Dan, You mention in the video that you feel rifles are more for fun than defense, but when i was an instructor for CCW and personal defense classes I always said that a Pistol is merely a tool to buy you time to get to a rifle or remove yourself from the situation, Pistols are great, they're a serious force multiplier and they can, and will save your life, but they will never beat a carbine, we carry pistols everyday because it is more convenient and easier to conceal, giving us the advantage (And protecting Idiots who don't understand their rights from having heart attacks when they see a gun.) but a rifle is always a better choice in a stand up fight, Thanks for the vids, and have a great christmas :)

Yeah like seriously if you are going to get really mad about the mag size then get a extended mag, he complains about the extended mag on the M1911 makes it larger what it will still fits and it will still feel the exact same when you shoot it, I always hate when people act like Glocks are so Superior but there's been time and time again when on police body cam they we'll have to shoot quite a bit for them to go down but for M1911 there's a good chance you won't even need the extended mag cuz it has the power, and I see when you're getting attacked while with your family I think it would be best to end him faster then having to press the trigger 8 times, and the sad thing is most people who talk shit about the M1911 have never shot it.

I'm 17 also, a neighbor that lives behind us who is a drug dealer flashed his "piece" at my little brother and I while we were playing basketball in our driveway, he has also tried to hit my little brother with his car while my brother was riding his dirt bike on our property. He has threatened my mother amongst many other things. My father died 5 years ago the 7th of this month and needless to say I'm extremely protective of both my mom and brother. I Don't want to take anyone's life and a gun is a last resort. But as you stated I cant wait to get my concealed carry.

My favorite concealed carry is a .22 Hi-Point with a 200 round drum magazine, carrying a mixture of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet tracer incendiary rounds (no homo). Not to mention the Xbox trigger after-market part, as well as a short shifter kit, just incase I need to put it into fully semi-automatic mode on a whim.

My carry gun is a custom glock 17 that I bought from a sheriffs deputy, it's got a mag extender, custom dovetail and a ported slide it's had around 2500 rounds put through it and it's never been cleaned and it shoots better than it did when it was new

I also agree with your attitude about "if"...I've seen situations and have been involved in a couple of scary situations without protection, hence why I want something to protect myself, friends, family, and innocents. Dan, i don't comment a lot but had to on this video. Your are 100% correct on the mentality of those who carry. I get asked why i carry a gun ALL THE TIME. People always tend to assume i am expecting to be shot at or get attacked or something of that nature. I ALWAYS tell them, i don't ever want to pull my gun. I don't ever want to be in the situation where i need to defend myself or someone else. BUT if the day comes where i DO need a gun, for myself or someone else, i will have it and be ready to use it. I always say "its better to have and not need than need and not have." Thank you for adding this in your video!

I carry a Smith and Wesson m&p m2.0. Holds 15 rounds in the mag and is super small. It conceals well, has a light trigger with a super short reset for fast shots. Ambidextrous thumb safety, it really is an awesome firearm. Oh one more thing, it also comes with 2 magazine sleeves that slide over the full sizes m&ps 17 round magazines so I can use them in my compact as well.

Nice vid Dan. Great breakdown on the proper mentality for carrying. I have a TLR-1 HL on my nightstand gun as well, and my one beef is the strobe feature. I can pretty much guarantee that I wouldn't get it to strobe under duress, so I just pretend it doesn't.

I had the EXACT same problem with my RIA 1911 where I couldn't drop the slide with one hand, unless I powerstroked it. SO I ended up giving it to my brother as a moving gift (he was literally carrying a 1920s TT33 tokarev). Couldnt get around that issue, so i gave it away and grabbing the new CZ P10C when it drops in the spring!

Had no idea you were into firearms when I started watching a few of your videos a little bit ago. Awesome man. But you don't carry your VP9 with JHP? Did I hear that right? You should definitely start carrying a good hollow point. For multiple reasons. I always like to use Speer Gold Dots but there's a ton of other good shit out there as you know. Haven't been able to shoot a desert eagle yet but I'd love to. Shot some 454s and 500s though. Good stuff man.
First pistol I picked up ever was a couple weeks back and was a VP9, even for someone with large hands the ergonomics are incredible. It came with adjustable plates as well to expand the handle :))

The 1911 although not my personal favorite is still in production today because of its simplicity, stopping power, and reliability.
Forgot to mention the outdated bit the 1911 was the most revolutionary gun of that time period, it outdid every other pistol of the time, it was way ahead of its time

I love the 1911.... have two, since no kids are in my house both are chambered, hammers back along with a pos 9mm and a few more toys. I however would not want to carry one. Weight, and capacity.

gixxeronyour6 good thing you will only have to disassemble and clean it after sending about 100,000 rounds or so though it. that's why it was adopted as the US army service pistol for 70 plus years before the First World War the US army's test to adopt a gun was to send about 100,000 rounds downrange without cleaning it and the 1911 beat out most other pistols in this test.
My favorite gun for EDC is the Walther PPK in 9mm, super super reliable, great with recoil, and since the barrel never moves it is incrementally more accurate, theoretically at least, and my favorite thing is it's size and feel in the hand. You don't need allot of ammo is you don't miss the first time.

I love my HK VP9, I purchased the LE upgrade, tritium night sights (much better then the light up to charge stock sights) and an extra magazine. Well over 3000 rounds through it and the only misfire I had was a feed issue with a bad ammo lip.

My brother in law carries a Magnum Reseach 454 Casull which is insanely fun to shoot and i carry a Springfield XDs. I used to carry a Colt 1911 Commander with the 1" shorter barrel and enjoyed weight distribution on the shorter profile.

One thing, carry with a round with a chamber and learn to use the light momentary only. The strobe setting works by double tapping momentary-only (press down on left side or press up on right side). You can also get rid of the strobe setting with the 10-tap programming.
I have the same 1911. They’re definitely outdated. But they are beautiful firearms and a decent one is a nice shooter. Props to your taste Dan.
