Lisa is one of the few designers on UA-cam that I want to have as a friend. She’s just super helpful, instructive and very down to earth. I also particularly love when she says “ooh ooh” because she’s so excited at the beginning
Here's another tip for you guys: get yourself a nice coffee table with a drawer element! It's a life saver. I have one, it's very stylish, elegant, and it has a deep drawer for all the junk because life is messy and we need storage! Especially us who live in small spaces.
Another very important consideration...especially when you have friends over for drinks...make sure the coffee table is within reach so if they want to set their drinks down they can without having to really reach (avoids people spilling things too)
I can only live with a coffee table with 2 shallow drawers, remotes, coasters and. And love lower shelf for handy magazines. I wouldn't trade my coffee table style for the world.
I don’t have coffee tables. I swore off the “wart in the middle of the room” long ago. It feels very satisfying to reclaim the space. I do have really cool side tables. Really cool way to make a statement.
I'm not a fan of coffees either but then I saw one that I love. It is a beautiful wood with two panes of glass. Underneath, on either side, is a cream coloured square stool. It had a lid and great for storage. They can be pulled out to be used as seats.
Your hitting it right on the nail!!!!! I am looking for a coffee table for my living room. I am also debating to even place one. I am still deciding! Can’t wait for this video!!!!
Hi,Lisa. Waka from Japan. I love the tree root table! how fantastic it is! Ive learned the coffee table is the place where you want to feel in, not for putting on a cap of coffee, remote of TV.
Lisa is always answering questions that I didn't know I had until she did. Thanks always for using your talents and energy to help the rest of us :) Can't wait for dezignclub!

Hi Lisa, Loved this video. Contrasting the decor elements with the substance of the table was a light bulb moment for me. So excited for the launch of the design club and the rest of this series 👍

Lisa you are such fun! Great explanations of why things look good...proportions, number of items etc. great content. “Fiddling” is the fun part. I always take seasonal photos in the house & it really tells more than we “see” otherwise. Wondering about your lighting on the shelves behind you..so nice! Thanks🤗
I am sooo happy you liked this video Sherry, thank you for all the love!! 😇 Taking photos is super important, especially if you liked how you decorated the space for the season!!! It definitely makes the decoration process easier the next year!!! 🙌🏼😆❤️
My coffee table is a thrift ed oval table with my eccentric thrifted finds. A jar of farmer's market sunflowers. Love fresh cut over fake. Large ceramic bull terrior I named Spuds. Green glass bowl, a candle and some coasters. Occasionally there might be a Siamese or calico cat hanging out there, depends on the mood. They like hanging out with Spuds.

I refinished and painted our small antique coffee table. It isn't big enough to for bold styling, and the solid maple top (finished with hemp oil) is so beautiful I don't even want to put anything on it yet. I painted the base a blue-gray shade, which contrasts nicely with the maple. I am considering maybe a glass tray or bowl, but right now it is totally bare.
Great video . My coffee table reflects my personal likes .. a series of fantastic books , crystal sculpture and blue and white and unique vintage silver
Lisa, in this series, it would be cool if we could submit pictures of our design (ex. our styled coffee tables) after we implement your tips and then you could do a video on what works and what doesn’t.

Awww LISA you are a joy in our life. I'm looking for a minimalist coffee table for a long time and I was thinking as your this new video pops up 🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤
We have a gorgeous Herman Miller Noguchi coffee table that we love but always struggle to find the right accessories for styling. Thanks for another awesome video Lisa.
I am SO happy you are digging the videos Lily!!! 😊 This means SO much to me, thank you for the kind words! I am always here to help solve your design dilemmas!!! 🙌🏼🤓💖💖💖
Fantastic video and just what the doctor ordered. Can you now do one for the dining table while not being used to eat on and maybe one video on dining table set different style statements. Thank you so much. You are "the" Goddess of design.

