'How terrible a person am I?' I'm glad Percy's feeling at least a /little/ guilty about giving a SPEAKING SWORD to Grog. Poor old Grog, he's gonna check all his weapons from now on lol
Also, I noticed earlier, but I like that Liam's keeping with the raven-themed shirts. I'm curious to see how long he can go - surely the average person owns zero raven shirts? He's already two above average!
Percy: "Kevdak... er, Zanror... I'm sorry, you all look vaguely the same to me, I'm so sorry." Everyone: "Oooooooooh!!!" Vax: "Except for this one" /points at Grog/ Percy: "No, he's got the beard. And the ability to kill me in my sleep." Another swift recovery by Percy... :)
@@nidohogg4783 Thanks lol :) I made so many comments on Critical Role when I was binging and now I've gotten discussion replies on a few of them recently and people are like debating things and I'm like "I have no idea what this was even about anymore" haha. Also I didn't realize my comment was doing so well on likes! Anyways maybe one of these days I'll get back to watching CritRole; I never did finish the first campaign. The funny thing about Napoleon is that in real life he was 5'5" or 5'6", meaning he was quite tall for his time period. However, having been born on Corsica, and just weeks after it was annexed by France, he was treated as an outsider and foreigner by his fellow soldiers, in no small part due to his thick Corsica accent. So yes, Napoleon could be said as having a "Little Man" complex, just not in a literal sense.
Mercer the merciful... I would've taken the opportunity to turn the blade as deep and as hard as I possibly could, queue all the violins in the London Orchestra's worth, on the hope that this would make Vox Machina act a little bit less like Murder Hobos in the future. I'd milk it for at least half an hour... child crying on the ashes of his parents, whole village in mourning, grandmother suffering an incurable stroke after getting the news... VM could really use a bit of shaming
Jyygylag It didn’t have be a 30 minute production, but I probably would have had him say “They were on the other side of the square. I don’t know what happened but I saw an explosion. Are they.. are they still alive?”. I think the realization they had killed his parents and then resurrected a now orphaned child is enough of a lesson. They could give him some gold and leave him with an official - it doesn’t have to be a huge production. They do walk the line a bit but this the first time one of them blatantly shrugged off the value of an innocent bystander.

Aidan Wedgbury I am so sorry about your group, that just seems like toxic playing then dynamic. Do you guys have fun with it? That’s the most important thing at the end of the day
I wish so, too. Me and the bard come up with clever but risky solutions to things and then get lectured by another party member even if it went perfectly well. Every session.

I love watching Matt's reaction during the Pike and Scanlan scene. I'm just so impressed by their improv and ability as actors. That they can make even the DM, who created the world, nearly cry with laughter is so incredible. Like, Matt has chuckled and laughed before at some good in-character moments (a lot of Scanlan stuff), but this was really special. Sam and Ashley are such a good comedy duo.
1:16:55 Vex: You're pretty heavy. Vax: I'm lighter than you. Vex: *horrified gasp* Matt: *surprised Pikachu face* Travis: Oh Jesus God... Vex: That's nothing to brag about, Scrawny! Vax: Look at my constitution! It's very low... Vex: Minus two! (Or "Mine is too!" Idk they both make sense) Vax: Oh, twins! That entire exchange is absolute gold. 💀
Truly, sometimes the brooding rogue gets a little tiresome, but then the happy-go-lucky greedy Ranger that wants to be like her big brother (the roguey parts, not the broody parts) alleviates the depression by either doing something rogue-ish better than him, or way, way worse than him!
Seriously, when he calls apart.. OH MY GOD TOO BAD VICTOR DIDNT SURVIVE THE VECNA ATTACK HE HE WENT OUT A HERO THOUGH!!! Oh my God if they ever get out of this stuff Vax should MAKE HIM THE CHAMPION 😜😜😜😜😜😂
The subtitles are a life saver and greatly appreciated. Thank you to whichever person put their time into them. Nonetheless, I can't help but desperately want captions of the perfect quiet quips between percy and keyleth's side conversations. Underated and one of my favourite friend-ships.
and even though they just had an encounter with an evil artifact that almost killed a party member she almost instantly allowed something uknown to gain direct access to her brain. IQ 0
@@leahsander5490 I totally agree. But Keyleth has always been the one to have negative opinions of "bargains" other team members have had with weird artifacts. Percy with his gun, Grog with his sword. So her willingness to leap at that temptation when it's her turn is kind of hypocritic.
Two things I took away from the infamous Scanlan/Pike scene. -While at this point Sam is a proved RPer, I barely had any notice how good Ashley was...until now. With her gone for work so much, she barely got the time to do anything or grow Pike. This however....holy shitballs on a bagel, she just owned this scene AND destroyed everyone else not named Matt. Talisen almost died there! The woman nearly murdered him! He looked like he was having a heart attack, he was laughing so hard. -Matt Godsdamned Mercer. How in the Nine Hells he was able to keep control of himself and manage the group so they don't talk or laugh too loud over that scene I will never know. I could see him getting redder by the second trying not to burst out laughing, but he kept his cool and warned the others to keep it down so we could hear every awkward sentence. It was more impressive than the 3,817 voices he has invented for characters.
Seriously, every time Matt does a kid's voice for an NPC, I die inside. He murders me with the cute. When Matt characterises kids, I just want to curl up in a ball and cry because it's so heartwarming. ALL THE FEELS.
I love how all the actors just are their characters at this point. Scanlan asks Pike to marry him: Pike gets flustered Keyleth doesn't know what to do with herself Vex's jaw drops Vax facepalms Grog laughs And Percy is just utterly unimpressed.
I love that the "Forearms like Popeye." "Years of use." exchange registered with the guys INSTANTLY and you can see the realization spread through the ladies five seconds later.

