Today we are finally covering the "Les Paul 25" the Gibson Custom Shop made in 2007. This is essentially a "reissue" of the 1978 Gibson Les Paul 25/50 Anniversary. It borrows many elements and was birthed around a time in the Henry J era when they started to reissue key Norlin limited editions.
Spec sheets claim 100 of these were made, although I doubt quite that many truly exist as they rarely show up to market... or maybe they are all just locked away in collections. 25 sounds like a number that would've made a lot more sense to me! haha.
This unique Les Paul features a bare flame maple headstock veneer with Gibson mother of pearl logo, a flame maple pickguard, flame maple pickup rings, a 5 piece flame maple neck, 57 classic pickups and a coil split switch.

Such a beautiful Les Paul, congrats Austin.
mom's spaghetti
I have seen this guitar before. Not in person ..
This is a keeper for the museum. It is such a unique instrument that you have to hold this until you find a better one.
I struggle to imagine what could be better than this one. IMO it's perfect.
I agree. This guitar is insane.
It’s ugly as sin.
That flame headstock is too awsome. All Pauls should have that. Very Beautiful!!! The Rootbeer Brown one is just like my old 78 Custom
For the $ we spend that neck should be on studios and up
Honestly Austin that Les Paul is absolutely amazing. That cross hatched tight striped flame is stunning. In my 25 + years collecting, researching and selling guitars I've never seen a flame like that. If ever there was a guitar to keep this would be it.
I sold a Burny Super Grade that was sick flame w/crosshatch. It adds more 3-D movement imho
They have tops like that on a lot of les pauls. Les paul custom figured? They have some of those that have flames and cross hatch AND quilting all in one
Unbelievably beautiful...the flame top and headstock are insane. Congrats dude !
You would be CRAZY not to keep that for the museum! That guitar is extra special!
I’m not kidding, that may be one of the best sounding guitars I’ve ever heard. I’ve heard thousands and thousands of guitars on UA-cam but this one stands out.
That sounds incredible. This is one of those guitars that just have it. That special something that makes it great. It's one of those that people spend years trying to replicate the sound. Great find
You should keep a suction cup around. Great way to get toggle switch cavity covers and even backplates off on tighter fitting examples
Beautiful figured woods on that example. (I do like the "Cherry Burst" over the other versions. Sharp!) Love that "Burst" headstock too. It doesn't need anything "extra".
2007 was a good year for obscure models I guess. It took me ages to find the right catalogue containing a guitar I've owned since about 2009. Ibanez only made that guitar in 2007 and immediately stopped making the whole line.
Which one? Now I'm curious!
I hardly ever like split tones, but this guitar impressed me.
03:48 That Spotlight Flame may have been a nod to the Les Paul log.
That one for sure needs to stay in your museum, if not for the look of it, but also because you like the tones so much. Sellers regret should you sell...
Austin, your channel is The Longest channel on UA-cam that i follow closely since the day I discovered it,which is about 3 or more years ago(feels even longer) and haven't missed a SINGLE Episode yet.I do miss sometimes but I catch up on them ALL soon as I get enough time. But usually,by the time the new episode comes out every day,Is about the time that I'm heading to bed..and soon as I lay down,I put on the Trogly Guitar Show my friend))
My wife used to be like "Again"? Back when she was with us.. and now that she is gone, the memories of us watching it every night before sleep..is one of the good memories I got left.
Thanks a lot Brother.
Hot sauce and green scouring pad works very well on brass. It is an old Marine Corps trick. Semper Fi to all my Devil Dogs. It also spices up your playing.
Nice video!! The little nuggets of info like the humidifier pointer are super interesting and I never even knew there were different types of humidifiers. I still think a separate video on how to properly store your guitars would be a good idea!!
At first glance what stands out is the pickup rings and pickguard. And I also like how they matched the headstock to the body. It would've blew me away if you started rapping on that first song. Until this video the best sounding Les Paul I'd heard in some time was my greenburst I recently purchased. I have to dial back the Seymour Duncan 59s in it to not overdrive my clean setting on my Spark bias. I noticed something to. The dot inlays are all that silver color except the one on the same side of the side markers. Those are a greenish brown color.
Can not wait to visit the museum
Z is for retired. I like the finish. The TP6 is awesome. Chloe loves the neck and head stock the most.
