I enjoy watching your videos I am 68 and have cancer. And need something to relax me I have ordered knives and gloves and bass wood so I hope I have fun with it and can do it god willing. Thank you
Absolutely LOve Your Video's !And anyone that say's Your Average, your Below grade, your just learning?? Their crazy ! Linker is the Man and followed him since day one ! Yes I'm a very beginner and I mostly do Christmas stuff. Santa , Mrs. Claus , wood crackers, bla bla bla ! And yes I shoved a gouge completely through my hand a couple weeks ago. And yes I had to have it sewed up. Good lessons are sometime hard learned ! But The " LINKER MAN" is always chilled out , calm demeanor , and a Great Teacher. Your Carving are Super cool , especially you Wood spirits and your Painting and finishes are Tops ! Don't ever be hard on yourself,,, your carvings & Personality 😄 are A+ !
First I love your video's. It makes me want to learn to carve. Second, your carving, your video, your methods. If you feel the need to use sandpaper use it. If the "purists" think that's bad let them think it. You make all of this fun and entertaining. Keep up the good work because more of us want to be like you.
Great to see a log transformed into this interesting face (love the hair and beard swaying slightly to the side - "we don't do straight lines". Great stuff, thankyou.

I always love to see how different people approach doing the eyes. Every time it gives me a little more insight into how to do it better next time. Thanks! I will be watching this one over a few times…
I hate to break it to ya Doug, but you ARE an expert in this field. There may be people that do certain things better, but we all admire your skill and ability to teach. You always produce such fascinating pieces. Thank you for all your efforts.
I’m just starting out. I would never have guessed how deep all the features are buried into the wood. Especially the eyes. Great video Doug. Thank you. I’m inspired to give carving a whirl.
Very Cool, living in SW MN we have small pieces of cottonwood bark, where is a good source for carving quality Cottonwood bark. Thank you, and keep making these awesome videos.
I find the difficult part of carving is the different depths needed to build a face or an object, just practice I suppose, you make it look simple now.☺️👍
Hey Doug, thanks for the cottonwood practice video, very informative! I have to disagree with you about the painting, I love watching you paint, I learn a new technique every time!😬 Thanks again
Awesome job Doug, I bought some cottonwood bark a while back and it’s been sitting in a corner for a few months. Your video has me thinking it’s time to get to it. Thanks!
Thanks for this video. After watching you show us your cottonwood carving, I ordered some bark. Did my first carving. Wow, I Love bark carving. Thanks for introducing us to this type of carving.
Hi Doug, I just discovered your channel yesterday and you have inspired me to buy a few carving tools and to give this a go ! Im really enjoying your videos. Cheers Mate from Sydney Australia 👍👍
Nice to see you using a round piece of 'wood' for carving instead of always blocks (since I usually try to carve on tree stumps). Usually get a new piece of information from every video. Great job. Hope you made a painting video of this. Really like the colour you achieved on the beard.
Amazing work Doug! Is great to see actual art at work. I carved a handle for my fire steel today and now I can see that I am light years behind. But I do enjoy the learning process. Thank you for sharing!
Doug your no expert rubbish your work is fantastic an insperation to me i may try that got me some hazel branches split quite big too left over from carving my shillaglahs 👍🇬🇧🐾🦊