I love that the underlying joke the *entire* episode is mocking the idea of "At dawn, we plan!" only to LITERALLY plan at dawn. Laura calling it out was amazing!
The fun part of a DM is if you remember something mid-way through something. You can make some funny moments of stupidity. Ex: I was fumbling over what distance from town my players were gonna go. I said 5 miles as a guard giving them the job. Then we realized they should be more like 20 miles out of town. So it turned into a dumb guard that doesn't know distance

For those interested in Scanlan's letter to Pike.... Dearest Pike, My entire life, I've been half a man. Not in stature, nor confidence, nor certainly not in reputation, but you see, even though my heart has pumped blood for these 69 years, it has done so only as half a heart. The moment I first saw you was not a choir of angels singing, nor silly butterflies fluttering in my chest. No, the moment I met Pike Trickfoot the moment I met Pike Trickfoot was the tragic moment I realized that my heart, my soul, would be forever incomplete without you. For years, I've strived to mend to mend my incomplete heart. To join it with yours and find true bliss at your side. Though it may not have seemed so, everything I've done these past years has been to impress you, please you, protect you. I knew early on it was a futile effort, I'm not stupid. The entire world may be mad, but that doesn't nullify the laws of reality, one law being that you are, and will always be, too good for a poor penny-singer like Scanlan Shorthalt. But even though I would not win you, your love, I could never stop trying. Does the sun stop rising when the clouds blot it out? No. Like me, it knows its purpose. To illuminate the world so that mortals can witness such beauty as you. But now, as the sun sets on my life, I have discovered something new. I have a daughter whose heart beats my blood and whose life is my own. And she, unlike her father, can be good and right and one day worthy of your love, which is why, on my deathbed, I leave her to you. Don't you see? This whole time I thought I was chasing a lover, but instead, I have been chasing a mother for my child. You, Pike Trickfoot, are the savior to Kaylie that I could never be. Your wisdom and honor and goodness can give her the chance at redemption that I never had. Pike, take my daughter as your own, show her the light of Sarenrae. Guide her to be a kind-hearted gnome. Teach her to be everything her father was not. That way, in death, my heart will be complete. And it will beat inside Kaylie, by your side, like I always dreamed it would. With love and respect, Burt Reynolds, Esquire.
I L-O-V-E LOVE Willhand. Also, it's taken me multiple episodes to realize this, but... When Vex was dead, Vax said "Take me instead". He was saying as in "take my life instead", but the Raven Queen took it differently. She didn't take his life, but instead took _him_ as her champion. Basically, I knew all of this info already separately, but piecing them together gives a more impactful picture.
Good observation there :) And it ties into how Vax wears the armor of the Raven Queen's champion as his Vestige of Divergence, as well as what else is to come for him, and also shows Matt's amazing skills as a DM and storybuilder!
That may be the case, but the 4th wall breaks add to the dynamic. Yet I haven't watched campaign 2 yet, but I 3xpect Tharzidun to be a major 4th breaker given his nature as a chaotic evil god.
Oh god. I can't stop watching these. It's been almost a month since I started. I watch it at work, I watch it every morning while I have breakfast, I watch it before sleep, I watch it when I *should* sleep instead. And there are still freaking 3 years of catching up. You're averaging about what I did when I was binging to catch up back in the day (75 eps in 3 weeks), while the show is only 4-5 eps a month at most, so you'll be caught up before you know it. If it makes you feel any better, those of us who are caught up are facing the drought of the holiday breaks fast approaching (Thanksgiving week in late November, followed by 3 weeks from mid-December to early January), while you'll most likely still have new material to watch.
@@Aetheria60 hey thanks, now I kinda know how long until I catch up. That whole exchange was absolutely brilliant. I watched three times each time watching a different group react. The other cast members reactions are often better than the main players !!
Hello! I somehow (due to Smosh) found Critical Role sometime this spring right as quarantine started, and I haven't been able to stop watching. I finally caught up to the latest episode of campaign two, so now I'm making my way through this one! Happy watching!
man.. I saw this comment before that part and I though "okay, that sounds like Scanlan, that's normal". How shocked I was when it finally came up hahaha
