I do a bit of long distance surfcasting with long rods and conventional open-face reels. When I'm tuning my reels, several factors come into play: magnetic brake setting, number and size of centrifugal brake blocks, viscosity of the oil (if any) in the bearings, type of bearings (steel vs. ceramic), weight of spool (effects inertia), amount of line on spool (effects how fast the spool needs to rotate to cast off line). I assume that for a bait caster to cast further than another, it comes down to one or more of these factors well.
So many fishing channels these days that I never sub anymore. You seem like a good dude with a non-pretentious channel. Subbed and will share w friends.
@@bruce3579 If you have the money I would get the revo. I got the silver max combo as my first and loved it. Now I’m looking at getting another rod because if you like it you will want more rods eventually. Revo will be smoother.

They are both good reels. But it should be noted that they have different braking. The SLX has internal adjustment Centrifugal brakes. The Revo X has Magnetic brakes. I prefer centrifugal as it works right away in the beginning of your cast.
Shimano SLX. I had the Revo S and STX as well and on both the side plates kept popping off. Super annoying. Never had a hint of trouble out of my SLX. But the correct answer is Daiwa Fuego or Tatula 100HS if you can afford $160.

Hi there , im planning to buy a reel exclusively for saltwater use and did a bit research on saltwater reels . One of the name that came up is abu garcia revo4x inshore which is within my budget , the price is 165 usd in india. And Curado K301 which is 225 USD was suggested by few , but im not sure whether its a saltwater reel or not. Kindly do opine. In your opinion hows the revo 4x ( inshore is same as revo4x except corrosion resistant ) ? Also while compared to curado K ?
I have personally never used either for the salt yet. The Revo inshore is actually meant for saltwater, and most Shimanos do well in the salt as well. I’m not 100% sure if all curados are sealed or not. No matter what reel you go with, always rinse with freshwater after each trip, that helps big time with any internal parts that possibly could’ve been exposed to salt. Hope this help, for more info I’d check their websites and contact the companies themselves! 🤟🏽
Clearly the Garcia is the better choice just based on the amout of bearings... the reels casted the same because he set the brakes and anti backlash the same for his casting style.. redo vid no brake or anti backlash
Just because a reel has more bearings doesn't make it a better reel. I see too many people at my work try to base their purchase solely off which reel has more bearing. Its not about which one has more, its about how well they use them. The 13 fishing concept Z is a perfect example of this. Like I said in the video, both reels were tuned before taking test results in order to get the maximum distance without backlash. If you still disagree, I'd love to see a video of you beating my cast! Thanks for the feedback
@@humbugvideos Exactly, I'm not too sure why many new buyers today believe that more bearings = better reel. If you go on amazon right now, many companies are selling like $50 baitcasters with 18+1 bearings or something like that, and you can tell they are not good based on the reviews lol. Even the shimanos without the micro module gears (the feature that makes them _extra_ smooth) are quite comfortable to reel and pretty smooth compared to other reels on the market.
Hey there! Pairing one of these with an Abu Garcia Vendetta or Veritas rod would be a great option. I’ve used both and they r great. 7’ medium heavy or medium is the ticket for all around applications. Hope this helps👍🏽
I recently got the revo x and have paired it up with a diawa arid x mh fast action 7' and a shimano sellus mh 7'. It looks better on the shimano (the electric blue looks great), but I prefer the daiwa arid.
Remember the amount of line can dictate how far the cast is. If the revo has more line say 145 yards it won’t cast as far as say 100 yards would. That could be a variable is to make sure both reels have the same amount of line on.
