I made one of these inspired by your video. I found one major change made it so much easier. I sanded & stained all my pieces before assemble. I used clear Gorilla wood glue so no visible glue marks. Lastly I used Minwax spray polyacrylic in satin. I also backed my wood dowels with a layer of cardboard just for added stability. The wood dowels were glued to that also. Like you I had to buy a smaller dowel to fill in the last space. The biggest trick though is to pre-stain all your wood pieces & use clear wood glue. I and everyone who sees my new coffee table are completely in love with it. Thank you so much for the inspiration & instructions!
Tip, I work with wood a lot and this is a great DIY I am definitely going to make a smaller one for an in table I already have a nice coffee table that I reworked make yourself a nice circle on the inside of the top and the bottom before you attach the inside supports that way you can follow those lines to make sure your dowel is in line on the top in the bottom :-) The table would also look cute with a little short round legs
It is actually a little over $400 $200 for the dowels $2.36 per dowel 48 inch $100 for the 3 feet round board 2x4, pre stain, stain, sealer satin, and wood glue for the rest of the expenses But big thanks to You for sharing the video! I just completed it today and it came out great
So cool. I'd like to make this type of table with the pedestal dowels a little closer to the center, so it looks more like a spool. You could attach 2 smaller pine rounds (or MDF rounds) centered inside the 3' rounds used for the top and the base, and then push your dowels right up to the rounds when gluing them in, like a template. Maybe use 24" or 30" rounds. Should result in a perfectly round pedestal, and you won't need as many dowels, because of the smaller diameter. Make sure you decrease the height of the frame to account for the extra rounds.
This is the type of project where you would almost be better off staining the individual pieces before putting it all together; especially the dowels. It is so easy to pull the dowel through your clenched hand while holding a rag with some stain on it.
Lovely!! I just hope the dowels stay, i mean they dont have any rear top and bottom support, you could have put a big circular piece of wood maybe to which the dowels would bond, maybe even have small nails go through the dowels and into the rear circular wood piece. All the best for future endeavors! :)
Wood glue is actually suuuuper strong! The wood will break before the glued part does. If you try it, let me know how it turns out with the suggestions you made. ☺️
YES! I initially wanted to do that, but the costs of kept increasing on lumber. 😂 I would find a table with a center base already in place, and then put a cardboard concrete form (sonotube) around the base for your half-round trim pieces to attach to.
Thank you!! It's pretty basic- we use an Apple TV for our Netflix, Hulu etc. and a soundbar for sound. Behind the fireplace mantle (hollow) is where we keep the extension cord. ☺
Beautifully done, thank you! I didn't check out the address of the girl you got the inspiration from, but I love your honesty. Most people will not credit the ones they got the idea from. :)))
l really love this table . question I see you used oil based wood conditioner , stain and put polycyclic(Water based) on it. Is it ok to mix with oil based stain with water based polycrylic?
That's a great question-- I personally didn't have any issues with the absorption or adhesion! Per Minwax's website- "the Polycrylic crystal clear finish ideal for use over all Minwax Oil-Based and Water-Based Stains and colors." So you should be good to go!☺️
RIGHT?! It's one that I would not be excited about to build again. Send me a picture of how yours turned out on IG (@unsophisticated_diy)! I'd love to see it.
This is AMAZING. So tempted to try this when I move (but will need to get Home Depot to cut any wood for me 😅). Thanks for sharing, can’t wait to see your other vids!
Hmmm.... If I were trying to create one with storage, I would use a large concrete form (picked up from Lowes they are cardboard) and glue 1/2 round moldings on the concrete form directly. Then I would cut out a small square in the concrete form, glue the half rounds to that and have that be a hidden storage section. You might even be able to have little hinges on it so it opens seamlessly. I *think* that would work out. 🤔
I'm assuming you're based out of Korea? I had never heard of tembar board before, and it looks quite cool but it also seems to be 100% not obtainable in the US (the place that I am) as far as I can tell. If you have had a different experience (being in the US and being able to get it) I'd love to know! Maybe I'm just not search engining well enough today.
You likely could if you can cut your own circle top and bottom out of plywood with a plunge router! And the shorter the table, the less dowels you'd need.
I don't have a router with a plunge, so cutting a perfect circle out of plywood would have been a bit challenging. But I think it's a great way to go if you have the right tools! ☺️

Zoe! Those are such great tips!! I especially love your clear poly spray tip-- genius!
Hello. Did you glue the wood dowels to the cardboard first, then apply the strip to the round top and bottom?
Do you have link for cardboar used in cannot find

SO smart!!!
I really like how the table came out in the end. The gloss really gave it that artistic wood look. Going have to try this soon
Thanks!! I'm so glad you liked it.
Really nice! I would have made the top loose, for storage. I live in a small house, in Sweden. 🥰
Great idea! If you try that let me know!