Scanlan is honestly the most insightful and clever character remaining in the cast, and the player is probably the best of making full use of his character as well. He jokes a lot, but he really does deserve to be the leader. And that confession on killing the civilians- he's the first person to actually self reflect on his own actions
With Tibs gone, I think you're quite right. I think Grog would also be a really clever character if his intelligence wasn't so shit, considering how smart Travis seems to be.
FoolishAnonymous I kind of want Grog to go down in battle, cause I really want Travis to play a smart character. When he gets the chance to play "battle smartened" grog its so fucking compelling
Keyleth: "Step forward." Golem: goes to do that, naturally being intimidating Also Golem: immediately falls flat on its face Vex, while laughing: "He looked like a *moron* "
I love how outraged the party got when the other tribe announces they're abandoning the fight that Vox Machina themselves agreed they would also abandon, to the point where Vox Machina just kind of gives up on their plan to run. It's like Zanror and Ivon set the whole thing up to guilt them into staying. :-)
I think the plan was to run if they couldn't convince Zanror to delay the attack and give them a little more time to plan something, which they managed to do.
@@ajerqureshi6411 No, the party's plan was to abandon the Herd. Worse than that, it was to make the Herd think they'd help, not show up, and hope the Herd gets wiped out. A really low, underhanded move. Thus Grog's earlier "before you feel bad, these people are murderers, child killers, and rapists -- the worst of the lot." It was honestly kind of amazing how suddenly the party were the cowardly traitors, and this NPC Herd were the ones risking their lives to take down a dragon.
Okay, that Scanlan and Pike interaction was amazing, and not even for the belly full of laughs it gave me. It really felt like it was PIKE and SCANLAN talking, not Sam snd Ashley. And it makes it better that Scanlan was being 100% real and honest during that conversation, from babbling incoherently, to flustered embarrassment, to confused hair pulling, that was probably the best little segment in the entire episode. But man, poor Scanlan. Pike really put the poir Gnome on a rollercoaster there. X,D
I loved that Sam was sitting there saying, “Don’t we have a way to detect magical items?”, looking at Marisha, clearly remembering the Hunk of Quall, and absolutely refusing to say anything more. He was definitely enjoying watching the struggle!
Percy: “I could try MY Dispel Magic spell” Scanlan: “What’s that?” Percy: “It’s a bullet. I shoot it until it doesn’t work anymore” I swear, Percy is so underrated
Oh, both Percy and Taliesin have a small but dedicated army of followers. (I am one of them) (this is also a particularly funny quote in light of a recent C3 event on which I will not elaborate!)
Short & to the point, Percy speaks when it matters. One of my favorite characters. His main story starts at the very beginning, but he remains and is still consistently active throughout the entire campaign.
How is Percy underrated when he’s one of the most popular characters in C1? On reddit posts about fave characters, it’s usually a toss-up between him, Grog, and Scanlan. On AO3, he’s the most popular C1 character (number of stories he’s tagged in). And he’s one-half of what is frequently cited as the best CR couple (Perc’ahlia).
I really appreciate the fact that they had to manually figure out how to control the golem. It's kinda refreshing to see that when most times attuning to an object will just tell you most of how it works, which is far from immersive
The banter between the members of Vox Machina is just superbly amusing this episode. Particularly the twins steal the spotlight, so natural, you'd think Liam and Laura are actually brother and sister. Loving the RP.
When you rp a campaign for so long it becomes very real. I bet even out of game they feel somewhat like brother and sister. The connections that can me made through dnd are beautiful
@@carlycchapmanThat's hilarious and adorable. I've only witnessed it in one clip and trying to save the rest for when I'm actually on campaign 2. Looking forward to it!
3:01:20 The Scanlan and Pike conversation that nearly killed me XD That and Taliesin build-up reaction from wide eyes to small chuckle to complete destruction of body and soul.
Matt: FWOOOOSH! You guys watch as a jet of flame jettisons out from the staircase... Percy: I want to live here. Keyleth: Who *is* this guy? Percy: I don't know, but I suddenly like him. Keyleth: You scare me... I love them both so much :) And I know it's weird but I _do_ think Percy and Keyleth would make an adorable couple.
