A HARD landing is something completely different from this one, as this was among the softest I've seen wit a 747. You probably meant DIFFICULT rather than hard.

It amazes me that these planes can do barrel rolls in the air and 180 drifts on the runway also. Awesome, and no one was injured. Great job too the crew. I wonder how confident they were at the time for there safety though. ????
Wow! Excellent video. Amazing how such a huge jet can be blown around by those winds! I love the Boeing 747 my favourite airplane. I have also been flying to Salzburg airport many times when I visit Austria :)
I fully agree! It is my favorite airplane as well. That is why it is such a shame that many airlines are replacing them with larger aircraft.

Very impressive videography, only surpassed by extreme pilot skills. I'd imagine this approach requires a demanding qualification, particularly so when piloting the 747. To all those commenting how easy it is to land the 747, let alone stabilize the beast in a very short final: Go eat your coco pops, then, after you've grown up, come back in 40 years and share your experience with all of us all about how you achieved captaincy.

WE NEED THIS TYPE OF RUNWAY IN KERALA. KARIPOOR AIRPORT. TABLETOP RUNWAY IS NOT SAFE. WIND FROM THE REAR OF THE AIRCRAFT PUSHES THE AIRCRAFT. PLUS KINETIC FORCE. HERE IN THIS VIDEO. AIRCRAFT CLIMBING THE SLOPE. WEIGHT OF THE AIRCRAFT. TARE THE KINETIC FORCE. HEAVY WIND IS ALSO PRESENT. BUT AIRCRAFT SAFE LANDING.

It’s crazy huh, wind like that blows us like a little, a Boeing 747 we can’t even lift and it’s probably like one of the heaviest things in the world it literally gets destroyed by wind it’s crazy

8Weather vaning its best. Max demonstrated xwind land 35 knots. Boeing Manuel for liability’s.i landed a 747 in 50 knot direct cross wind but blew 2 tires. One of the few times I was shaking. 16000 hours in B747 100,200,300,400.spread out on these fine machines.i remember ferrying a empty 400 from Jfk to a Air Force base and it was a cold December day in new York the visit was pegged out. The act controller came on said hay Connie that 400 is a fine machine can you slow up your climb.i was working the radios the fo was flying. I said what do you show us at he 14000 feet a minute I said we can do 13000 for you he laughed and said merry Christmas and I said and a happy new year

Not much crosswind, but the pilot once again did not hold aileron into the wind once on the ground. This keeps the upwind wing lower and prevents all that swerving. I see this all the time, someone did not learn basic landing technique.

not anymore sadly, as Transaero ceased operations some years ago and no other carrier is flying any 74's to SZG anymore. However, the airport is capable of handling planes up to the size of b748.
Back then yes. Every Saturday as a Connection to Moskau. Together with IL-96, Tu154 and all those other beautis. Sadly no longer

Looks like the “lean” was caused by an imbalance of reverse thrust
I don't believe that. I think there was one heavy gust, which pushed the wing up and "weatherveined" the aircraft nose into the wind.

All I know is that thing had very little room for error once it committed downward and banked because if a large gust of wind suddenly stops, the overcorrection is gnalry.

Cinncanatti to Germany flight going thru indiapolis center female controller we checked on at fl330 and she said roger. 30 seconds later she said contact the next controller and she said hay connieit been short but sweet and I said yes it has it’s as wide as a cheese role.even the delta boys laughed

Yep, that's the difference between the definitions of a storm in Europe and the US: In Europe 'storm' is usually meant to describe a windstorm, where 'storm' in the US is usually preceeded by a word stating the kind of storm.
I can hardly call this a storm though... I expected far more swaying and a plane that is hard to control. This looks like just some strong crosswind landing.