I almost did that. It honestly went really quickly with the foam brush.
This was very helpful, thank you! I'm thinking of doing this in my new apartment
I hope you do! It's great practice for patience too! 😂
I am so impressed, you are like my new hero.
Aww, thanks. It was work! 😂
I have been thinking of making such a table, and so glad I watched your video. I feel more confident now for this project. Thank you.
That's awesome! Hope you make your table!
Really like this and you give lots of good tips. My house is small so thinking about how I could make this usable for storage, too.
I think you could totally make something with storage! I think a few comments below had some good tips for how you might do that too.
I love this. I'd like to be able to make it into a storage unit. Any suggestions on how?
It looks beautiful. I'm here thinking on how to remake it but for storage top for the living room pillows
I LOVE that idea!
It turned out so well!! Thanks for the tutorial 🔥
Glad you liked it!!
Amazing! I’m going to try this. Like you my budget sometimes doesn’t quite fit my expensive taste.
Awesome! Let me know how it goes!

I just love it. It is perfect. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful experience. Where did you get the top and bottom (surface) ? Thanks
Top and bottom came from Home Depot. I think Lowes sells these in store too. :)
Great job - maybe to speed up the process of the dowels and the precision, you could use a router to run a rebate where the dowels fit in
Oh! That's a great idea! If you try it, let me know how it goes!
Oh that's a good idea, I reckon you've just saved me a bit of time!

Can you please diy a marble cube side table from large marble tiles?
Oh dang! What a great idea!! I'll start thinking through how I might do that!
Hi, looks great, what is the name of the wood conditioner ?
I'm totally gonna make this and I think I'll paint it black thanks for this super fun tutorial!!
Great idea!!
Hi
Awesome! Please what is the size of the pine rounds and where did you get them Home depot?
Looks amazing definitely trying!

NIce build. Do you have a name or a link for the original table pictured in the thumbnail?
I’m in love. Will do something like this!
this is so cute!! amazing job!!!
Thanks!

Hi, it’s beautiful 🤩 could you please share the width of the round top u have used and the link to it .
You did AMAZING! Thank you so much for the step by step!
Thank you so much!
Gorgeous!
Great DIY! How did you get your dowels to stay straight all the way around?
Crazy how pine edge rounds 1x3’ are sold out everywhere except for Amazon that has it for $120 a piece
I used my speed square periodically to ensure they were upright.

Thank you so much!!💕
I love it!!
I liked what you created it was amazing
Could you tell me where did you get the dowel from ?
They are cheap !!
I ordered the dowels from Amazon before they became sold out and price inflated.
This is AMAZING. So tempted to try this when I move (but will need to get Home Depot to cut any wood for me 😅). Thanks for sharing, can’t wait to see your other vids!
Jess! Do it!! Just be very patient with yourself. 😂
Hi im carpenter
You had me at the boujee but on a budget taste😩👌🏽
Hahaha! The struggle is real.
Hi. Looks great! Where did you get the circular parts? What wood is that?
Thanks
I tried to link all the materials in the description. The circle tops from Home Depot and the dowels from Amazon.
I rather put the work in myself. I love it
I hope you build it! It's definitely a statement piece!
Love that coffee table !!!!! ♥️💜💕
It's a fun one! Definitely a statement piece.
Is came out so good! Thanks for sharing !
Thanks for watching!
Nice work. Super creative with limited tools.
Thanks so much!
How to determine the perfect size of the round coffee table !!
Was this very heavy? Its beautiful!
Not too bad! It's a bit awkward to pick up though.
Very nice love it keep it up plz make a herringbone console table with doors
Thanks for the idea! That would be super fun!
This looks gorgeous!
Thank you!
Awesome! I’m definitely going to try this.
Have fun! And be patient!!
How would you do this if you wanted it to have storage? I'm thinking the top could be a lid you lift off. But I have no idea how to do it LOL.
Hmmm.... If I were trying to create one with storage, I would use a large concrete form (picked up from Lowes they are cardboard) and glue 1/2 round moldings on the concrete form directly.

Thank you so much for this
Thank YOU for your comment. 💕
I think using tembar board instead of wooden dowels would have made the whole process easier but the outcome looks great :)
I hear you! It would have been sooo much faster. Even half rounds glued to a concrete form would have been sufficient/quicker.
I'm assuming you're based out of Korea? I had never heard of tembar board before, and it looks quite cool but it also seems to be 100% not obtainable in the US (the place that I am) as far as I can tell. You likely could if you can cut your own circle top and bottom out of plywood with a plunge router! And the shorter the table, the less dowels you'd need.

Thank you!!
The dollar tree sells wooden toilet plunger handles it a good alternative.
Oooh! I like this!
Do you also calculate the price of your tools ?
I don't usually use tool calculations in my cost breakdowns- unless it's a specialized tool that needs to be purchased.
Very good job
Thank you so much!
Love your video, but why didn't you just use Pine Half-Round Molding putting a base on 1/4 plywood its easyer
I don't have a router with a plunge, so cutting a perfect circle out of plywood would have been a bit challenging. But I think it's a great way to go if you have the right tools! ☺️
Very Beautiful! Great job
Thank you very much!
You worked for that piece!
So it takes about a meter squared of floor space, yet it has no storage underneath for magazines, books or anything 🤔.
It was certainly a process!
amazing!
Thanks!
Much easier to recreate using an empty cable wire spool too.
Great idea!
Easy to use like it cause it portable
Really nice drum but too bad it does not provide any storage options inside.
😊😊😊😊
Im definitely making one - i wish i could use all that space inside for storage-ill keep you posted
I think you could! You might be able to do a swivel top. If you try it, let me know!
Your couch??? From?
I picked it up off FB Marketplace. So I don't know where it's from. :(