Percy: Double-check the bedroom for safes or things behind paintings or maybe something-- Vex: I'm sorry, who's talking, who is this? Percy: It's the voice of reason coming from downstairs. Vax: Is it though? Is it really? Percy: I know, I'm just as depressed that it is as you are!
Some people house-rule Intimidation as being either Charisma OR Strength based on how the attempt is being made. Honestly surprised that Mercer didn't use that.
Shadowrun is a tabletop RPG that allows either of those stats, as there are different ways to intimidate either through words or presence. I use either in my home game too for when the muscles of the team want to use them to get a point across
Django Cribbs in the phb, there is a section that says that DM’s have the discretion to mix and match ability scores. One of the examples is strength intimidation checks. Another example given is a constitution athletics check.
I know right he can’t be too emo around his sister, she knows him too well. Idk if Liam consciously plays him differently when he’s just interacting with Vex, or if it just comes naturally without second thought, but it’s so wholesome either way
i love how Scan brings the wrong twin, and just everybody having all those unique interactions is always fun to watch. Also what happened to the Westrunn branch of The Clasp?
That was the single best most horribly handled trainwreck of a conversation between Pike and Scanlan i have ever heard in my entire life, i watched it like 300 times, not kidding, holy shit
Matt fuckin hands them a small army of barbarians, gives them the complete and total element of surprise, and they’re still like “nah, this isn’t the best opportunity we’ll have to kill one of the dragons. Let’s wait till later when it’s just the 7 of us and we happen to be yet slightly stronger than we currently are. That’ll totally go better!!”
YES thank you! Not only that but 1 scene earlier Matt introduces the little old gnome having 2 full barrels of pure potato moonshine they could use as a bomb to soften it up, they could carve the earth to make a trench to surprise the dragon and were even given a golem to soak damage and they still plan on leaving. They were given SO much to make a killer plan.
I know, it's impossibly frustrating. They're talking about abandoning the city to a DRAGON and not taking advantage of the _best. possible. conditions._ to fight a dragon in. A dragon they have to fight anyway. Why Liam in particular was so adamant they don't deal with the threat right away when they had the high ground is too bizarre for me to comprehend.
@@Lucifronz Matt did spend a lot of effort into making these dragons really terrifying. It does make sense for them to be afraid in character, even if they have the best possible chances at this moment.
Johnny Five No way, I love watching their reactions way too much XD For me, half of the fun is watching them react to Matt's narration and other people's roleplaying. For example, I love how much Travis loves Sam's improv songs.
True. And now I want a scene where Grog picks up both Pike and Scanlan while they're running away and while they're hanging under his arms they just start an awkward conversation about their relationship.
from a story standpoint they kinda are. Matt mentioned during the Briarwood Arc, when Pikes "Celestial Form" was introduced, that during childhood Grog carried Pike on his shoulders and knew how much she weighted. I'm disappointed she gets rewarded for being a jerk player. It's their game, their friendship. They certainly don't need my approval, but I feel nothing but contempt for Vex. I don't hate Laura, but I absolutely loathe players who do what she did. It took awhile, but I learned I don't have to put up with it in games I play. If I have to quit a game because of it I will. I've done so.
@@GeraldKatzI understand what you mean and I think the same, but in this specific case it is a bit different since Chadwick’s character was meant to be a one shot character who wasn’t meant to be a reoccurring character. And Idk why but I have a feeling that Matt put the broom there on purpose so that Laura will stop trying to re-enchante the carpet
They don't have a budding relationship (at this point in the story). Its on hold- Vax leaving kinda put their relationship on ice (notice how Keyleth all but ignores Vax now). It'll obviously reignite (as we heard from liam saying Vax is falling more for her because of those guys she murdered with lava).
Funny enough...My first successful DnD character also had a funny incident with a key, just like Pike here. It was his first real dungeon crawl, and he had just helped dispatch a skeleton with a flying kick. He held the key in his hand. Another member of the party asked him to open the door. So he opened the door. With a flying kick. And kept that key on him for the entire rest of the campaign.

