Anton Bonin Absolutely! All of the wild ways you can buff up skills to extreme levels is one of my favorite things about Morrowind. Haha, the only limit is whether or not it crashes the game
As an aside, note that Great House Telvanni also has a lot of people who can help you make spells. And as for spell effects, especially when it comes to Conjuration summons, members of House Telvanni usually sell the strongest spell effects. That said, there are four very useful spells you may want to go out and find that Telvanni doesn't sell. The Tribunal Temple folks in Balmora, in the basement of the Temple, can teach you Almsivi Intervention, Mark, and Recall. There is an NPC in the Ebonheart Imperial Cult who offers Divine Intervention. These spells let you teleport around the map, which is really handy. Almsivi Intervention takes you to the regional Temple, and Divine Intervention takes you to the nearest Imperial Cult shrine. Having both sometimes leads to daisy chains to where you can Almsivi Intervention to one Temple, Divine Intervention to a shrine, and then Almsivi Intervention to another Temple. Mark and Recall are a bit more complicated, but still pretty simple. Mark simply places a "mark" at your current location, and Recall teleports you to that mark. This is handy in a number of ways. You could, for example, Mark the location of your quest giver to Recall to that spot later. Once you advance to very high ranks in the Great House of your choice, you will eventually have a player home built for you, and you can Mark that player home so you can quickly return there and unload excess stuff you can't or aren't going to sell, and gear up for your next adventure. Lastly, if you miss Fast Travel that bad, you can make a Jump effect with an absurd magnitude for 1 second, as well as a Slowfall 1 pt for 20 seconds spell (NOT ON THE SAME SPELL). By absurd magnitude, I'm talking 200 magnitude or above (can't remember if that's above the vanilla maximum magnitude or not. If it is, plenty of mods increase the limit). This requires a fair amount of work put into your Alteration skill to use consistently, but this basically replicates the effect of the Scroll of Icarian Flight, allowing you to jump a quarter of the way across Vvardenfell in seconds. You do need to cast Slowfall before you land though, or you will die from fall damage. This is an extremely fun way to get around the map. You feel like a character straight from DBZ.
What I liked about Morrowind was that you could make yourself into a literal god, or choose not to. Nothing forced you to make spells or potions with ridiculous numbers, but the option was there.
I am just leaving this here: when you delete the original spell you bought (because you made a better version of it or a suitable version) it returns to the mage who sold you the spell.

How come this video that explains this so clearly, has such few likes versus other videos that are much much worse?! Great video and thank you for clarifying this for me!
I am really enjoying this series, as well as your channel. You're straightforward, analytical, and outright. You take the time to add timestamps for convenience. You're enthusiastic and passionate about what you're teaching/explaining. You give detailed formulae for the most simple things. And all this, for a game that came out approx 15 years ago. I can see potential in your channel, and look forward to see what you go on to do. If I were to add one bit of criticism, it would be to avoid moving as much while recording. Though not very noticeable, you can occasionally hear your voice become echoey/sharper, as you become closer and further away from your microphone. It's something small, but I feel like everyone has the one little thing to improve on. Like I said, I thoroughly enjoy your channel, and look forward to see what you go on to do.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I definitely agree on the audio occasionally sounding slightly inconsistent. In this video specifically, at around 7:00 in the original recording I slipped up and said "every spell in our spell's skill" rather than "every level". Didn't notice this until I'd already recorded the entirety of the audio, so I went back and re-did that line a few times. Still couldn't quite get it to seamlessly fit back into everything else, even with a little audio processing. It's usually a good idea to pick a duration of 2 seconds for quick healing spells and short-duration damage spells instead of 1. Pick half the damage with twice the duration, you end up with a more efficient spell and can still spam it without losing effectivity. @@LyleShnub Hey Lyle, it's been a while since you've last heard a word from me. I don't have any specific plans so far, but I might be interested in making a morrowind mechanics series in german, basically picking up your work, adding some of the additional information people provided in the comments sections and localizing all of that for a german audience. In case I actually start that project within the next few months - is there a video editing program you can recommend to an absolute beginner, and more importantly: Would you mind the existance of such a copykhajiit project?
