Listening to Michelle Dockery talk compared to how "lady Mary" talk is such a huge difference. It shows how much work she put into that character. I never heard her talk as herself and it's such a huge difference. She really made Mary regal almost. So poised. So snobbish. It's amazing!
Michelle is from the cockney “east end” of London. She has said she had to “posh it up” so much as mary, she became used to it. She has said that she “becomes cockney again” when she’s drunk or visiting her hometown.
I didn't watch it when it first ran but looking for something different to watch I caught the reruns. I was hooked from the first episode. Wonderful show & the movie was equally as great. Can't wait for the new movie.
Second. I'll admit I became a Downton Abbey about mid way through the 2nd/3rd season. Then my local PBS station aired a marathon run of all the seasons to that point and I was HOOKED!! The necessity for Binge watching began in an instant. I like period dramas, but Not all are created equal. Yet they generally have something in common that after a while, leads me to turn away and forget about afterwards. Downton Abbey rose above for multiple reasons. Capital to all of them is the Legendary Dame Maggie Smith.
Just a BRILLIANT program and movie. I think ALL of the characters brought something from their own personalities and or lives to the series. I really feel as if all the actors were real characters we as the viewer could meet and relate with them on a personal level.
I first heard about this while watching the TV show Suits when it was mentioned by the Mike Ross character many years ago. Then it's wasn't until X-mas just gone that I started watching it. I got it done in 3 weeks. And just finished the second round of it all. The 2 main things I love is that first all the same actors were back each time (hate it when they are replaced) And second, the two films carried on from where it left off from the TV shows. Both very important I thought!
Yes! I’ve never thought of the fact that pretty much all of the actors stay! I do also love how each episode is a carry on from the last and throughout the seasons the characters may reference previous seasons/episodes
🤔 I’m not going to admit how many times I’ve watched all seasons and both movies ^^ I will say that Michelle Dockery is superb in every role I’ve ever seen her in and so are all the others! 😂
Absolutely adore this show & the cast is especially wonderful! The actors all have a special place in my heart for their portrayal of their characters. Every once in a while, I HAVE to rewatch the entire show again, every single episode, and still weep during the same scenes, just like the first time I watched.
Dare I say it, but the Dowager really made the show for me. I love her character so much and it was portrayed to perfection. The others are just side characters 😆😆
I wish the Queen of England would bring back some of these things that they were had like the coming out when you go in front of the king and queen And Lord Protector
It's amazing how England is different back of the Early mid1900s both Mary and Matthew Are Related by blood if people did that in America they would be arrested even though that this is a TV series only but I married my sister
Not really...I mean, yes, they are related, but they are distant cousins, like third or fourth, or further. There is nothing illegal in that, not even today.
Welcome to sweet home Alabama! Wait, let’s have a look at the Godfather III. Mary Corleone and Vincent Mancini are first cousins and they definitely have affairs
You have apparently not heard of Warren Jeff’s version of polygamy. “Men” having *dozens* of wives, the wives are often sisters/cousins, and range in age from 60’s to teenagers. The females being “arranged” into marriage as soon as they become women (menstruate). Not uncommon for the “arranged” marriage to be between half siblings who are also cousins and otherwise related.

Yes she has an entirely different accent BUT on this video I noticed everyone's voices sound high. Listen to Elizabeth.

One of my favorite shows. So good from beginning to end. Even the movie did the show justice. Carried on the tradition.

I love it cause there’s different ages and personalities presented perfectly and the character developed off all of them is amazing
It's insane thinking from even the 1st 5 minutes of episode 1 that anyone would doubt how epic the show would be.

what else has she been in?
@@thirza_ After Downton, she was in Good Behavior, Godless, The Gentlemen
@@thirza_ before Downton, she appeared in Hanna and His dark Materials.
Loved the TV series & first movie, so ready for the second movie to come out next year 2022!! 👏🏽❤

Boy, the actress playing Mary has a completely different accent, vocal tone and intonation pattern than does her character.
Love this tv-serie♥️
Cora's real voice shocked me 🤣

Downton Abby survived extraordinary changes.

Sorry Hugh. Show started in 1912 right after Titanic. Not not 1916

As the US Navy carrier pilots would say bravo zulu and sierra hotel look it up
I wish the Queen of England would bring back some of these things that they were had like the coming out when you go in front of the king and queen And Lord Protector
Princess Margaret said it was stopped because “too many of the ‘wrong people’ were being presented.”
