My Daddy used to sit and listen to this song and eventually learned to play it on his acoustic guitar when my Mom divorced him and married another man. I was only about 7 years old, and didn't understand he was grieving the loss of his marriage and his family. Looking back as an adult, I know how heartbroken he was. Such a sad beautiful song.
In 1984 when I was 16, my best friend was a another girl named Angie. She was 16, waist long blonde hair and tall as the summer was long. The 45 of this song was in constant play on my stereo as I cried and prayed they'd find her. Months passed and I got a phone call - it was her! She said "Baby - it's me! I'll be coming home soon." and then she hung up. They traced her to California, long way from Omaha, NE. She'd been taken by an Afghan guy. She was never seen or heard from again. This song can be a little bit too real. The Stones are the greatest band ever, and part of their greatness has to do with their versatility. “Miss You” is another one that should be reacted to.
How is this for an absolute mindf@ck? Keith Richards wrote this song while about trying to say goodbye to his relationship with heroin. He used the name Angie to represent the drug because a sing serenading heroin was not likely going to be commercially successful. So when he writes, "With no lovin' in our souls, And no money in our coats" he was talking about how heroin drained him of feeling love and made him numb, and broke.

I’ve always read so much into this haunting song, I just see a couple who has struggled together and tried so hard but they’re not making it, they’re hungry, they’ve had big set backs, he loves her and is feeling like a loser cause he can’t support her, he knows she deserves better and probably wants her to go on home to her parents so she’ll be safe, and they can’t say they never tried.
"HE" Died, .... listen again from that 'understanding', and ' perspective' ... that he's singing it from his pain that he, "left" her, (he died... ) great, and beautiful song...
as a youngster..riding my bike..i crested a hill..overlooking a great scene...and this song came on..and i understood life...believe it or not...was a great moment..learning to be true and sincere:)
Did you ever hear a singer whisper the lines before? I hadn’t. He sings, “Let me whisper in your ear.” Then he whispers, “Angie, Angie. Ain’t it time we said good-bye.” That’s what sounds so different.
Ths song was on an album called goats head soup.
Tumbling dice is very good by rolling stones
They were good at rocking out . Their slow songs are also great .
I was so glad this song came out during my high school years! My bf sang it to me all the time 💓

In 1973 I was 12 years old and I remember my dad which was over 60, didn't understand english and have no idea who the Rolling Stones were but loved this song. To be fair, my dad loved good music no matter from where it came
Such a great song
Loved that song! But we use to room in a house with five others and for laughs when I would be in the john taking a dump I would sing Angie with a emphasis on the push of the notes! Thanks for the memories!
SISTER MORPHINE, all versions.
I have always wondered the "ghost vocals" going on the backround. I later learned that it is the guide vocal track, meaning it contains the melody lines but not necessarily the proper lyrics, that has leaked to actual vocal part. They decided to leave the cut be as it turned out.
Just one more song that shows they can do anything. #1 forever.
Wild Horses is another great soulful Mick song that showcases his voice well. Always loved that song.
All Down The Line, Rocks Off and Happy next!

Forgot how sad and beautiful this song was. Great musicians.
Paint it black is one of my favorites and wild horses besides Sympathy for the devil . But you can't go wrong with the stones .I love the version of beast of burden with Bette Midler .
