    I don't know how I missed this video. Of course, Charles made so many...I'm sure there are many others I have not viewed.
    Never in a million years would I have thought to slightly mash those potatoes while frying. I have to try that. And I do like potatoes with the skins on. Great idea. Jesus bless.

    Now that's a great idea for the tiny ones! I grew potatoes for the first time this year. They did pretty good but based on what I paid for seed potatoes from Baker Creek I just broke even. The advantage was I knew I had good, healthy, chemical free taders! I roasted most of my little ones in the oven. Washed them really good then rubbed them down with oil, seasoning salt, pepper, garlic, dried parsley and parmesan cheese. My family went crazy. We made them when my daughter came from PA to help me with my knee and even my picky eater grandson loved them!! He was cute as pie watching him pop them in his mouth with his little hands and say, "mmmm good job Nan!" LOL 😂 Tickled me to pieces. Thank you soooo much for another great video. You're simply the best.
    UPDATE:
    I still haven't got to use my comfrey for my leg. That little part of my incision we spoke about still hasn't closed. In fact they had me come into the office yesterday to look at it and put steri-strips on to close it. It's still clean and looks good my doc said so no worries. Maybe by the end of the week he said it should be completely closed and I can FINALLY use it. I can't wait!
    Lots of love and hugs to you and your Mrs! ~Lisa

      Lisa, you are so right about when we grow our own potatoes or other vegetables we know what chemicals we didn't put on them. I am happy that your incision is healing even if slow. Did you tell your doctor that you were going to apply comfrey to it? Thanks for commenting on this video.

    I love growing potatoes and my kids love digging them out when they're ready! This year I didn't have great success but we did get a few good ones (enough to call it a harvest anyways). Thank you Wayne. As to the world of not so good people, the bible says that Satan is ruling the world right now. So, if Satan is the ruler of the world, then it makes sense that the world would be filled with bad people. What do you think of that statement?

      Hi Kim and welcome to my channel. When to plant potatoes, I think spring is best because the ground is still cool. Potatoes are a cool weather crop and when the ground warms up the potatoes don't sprout and do well. Depending on where you live you could grow a fall crop. Sure isn't nothing better than home grown. These little potatoes are also good in a pan cooked with some fresh green beans, onions, and pork.

      Hello and welcome to my channel. You are right, home grown is certainly the best, especially these days with so much food being GMO and sprayed with Round-up. I sometimes cook them that way too. Thanks for commenting on my videos. I invite you to subscribe and watch as the summer growing season continues.

    An alternative way to prepare is to steam them in the Instant Pot, flatten, then fry. Might spare the kitchen a little heat in the summer. I usually do a big batch and have half for potato salad and fry the rest. Any excuse to use the Instant Pot.

    No My crop was so small due to voles or moles from spring planting. I wanted to try again. I am pulling up my contender green beans and thought I would try planting potatoes. It is a small 4ft by 20 ft.

    • @OldAlabamaGardener
      @OldAlabamaGardener  7 років тому +1

      Kay, In a 4 by 20 bed you can grow a lot of vegetables. Now, do you now if it is moles or voles that destroyed your potato crop? Mole make the little raised mounds meandering around in the yard or garden. Voles make small holes in the ground about the size of an egg or maybe a little smaller.
      I can help you with either one, but it is much easier in E-mail than here in UA-cam.

    Hello OAG...i have couple questions for you plz about planting potatoes...1)can we use store bought potatoes or does it have to be seed potatoes..and whats the difference? If we harvest the potaoes can we reyse them to plant tge following soring or will they be too old?also,if we dont harvest potatoes on time..leaving them in the ground longer..will they rot or go bad?Thanks soooo much

    • @OldAlabamaGardener
      @OldAlabamaGardener  5 років тому +2

      All good questions. Lets take them apart and answer them one at a time. I'll post your question and then my answer. *_1)Your question:_* "Can we use store bought potatoes or does it have to be seed potatoes?" *_My answer:_* It depends. If the store bought potatoes were organic, then yes. If the store bought potatoes were not organic, then probably not. *_2) Your question:_* "What's the difference?" *_My answer:_* Store bought (non-organic) and store bought organic could be the same variety, it is the way there are treated that makes the difference. Store bought (non-organic) potatoes are sprayed with Round-Up to kill the foliage and make it easier to harvest. I don't have proof, but I believe the Round-Up moves through the potato stem and down into the roots and potatoes, where it inhibits growth. *_3) Your question:_* "If we harvest the potaoes can we reyse them to plant tge following soring or will they be too old?" *_My answer:_* (It kind of hard to understand your question, but I'll try.) I think you are asking, if you harvest the potatoes. can they be used for planting the next year or will they be too old. Potatoes, if not sprayed with Round-Up and stored properly will remain good until the next planting season. The most important thing is storing them properly. *_Your question:_* "if we dont harvest potatoes on time..leaving them in the ground longer..will they rot or go bad?" *_My answer_* It depends. If the weather gets hot the potatoes will rot in the ground. If you are only 2 or 3 weeks late they should be okay. Now, with all that said, lets talk about Round-Up. Round-Up is now proven to be cancer causing. So, do we want anything that has had Round-Up sprayed on it? For me, the answer is no. If I haven't answered your questions, please ask again. Google search on OAG potatoes This should bring up all my videos on growing potatoes.

    QUESTION: March 21 to July 15 is actually over 114 days... yet this video shows the total days at 83. I want to grow potatoes well and plan for the harvest. How long did it take from placing the 'seed potatoes' in the ground until you harvested them??

    Did your potatoes get any cool season during their growth ? I have tried growing in my container garden here in Mumbai several times but not got any harvests . Almost always the plants succumb to some type of virus ,the growing tips of the plant dry up and growth stops . Also it is around 95 F most of the months .

    There appeared to be a white powder on the cut potatoes when you planted them. What was that?

    • @OldAlabamaGardener
      @OldAlabamaGardener  7 років тому

      Hello and welcome to my channel. Sometimes potatoes, when cut will develop a whit looking color as they "heal over" prior to planting. That may have been it. I know you can grow great potatoes in your location of IN. Thanks for watching and for commenting.