'How terrible a person am I?'
I'm glad Percy's feeling at least a /little/ guilty about giving a SPEAKING SWORD to Grog. Poor old Grog, he's gonna check all his weapons from now on lol
Also, I noticed earlier, but I like that Liam's keeping with the raven-themed shirts. I'm curious to see how long he can go - surely the average person owns zero raven shirts? He's already two above average!
Grog's speech about having no qualms leaving the Herd to die on a foolish dragon-killing expedition was... quite something.
Vax using his stealthy abilities to 'nope' out of awkward social things is a big ol' mood
Taliesin's edgelord-y indignation over someone else coming up with a "robot" before he did just made my day.
Percy: "Kevdak... er, Zanror... I'm sorry, you all look vaguely the same to me, I'm so sorry."
Everyone: "Oooooooooh!!!"
Vax: "Except for this one" /points at Grog/
Percy: "No, he's got the beard. And the ability to kill me in my sleep."

Most underrated joke this session:
Scanlan: "I DO have a Napoleon complex!"
Percy: "Oh yes I've seen it, it's huge."
And cube shaped!
For the first time, I caught Grog saying Napoléon was à terrible elf from the West.
Kaarel Nõmmela I thought he said “cube”
Steve Napoleon?
The funny thing about Napoleon is that in real life he was 5'5" or 5'6", meaning he was quite tall for his time period. However, having been born on Corsica, and just weeks after it was annexed by France, he was treated as an outsider and foreigner by his fellow soldiers, in no small part due to his thick Corsica accent. So yes, Napoleon could be said as having a "Little Man" complex, just not in a literal sense.

Sassy TheSpear No they aren't. They aren't related but they do share a birthday. So during character creation they decided to make themselves twins.
I sometimes either forget that twins are supposed to look alike, or that Liam and Laura don't actually look that much alike.
Not all twins look alike. There are two types of twins, identical (look alike) and fraternal (don't look alike but share the same DNA). Laura and Liam are not actually related though.
Fraternal/Sororal twins don't actually "share DNA" they are just normal siblings who share a womb.

It's great to see more roleplaying from Ashley, especially since she's often absent from the show. Really wish Pike could stay somewhat permanently.
I love that Percy's comment about the trapped house is "I want to live here."
I know an elderly Orc lord in Jrusar that he'd get along with famously in that regard.
He'd be safe from, say, necromancers breaking in to slaughter his family.
Seriously, every time Matt does a kid's voice for an NPC, I die inside. He murders me with the cute. When Matt characterises kids, I just want to curl up in a ball and cry because it's so heartwarming.

Scanlan asks Pike to marry him:
Pike gets flustered
Keyleth doesn't know what to do with herself
Vex's jaw drops
Vax facepalms
Grog laughs
And Percy is just utterly unimpressed.
I love that the "Forearms like Popeye." "Years of use." exchange registered with the guys INSTANTLY and you can see the realization spread through the ladies five seconds later.