Oh this one is amazing.. the execution on this one to me is way nicer than the.. Les Paul with the sprayed over flame maple pickguard and pick up rings. This is one of the coolest guitars I think I've ever seen it would be really cool if they did this in a transparent black triple flame top and appointments or better yet a tobacco or vintage burst.. that would be a dream guitar of mine
That needs to be one of your examples, for museum, don't sell it , those are the types you need.
That 'lose yourself' riff i thought you're gonna be spitting some of mom's spaghetti.
That is a great sounding guitar! I have always believed that a brass nut really added something to the tone profile of a guitar
That is a super point, because the brass is so dense it would really let the strings tones be crisp and clear.
You think you can hear the difference thru your PC speakers with the you tube compression. You can't. It's all in your heads.
@@drewjohnson4794 No, maybe YOU can't. There always has to be one negative asshole in a group, and, congrats, that's you today.
Very pretty LP 25 'Reissue', sounds great crunchy! I like those nice long individual pickup leads in this for wiring mods. The typical Gibson pickup 4 leads with MOLEX connectors have tiny 1/2" short wires. If you remove the MOLEX plug to solder the leads you have to strip the labels off the lead bundle to expose more wire which is really annoying and diminishes the pickup value even more than being stuck with a MOLEX plug.
Can you at some point if you are able to do a video on the Fender Coronado. I saw in another forum that there is such a thing and I'm not familiar in the least with it. Way back when I was younger I'd seen a brand named Coronado but they were like a chessman. Not a brand as familiar to people who knew Gibson or Fender. But they had their own take on several models but nothing to go to court on.
WHOA?! Never knew about this one and it is Outstanding!!!!I'm a bit shocked (to be honest) that You,Mr.Trogly only NOW have showed this Mesmerizing piece to us!:)))
Massive Thanks for this Good Sir!
Also,that "25/50 Anniversary Re-issue" one that you've shown for comparison.. GOOD GOD,WHAT A NECK!!!!!!!
Wallmart
Best comment on the internet earned you a Bronze Medal.
I love that 2550 you're holding.. I just left another comment saying if they did that Les Paul 25 in tobacco Burst or vintage burst it would be even cooler. LOL
That one will be for sale at the end of the month
That is the best sounding Gibson Les Paul, ever!
That there is definitely something worth holding onto. An ultra-nice guitar that actually lives up to and surpasses its pedigree.
Congratulations to you!
21:45 Who Was in My room Last Night.. classic! Nice guitar though..
Appreciate the way you demonstrate the times of the guitar
OMG, it's more 70s than the 70s! It wouldn't be first on the list if I could have my choice of any LP but it's absolutely gorgeous and I love it
That 25 is too over-the-top for my taste, but holy cow, that 25/50 you pulled out is absolutely STUNNING!
The mini toggle switches tend to be a more delicate switch as compared to the push-pull style used on the pots. In any case, if you own a guitar with either style, get yourself 1 or 2 spares.
If they had made the whole body out of that beautiful curly maple instead of just the top & and neck and burst everything, it would be my ideal guitar. I would also simply do away with the poker chip since it doesn't really match the rest of the top.
Sounds like you’d like this guitar m.ua-cam.com/video/qGcDGu2przs/v-deo.html
I use a product called Gorgamyte. It kind of feels like cloth, but I believe it's made from paper. Smells amazing. Like coconut. But it works really REALLY well for so many guitar needs. Polishing frets. Fretboards. Polishing your guitar. Cleaning tuners, bigsby, you name it. It's out of production right now, but my favorite shop carries a different version. If you'd like, I'd be happy to send you some.
That is I think my favorite looking and sounding Les Paul I've ever seen. The brass nut and flame everwhere is just SICK! And that sound and tone was awesome. Perfect piece!!!!!
Best Demo Ever 🎊
I love the sound of both pickups. Very sweet guitar.
this guitar isn't for me-- it's TOO gorgeous and TOO nice for lil ol me. amazing.
WOW THAT IS BEAUTIFUL !!!!
Gorgeous guitar"s Austin just beautiful Thank you
Now that is a show room guitar
At first I was like "Nah, that thing looks just too ridiculous" but once you started to play it I was in love.
The House That Never Sleeps uses Happich Simichrome Polish to polish pretty much everything on high end Martins. And suction cups are a good way to remove stubborn back covers.
Beautiful guitar and sounds great too. Nice 'oh well ' Trog!
Stunning guitar congrats Trog 👏
Ever tried Brasso? for the brass nut etc?
I was really surprised by the sound!
