get back to carving. You have inspired me ! Thanks
Looks great . Thanks for the video
Great carving! The eyes just make it come to life!
Enjoyed as always
Great video, Doug. I'm going to look for some bark-right after I buy the chisels.
So Cool!!! Don't short yourself!!!
Hi Doug, I just discovered your channel yesterday and you have inspired me to buy a few carving tools and to give this a go ! Im really enjoying your videos. Cheers Mate from Sydney Australia 👍👍
👏👏👏 Looking Good.
Have a blessed day.
Looks good
Hey Doug, thanks for the cottonwood practice video, very informative! I have to disagree with you about the painting, I love watching you paint, I learn a new technique every time!😬
Thanks again
Absolutely LOve Your Video's !And anyone that say's Your Average, your Below grade, your just learning?? Their crazy ! Linker is the Man and followed him since day one ! Yes I'm a very beginner and I mostly do Christmas stuff. Santa , Mrs. Claus , wood crackers, bla bla bla ! And yes I shoved a gouge completely through my hand a couple weeks ago. And yes I had to have it sewed up. Good lessons are sometime hard learned ! But The " LINKER MAN" is always chilled out , calm demeanor , and a Great Teacher. Your Carving are Super cool , especially you Wood spirits and your Painting and finishes are Tops ! Don't ever be hard on yourself,,, your carvings & Personality 😄 are A+ !
UA-cam’s algorithm brought me here I think you’re a total legend Doug! All the very best from England 🏴
Beautiful
You make it look easy.
Great work. Thank you
Thanks for sharing
Soooo good
Very nice Doug.. I've been putting off digging into the bark, I do have a few pieces to try I feel intimidated every time I pick up a piece and end up just putting back in the box. Thank you for the video you always make it look easy.
Fantastic!
Good to see you My friend enjoyed the video 🤠
❤ Yet another masterful carving. Seriously impressive. But it looked so much better before it was painted!
Very nice 👌👍. Love watching you create awesome woodwork. All the best. Peace and good fortune and good health to you and your family.
Thanks Doug !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Preciosos trabajos que usted hace gracias por compartir su talento 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I hate to break it to ya Doug, but you ARE an expert in this field. There may be people that do certain things better, but we all admire your skill and ability to teach. You always produce such fascinating pieces. Thank you for all your efforts.
To cool! Those are my favorite things that you carve. I have a cotton wood tree in my yard. It's my favorite because the leaves click together and it sounds like I'm in Canada. I didn't know they got so big an now I have to cut it down. Very sad. I like the colors of it. I've never seen what's under the bark. I even have my grandfather's carving tools but never used them an I know I can't do what you just did but maybe I'll try it. Someone told me that woods not good for anything. Well now I know it is thank you.
Hey Doug, I love watching your Tube's and I sure am learning a lot. Me, I'm just starting out with carving, though I don't have much gear but I'm a believer in using all tools and methods to reach an ends. I sure hope that's OK. Paint, Natural as long as the finished piece looks good and right to the maker that's all that matters. I for one don't mind watching you painting pieces, it's all part of the making. From sunny England thank you and stay safe
I like to watch the painting also!
Awesome video
Thank you Mr Linker
Very Cool, living in SW MN we have small pieces of cottonwood bark, where is a good source for carving quality Cottonwood bark. Thank you, and keep making these awesome videos.
