    That's why Kunal Shah's rants are given attention to, cuz he pulled a stunt like this of sticking something useless to someone at high valuation

    The fact that zomato bounced back from such a grave mistake is commendable.

    whole episode is really good but during zomato vs swiggy ....the video editor nailed it with the editing!! 👍

      @@backstagewithmillionaires Yes Indeed. More videos on this similar format is much appreciated. The way you condensed from 10 to 3 acquisitions was a smart move.

    Yes more videos like this please, instead of listing down top 10 mistakes which doesn't go into detail, I feel this is better, feels like I've watched 3 different videos 🧎🧎🧎🔥

      Yes! The original script was actually Top 10, but then we shrunk it down to 5 only, and then later on in revisions I decided to cut it to 3. Glad I did! Thanks as always for watching and engaging with our videos 🙏 -Caleb

    Zomato for the longest time didn't want to be in the food delivery business. Even before swiggy there was foodpanda, although their service wasn't quite upto the mark.
    Things changed during jan Feb 2015 when food panda acquire Just Eats and Tastykhana (there were a few smaller ones, i don't remember). All of a sudden in Feb zomato wanted to get into the delivery business. Hence started the delivery war. Swiggy started services in April may , zomato in July August.

    • @backstagewithmillionaires
      @backstagewithmillionaires  24 дні тому +4

      Putting myself in Deepinder's shoes, there are so many reasons NOT to get into delivery. It would inhibit their ability to expand globally, and even if they chose to purely focus on India, running a delivery business is so much more operationally complex and expensive. It really took Swiggy (and Foodpanda) gaining traction for Zomato to wake up and realise that Swiggy was Netflix and they were about to be Blockbuster. -Caleb

    Love the video. I don't mind the length of the video, kept me engaged.
    Can you make a video on how GTM strategies change with strategic investments or acquisitions? May be give us a few examples of successful and failed GTM strategies.

      Main problem is that if we change it, it gets reset in the YT algorithm 😞 which could halt performance. Maybe once performance has plateaued though I will change. -Caleb

    I love the video it’s really created a healthy debt in my mind 😊😊….
    there is no guarantee that which step bring into success..
    I believe success is combination of failure and hopefully these acquisition is part of their learning… The same zomato have a success story from another acquisition…
    IMO, it’s not right or wrong decision in the business world until world see the result.
    Being a viewers including you and me cooking story around result by adding our own flavours, it would be better respect their decision instead of justifying based on the outcome…

    Is this video in support of Swiggy,, as its IPO is nearing?

    • @backstagewithmillionaires
      @backstagewithmillionaires  24 дні тому

      Nope. I personally prefer Zomato myself as a customer 😅 but it's true that Swiggy was able to innovate and give major competition to Zomato as a smaller, younger company. Now they are a massive thorn in Zomato's side, and IMO it's due to Zomato focusing on international expansion when they should have been focusing on India. -Caleb