I'm not much on a split humbucker if it gets too weak, but daaaamn that's a nice piece.
Someone should put another pickguard on that to protect the flame maple picguard.
"This maybe the best Les Paul I've played in years."!!
Love it!! Should have shaded the pick guard with some red to blend with the body! Beautiful! Loving it!
"Woop-e-woo" Trogly, I love your slang. don't ever change. LOL
Greetings Trog...There's actually a VERY good reason that pick guard is stained/finished equally front and back. As thin as that piece of wood is...if it is not finished equally front and back (same finish, same number of coats - applied at the same time...) the wood will eventually warp.
☝️☝️ Congratulations..

A lot of commenters here seem particularly awestruck by the tonality of this specific guitar, it certainly looks the part of a wall hanger keeper for the museum, no doubt. But personally for me, I keep going back to hear more of those over the top metal tones of that black widow Les Paul with the purple binding that Troggly had recently featured here, that had been modified with updated active EMG pickups, I’ve shown that video to a few people and my buddies at the jam spot. I’ve long been exclusively a Fender hardtail Strat-Charvel based player who has slowly developed a unique hit or miss deranged improvisational guitar fusion style, over the course of 35 years of intently focused guitar noodling, mostly alone in isolation to impress myself while escaping severe chronic pain and the rigors of existence. Forgetting much of what I’ve relearned experiencing those 10-12 hour long marathon practice escapist sessions, until it comes rushing back to me, as I ride the coat tails of two astounding drummers that play synchronized, unfortunately my level of self confidence revolves in steep cycles. I have a reputation for revealing my genius and shortcomings all at once, being prone to either failing spectacularly in public and underwhelming the entire audience, appearing rusty in dribbling the ball off my foot out of bounds, while committing a series of technical fouls, at risk of ejection, or else if I’m warmed up and felling comfortable as all the vibes are realigning, I’m apt to go from under achieving and shooting a pathetic 5% point range from the field, to getting in my bag and suddenly overachieving in a red hot streak, shooting at a 95% from the field and just nailing my trick shots from the floor, hogging the ball jacking up like Iverson and SRV, turning on a dime, while driving the band like a Ferrari shifting through the gears of musical styles and genres with gated manual shifter, 7/8 time, operating between the silences, double time, astenado, 3/4 time, tempo change, building up tension, explosion, cut time, sending it backwards, inside out, hooks alluding to the change, scribbling all over the meter, grabbing the best, the editing out the rest reaching in real time, spreading my wings, in appearing to levitate right up off the stage, and nailing a 720 McTwist Tony Hawk move, right into a new move impossible to ever again recreate, subtle interjections projecting the rhythms out 30 seconds ahead, intensely listening for the best possible resolutions, forgetting to breathe, all while hunched over, escaping actuality, playing seated in a chair in some room, back on earth? Forgive the metaphor but, it’s like making love you could hit a grand slam out of the park every time your at the plate or you could lose it in 2 minutes, the trick is to not let the low or high points get all into your head, where it carries over to the next sessions, or you’ll find yourself walking around like some egomaniacal champion, or alternatively a depressed bum…LoL! I digress. My heavy metal playing style has long since mellowed out over the decades, and yet I fall back into it here and there. So now Troggly has me looking up modern access heel carved Les Pauls after being mesmerized with the heavy metal Les Paul active EMG tones…LoL…xD
Woot woot Trogly's guitars 🎸
Sounds amazing!!
Use jewellers cloth for cleaning fingerprints and very light scratches from metal parts, it won't eat thru' plating.
What is the difference between a coil split toggle and a coil split push/pull? I dont need my guitar looking like the control panel of Apollo 9. I liked the pick guard a lot.
Wow what a beautiful guitar
There are special polishing clothes for jewelry, which is gold plated. Maybe try one of these on a spare part.
That is one fine looking LP.
I love that headstock, it got some vibes i can't explain.
It really sounds so good. Maybe because of it's a maple neck in combination with brass nut.
Maybe it's the body's wood, or maybe it's the weight? Who knows?
But I love it 😍
I definitely have a LP I’ve been scratching my head with. I’ve found one that is close and probably the same, but the one I found is a retailer exclusive from over seas.
I had some inheritance once and almost bought a Desert burst Les Paul Supreme but I decided against it and got a 2011 Desert burst Traditional instead.
☝️☝️ Congratulations..

This is one beautiful.