For those interested in Scanlan's letter to Pike....
Dearest Pike,
My entire life, I've been half a man.
With love and respect,

Ashley is so adorable.
I'm glad when she skype's in from New York, but she's so much more fun when she's actually there.
Firstly, I love all the passive aggressive banter between Vax and Vex in this episode.
Secondly, I feel a huge opportunity was missed while Percy was under the effects of the Slow spell. Someone really should've asked him to recite his full name at that time.
There was a huge missed opportunity for Ashley, as well. After Scanlon's out of nowhere proposal, she didn't say, "I walk away."
So true

Liam’s reaction whenever Matt does the “cork noise” makes me so happy.
Scanlan is honestly the most insightful and clever character remaining in the cast, and the player is probably the best of making full use of his character as well. He jokes a lot, but he really does deserve to be the leader.
And that confession on killing the civilians- he's the first person to actually self reflect on his own actions
Burt "Scanlan" Reynolds is the real MVP
With Tibs gone, I think you're quite right. I think Grog would also be a really clever character if his intelligence wasn't so shit, considering how smart Travis seems to be.
FoolishAnonymous I kind of want Grog to go down in battle, cause I really want Travis to play a smart character. When he gets the chance to play "battle smartened" grog its so fucking compelling
Timestamp for the confession?
:)
Keyleth: "Step forward."
Golem: goes to do that, naturally being intimidating
Also Golem: immediately falls flat on its face
Vex, while laughing: "He looked like a *moron* "
I love how outraged the party got when the other tribe announces they're abandoning the fight that Vox Machina themselves agreed they would also abandon, to the point where Vox Machina just kind of gives up on their plan to run. It's like Zanror and Ivon set the whole thing up to guilt them into staying. :-)
I think the plan was to run if they couldn't convince Zanror to delay the attack and give them a little more time to plan something, which they managed to do.
Its like Matt is fucking with their heads... jeez... that was amazing
Vox Machina’s plan was mainly to delay the attack and be better prepared for it, not straight up abandon it.
Brilliant example of railroading without usurping player agency.
"I want to say if we get 'railroaded', but I don't know what that is."
The 4th wall trembles before the power of Vax'ildan.
and in campaign 3 they....
...kill the 4th wall. like literally. bloody mimics.
It's hilarious that they entirely forgot the Hunk of Quall in Quall's actual house.
I loved that Sam was sitting there saying, “Don’t we have a way to detect magical items?”, looking at Marisha, clearly remembering the Hunk of Quall, and absolutely refusing to say anything more. He was definitely enjoying watching the struggle!
18:26
I have the strange mental image of Grog saying "We're under new management now" and Scanlan just going "Yeah someone came down from corporate"
Roleplay wise this was probably the best episode so far. Even with no combat, D&D can still be a lot of fun, as this episode demonstrated.
Percy: “I could try MY Dispel Magic spell”
Scanlan: “What’s that?”
Percy: “It’s a bullet. I shoot it until it doesn’t work anymore”
I swear, Percy is so underrated
Oh, both Percy and Taliesin have a small but dedicated army of followers. (I am one of them)
(this is also a particularly funny quote in light of a recent C3 event on which I will not elaborate!)
Short & to the point, Percy speaks when it matters. One of my favorite characters. His main story starts at the very beginning, but he remains and is still consistently active throughout the entire campaign.
Timestamp pls?
How is Percy underrated when he’s one of the most popular characters in C1? On reddit posts about fave characters, it’s usually a toss-up between him, Grog, and Scanlan. On AO3, he’s the most popular C1 character (number of stories he’s tagged in). And he’s one-half of what is frequently cited as the best CR couple (Perc’ahlia).
That guy's never going to get his Golem back is he?
Almost certainly not. Though technically he never requested the golem.
I doubt it
@J B keep watching for Doty…
I’m on my first watch through, and my guess? They end up using the golem until it breaks, then return the circlet after
@@Reblwitoutacause that's my guess too, that it gets broken in the dragon fight
I love how Laura has to giggle when Liam says "I'm coming" around 3 hours in haha
+Veloziraptor111 when i was still new to this series i thought they were
+BillyBobJoeJonson They are. Remember there are no Liam and Laura when they roleplay :P
When you rp a campaign for so long it becomes very real. I bet even out of game they feel somewhat like brother and sister. The connections that can me made through dnd are beautiful
Yeah it was awesome until Taliesin started being a jackass and metagaming. He has aways been annoying but this episode was the worst damn.
Kikoberserk He actually says, they can hear the twins bickering downstairs and that's why he communicates.
I love Scanlan and Vax's interactions, they happen rarely but are honestly kind of the heart of the series
Liam and Sam are besties and it shows so strong in campaign 2. Really miss that in 1 and 3, but moments like these are a treasure for that reason ❤️