Another tip: larger-than-average coffee tables can really elevate the room as well. Even in a small space, they just add something special......ones with an open 'airy' base will keep it from overwhelming a smaller area, as do those with glass tops. Thrifted a 42" by 46" square glass-top, bamboo base table---a statement piece which finishes off my living room without overtaking it. Some ppl decor their so nicely that there is hardly any space left for coffee mugs or they start running around finding place for their decor items whn coffee is served to the guests 😁😁😆😆😅🤣🤣... Thnx Lisa 🥰.. That tree root table was oh so beautiful 🤩... Stay Blessed Stay Happy 😘😍🥰🤗🦄🧚♀️
SO true Shailyy!!! You definitely want to have enough space to put a coffee on a coffee table - amiright?!!? 🤣😅 LOL thank you SOOO MUCH for watching!!! 🌟🥰😘😘😘
Thank you so much for the kind words Victoria!! 😊💓 I have a feeling this series is going to help out a LOT of people that want to dabble in decorating!!!
Love your energy and your down to earth (keeping in mind there's life going on around the decor) tips. I don't have a coffee table, but use a side table when one is needed. However, there's nothing on it, because of it's function. Maybe I'll use the rule of one. Thanks!
C A R!!! That is totally okay, you can use these tips if you are feeling like spicing up your side table as well!! 😁 But I get it's mainly for functional purposes!
I’ve really never cared much for live edge or tree root tables, etc. this tree root with the simple small round vase and greenery is like a dream. Thanks, Lisa.
I used to love having the old Andy Warhol's Interview Magazines on the coffee table. They were such vivid and artistic covers. Made you look very sophisticated too (I really bought them for the cover...rarely read them...lol) Question...what do people think about stacks of coasters on a coffee table? I put them there because I want people to use them, and found some really nice vivid hand painted ones that I think add to whats on the table. Some people think its rude to have coasters out (I'm not in that camp)
Scott!! Great question - as long as they look intentional with the decor I think it is fine.. Lots of the example photos I showed had ashtrays on them so if you're going to be using the coaster as both a decorative piece and it's functional, that's amazing!! 👍🏼
@@LisaHoltDesign ash trays...are they still a thing? I cant remember the last time I saw anyone smoke (which is a very good thing), and sure as hell aint nobody smoking in my house!
@@scpatl4now I still have my dad's mid century modern style ashtray... he died of lung cancer several years ago. 😢 I don't know why I kept it... I don't smoke, and don't let anyone smoke in my house, but for whatever reason, I can't get rid of it.
@@SweetStuffOnMonarchLane I also have my parent's glass ashtray as a decorative piece. Both have passed away from smoking related illness, I don't smoke but I'm keeping it for the sentimental value.
I have a very small square living room. I also a have large scale rectangle (hung vertically) framed print on one wall and a round artisan crafted copper and glass piece of art above the fireplace, square side table and a rectangle area rug. So I wanted to break up the straight lines of the sofa, print, rug, side table and fireplace and chose a two tier, rod iron and wood ROUND coffee table. I absolutely love the effect and how the iron ties in with my fireplace art piece . I love the design and shape of the table, it looks like art in my eyes. And I am somewhat of a minimalist and don't like my decor to look too contrived. So I have one candle on my table. I love decorative candles because not only do they serve a function, they work as a decorative accessory too.
Haven't seen you in awhile, girl you look great and can I just tell you how much I needed help with my coffee table, thanks so much for all the great ideas. Next, designing shelves with our stuff so they don't look junkie.
Lori!!! YAY I am so happy you liked this video - I cannot wait to post more videos in this series!!! 👏🏼😋 Thank you for all the support and tuning in this morning!!! 🧡☕️

I was hoping for tips on how to choose a coffee table….size, proportions, clearance, unique options….this was fun but not exactly what I needed.
Hey Kari! I go into more about selecting pieces of furnishings in the club, so make sure you’re signed up at thedezignclub.com
Eighteen to twenty-four inches of clearance is pretty standard, but it depends on the size of the room, and how much furniture you have in it.

Lol interior design comes very naturally to me. I've got the knack!
Love your videos and vibe.
Love your content. I learned so much for you! Thanks for your help!! ❤️
Loved the tree stump!!
OMG right Melanie?!?! 🤩 It's so different from anything traditional - so sleek!!! 👏🏼✨
I am going to love this series. Very helpful, and you are so much fun!
Thankyou, Ms. Lisa!♡
Always La Kalixa!! 🥰 Thank you so much for all the support, I am glad you are digging these videos!! 💞😘✨
I’ve really never cared much for live edge or tree root tables, etc. this tree root with the simple small round vase and greenery is like a dream. Thanks, Lisa.
Hurry up Ms.L.! Can’t wait.❤️🇨🇦
See ya at 9AM PST!!! 😉❤️
Lisa, I like your new video intro. Why? Because it’s shorter and gives you more time to dazzle us with your brilliant ideas and insights! 🤗🤗🤗
Aww I am SO happy you guys are loving this new intro!! 🤩 What a good way to put it into such sweet words, thank you so much!!! 🙌🏼😘
You are a super teacher. Thank you for all your help.
I appreciate that!
love your new intro!
I used to love having the old Andy Warhol's Interview Magazines on the coffee table. They were such vivid and artistic covers. Made you look very sophisticated too (I really bought them for the cover...rarely read them...lol)
Question...what do people think about stacks of coasters on a coffee table?
@@jacqueline4451 Thanks, it's good to know I'm not the only one 😊
My Noguchi hosts a singular large Alessi Mediterraneo bowl in red. It's been like that for years and I never get tired of its simplicity.
Great guidance, as always, Lisa. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Haven't seen you in awhile, girl you look great and can I just tell you how much I needed help with my coffee table, thanks so much for all the great ideas.