Brass nut should be a standard. GraphTech for shredders that want high mids. But brass allows the sustain, and keeps the higher frequencies that the Tusq and XL cut in order to keep the intonation.
A good friend of mine has a "Lawsuit Era" ES-335 copy with all solid brass nut, bridge, and saddles and some uncovered hotter '57 pickups. It will give any 335 of any era a run for their money when it comes to tone.
☝️☝️ Congratulations..

I love this guitar! Gibson should be making THIS type of guitar instead of a Slash Conda 700th edition. I have a Les Paul with a similar color. Wish I saw this puppy, don't know what you paid...but, I am not in the market to buy but would have tried to snatch that up. Plus not smart enough to know if I am being jobbed. Sounds so good. I love '57 Classic Pickups...actually they are my favorite and you all heard why.
Sincerely,
Jealous
awesome video Trog! Thank you for bringing these rare finds to the light! I appreciate your hard work!
That tone is amazing
The addition of the brass nut brings the raunchy to the tones.
Gorgeous!
The sounds from this are sweet
I love this guitar!!! I like the color and the headstock veneer. The pickups sounded fantastic as well.
The Marshall Gibson collaboration 57 goldtop Murphy aged only 50 made were the best!
Wow I’m stunned 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
they shoulda/coulda bursted the pick guard .. to blend in.
The tone truely is amazing, exciting. Could it be the pups and the weight combo? Beautiful!
Trogly on my saxophone in clarinets I use a rouge rag from Selmer and it works out real well on my horns you could try it out they're not that expensive
That Les Paul is a pretty special example, beautiful and sounds better than anything I’ve heard you demo before. 🤘
Ok....this is the one! Thxs for sharing, cheers.
That flame maple pickguard gives this Heritage Guitars vibes.
That's a gorgeous guitar! It would also be gorgeous if the flamed maple pickup covers and pickguard were natural
I really love this Les Paul model! I think the finish and figuring are amazing and the guitar is a great sounding instrument. I would definitely keep it.
Mother's non-abrasive metal polish. I used to use it on band instruments. It won't remove any material but will lift any grime out of the metal. Won't take the lacquer off of them either.
Will have to give it a shot!
@@Trog hope it helps!
That head stock is gorgeous.... wow I love that , I'm no expert but by far my most favorite... though the dragon one is very close 2nd runner up !
Wow that’s SIIIIIICK a maple pickguard !! That’s awesome the TPS is awesome too !!! Wow!!
Overall it is a beauty, but I don't like the pickguard or the pickup rings. I also agree that the pinstripe top is a bit much. I love the back of the neck, though.
Not a fan of the look but man that tone is the bees knees!
Salutations Austin!
Absolutely beautiful Les Paul!
Is looks great and it sounds great too.
I have an Epiphone 1960 Tribute Les Paul that has the same pickups and individual coil splits via push pull pots, and it sounds virtually identical, however it is not chambered and does not have a brass nut either.
I really like the wood pickup rings and the flame maple 🍁 pick guard as well as the headstock.
If you ever want to get rid of this guitar, please let me know, however, it will likely be quite a while before you find one in better shape and also a different, and more preferable color option, though.
Thank you for posting these videos!
Please have an excellent and awesome day! ☀️✨🎸
I would keep it, it's so nice, it's cool to know, that Gibson has, and can make badass and beautiful.
Great sounding Guitar, your playing went up a level because you were enjoying it. Personally I would make this your go to Guitar just because it brings out your playing. The museum is a great idea but this Guitar needs to be heard. Your show Rocks mate. Best from Germany.
Beautiful! Wish I had one!!!
Beautiful guitar!
congrats you discovered a maple neck LP has its own killer vibe !
Where did you get that tape measure?
Gibson made many models as "Limited" numbered editions during the 2000s and claimed to make "Only" 100 of certain runs like the 2003 Allen Collins Tribute 1958 Korina Explorer but many claim they have never seen pictures of any made after number 40. I think it was like Trogly said........ they made them as orders came in and once they stopped selling they simply quit making them even if they didn't reach 100 made. The last Allen Collins Tribute I seen sold for more than $25,000.00 so they are very hard to find meaning I don't think many were made atleast not 100 of them. I don't think we will ever know unlike some models like the Ace Frehley Gibson limited edition signature Les Pauls that have dedicated websites with almost every single guitar sold fully documented with multiple pictures. Nowadays we know that Gibson isn't hurting for money as the make guitars for 50K or the Korina Reissues starting at 10K.
Keep it, Trogley!