Sorry, I meant to get back to you sooner on this, but I think that's a fantastic idea! Localizing information for different languages seems like it could only be a good thing and help more people. Just make sure your own video, especially the graphics and text for formulas. UA-cam might auto-detect it and give you a copyright strike or community strike or something like that. As for video editing software, I personally use HitFilm Express. It's free and (in my opinion) a little bit more beginner friendly than (also free) DaVinci Resolve.
Yeah, it can be useful if you don't want to buy training from NPCs. Otherwise, making gold and then buying training is the fastest way to level anything.
True but in early when you aren't good at this game yet and have not as much gold I though it is good idea :3 Also i enchanted 4 items with ranged spells maxing dmg just to let them stay at 1 p cast cost (usualy it was 4) and by throwing enemy in early game bursts of little missils i was surprisingly fast learning enchantment :)
Thanks so much! Unfortunately the next one will take longer to get out than I'd like as I've been out of town for the past week, away from my computer.
With alchemy, you can pretty much do whatever you want, that is if you increase your int or will you wont have to worry about your spell costs. The price of spells still remains the same and can become extremely expensive the higher the magnitude. You may be able to increase your personality through alchemy and reduce the cost but i havent tried that.
Great series overall! Loving it. But I want to point out that there actually IS a tutorial on enchanting. It's in the manual. Yeah that one thingy no one reads.
*Spell Cost* (Magicka) is based on the Effect's Base Cost, Range, Magnitude, Duration and Area. *Spell Chance* is based on Spell Cost, School Level, Willpower, Luck and your current Fatigue ratio.
I love how in skyrim you need end game conjuration to have 2 spawns meanwhile in morrowind you can create a spell that summons two creatures super early in the game (it only cost me like 200 gold) 😂 morrowind is goated
so ive gone threw several of these guides so far and boy i forgot how indepth games used to be. You didnt zone out you had to do math and .... algebra!!! to figure out some things more than now a days where most of the math is done for you. I missed out on the ES games because i always had playstations if i had a console at all. I think im ganna enjoy playing them. I decided to start at Morrowind and work my way up to ESO I want to see all the stories.
I have a question for you.. I've been watching your videos and appreciate your ligit gameplay explainions. I'm sure you already know of the (Soul Bound + Attribute increase) permanently boost your attribute when aimed at wall or floor. Since you sound very familiar with the game mechanics; could you explain why this 'glitch' happens? Thank you for your time and awesome videos ;)
Thank you, but I don't really know what causes it to happen - only that it does happen. My best guess is that when soul trap checks to see what soul level a target has for the purposes of storing it in a soul gem, it results in this anomalous interaction. Maybe soul level is technically classified as a hidden attribute? This is just conjecture - I really have no clue, haha
i legit just got my stats maxed out earlier today i could make a destruction spell for example that does 300 points of elemental damage from fire , frost, shock 100 points each but it cost a lot of money which is my biggest set back
A bit late here, but if you mean simply the cost, then adding area effects makes an on touch/ranged spell more costly in both gold when created and magicka when cast, as well as being more difficult to cast. As Lyle mentioned when discussing setting any value in general to 0, not adding any area effect, will still calculate hold/magicka cost and difficulty as if it was set to 1 (as in 1 foot), similar to the formula for “on self” spells (which can’t have area effects). Experiment with it to see the concrete magnitudes in the game itself for specific examples. I strongly recommend that you add area effects to any on target open spell, simply because it can otherwise be very tricky to hit exactly the right spot on a locked container. To keep costs down, consider adding a varied magnitude. Open and telekinesis spells can be useful for “clumsy thieves” (i.e. those without good sneak and/or chameleon), since you can steal when blocked from view by pillars, furniture, or other features of the environment, without having anything invested in stealth or security. Such “remote thieving” also means that you will be at a safe distance from the harmful effects from traps on chests/doors, and so don’t have to worry about setting them off or disarming them. A good example is that you can easily get the Sword of White Woe from a guard tower in Balmora using telekinesis from behind a pillar, giving you a useful, early game ebony broadsword which drains opponents’ health.
