- An easy fix for the crusty oxidised mirror arms that seem to blight most Land Rover Defenders.
I decided to press on with this job even though I haven't yet ordered the new hinges. If you've got any hinge recommendations, let me know in the comments!

Lovely 110!.."Keswick Green",that's the colour for my 90 when she has a new paint job. And yes definitely black hinges👍
My 90 is Keswick green, I fitted the Gore security hinges in black, they do look great, bit of an upgrade from the originals 😀

I think black hinges myself or maybe Keswick green again... sometimes people can pick out too many details and makes it look too busy. But black hinges with the black heavy duty hood sticks will look cool 😎
The 110 is a big bad beast. Great vehicle all round.

Hi Conrad. A really useful guide to replacing the door mirrors, as I've just received my replacements for my td5. I'm also interested in replacing the black plastic surround on the front light cluster for what you have on the Puma - did you do this, or was it a factory fit? C
The newer the parts the faster they are rotting.
The mirrors on my series are still good but straight glass. I have ordered convex mirrors as a replacement and they started rusting right away!
You're not wrong there! The galvanising on my 1951 is soooo thick it's never going to corrode

Black roof with the kenswick green looks great and it would match the wheels etc :-)
Great video. Can I ask, is there an allen key to tighten the arm of the mirror (not the ball joint). My arms collapse a lot under high winds/speeds

perhaps when you upgrade to aluminium ones matching them to the body colour will result in a stockier look, which is what I'd go for. 2nd best choice is probably matching the rims with a rather glossy black, which will create a contrast with the satin black of the mirrors, especially as it ages

Satin black door and bonnet hinges.
Was the Defender designed to self corrode? For the sake of a few pound on fittings they'd last much longer.

Islandrovers I drive a London black cab and they’re made from the same rubbish. The only difference is we don’t get aluminium corrosion because there isn’t any. I like your videos, keep up the good work.

Yes, its possible to remove the arm, strip it back, and repaint it, but the replacements are so inexpensive I don't actually think its worth it.
