when I was young, I had this dream where these Parana fish were living in the furniture and if anyone sat down, they'd get eaten... my mother once told me after I woke up screaming that I have the power to control my dreams... I then went back to sleep then made a deal with the fish that if I brought a kid home I didn't like from school, they can eat that kid if they leave my family alone... never had that dream again until recently, and now I just make that deal but with coworkers...

Yeah, and I would be able to hear whats going on in the real world as well, like people checking if im still sleeping (except for alarms, which was wierd). Also I would be able to snap myself awake any second I liked and actually was able to judge real time quite well. And if I woke up for some reason I would be able to go right back to that same dream pretty quickly. I got bored of it though because your "concious" fantasy can only do so much, so I started to lucid dream less and less so that random, exiting things would happen again. Nowdays i only get it like once a month

I was watching your crash videos and looked back on your life here when you didn't really know what was going on, and if you had meaning etc etc. but you really do touch a lot of people on a very personal level, in a way that most people aren't comfortable doing. You talking about what might seem random bullshit that you think people are gonna judge you over and embarrass you over really does help. For me personally, it makes me feel like I'm not alone in my daily struggles. Im a 17 year old from Jersey, that didn't make it through his freshman year in Highschool, and fought with depression for years before even realizing I had it. Back when I tried to just run away from all my problems, I tried everything. I was never able to really connect with people until about about a year ago when I finally went out and got help and got my life back on track.

Ive always been fascinated in motorcycles and have been dying to get my license for awhile now, but thats not the only reason I watched you. Dan I really can personally relate to your experience. While I've never really been good at lucid dreaming, a long while ago I started having normal dreams (not lucid) that I just couldn't wake up from. When I was really small (around 13 to 15) I was thinking of all these existential things and shit for some reason and that experience really fucked up my sense of reality. I can't imagine how bad it was for you since it was way more of a constant thing.
Glad to hear that you're better though! I've been watching your videos for so long and I've been loving them all they way. Just wanted to also say, keep up the good work!

I'm 21 and I've never drank or done drugs in my life, my only addiction probably would be playing csgo and being on my PC waaay too much. As you were saying you wanted to "escape reality" through your sleeping problem, that's how I treat csgo it is my escape from reality and I get really pissy when I can't chill in my room and play csgo or another game.

I dabbled in lucid dreaming and most of the time when I tried it, sleep paralysis was happening most of the time and I decided to not try it anymore. The amount of control that it takes to keep yourself from going into a nightmare that you see in the world you know best is terrifying. I've accidentally had lucid dreams, I've induced them but the sleep paralysis is a huge unwanted side effect.

I was gonna try it but am not sure if I want to experience sleep paralysis, I probably have already, but I don't want to do it again.
The American Honda It's fine after you identify what it is and stay calm. If you freak out, that's when everything goes off course. It's hard not to prepare for the worst, inducing the worst. Best thing to do would be think about what makes you happy and try to simultaneously wake up your body.

I do the same type of things daily after a horrible trip on lsd. Questioning reality and if I'm really awake or asleep. I know what it's like man scary shit. Dude this really hit home for me because I have to test myself every day (I look for clocks and do math in my head and if i can spot a clock and do mental math than I know Im awake) but yeah it really fucks with you when you genuinely think you've done something but you haven't or you have a really realistic dream thats in a bad scenario and then wake up and your heart is beating so fast you feel like it's gonna fuckin burst and it hurts....a lot of people don't understand this kinda shit so it was refreshing to see someone vlog about it in an understanding way

Lucid dreaming is fucking amazing man.
It's great until you can't distinguish between sleeping and reality... I had that going on with some weird ass experimental anti-depressant that put me in the hospital for a week..... Then I woke up...scary shit dude.
I've had weird shit like that happen, most of the time it's been normal down to the smallest details, for example when I go to start my bike, I always bump my head on a wooden bench in my garden when I unlock the chain. Then I accidentally move my mirrors whilst leaning over the bike to disengage the steering lock, and most of the time it only starts on the third kick. That's happened plenty of times in my dreams, to the point where I will wake up after riding for hours and it'll be like 3am and I wonder what the fuck's going on.

that was cool to hear your story. a belated happy birthday too ya. i have lucid dreams often but never planned them. i would try tests to see if i was awake like switching on lights,they would not work for me in a dream. in one dream i was sure i woke up and went about my routine only to find i was still asleep and dreaming,i got freaked out and had to force myself to wake up again. i think having nice dreams when real life sucks keeps your spirit alive but when life is good the dreams are not as important. peace man