You can get a rough idea of your cast chance by looking at the orange-red bar under its icon in the UI when you have a spell equipped. There's several factors for determining cast chance, but probably the most important is the spell's school. One skill level in the corresponding school gets you +1% cast chance.
Should I play with spell making at an early level? I made a Nord that is mostly afept at combat, but has destruction as a major skill and restoration as a minor skill. And im level 2 after two play sessions.
How to restore mana in Morrowind: Novice: sleep; Apprentice: drink self-made restore mana potion; Journeyman: summon creature for a couple of seconds and drain mana from it; bonus point for summoning creature by permanent effect wearable item by equipping it; Expert: while having absorb spell effect on you, activate tribunal or imperial divines shrine; Master: drop your intelligence to zero for a moment; Grand Master: drop your mana below -32000-something
I always found it odd from Daggerfall to Morrowind that you need to find a special person to make a spell, but the spell you make is effected by *your* stats. The spell maker clearly doesn't make the spell, so why must you go to them?
My personal explanation is that the spell maker uses those stats as a measure of your own ability to safely harness magic. They want to make sure you're able to come back for more business.
It might be my fault but I really just cannot get into being a mage in Morrowind lol. Spellmaking is fun but I found myself enjoying being a stealthy short blade assassin more than anything else in Morrowind.
shock, because least npc's have resistance to it. fire is worst because majority of npc's are dunmer which have resistance to fire. but again, you might see a nord that has shock resistance but does not have fire. hence most efficient damage spell would be combination of all elements.
Theoretically I think you might be able to? Can't remember off the top of my head if custom spells have a limit to the number of effects you can have on them. That said, the cost of the spell will skyrocket thanks to all the effects
Spells do more than damage. Teleporting, shielding, turning invisible, flying, turning enemy spells into more mana or turning them back on the casters, all sorts of stuff.
Was "Check a look" at about 10:33 intentional? I'm not trying to chastise you or anything like that, I'm just wondering. Also, I found out about the reply problem. Turns out I made it so people couldn't reply to my posts at one point, but I can't figure out how to change it back again, and I'm not sure if it's my own incompetence, or Google+ just being bad. The new settings does seem a lot harder to find what you're looking for, so it might not be just me being dumb.
could you please refrain from use ableism in your videos, like insane, crazy, dumb etc www.autistichoya.com/p/ableist-words-and-terms-to-avoid.html for more info.
I can promise to make a good effort to exclude such language from all of my videos that I create a script for, like my guide videos. Haha, it wasn't too long ago that I made extra effort to use "anyway" instead of "anyways" on these scripted videos and I think that this deserves at least as much effort. That said, I cannot guarantee that I won't occasionally slip up. For what it's worth, I don't believe that I actually use such language in this specific video. However, when it comes to my playthrough videos I cannot keep that promise. While I agree that quite a few terms covered in your linked article are tasteless and I never use them, others are very deeply ingrained on me. I'm not sure if I'm capable of refraining from calling things crazy, whack, insane, nuts, and so on when speaking candidly. To that end, if you, or anyone, decide to not watch my stuff for that reason, I totally understand and I do apologize. I respect that decision in the same way that I would if someone didn't like my using blasphemy, innuendo, or even plain old cursing. Such is the way that folks are and I don't blame them at all for it.