Taliesin and Marisha always seem to have a good chemistry at the table
Literally, they have more chemistry than her and Vax but I adore Percy with Vex
2:53:06 Matt's faces during Scanlan's proposal are... legendary
Grog should seriously have a higher intimidation bonus. For a huge, well armed goliath (who comes up with some great lines) he fails way too often.
That's because intimidating requires charisma
Some people house-rule Intimidation as being either Charisma OR Strength based on how the attempt is being made. Honestly surprised that Mercer didn't use that.
Shadowrun is a tabletop RPG that allows either of those stats, as there are different ways to intimidate either through words or presence. I use either in my home game too for when the muscles of the team want to use them to get a point across
Django Cribbs in the phb, there is a section that says that DM’s have the discretion to mix and match ability scores. One of the examples is strength intimidation checks. Another example given is a constitution athletics check.
Hulk no charisma high strength, intimidation out the ass
Vex's bickering casting away Vax's angst is everything I needed
I know right he can’t be too emo around his sister, she knows him too well.
Idk if Liam consciously plays him differently when he’s just interacting with Vex, or if it just comes naturally without second thought, but it’s so wholesome either way
"I gotta protect you because you protected me."
That explains everything going forward in this campaign.
And in the next one.
i love how Scan brings the wrong twin, and just everybody having all those unique interactions is always fun to watch. Also what happened to the Westrunn branch of The Clasp?
That's a good question. Wonder whether or not The Clasp would have had connections with the Herd...
That was the single best most horribly handled trainwreck of a conversation between Pike and Scanlan i have ever heard in my entire life, i watched it like 300 times, not kidding, holy shit
Time stamp - 5 years too late...
Especially since they are now going back on their word since last episode they told the herd they would fight with them...
Lsucu a poor decision. Scanlan was so right. Not only an army but a giant robot also! Such a great opportunity...
I have so much love for this show it's insane. It's 3+ hours of entertainment a week and I still can't get enough. Fucking love it.
Me too and it works great as a podcast too if your at work and want the hours to go down or at school.
Johnny Five No way, I love watching their reactions way too much XD For me, half of the fun is watching them react to Matt's narration and other people's roleplaying. For example, I love how much Travis loves Sam's improv songs.
AnkokuEvangeline
That's cool I am just saying that is what I do.
Pike and Grog's interactions are too cute I can't TAKE IT!
True. And now I want a scene where Grog picks up both Pike and Scanlan while they're running away and while they're hanging under his arms they just start an awkward conversation about their relationship.
The way I see it grog and pike are basically brother and sister
the way i see it grog and pike are like bastion and ganymede from Overwatch
from a story standpoint they kinda are. Matt mentioned during the Briarwood Arc, when Pikes "Celestial Form" was introduced, that during childhood Grog carried Pike on his shoulders and knew how much she weighted. And many a times has there been "childhood friend" etc etc. so, there about as close as brother and sister one can get without being blood related (imo) and if it ever came down to it, imo, if they were forced to choose between VM or the other, im 99.8% certain they'd choose the other
but grog and scanlan and Grog are the funniest
First thing that came to mind upon seeing the broom is: " I hope that Chris Chadwick gets invited again and steals the broom back"
I'm disappointed she gets rewarded for being a jerk player.
2:46:08
Mercer thinking "how many times do I have to nudge you towards Ank'Harel?"
I'm crying at Pike & Scanlan's conversation omg
I almost laughed so hard I threw up jfc
just
"Thank you for clarifying???" I DIED.
Just noticed that Vex has started calling Keyleth Kiki. Really nice character detail as Vex accepts Keyleth and Vax's budding relationship.
I swear the Pike/Scanlan interactions this episode have been some of my favourite Crit Role moments ever. SO GOOD.
