With an uneasy agreement struck between Kima and Clarota, Vox Machina quietly begin a search of Emberhold. Lady Kima means to strike a blow against their unseen enemy by cutting off the head of K’Varn’s military forces. The party battles their way through the fortress, and with the help of some quick thinking from Tiberius, they manage to gain the upper hand against the Duergar King, Murghol, and Ulara, his queen. The dwarven King is defeated, but victory comes at a price…

They are all amazing, but lets consider for a moment everything Matt was doing. He was: Keeping track of the central throughline story, playing clarota, playing lady kima, playing grog, keeping track of damage and dice for like 20 Duergars, the king, the queen, another mindflay, plus making up dialogue and color commentary for ALL of them on every attack, helping and instructing all the adventurers with what and how many etc dice they needed etc, all while anywhere from 1 to 7 of them are hurling questions at him, adjusting and revealing the map, considering at every move how and IF the actions can take place. All on a incredibly compelling story that HE wrote. I mean, holy cow! That was just incredible. Plus, its worth mentioning he started out the 4 hour session saying it had already been a long day. Thats some amazing DMing.

Through all the episodes I’m watching through, this is the first one you can clearly see Matt’s patience wearing thin between both the shenanigans, the ooc behaviors, and the minimal player accountability where skills/spell order/actions and logistics are concerned. He really was having a rough day, kudos to the man choosing to stick it out even through his clear frustrations.
laura was driving me nuts in this one, like how she kept repeating "we should all go to the second floor now," when everyone said lets finish this floor first, and so she said it again two more times and was like "i'm gonna take everyone and move up the staircase now," and immediately after she does that they discover the magic lab with the mage and she has to come all the way back down. it's the same thing as when her and keylith decided even though the party voted against something they were just gonna do it anyways. i think matt really gets annoyed at how she only remembers hunters mark after she already attacked, every single time. for such a smart person she really makes dumb decisions a lot!

2:22:22 Its was at this moment that I saw the Twitch stream of Critical Role in the most viewers section on the Twitch website. I decided (on a whim) to check what the live stream of some D&D game was doing in the most popular section of Twitch. Fast forward two and a half years later and the campaign of Vox Machina has ended, and starting today a new campaign will begin. This timestap marked my introduction to Critical Role, and I have been an avid fan ever since.
This show is a good portion of the reason I made it through college. It was the one thing I actually looked forward to every week for three years.

I only discovered them a year ago, I watched the oneshot Matt did with Vin Diesel, and one thing lead to another. I started with campaign two and I'm caught up now. With the quarantine, I've now started campaign one.
May 31st 2018 was the day I started watching campaign 2 of Critical Role. Yesterday I watched episode 100, and in between episodes decided to go back to where it all began. Lovely that we're both here, isn't it? ^-^

Matt's knowledge of this game is very impressive. It seems he knows about 99.9% of everyone's abilities.
Jacob Schings With that many players, its smart to. I have a group of 6, and sort of knowing what they can do helps me prepare to efficiently get through big combats.
He designed Percy's class, so he prob knows it like the back of his hand and he's been playing since High school. Mercer is just amazing, he's a genius.
actually no , grog is a path of beserker barbarian so he cant be charmed while rage like the queen did to him, sneak atack dont need to be close to do with alies with 5 feets of a enemy(but in pathfinder is so i undestand the error), and evasion is to every dex save ( but vax error that dont read his skills ) ,and with this changes the queen probably will be death and not carry grog with her, but matt's still a great DM
Also, Light isn't a concentration spell. Dancing Lights is, but Light is just a flat 1 hour duration.
One thing Matt messed up on though was when the queen used dimension door to escape with grog you can only use dimension door with somebody of same size or smaller, not larger like grog is.

I think at this time the cast still used alignment charts so it was a warning that it may shift if she continued. I personally think alignments are bullshit and know that the cast doesn’t use them anymore either

@@arcticfoxinsox I started C2 first, and am working my way through C1 now. C2 is definitely a bit more 'edgy' but I think it was their attempt to tell a more serious story vs. a roaming band of goofballs (which they still are). I LOVED C2, and IMO each campaign should feel different from the last.. and I think they pull it off spectacularly.
@@arcticfoxinsox I also agree with Zolis, Vox Machina are great but Mighty Nein are spectacular, such rich storytelling with a complex network of relationships and consequences that dovetail into a beautiful narrative of love and loss. It’s the drama of mid-late VM but right from episode 1.
Its so weird to watch the whole 2nd season, come back to the first and see that there was a time when someone saying "making my way" didnt cause either one or all cast members to immediately go 🎶makin my way🎶

This is my first time watching anything of critical role, so I've only just started this campaign and it will never stop bewildering me how Matt can keep track of absolutely everything within these sessions like it is insane-
Oh I am on my first watchthrough, too! It's incredible, he is also great at interacting with the players and accommodating them at the same time. I don't know much about DnD but he seems to be amazing at what he does. And also the players and their creativity and the pure fun and joy they have just makes this even more enjoyable.