you said insane tho. And glad that you are willing to make the effort, I will too. Great vid as always. Hope you can become big one day, just for the sake of reaching more people that love Morrowind. Would you be interested in making a video about your biggest problems and most fond memories of this game? I for instance dont like the npcs one bit. I walk into the council club in balmora, I talk to the people there, they say their usual stuff that they hate foreigners, then the bartender says, without a hint of sarcasm 'tell your friends about your place' -.-
Oh wow, did I really? Haha, I'm sorry. I even ctrl+f'd through the script to double check. I guess I must have ad-libbed it in there. Anyway, almost two months ago I made like a 20 minute video reminiscing on Morrowind in honor of its 15 year anniversary. I have actually been rolling around the idea of doing a couple videos or so that are more critical on the game. It's fascinating to see how Morrowind's world is designed relative more recent Bethesda games like Skyrim or Fallout 4. It's cool to see how they evolved their design even though their work teams have changed and how they had to work around tech limitations with Morrowind.
You have just blown my mind. Its a sorry existence to live one's life that way, insane, crazy to expect others to obsess over and ban particular words in their vocabulary lest it offend a mongoloid somewhere. Now... that was an example of whereby the word served your rhetoric of ableism, most words however, do not fall into a state of provocation when used in everyday life. Singular words often mean different things and are more often weighted by the words preceding or coming after it. Its all about context, tone, intention and CONTEXT. But ultimately, I think what you just said was daft. You see 'daft' as a micro-aggressive usage of casual ableism. The point is we have different views and we are entirely capable of regulating our language, but to single people out and actively attempt to change their language, their voice; is frankly oppressive.
Fortify attribute by 5 for 1 sec and soul trap on target 1 sec. Aim at your feet. All summons....1 sec soul trap on target 1 sec. This can also be done with all other spells like jump(🦘 fr fr) to keep them permanently as well. All these spells cost nothing almost and can be done pretty much at lvl 1. If you ever want to see an army fight the town guards. 😂

Reminded me my idea to make 1 spell from every category that cost exacly 1 mana to cast it in free tine just to learn that specific school of magic XD
Yeah, it can be useful if you don't want to buy training from NPCs. Otherwise, making gold and then buying training is the fastest way to level anything.
True but in early when you aren't good at this game yet and have not as much gold I though it is good idea :3
Also i enchanted 4 items with ranged spells maxing dmg just to let them stay at 1 p cast cost (usualy it was 4) and by throwing enemy in early game bursts of little missils i was surprisingly fast learning enchantment :)
these videos are amazing. keep it up :)
After all this years i still can't belive Morrowind was created by 40 people, so complex even for today standards
Spellmake a levitate spell with the largest area keeping the magnitudes at 0
And use it on cliff racers, they can no longer fly
*Spell Cost* (Magicka) is based on the Effect's Base Cost, Range, Magnitude, Duration and Area.
*Spell Chance* is based on Spell Cost, School Level, Willpower, Luck and your current Fatigue ratio.
I love how in skyrim you need end game conjuration to have 2 spawns meanwhile in morrowind you can create a spell that summons two creatures super early in the game (it only cost me like 200 gold) 😂 morrowind is goated
Really wish skyrim had spellmaking. I loved it.
so ive gone threw several of these guides so far and boy i forgot how indepth games used to be.
Who thumbed down? I need names
Vivec after I finish making a max damage and radius fire, frost and shock spell: “ha ha I’m in danger”
Always get a spellmaker with option to barter. Most accept potions so you can sell to get back your gold.
I make levitate spells for easier transport that cost 0 to cast.
What? How?
I just discovered your channel, and I have one VERY important question.
What is the class discription for The Wiz class?
Hahaha, if I thought to write one, it would probably be something about Richard Pryor
Enjoyed the video.
PaladinMthe13th Thank you for the kind words
i legit just got my stats maxed out earlier today i could make a destruction spell for example that does 300 points of elemental damage from fire , frost, shock 100 points each but it cost a lot of money which is my biggest set back
Such a broken game
Being able to do anything and everything is great.
