Nice assessment Julie. You did a great job of pointing out the space requirement for selecting the right coffee table design for the living room. I myself use those 1/2 & 2/3 rules of thumb proportioning when designing living room spaces. I also incorporate the special use of the Fibonacci and the golden rectangle proportioning when planning spaces.

Ohhh 😯 gosh these are all so very very beautiful!! I’m currently coffee tableless. We just moved into a mid century (1959) traditional home before Halloween and are still deciding on the couches for the room before we decide on the coffee table. But I am flabbergasted at the prices of some of these. Honestly tho they all look like works of art and when we are talking art there is room for investments. Thank you for the list. Much needed, thanks. There's so much more advice out there on styling the table than on choosing it in the 1st place. Especially appreciate the height rule. As a stopgap, currently placing drinks on a 28" C table & it's super awkward.
Height is never considered unless it’s awkward, then it becomes the main issue 😂

Thank you for this beautiful and very informative video. I am a fan of coffee table, though if I may share, the one I'm using as of now is a leather ottoman which serve as a coffee table, and also something where I put on my legs when I need to relax. It can also be used as additional chair for guest. Having a small space like mine, not only an ottoman but also a metal nesting coffee table from IKEA is my favorite. It goes great with my small minimalist interior. I wish I would have some of those elegant and high-end coffee tables that you featured in the video when I already have a bigger home. Great tip about the Pinterest search. I am amazed how awesome coffee tables are, they are so beautiful. Great choices! I would love a video about headboards and bed frames. My bedroom is very small but I would love a tall headboard with a high bed frame so I can organize some stuff under the bed. I’m not sure if the large headboard is a design mistake or a good idea.

Many fine, intelligent and stylish choices here. I was going to suggest nesting tables for you and your growing family. Versatile and modular living is important for you now. Multiuse furniture is space saving and smart. And believe me your growing toy collection will take up most of your decor. It’s temporary and enjoy it while it lasts. Happy days! I did not know about nesting coffee tables ! I thought they only made the small side nesting tables. Your coffee table choice to buy is very beautiful. Soft edges, the lower one for Kamari and big enough to hold lots of stuff. And stuff is coming your way! Stay pretty! 🥰🤗

I loved your video as usual and I’ve been searching for a coffee table for a while now with no luck. My negative space is 8ft x 8ft and I’ve been looking for a 48” or 52” square coffee table. My furniture has more traditional lines but on the cleaner contemporary side if I’m making any sense at all. Lol
I’ve been thinking white marble or quartz would look great with my cream leather sofas and cream linen high back chairs. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
I would probably opt for a natural wood against all the whites Christine. That way you get some contrast. Veined marble is beautiful as well 😍

Thank you Julie for all the great tips!!! Love all your recommendations. For my living room, I bought the Pacific Bench 3-Piece L-Shaped Sectional with Wood Legs from C&B. The length is 110” by 110” so if it’s half then the size of the coffee table should be 55” but I couldn’t find anything in this size for round coffee table. I am eyeing on the Oasis Round Wood Coffee Table also from C&B which is 39.5” width and 39.5” depth. Do you think they will work out? Thanks and have a great day!!!
My measurements are just a rule to scale your furniture proportionately, but of course you can always go more or less Lisa! 48”D would work well if there are no other chairs in the space. 39.5” is great if you have an accent chair facing this sectional 👍🏻

Can you please provide some needed advise? I have a 96 long sofa with an 8x10 rug. I want to purchased a round wood coffee table ( prefer the Feng Shui method to keep the conversation flowing), but I feel the table may appear too small for such a large sofa. Please advise, Gracias.

My partners so clumsy, and all of these are so beautiful. Great video as always. I’d love a video on creating a work space at home if you have time please? I have moved all the clutter from the spare room which took a full week of 3 hours per day. And need a small desk and chair for a laptop and and anything else y feet 10 yo u think would be useful . My job is on my feet 10 hours a day in retail and I’m switching to working from home and want to make the space feel comfy enough to not keep getting up and moving. What a great video! Im having the hardest time choosing a table. We have two 91” dark cognac leather couches in an L shape. Opposite one couch is a velvet square armed chair is a deep teal. The media consoles we like are kind of mid century style in a medium wood. I feel

Im wondering if you could or have done a video on balance/symmetry when you have an L shaped sectional.
Also if you have to have your work space/desk in The bedroom? (Single bedroom btw Kua #8 female)

I love your design tips, I need your advice, I am decorating my living room contemporary modern, my living room is quite small, and I am getting rid of an oval coffee table, that takes too much space, I do want my coffee table, I love octagonal shape, but what shape of table do you recommend? my colors in my living room are blue silver and gold bling, ☺Thank you! If the oval is too large, I would suggest nesting tables Mystica. That way, you can tuck one underneath the other to free up space. Shape is up to what your seating group dictates. Good luck!

If the negative space is square, square or round works best with the sectional in question Mary. Sounds like a personal preference, but I love that round is soft and easier to love around. Thank you for watching 🙏🏻☺️
I have a black microfiber sectional and apparently just learned microfiber is a no no? But it’s what I currently have and I do like it, what material of that ottoman/ coffee table combo from maiden home would look good in your opinion?

Oh my goodness, and ending with the Pinterest hack? 😇 My next request is your best hutch/library/built-in ideas. Seems like they are so expensive these days. Also a huge investment if you are going to custom build one out. So choosing the right look that will be timeless but still cool is really confusing. Which are your faves and where can they be found? I’ve just noticed that they have become so popular, like all of a sudden every design guru is adding one somewhere in the kitchen or in the living/dining room again…sometimes dome shaped on top or now black steel and glass is so popular. But they’re extremely expensive so would love to see your ideas on which ones are the best and can even be moved around from room to room over time.