Can you explain the "area" modifier, is not clear how it work on target and touch spells
A good example is that you can easily get the Sword of White Woe from a guard tower in Balmora using telekinesis from behind a pillar, giving you a useful, early game ebony broadsword which drains opponents’ health.
good quality stuff you got here, keep it up pls :3
Thank you so much for the kind words!
How long to I keep using a spell before it works properly
You can get a rough idea of your cast chance by looking at the orange-red bar under its icon in the UI when you have a spell equipped. There's several factors for determining cast chance, but probably the most important is the spell's school. One skill level in the corresponding school gets you +1% cast chance.
ohhhh what?, skyrim doesn't have spell making system lol D:
Probably necessary to make balancing a little easier, but it's a bummer nonetheless. Hoping it comes back for TES6!
Should I play with spell making at an early level? I made a Nord that is mostly afept at combat, but has destruction as a major skill and restoration as a minor skill. And im level 2 after two play sessions.
What level is your Nord now ?
@@rapidsqualor5367 3... I haven't been playing often, if at all.
you dont need to.
there are plenty of scrolls in game that you can cast with 100% success rate
I was watching thinking
Why doe this guy sound familiar?
Then i looked at the channel
How to restore mana in Morrowind:
Novice: sleep;
Apprentice: drink self-made restore mana potion;
Journeyman: summon creature for a couple of seconds and drain mana from it; bonus point for summoning creature by permanent effect wearable item by equipping it;
Expert: while having absorb spell effect on you, activate tribunal or imperial divines shrine;
Master: drop your intelligence to zero for a moment;
Grand Master: drop your mana below -32000-something
Hehe 2:15 “Engraved Ring of healing”
I love these videos!
Thank you!
Is it possible to create a recall on touch/target spell to cast on npcs or enemies?
1:18 what mod makes buildings look like this
I always found it odd from Daggerfall to Morrowind that you need to find a special person to make a spell, but the spell you make is effected by *your* stats.
Most efficient damage spell?
shock, because least npc's have resistance to it.
fire is worst because majority of npc's are dunmer which have resistance to fire.
but again, you might see a nord that has shock resistance but does not have fire.
hence most efficient damage spell would be combination of all elements.
I think Morrowind is my favorite TES game...
fortify mantu for EXTRA SUPPORT
Does a touch spell with 0 area work?!?!???!?
I really hope someone will respond. So if i want to i can make a spell that just instantly give me a full set of bound arnour and a bound bow?
Theoretically I think you might be able to? Can't remember off the top of my head if custom spells have a limit to the number of effects you can have on them. That said, the cost of the spell will skyrocket thanks to all the effects
@@LyleShnub hmmm interesting. Thanks.
Bitter Cup challenge attain luck from the Bitter Cup
It seem that all the morrowind magic system did was let you choose how much magicka to spend and thus how much damage the spell would do.
Spells do more than damage. Teleporting, shielding, turning invisible, flying, turning enemy spells into more mana or turning them back on the casters, all sorts of stuff.
That formula for spell gold cost can't be right, I have a spell with 789 magicka cost and I spent 40k on it. Ver. 1.6
You watched that video where the guy nukes Balmora didn't you?
Still don't know what "Area" is...
Im getting a degree in Morrowind
Try spell crafting with ONE MILLION INTELLIGENCE
Emm.. But intelligence don't count when you making a new spell. Willpower do.
And stats more that 50.000 crash game engine. Sry.
Илья Кокоев woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooosh
thanks ma nigga
no
spell making ruins mage class
How so?
Why didn't you give the ring to Fargoth? :(
ikr, you can literally steal it back AND take his gold stash if you give it back. smh.
Can someone explain to my stupid ass on how to read formula's properly.
It reads as "formulae" yw
could you please refrain from use ableism in your videos, like insane, crazy, dumb etc www.autistichoya.com/p/ableist-words-and-terms-to-avoid.html for more info.
6:17 hope you are doing well
You have just blown my mind.
